Geonosian Gladiators and the Creatures from the Geonosis Arena - Duration: 2:46.

In Attack of the Clones, Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Padme are set up to be executed by three

creatures in the Geonosian arena.

So what was that all about and what were those creatures?

We'll be covering that today.

Geonosian culture was violent by nature.

The arena was created in the first place as place of celebration.

It was actually called the Petranaki arena, the Arena of Justice, or simply referred to

as the Geonosis execution arena.

The most we learn about it is from the novel Catalyst, in which Orson Krennic returns Poggle

the Lesser to his home world so that he could lead the Geonosians in the construction of

the Death Star.

Their arrival coincided with something called the Eve of Meckgin.

Meckgin was a celebration of the virtues of industry and hard work.

The day was honored by three days of gladiatorial combat and games.

Similar to the gladiators of ancient Rome, the Geonosian drones were often made to fight

wild animals.

In the case of Episode II, those animals were a Reek, a Nexu, and an Acklay.

Reeks were large rhinoceros type creatures from the planet Ylesia.

The horns on their cheeks and head were used for showing dominance among other wild reeks.

They were normally herbivores, but if they were starved they would become ravenous and

carnivorous.

Their natural color was brown, gray, or yellow, but a ravenous reek's skin would turn deep

red.

Those that were bred on Geonosis for the games were intentionally fed meat to increase their

aggression.

Nexus were catlike creatures from the planets Cholganna or Zhanox.

They had four red eyes that gave the infrared vision, claws, and quills on their backs.

They were around 4.5 meters long and just under one meter tall.

While they were, of course, dangerous, they had weak skeletal structure.

A kick from Padme stunned one, and it was easily killed by the reek shortly after.

Acklays were reptilian crustacean creatures from the planet Vendaxa.

They had razor sharp fangs and clawlike legs that were strong enough to smash a stone pillar.

In their natural environment they lived underwater, but would come to land to hunt.

They had small stomachs and a high metabolism, which gave them high amounts of energy, but

also meant they could starve quickly.

Their need to hunt and eat often made them aggressive, and ideal for use in the arena.

What is a Singularity? | Eternally Curious #11 - Duration: 4:21.

Hi, my name is Fede and this Eternally Curious.

What's a Singularity?

Well we say someone is singular when they are… one.

A single person.

And not just any individual, someone odd.

But that's not quite right.

A singularity is more like the answer to a question for which there is no answer.

Confusing?

Here.

Take this very simple function.

When x is 1, what's the value of f(x)?

OK, let's substitute.

1 over 1 is… 1.

Now what happens when x is zero?

Well that's easy.

Substitute, and…

The function has no solution, because it doesn't make any sense,

because 1 divided by 0 doesn't make any sense.

Unless you use a Riemann sphere in the complex plane which allows for division by zero in

some circumstances, in a way that makes expressions such as this one well-behaved.

The point is that these are just constructs.

They don't exist in the real world.

They are more like ideas.

See, when we built mathematics, we decided the rules, and according to those rules this

equation doesn't make any sense.

It has no answer.

So what's the problem?

It all goes backs to this guy.

Einstein's field equations.

You can easily derive their exact solution

for a single spherical non-rotating mass if your name is Karl Schwarzschild and you're

a genius physicist with a badass mustache

and then you end up with this, simple-looking formula.

Let's unpack this.

c is the speed of light G is the gravitational constant

M is the mass of the object and rs is the Schwarzschild radius

c and G are constants.

Say you have an ball of mass M.

If you squeeze it, the mass stays the same but its volume gets smaller.

If you keep squeezing the ball, it will become tiny, but stay just as massive as before,

all the molecules compressed close to each other.

Until it reaches a critical size.

And that's the Schwarzschild radius.

It is the radius of a sphere such that, if all the mass of an object were to be compressed

within that sphere, the escape velocity from the surface of the sphere would equal the

speed of light.

This means that in order to escape the gravitational pull of the object, whatever tries to get

away from it would have to move faster than the speed of light.

But because the speed of light is constant and nothing can ever go faster, nothing can

escape.

Including light.

It's essentially a black pit where anything you put in doesn't come back.

And that's what we call the congressional budget.

I mean, a black hole.

Because the speed of light is such a gargantuan number.

Its square is f**king gianormous.

Which means unless you have an unbelievably big mass, the Schwarzschild radius is very

tiny.

Take the Earth, which is pretty massive.

It has a radius of over 6,000 km.

Its Schwarzschild radius is only 8mm.

I don't think I can even begin to explain the scale of things.

It would be like turning this gigantic thing where all of humanity lives cozily and people

take years to travel around by foot.

Into something the size of a penny.

Let's go back to our Schwarzschild radius.

If the object's radius is less than that, it becomes a black hole.

But what happens at the center?

In other words, what happens if the object's radius IS zero?

This equation defines the shape of spacetime near a spherical mass.

Now you don't need to understand all of it.

Just have a quick look and see if you can spot the problem.

Congratulations, you just broke physics.

By creating a singularity.

An imaginary point in spacetime where all the laws we know don't make any sense.

Now let's make something clear.

The black hole isn't the singularity.

This is the event horizon, sort of a "beyond this none shall return" threshold.

That's the black hole.

And in the middle it's where you divided by zero.

The singularity isn't really a place, because in theory it occupies no space, and it has

infinite density.

It's like the concept of point in geometry.

It's hypothetical.

Except we have experimentally discovered black holes, exactly how Einstein and Schwarzschild

had predicted, and there is reason to believe that singularities do exists.

There is copious amount of speculation on what might happen at a singularity, including

wormholes, time travel, and portals to other universes.

If you're curious about that please let me know in the comments.

We just don't know for sure what happens at a singularity, and probably never will.

At least not until we get to "THE SINGULARITY", which I'll explain in a later video.

Jeep Wrangler Rough Country Gas Tank Skid Plate (2007-2017 JK 2 Door) Review & Install - Duration: 4:46.

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Rough

Country Gas Tank Skid Plate, fitting your 2-door, 2007 and up JK.

Today, we're gonna talk through the installation of this skid plate, which is a very simple

one-out-of-three-wrench install.

This is going to bolt directly onto your Jeep without the need to drill or cut anything,

so you should be able to get this installed in right around an hour, but we'll talk more

about the install in just a second.

I'm also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the features of this skid plate.

Skid plates offer you a couple of things when you're off-road.

One, they offer you, of course, protection in the event that you do get into a situation

where you come down hard off of an obstacle where there's that rock or stump that you

forgot about, but what they also do is give you confidence to do things that you otherwise

might not tackle, knowing that the often soft and unprotected underbelly of your Jeep is

not going to become damaged, which will leave you on the trail or keep you from getting

home.

These skid plates are going to give you confidence so you can have more fun out on the trail

without worrying about doing major damage to your Jeep.

Now, the gas tank does come from the factory with a skid plate, but that factory skid plate

is a little bit flimsy.

It doesn't attach in as many locations as this one does.

This is going to do a nicer job of protecting your gas tank, which, of course, is one of

those areas that you definitely wanna protect.

I would say the gas tank is right up there with the oil pan, and then the transmission.

These are all important areas that you certainly want to offer a lot of protection to, and

oftentimes, that factory skid plate just doesn't give you the protection you're after, and

that's where an item like this comes in.

This is also going to be significantly less expensive than some of the other gas tank

skid plates on the market, and while the other ones might have a slightly beefier bracket

to them, I think that this is still going to do an excellent job of protecting your

Jeep, and will save you some money for those other mods.

This skid plate is made from 3/16-inch steel and it's covered in a textured black powder

coat finish.

Now, that finish may not hold up very long if you're gonna be dragging the Jeep over

the rocks on the trail, however, it is a nice touch.

It is going to look good and it's also going to help the skid plate resist rust and corrosion.

If you do end up banging this up on the trail, it doesn't hurt to hit it with a little bit

of black from a rattle can, which will help to keep it from rusting even after you peel

the powder coat off of it.

This does have a couple of welded nuts on the inside of these two bracket locations,

which is a really nice feature.

Of course, you don't have to try and get a wrench in there to hold the nut on the backside.

You can just drive your bolt right in, making install a little bit easier.

And, as I said, this does install in a couple of additional locations where that factory

skid plate doesn't.

So, along with being thicker, it has some additional mounting points which are going

to give it some additional strength.

This does come with all the mounting brackets you need to get it installed, as well as all

of the hardware.

Along with the factory hardware, you're going to have everything you need to get this bolted

up.

As I said before, installing this on your two-door is going to be a very simple process.

All you need to do is first remove that factory skid plate by removing the couple of bolts

that hold it in place.

Then, you can hold your new skid plate in location, either with a friend or with some

jack stands, and reinstall the bolts that go in those factory spots.

After that, it's just a matter of removing a couple of additional bolts that hold the

gas tank in place, not the factory gas tank skid but the gas tank itself, installing the

brackets that are included with this kit, and finally, using the included hardware to

bolt this skid plate to those brackets.

Again, those additional brackets are just going to give even more strength and make

this even tougher.

As I said before, very simple one-out-of-three-wrench install.

It can be done in about an hour in your driveway, and you won't need any specialty tools, just

your traditional hand tools.

As I said before, this skid plate does come in at a little bit less than some of the others

on the market.

Some of the other skid plates may be from name brands that are known for their armor,

they might have a little bit of a beefier bracket that comes along with them, but for

me, for my money, at a little under $200, this is still going to do an excellent job

of protecting your gas tank.

And I've said it before, but it just gets the job done without completely breaking the

bank.

So, if you're going out on the trail and you wanna protect your gas tank against those

little slip-ups that can happen, and you don't feel like that factory gas tank skid plate

is going to be enough, this is an easy-to-install and fairly priced option.

So, that's my review of the Rough Country Gas Tank Skid Plate, fitting all 2007 and
