I want to show you guys and I´m going to show you guys just another neat card trick for rookies.
Super easy to do but I really really effective at the same time.

The Topsy-Turvy cards is the first trick in the Royal Road to Card Magic
A fantastic book on the subject.
And we are going to stick pretty close to the version of the book,
However we are going to spice things up a little bit by adding some subtleties here and there.
And also I want to talk a little bit about the psychology going on,
Because this trick is kind of one bold misdirection.
Please watch the performance video first, so that you get an idea about the effect.
And also this will make it much easier for you to follow along here.
The info cards as well as the description box guide you to the performance.
So this one is an impromptu card trick.
Meaning: can be done with any deck, anytime!
However, get ready for the secret,
You are working here with a reversed card at the bottom of the deck.
And with this one reversed card at the bottom of the deck...
You create the illusion of two opposite packages vis a vis.
Contrasting each other!
Half of the deck face up, and half of the deck, more or less, face down.
However you are in the same position all the time.
Actually with all of them cards facedown, except for the reversed one at the bottom
But you are the only one to know right?
So just take the one reversed card at the bottom
...swivel it back...
And have your audience marvel about all them other cards following this magic lead.
So let me walk through mechanics of this one right now
Which is not a big deal at all but still needs be done right?
First of all you need to reverse a card at the bottom of the deck.
And the scenario this is a bold one because...
You are doing this burning like hell,
hiding in plain sight,
setting it up right under the noses.
Maybe you are pretending like you've never seen the deck of cards before?
Oh maybe you are just checking the cards,
you just borrowed from someone from the audience.
You know?
I call this cold fire.
Everybody's burning your hands,
But there's no heat since no one is really looking for something.
And the trick has not even started yet right?
Now the method that I just used is the one from the book The Royal Road to Card Magic
And very neat one and there's going to be an in-depth tutorial

So with one card reversed at the bottom of the deck.
You now sucker-punch them with a feigned choice simulating a card selection using the Thumb Riffle.
The spectator of course thinks, it's about the choice now
Therefore the attention lies on whatever you feed them with.
Of course it's not about the choice.
It's about setting up the con to play them for a fool.
This whole motion is about a simple tilt, twist...
...of the left hand or lower hand wrist.
It's this motion here, that sets up the con.
And it's covered of course for what the whole move is.
Showing the selection.
However the choice is meaningless, so let's be honest now for a second at least.
It's not about the choice here, it's not about just one card.
It's about all of them!
Bang! And this is eye candy!
This is the reward for a meaningless selection
In order to set up the con tilting, turning left-hand around.
Now in the next phase of the trick
You artistically place the upper package
upon the back of your left hand.
Of course with all them cards pointing face-up.
And then you take the other half of the deck
with seemingly all them cards pointing facedown.
And you place that upon the construction.
You are creating an irresistible illusion.
Of this to opposite packs.
Half of the cards face-up and half of the cards facedown.
But of course in fact all the cards are pointing in one direction,
Except of course for the one card that you reversed at the bottom of the deck.
With the illusion implemented
It's time to flourish this manipulated judgment of the audience.
And that's a great time to practice your bullshitting skills.
Come up with a story that reflects on,
how inviolable the situation is.
I mean this deck of cards right now represents....
The whole universe....
It is what the universe is at its core.
The symmetry of two opposing states equal at the same time.
And you can turn this page around as many times you like.
It never changes except for the magic...
And bullshit like that!
In doing so the illusion gets so real...
That in this trick you literally pull the reversed card out of the deck...
And then you clean up the whole mess in front of everybody's eyes
And that's the trick!
You only now need to present the effect,
of all them cards resetting themselves magically...
Mind blowing from a spectators point of view.
Just a touch of finesse.
When you pull the bottom card out of the deck
To create the illusion that it comes somewhere
from the bunch of the cards pointing face-up.
Use the tip of your thumb, the thumbnail,
And you push a notch into the lower package
Creating the illusion, that you are pulling the card out
From somewhere in the lower area of the cards face-up.
And then it's totally up to you
How you present or how you play the magic....
Give them cards a kiss!
Make them disappear.
Or, you know, do this thing...
I don't even know what that is.
It really doesn't matter...
As long as you find your own style
to present it in a way, so that it´s in anyway entertaining!
And that's the trick!
And there you have the topsy-turvy cards.
Never underestimate this trick.
Because it's too easy or a beginner card trick or something.
That just would be stupid.
This is a very powerful card trick.
It's a lot of fun to perform.
And layman usually enjoy this very much.
So I believe, you should have this at your fingertips.

A very beautiful and useful flourish in card magic
However you don't need to know the one-handed fan in order to perform the topsy-turvy cards.
That's just something I added, when I was studying and learning this very card trick.
