Hi, everybody! Welcome back to Top Words.

My name is Alisha and today we're going

to be talking about 10 must know math

word. So let's go!

Plus. The first word is plus, you might

have this + sign on your keyboard, you

probably do, it means to add something. So

like, one plus one equals two.

It's an addition related phrase, plus.

Minus, the next one, the opposite of plus

is the - sign. So in this case,

two minus one equals one. So it's a

subtraction. That's related to subtraction,

taking away something, minus.

Times. Ok, the next one is times, we use for

multiplication, so it's represented by an

x symbol. So 2 times 2 equals 4. We use x.

2 x 2 equals 4, it's a multiplication

related word. I wonder why we use x. 2 x 2.

Divided. divided as the verb, so

2/2 equals 1, for example. Divided by is that

dot line dot symbol. 2/2 equals 1. You

can use "divided by", is the expression, two divided by...

Equal. Equal or equals, we use this before

we present the solution to a math

problem, so 2 times 2 equals, with an s,

equals, it equals four,

for example. You can also use equal to

show that two things have the same value,

two is equal to two. This value is equal to

that value, that's another way that you

can use the word equal. Equation, the next

math word is equation. Equation, so up

until now we've been talking about a

part of an equation but the whole math

problem everything there is called the

equation, so the process that you need to

do in order to solve an equation. An

equation is something that you do to

solve a problem. This this part of the

equation, this part is the solution.

The ending the result is the solution.

The problem is called the equation, the

process, the math process to find a solution.

Percent. Percent, this is a very useful word you

can use, of course, when doing math or

maths problems, but you can also use this

when shopping, for example. So a sale is

five percent off, ten percent off, it

represents a discount.

You can also use percent to describe

effort levels, for example, a sports team

coach might tell his team,

I need you to work at a hundred percent

today. So it's used to express the

level of something, but it can also be

used in sales and in math related terms.

Remainder. The next word is remainder.

Remainder is used when doing a division,

it means, remainder means

something that is left over. So when

doing division, when doing division

problems, sometimes there's a

problem or an equation that results in

a number that is not round, or a

number that is not whole. So for example,

1.2 might be a solution to a math

problem, the 0.2, that is the

remainder there, that's what's left over.

So it's not a whole number but there's

something, a little bit, that's left,

that's remaining, that's called the

remainder, something that's left over.

Even. The word even represents numbers

like two four six eight ten twelve, we

consider those numbers even, they end in a

2, 4, 6, 8, or 0, those are the even numbers.

Odd. So the next word is odd, which

represents the numbers that are not even.

1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, any number that ends in

one, three, five, seven, or nine is called

an odd number. Anything that ends in two,

four, six, eight, or zero is an even number.

Alright, so those are 10 math related

words that are actually quite useful, you

can use them to talk about, of course,

math equations, but they're also useful in,

perhaps, in some business situations and

when shopping. So give them a try. Thanks

very much for watching this episode of

Top Words, and we will see you again soon. Bye!

Lemon Thyme Peach Filled Buckwheat Crepes | Gluten-free + Vegan Recipe - Duration: 7:42.

Canned peaches present a sweet convenience – it means we get to enjoy fruity desserts,

breakfasts or snacks during the winter months. Infused with lemon and thyme, these cling

stone peaches make a great filling for soft buckwheat crepes – a comforting gluten-free

dessert or vegan breakfast that is low in sugar to warm you up from the inside out.

Let's start by making the buckwheat crepes. They are gluten-free and pretty delicious.

So, mix the buckwheat flour, chickpea flour, brown rice flour, tapioca/potato starch and

a pinch of salt in a large mixing bowl. All the measurements and a printable version of

the recipe can be found on our website. The link is in the description under the video.

If you can't find buckwheat flour, you can use regular all-purpose or plain flour. You

can also use our recipe for the Mauritian crepe that we shared previously, just omit

the spring onions and reduce the salt to make it suitable for a sweet filling.

Once you've whisk all the flours together, add the coconut milk and a little of the water.

For today I am using canned coconut milk which is thicker and yields a nicer texture for

the crepes. But you can also use any other non-dairy milk or homemade coconut milk for

which we have another video. Check the description for the link.

Start to whisk to form a thick batter. Then add the remaining water while continuously

whisking and drawing in the flour to form a smooth lump-free batter.

Now, let the mixture rest for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile you can slice the canned peaches.

Peaches are the one fruit that I relish their canned version, especially the cling stone

variety. The California cling stone peaches are the ones that are more commonly available

in Canada. Cling stone peaches are rarely sold fresh in the stores as their stones are

so well attached to the flesh that they require mechanical methods to be removed.

It is reassuring to know that California cling stone peaches are canned in their own juice

or other fruit juices and contain no preservatives. You can even use this juice to sweeten your

recipes. So, slice the peaches rather thickly and set

them aside for now.

Let's continue to make the crepes. Heat

a crepe pan or cast iron griddle on medium high temperature.

To brush oil on the pan, I am using a paper towel. Fold the corners toward the centre

and pinch to form a balloon. Then dip it in a little oil and lightly brush it on the pan.

Once the pan is hot, ladle on just enough batter to coat it thinly. If the pan is light

enough, tilt it to swirl the batter around. If not, use the back of a round cooking spoon

to spread the batter evenly in a circular motion thinly on the pan.

Cook for about 30 seconds to one minute until a spatula glides easily underneath the crepe.

If it feels sticky, allow the crepe to cook for a little longer. Flip and cook the other

side until golden and crispy. Remove from the pan and set aside onto a plate.

We've actually shared a few more tips on how to make successful crepes in our previously

mentioned video. If you haven't watched it yet, be sure to check it out.

So, keep making the rest of the crepes until you use up all

the batter and stack them on top of one another to keep them soft.

Once all the crepes are done, we can quickly sauté the peaches. Place the sliced peaches

in a dry skillet. Don't turn the heat on just yet.

Squeeze on about a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.

Pluck the leaves from the sprigs of thyme. You can also use about ½

teaspoon of dried thyme if you don't have fresh ones.

I am adding 2-3 tablespoons of maple syrup for the flavour but you can omit it if you

wish to reduce the sugar. In fact peaches by themselves are relatively much lower in

sugar compared to other fruits. Turn the heat on high and sauté until the

juices have thickened. The high heat will quickly evaporate the liquid so that the peaches

still hold their shape. That's the good thing about canned peaches is that contrary

to fresh ones, they do retain their appearance, texture, flavour as well as nutritional content

when incorporated in cooked recipes. Once the juice has thickened turn off the heat.

To serve, tuck the warm thyme-infused peaches inside the soft folds of the buckwheat crepes.

Optionally, you can lightly drizzle some rose water custard sauce on top to make these crepes

exceptionally moreish. We will be sharing the recipe for the rose water custard sauce

soon so stay tuned. There is something about the thyme and peaches

that is refreshingly invigorating. Take a bite and this will feel like a "department

store of flavours". I've borrowed this line from an anime that I am currently watching

entitled "Toriko" which is pretty hilarious. It revolves around food, although not all

vegan, but it's the kind of weird that's fascinating, full of humour and adventure.

If you like One Piece and Dragon Ball Z, you'll probably like this one too.

So that's it folks, I hope you've enjoyed this recipe. Give us a thumbs up if you have

and leave us a comment or let us know if you'll try it. Be sure to subscribe to our channel,

if you haven't already. You can also subscribe to our newsletter. We'll send you an email
