I strongly think that this project
should be a solo project,
I want to have the highest degree of
control and responsibility on the contents
Still,
when it was the time to record
I chose
to make some friends join
the records
so the recording line up consists of Pietro Marchetti
on the drums, I chose him for his
strong jazz background, also his
way of playing simple jazz grooves
another important thing
I wanted to have on the records.
Marco Veronese on bass
edward maletto on the vocals, both
of them already joined me on other projects,
I chose them in order to give them more room
to play and me to have a wider perspective
and to
control what was going on
and then I was involved in the piano playing
Acoustic piano
Electric piano and Organ
And writing Drone parts
when we've been ready for the recordings,
it's been really easy
to choose the recording studio
I immediately asked Daniel Grego
of Mal de Testa Studios in Tombolo
Where I already recorded 2 records
of really different genres
The choice was easy
since I saw a big passion in that studio
for analog sounds
sounds heavily inspired by
60's and 70's
really close to
what I did want as final result
also about the recording technique
and mixind and mastering
he immediatly intercepted
my needs
we decided to use miking techniques
used in the 60s and 70s,
the final master is in analog and you can hear it
I wrote the lyrics and the vocals
The 3 pieces
they all work on the concept of the dream
adding some personal references
I want this disk to fix some
ideas and thoughts
i did during the last months
the first song, The Teacher, deals with
a Teacher, the main characther of the story
he will see all the events
of the story
in the beginning he talks about his work
he closes the book that
he used to teach, then he start
thinking about his responsibilities on
shaping the world to come through
working processes
then he start thinking about how his vision of the world
has been shaped up through other people's work in writing history books
What he might be
giving his interpretation
or just describing
and this might be a way of
strenghtening
an historical vision of the past
this decision, how to use those sources
is something
that might impact heavily on
what will happen
on things to come.
Musically, the beginning harmony
with some dissonant chords
should be a way to resemble the
main characther anxiety
the second piece, Unavoidable Prediction
he will assist to an announcement, some
asteroids will crash on Earth,
and all his anxiety will be
nullified, from
a prevision, without a doubt
the outcome is certain
everything will be destroyed
and this will be furtherly developed on
the third piece wich is
Ouroboros, with its harmony that is
coming back to the first
dissonants chords,
representing total destruction
you can see all the thoughts, stories,
being pulverized and thrown in space
as dust
and in the end
getting back to the first harmonies,
because in this situation
you don't know if this situation will
evolve in a new panet
The musical return is also
a lyrical return
stating that you don't know what
might happen in the future since
the outcome for Earth in this story is
certain
The story should deliver a concept of
Immanence from the beginning so
this meteor storm should
Destroy Earth and the inhabitants
can do nothing than spectate the destruction
in this perspective, nature is
ferocious but its also nature that
is making thing happen
and the main characther, the one
in the first piece is the one making up
meaning on the situation, it's
up to you to make a meaning
on what's going on
the project has zero interest in the economical
part
it's been done
in order to reply to a personal need
to create something mine
First trying to deliver it through
some label into this kind of sound
but it could be delivered also through personal distribution
It will surely be out through digital release
I'd like also to release it through
vynil release
also to preserve the
mixing sound
For the future
I began to work on a possible
live setup where the drones would be
created using this keyboard and a loop
station and the risultato is
positive. I'd need also a drummer
to play live and there would be need to
understand how to handle the singing
even
withouth the complete lineup
that recorded.
My main focus to the future,
the part in which i'm putting
most of my energies is on the new
pieces, borrowind the sounds I mostly enjoyed
on this work
mainly the rhodes,
then working mostly on simple structures
with a stronger
harmonic tension
with more solos, in order
to complete the vocals
keeping an ethereal voice
and i'd like to use this musical references
on a concept I already focused
quite well
and on which i'm sketching some new
songs.
So I'll continue
