House Republicans Vote To Shield Dangerous Corporations From Consumer Lawsuits - Duration: 4:21.

Speaker 1: While it's important to focus on some of the

horrible things that Donald Trump does day in and day out, we also have to keep in mind

that we have Republican majorities in both the house and the senate, and those people,

thanks to the media constantly paying attention only to Donald Trump, are doing some really

terrible things that we really need to be focused on.

This past week, Republicans in the house, on the house judiciary committee, passed a

resolution that would limit the ability of American consumers, American citizens, to

file class action lawsuits against corporations.

This resolution, bill, whatever you want to call it, did pass committee.

Now it's up to the main house body to decide whether or not to bring it to the floor, but

it did pass committee.

What this piece of legislation is going to do is limit who can file a class action lawsuit,

who can band together for class actions, and it's something that business lobby in Washington

DC has been fighting for since the Ronald Reagan administration.

What businesses, corporations, what have you, what they want to do, is to make it to where

consumers cannot band together and form a class action.

People with a similar complaint can't band together into groups of 2,000, 3,000 and file

one big lawsuit.

They want every individual person to have to file their own lawsuit where the company

can then go in and fight each one individually.

A move that will enrich defense lawyers and prevent a lot of people from ever filing a

lawsuit because they have neither the time nor money to be an individual plaintiff, and

corporations know this, CEOs know this.

They know that if we take away that class action protection people won't file lawsuits

when this corporation decides to dump toxins into a local body of water, when they produce

a product that they know is going to kill people but they decide to do it anyway without

warning us.

Because that is the conduct that we see from corporations.

We see it all the time.

We see it in their documents, where they explicitly say, "The test on this product, product X,

have come back and shown us that it will kill people if they take it.

Let's omit that from our report and sell it anyway."

Statements like those are found in corporate documents in lawsuits all the time.

That's one of the main reasons that these class action lawsuits end up being successful

for consumers.

It's because we find out all the dirty disgusting things that these corporations do to deceive

and harm the American public.

House Republicans want to take away your right to do that.

They want to make it easier for corporations to kill people without being held liable.

They don't want these corporations to have to pay out hundreds of million dollars in

these massive settlements or jury verdicts to right the wrongs that they caused.

Do you know why?

Because instead of paying out that money to the victims Republicans in congress, Republicans

in the senate, and hell a lot of Democrats too, they want that money to not go to the

victims, they want it to go to their campaign coffers.

They want their hands on that money, and by keeping it out of the hands of the people

who are injured, the people who have medical bills, the people who've developed cancers

that are going to plague them for the rest of their lives and ultimately cause the end

of their lives.

Republicans in congress think it's just fine for them to take that money, not the cancer

patients, not the people who've been harmed by corporations, not the people who are missing

limbs, the people who are missing loved ones because of corporate actions.

Republicans want that corporate money so bad that they don't care if you ever get your

day in court.

They don't care if you ever get justice for your family, or a little bit of compensation

to try to start putting your life back together.

What's more important for Republicans is that they find a way to fund their next campaign.

That is what this class action limiting legislation is all about.

How to Write a Postcard - Learn German for Beginners A1/A2 #7 - Duration: 3:50.

You want to send a picture postcard to a friend in Germany, but you don't know how one write something like that.

Today we will write a postcard together and I will send it to one of my favorite YouTubers, Rewboss.

At the end of every video he says, that one can send him a card and he will hang it on his bulletin board.

We are starting with the address from Rewboss.

Rewboss PO Box 10 06 29 63704 Aschaffenburg Germany

We naturally start with his name.

Although he is actually named "Andrew", we are writing here "Rewboss", because that is how he is called on YouTube.

The word "Postfach" (PO Box) means that mail is not sent to his living address,

but rather lands in a personal box in the post office.

The number says, which box belongs to him.

In a German address, the zip coke comes before the city. At the end we simple write "Germany".

In the USA, we have to write "city, state, and zip code".

If the card is coming from another country, one must also write "USA".

Now we can write the contents.

Because I wanted to write a little more and my handwriting looks awful,

I typed everything and glued it to the card.

Dear Rewboss,

Here we wrote "Lieber" instead of "Liebe" because Rewboss is masculine.

I look forward to watching your videos every week.

They are always very informative.

Every year I show my students 10-20 of your videos.

They are very educational, helpful, and always beautifully made.

My students have told me for a few years that I should send you a card.

Unfortunately, I couldn't fin any cards in the city in which I live,

because Edwardsville is neither large enough or important enough to have postcards.

Therefore I sent you a few postcards from St. Louis.

Sincere regards, Herr Antrim

Dear Rewboss,

These photos show Busch Stadium.

The baseball team "St. Loius Cardinals" plays here.

They have one the World Series 11 times.

The name of this baseball stadium stands for the last name of one of the two founders of Anheuser-Busch, Aldophus Busch.

He was born in 1839 in Germany

and founded Anheuser-Busch with his father-in-law in 1870,

although Anheuser-Busch was known as Bavarian Brewery between 1852 and 1870.

Today they make such bad beers like Budweiser and Bud Light.

With sincere regards, Herr Antrim

Now I simply have to stick a stamp on it and send it to Germany.

In a few weeks, Rewboss will get my postcards.

That is all for today. Thanks for watching. Until next time. Bye.

If you want to see more videos for beginners, click the A1/A2 link.

If you want to learn more about the German language, you can find that on my Patreon page and my blog.

If you want to learn German from me very week, you should push the subscribe button.

Text Mining in Publishing - Duration: 3:58.

Hi there.

I am John Bond from Riverwinds Consulting and this is Publishing Defined.

Today I am going to discuss text mining as it relates to scholarly publishing.

Text mining also goes by the phrase text data mining or text analytics.

Text mining in scholarly publishing is the process of deriving high-quality information

from peer reviewed articles and other content.

It does this by processing large amounts of information and looking for patterns within

the data, and then evaluating and interpreting the results.

Text mining is most beneficial to researchers or other power users of technical content.

It is very different from a keyword search such that you might perform with Google.

A key word search likely produces thousands of web links with no uniformity in the results

and certainly no ability to draw meaningful conclusions.

An example: let's say you are researching bladder cancer in men and you are looking

for specific biomarkers for other disease states.

You probably don't have the time to review all the literature you might find through

a search at PubMed.

Text mining will review the available literature.

It understands the parts of speech (nouns, verbs), recognizes abbreviations, takes term

frequency into account, and other natural language processes.

It will filter through all the content, extracts relevant facts, spot patterns, and provides

the researcher with a more condensed set of results and statements than a literature search

or a cursory review of abstracts ever could.

It knows bladder cancer is a disease state.

It knows, in this instance, to look for men as opposed to women.

It understands what a biomarker is and how to apply this term to other disease states.

It understands bladder cancer is a phrase and not being used as two separate terms.

Text mining software involves high level programming and such concepts as word frequency distribution,

pattern recognition, information extraction, and natural language processing as well as

other programming concepts well beyond the scope of this video.

The overall goal is to turn text into data for analysis and thereby help to draw conclusions.

However, the results of text mining in and of themselves is not the end product, just

part of the process.

Individual text mining tools or enterprise level ones have become more common with researchers,

librarians, and large for profit and not for profit organizations, and they will only grow.

Aside from a text mining tool, an application is also necessary to check that the content

being mined is licensed and to provide appropriate links to the content.

Text mining is important to publishers or any group that holds large stores of full

text articles or databases because this information as a whole has greater value than each individual

part.

Text mining can help extract that value.

A key point for publishers is that the text mining tool and its user, such as a researcher,

needs to have access to the content either by it being open access, through a subscription,

or through a purchase.

Subscription publishers see revenue when content is accessed or purchased.

All publishers see article downloads and page views from text mining efforts.

Either way, text mining as a tool in research, in medicine, in pharmaceutical R&D will only

continue to grow in importance.

Well that's it.

Please subscribe to my YouTube channel or click on the playlist to see more videos about

text mining in scholarly publishing.

And make comments below or email me with questions.

Thank so much and take care.

REPAIRS.

THOSE -- STROLLER SAFETY IS

IMPORTANT, THAT IS WHY DR.

ASHANTI WOODS, PEDIATRICIAN,

MERCY MEDICAL CENTER IS JOINING

US.

GOOD MORNING, YOU HAVE A

10-MONTH-OLD?

DR.: I SURE DO.

IT IS SCAR BECAUSE THESE ARE

PARENTS TRUSTING THESE COMPANIES

TO FOLLOW THE RULES AND

UNFORTUNATELY THESE FALLS WERE

DUE TO A MECHANISM ON THE

STROLLERS.

JEN: PARENTS CAN MAKE MISTAKES

WHEN IT COMES TO CAR SEATS.

DR.: THAT IS CORRECT.

ONE MISTAKE YOU CAN MAKE IS NOT

REGISTERING IT.

YOU WANT TO REGISTER, THEREFORE

YOU GET NOTIFICATIONS OF A

RECALL.

JEN: YOU ALWAYS WANT TO MAKE

SURE OF THE HEIGHT AND WEIGHT

RESTRICTIONS.

DR.: THAT IS CORRECT.

THE STROLLER IS ABOUT UP TO 50

POUNDS.

JEN: IT SEEMS LIKE A SHORTCUT,

BUT ONE DANGER IS NOT USING

SAFETY STRAPS.

DR.: CORRECT.

SOMETIMES TWO PEOPLE WILL NOT

STRAP THE CHILD IN.

THE SECOND PERSON COMES IN WITH

THE CHILD, AND DOESN'T KNOW

CHILD IS NOT STRAPPED IN.

JEN: ALWAYS USE THE BREAK.

DR.: THESE THINGS CAN ROLE AWAY

BY INCIDENT.

JEN: MAKE SURE THE HINGES ARE

WHERE THEY SHOULD BE.

EVEN YOU COULD GET INJURED BY

THE HINGES.

DR.: ABSOLUTELY.

WE DON'T WANT PEOPLE WITH THEIR

FINGERS NEAR THE SWINGING

PIECES.

JEN: A LOT OF THEM WILL HAVE NOT

JUST A HANDLE, BUT SOME THEY GO

LIKE THIS.

YOU WANT TO STICK YOUR BAG OR

PURSE ON THEIR.

DR.: THAT IS BAD BECAUSE THE

STROLLER BECOMES HEAVY AND COULD

CAUSE A LIFT.

SOME OF THESE BAGS HAVE STRAPS,

ENCOURAGING YOU TO DO SUCH, BUT

A BAD IDEA.

JEN: A LAUNDRY LIST.

DR.: GRADES, BRUISES, SOMETIMES

HEAD INJURIES.

A SMALL BABY WITH A HEAD INJURY

COULD BE A GAME CHANGER -- WE

WANT TO MINIMIZE THAT.

SAS Graphics Accelerator: Getting Started - Duration: 4:53.

This is Ed Summers from SAS

I'd like to show you how to get started with the SAS Graphics Accelerator.

I'm running Windows 10, JAWS 18, Google Chrome...

and I've installed the SAS Graphics Accelerator for Google Chrome from the Chrome web store.

I'm on the home page for Google and I'm going to search for SAS Graphics Accelerator samples.

[SAS Graphics Accelerator Samples]

at a later

[Enter. Search button. Google search]

[Google heading level one link graphic]

[search results heading level two]

[SAS registered Graphics Accelerator sample graphs heading level 3 link visited]

And the first search result is a link to the samples

on support.sas.com for the SAS Graphics Accelerator

Let's activate that link.

[space, main region, SAS registered Graphics Accelerator sample graphs level 3 link visited. SAS Graphics Accelerator] [piano notes]

The SAS Graphics Accelerator monitors all page loads in your browser.

When it detects a graph within the page that's been created by SAS

it tells you that those graphs are present with an earcon. [piano notes]

When you hear that sound that means there's graphs on the page that can be presented in alternative formats.

I'll press "G" to move through the graphs on the page.

[pie chart showing cars by origin graphic]

[bar chart showing cars by make graphic]

[histogram showing distribution of horsepower graphic]

The SAS Graphics Accelerator also inserts a button on each graph...

[accelerate histogram showing distribution of horsepower button]

and we will active the button for the histogram.

[space untitled dash Google Chrome SAS output match description, three headings and one link]

That loads the description view for this graph.

[Histogram showing distribution of horsepower. Heading level two histogram. Title colon horsepower]

[X-axis colon label is quote horsepower quote. Ranges from 60 to 500.]

[Type is continuous, scale in linear. Y-axis colon label is quote percent quote]

[Range is from 0.2 to 26.9 type is continuous, scale is linear. This histogram contains 12 data points.]

The description view includes a description that is automatically generated from the graph.

It also includes links to a sonification view of the graph.

[Heading level two sonificaiton. Link explore this histogram using sound. Use right and left arrow keys to navigate along the X-axis]

[The Y value of each bar is represented by pitch of the corresponding piano note. Press H for additional keyboard commands.]

We'll come back to sonification.

In the last section on the description view page is data from the graph that's represented in a tabular format.

[Heading level two data]

[Displaying up to the first 20 rows of data. 2 columns and 14 rows]

[Data tabular format column one row one horsepower, percent column two.]

[60, 0.2 row two. 100, 6.1 row three. 140, 15.2 row four. 180, 20.8 row five.]

At the bottom of the table is a button that allows us to download the data that was used to create the graph

as a CSV file so it can be opened in other programs. [download data as CSV button]

Let's go back to the sonification view. [data heading level two, sonification heading level two.]

And let's explore this graph using sound. [tab, explore this histogram using sound link, space]

[piano notes] [Horsepower, one region one application and no links. Chart off.]

Within the sonification view, the SAS Graphics Accelerator represents

data on the Y-axis using pitch.

So, data points that are low on the Y-axis have a low pitch and data points that are high on the Y-axis have a high pitch.

The X axis is mapped to your left and right speakers.

The data points on the left side of the X-axis are in your left speaker.

and data points on the right side of the X-axis are in your right speaker.

Let's play this graph from left to right.

[piano notes]

Let's go back to the left side of the histogram and explore each data point interactively.

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 60. Percent equals 0.2]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 100. Percent equals 6.1]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 140. Percent equals 15.2]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 180. Percent equals 20.8]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 220. Percent equals 26.9]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 260. Percent equals 11.2]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 300. Percent equals 11.7]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 340. Percent equals 5.4]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 380. Percent equals 0.9]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 420. Percent equals 0.2]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 460. Percent equals 0.5]

[piano note] [Horsepower equals 500. Percent equals 0.9] [piano note]

The SAS Graphics Accelerator is available now in the Chrome web store and the Mozilla Firefox store.

Try it. And send us feedback at accessibility@sas.com

7 Ways for Telecoms to Use Video - Duration: 6:48.

hi my name's Chris from Seven Video Productions

One particular sector that

we've done a lot of work in is the telecoms

industry and we've really started to see

the benefit. So here at seven ways that

telecoms companies can really utilise

video. Number one, a company video can be

the perfect way to introduce yourself to

your potential customers. It's a perfect

opportunity for building trust in a

saturated market place. Telecoms

companies often get about rep when it

comes to things like customer service.

We've all been there in the modern world

where we sat on a phone speaking somebody

what seems like hours been put on hold

all this kind of stuff. So with companies such as

Plusnet they really work on trying to

build trust with their potential customers

and their existing customers. For example,

with their advertising they do this by

using an every man to tell the story,

to make a connection with their

customers, showing that they are loyal

and trustworthy. So a company video can be

the first port of call for really

getting across your brand message so

this identity can sit through all your

video content like Plusnet have done

the every man, the trustworthy man.

It works really really well

Plus the video on the homepage can be

really striking and set you apart and it

really does increase conversions. Research

conducted by a company called UnBounce

say that it really does increase by up

to 80% for getting new

customers.

Number two, Explainer videos.

Explainer videos can be

a really useful tool for telecoms

companies, a lot of problems they're

dealing with our frequently asked

question and jargon busting, For us mere mortals

we don't understand all these technical

information. If you can have a video by

explain something clearly and concisely

and puts across the functionality of a

product rather than dazzling people with

all this information, then this can be

really beneficial. This is echoed by

insidious report that states that 90%

of users find a video helpful

when looking for a product online.

Explainer videos also work brilliantly

when it comes to google ranking

because this is all based on quality of

content and how long people spend on

your website said somebody is watching

explainer video about a product for

several minutes then this does nothing but boost

your credibility. Number three, internal

communication are a great way to utilize

video. You can really get your message

out there. With telecom companies you

could be looking at hundreds if not

thousands of people across loads of

different departments, so in order to get

a new idea and improvement to the

workflow or whatever that may be video

is the perfect way to get it out there

rather than just these text heavy emails

that nobody really opens or listens to.

Your colleagues are likely to be a lot

more receptive to video this is based on

the fact of visual learning. It's said that

the brain works 60,000 times faster when

its processing visual information rather

than text, so this is a perfect way to

get your message out there and keep

people engaged. Number four, staff training

videos. A training video really does

encapsulate the flexibility with this type

of work, how you really gonna get your

message out there. Now let's think about

it if your wanting to Train somebody who

just arrived at your company you don't want

to have to send an individual out to do

it bespoke, so rather than having to

train specifically to a new member of

staff

it's much better to be able to role out

video. So this is content that can be

used over and over again and plus it'll

save you a fortune because you're not

having to tailor your time to one

individual you can just put it out there.

Number five, event videos. Event videos

are a classic thing for telecoms

companies and there's loads of different ways

you can do it. So you could shoot it live

with several different camera angles

this is great so you can use the

information again for webinars to maybe

educate people who couldn't attend the

event. Then there's also the option

of using a highlight video so you can

put together key messages and you can

use fancy shots and you can really make

it work really look nicely balanced as a

package and then of course you can

distribute that to promote further events or

reflect on the event that you've just

had and then of course there's social media

videos these can be really sharp and

snappy.

Again you can get your message out

there through text form or just little

bite-sized pieces of information.

Something that's very common place at the

moment is people doing team-building

exercises, so, wouldn't it be great if you

could film those experiences and really

get your personality and your brand out to your

customers. So event videos are all well and good

when you're sharing them out to the

general public but they can also be

really influential internally. It's a

great way to give yourself a pat on the

back and all your team so they can see

the great work you did and what a great

day that event was. Number Six, Animation Videos

these are a great weapon in the arsenal

of a telecoms company. So once again I

don't want to down trod too much but

there can be a lot of jargon when it comes

to telecoms companies, so an animation video

can be the perfect opportunity to make

sharp snappy content to really get your

point across and dispel all that jargon.

Of course with telecoms is such a

fast-moving flow of technological

advancement and if we have a basic core

of information we can keep adapting that to

keep up with the first pace of the

modern world. Number 7, Testimonial videos.

These are also incredibly useful for

telecoms companies because you can use a

testimonial to really get across the

power and the passion of your company

and really exhibit the great service

that you gave your customer and don't

worry doesn't need to be all flash and

it doesn't need to be all fake

we want real people so "errs" and "ums" don't really matter

as long as they have a passion. You know

if they're name drop in an individual that

they work within the company then all

the better. We want to really get across

that personal relationship and what

better way to test somebody's integrity.

I don't know about you but if I'm

writing a review or if I'm trying to get

a point across about a business then I

like to tell the truth because if I

recommend to a friend and they end up

being rubbish then, you have an element

of guilt with that so it really gets

across the truth in people and hopefully

that should really come through on

camera. So recent data collected by HubSpot

really backs up this idea.

According to their research

78% of people would

trust an online review as much as they

would a family or friend.

A testimonial video can go a long way to

instilling trust and confidence in your

Brand
