Today I will teach you how to leash train a puppy.

So let's dive in.

Step number one, let your dog get used to the leash.

Acquainting him with the leash is important in making him comfortable

while it is attached to him during your walk.

Have some training even while inside your house.

Attach collar and leash to the dog so it can familiarize with the feel of having it.

Step number two, incorporate basic commands while walking.

Before you go out into the environment with many distractors, the dog needs to know the basic commands.

Give orders to the dog like "stop", "come", "let go" and so on to make sure that it is listening.

Step number three, use the stop and go commands.

It's important that you are a leader, not your pet.

Don't let the dog dictate your direction or tempo.

Use the "stop" and "go" commands to prevent your dog pulling in.

If he insists on pulling, then you can change directions frequently so that you only allow him to follow you.

Step number four, use positive reinforcement.

A reward or praise for a correct deed is a great way to communicate to your dog.

That will motivate him to continue obeying your orders.

Step number five, be patient.

Training demands patience.

Train without distractors, and only when the dog is ready take it for a walk.
