The idea behind flaschenpost is quite simple.

We deliver bottled drinks.

What we do differently is taking the process online

and delivering within two hours at retail prices.

We've taken beverage delivery to the 21st century.

We started with flaschenpost in Münster.

Cologne was a much bigger challenge afterwards,

we were completely unknown there

and that called for a very different marketing approach.

I was having an issue with an ad not being displayed,

so I called customer service. The Google Growth Team called me back.

Together we figured out how to approach new markets in new cities.

Google understands that Startups need

a different customer service than traditional companies.

It was an important first step for flaschenpost and us

to identify a relevant target group we can really connect with.

Then we analyzed what brings the best results,

what our master plan should be to expand into new cities

in order to get started as efficiently as possible immediately.

Thanks to our collaboration with Google

flaschenpost's sales have grown almost fivefold.

How Hong Kong Changed Countries - Duration: 11:51.

This video was made possible by Dashlane.

Stay safe online for free by signing up at Dashlane.com/Wendover.

This is Hong Kong.

177 years ago, as the conclusion of the First Opium War, the United Kingdom and China signed

a treaty that read, "His Majesty the Emperor of China cedes to Her Majesty the Queen of

Great Britain, etc., the Island of Hong-Kong, to be possessed in perpetuity by her Britannic

Majesty, Her Heirs and Successors, and to be governed by such Laws and Regulations as

Her Majesty the Queen of Great Britain, etc., shall see fit to direct."

With that, the British empire got just a little bit bigger.

The population of the island in that year was reported as 7,450.

Nobody would have imagined what this island, dotted only by a few fishing villages, would

become.

Fast forward 18 years: another Opium War, another treaty.

"It has now been agreed between the Governments of Great Britain and China that the limits

of British territory shall be enlarged under lease."

Fast forward 38 years: the third and final agreement.

"It has now been agreed between the Governments of Great Britain and China that the limits

of British territory shall be enlarged under lease to the extent indicated generally on

the annexed map…

The term of this lease shall be ninety-nine years."

Ninety-nine years: as good as forever to the signers of this agreement.

This forever, though, had an end and that end was 1997.

That didn't matter at first, though.

Hong Kong grew and grew and grew and grew into one of the richest, most powerful, and

most developed cities in the world.

It became the business center of Asia.

It thrived under a strong capitalistic economic model but then, as forever drew nearer, a

question loomed over the city.

Was it really going to go back to China?

That's the question British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher had for Deng Xiaoping, China's

paramount leader, when she visited Beijing in 1982.

The answer was effectively yes, in China's eyes, Hong Kong would return in 1997.

Now, it's important to note that it was only the lease of this portion, the New Territories,

that expired in 1997.

Kowloon and Hong Kong island were ceded in perpetuity which meant that according to the

terms of the agreements Britain could have kept these areas.

Hong Kong as a whole, though, is small enough already and the city had very much grown into

the New Territories so it was decided early on that these negotiations were effectively

over what would happen to Hong Kong as a whole—it would be too impractical to divide up the

quite integrated city into different parts.

Eventually, after years of back and forth, a decision was reached in the last days of

1984: Hong Kong would go back to China in 1997 but the Hong Kong Way of life, with a

capitalistic system and democratic government, would remain untouched for fifty years after

the handover until 2047.

Hong Kong would become a semi-autonomous region of China.

With that, a clock started ticking.

There were 12 years, 6 months, and 12 days left until Hong Kong would change from British

to Chinese.

In those twelve and a half years an enormous amount of planning and preparation was conducted

in order to carry out one of the only modern instances of the change in sovereignty of

a city as large and influential as Hong Kong between two countries so different.

In fact, this was the first time a capitalistic territory had been handed over to a communist

state.

Conducting such a monumental shift was no easy feat.

As such a significant business hub, Hong Kong based companies were some of the first to

make their handover plans.

There was, at the time, a lot of uncertainty about what would happen to the territory post-Handover

so many companies restructured to be legally registered elsewhere.

Jardine Matheson, for example, one of the most prominent Hong Kong companies, moved

their legal headquarters to Bermuda and their stock listing to Singapore even if their de-facto

headquarters remained in Hong Kong.

HSBC, which stands for the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, legally transferred many

of their assets to their London office, as well.

Companies typically didn't leave Hong Kong but rather set themselves up to be able to

in case the Handover went badly.

In addition to companies, individual people made their Handover plans as well.

Now, opinions were mixed on this grand change.

There was no one resounding view on whether the change in sovereignty was good or bad

for Hong Kong.

When surveyed in 1991, for example, about 57% of respondents were confident in Hong

Kong's future while 35% were not.

Of those 35% who were not, many chose to move elsewhere and there began a period of mass

migration away from Hong Kong.

A staggering 800,000 people left in the twelve and a half years leading up to the handover,

according to estimates.

Overwhelmingly, Hong Kongers settled in Australia or Canada, likely because they were commonwealth

countries, and the US.

Over 110,000 Hong Kongers settled in Vancouver alone—a city still shaped by this wave of

mass migration.

Many, though, were just migrating temporarily for a few years to gain Canadian citizenship.

With this, like companies, they would have a way to get out of Hong Kong if things went

wrong.

Hong Kongers could also get a special type of passport that was first introduced in 1985

in the lead-up to the Handover.

It was called the British National Overseas passport and it works differently to a British

passport.

It gives visa-free access to 118 countries, fewer than a full British passport, and noticeably,

does not give the right for someone to live and work in the UK.

Holders can only stay in the UK for up to six months and are not considered European

Union citizens.

These passports are still valid today and can be renewed for anyone born in Hong Kong

prior to the handover.

There was a huge and increasing rush of people at registration for these passports in the

years leading up to the Handover with millions overall being issued.

While today's Hong Kong Special administrative region passport is more powerful in terms

of visa-free access to countries, holders of British National Overseas passports, as

British nationals, get the same consular assistance and protection as a full British citizen in

case a holder runs into trouble outside the UK, at least on paper.

For this reason, hundreds of thousands still renew these passports to this day despite

their redundancy.

As the date of the Handover drew nearer, though, the government started focusing on the changes

they needed to make.

Of course there were enormous changes to the entire structure of government, the laws,

the legal system, and more but there were also small changes to be made, plenty of which

were visual.

For example, they needed a new flag.

The previous flag, which included the British Union Jack, certainly wouldn't work under

Chinese rule.

A contest was held with 7,000 submissions but all were rejected.

In the end, one of the contest's judges, Architect Tao Ho, came up with this design

which was eventually approved to be the new flag in April 1990.

But there were plenty of other signs of British-ness in Hong Kong.

The emblem of the police force included a crown and the word, "royal," so that had

to be changed too.

They eventually came up with a new design that swapped out British symbols and replaced

all uniforms at a cost of $2.8 million US dollars.

The word, "royal," in fact, was removed from basically every institution from the

Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club to the Royal Hong Kong Golf Club.

They just became the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Hong Kong Golf Club.

There was just plenty of sign changing city-wide.

Hong Kong's post-boxes were another symbol that needed altering.

Most, at the time, were imported from Britain and therefore were the iconic red pillar box

style featuring a crown.

Most of these were progressively removed with all being painted green to distinguish them

from the UK's.

As the days of British rule dwindled, focus shifted towards planning the actual event

of the handover.

Now, this event was of enormous significance to Hong Kong, China, Britain, and the world.

The BBC described it as the biggest planned event they had ever covered.

What was known was that the event would be centered around midnight on the night of July

30th, 1997—the exact moment of the reversion to Chinese rule.

As you can imagine, the two governments, Britain and China, each crucially desiring the best

possible optics for their side, negotiated relentlessly on the details of the event.

For example, there was a long dispute on which flags would raise and lower in which order.

Britain wanted the British Hong Kong flag lowered first followed by the Union Jack flag

to signify a dignified retreat from the colony.

China wanted the Chinese flag to be raised at the same time as the British flag was lowered

to signify an instantaneous resumption in sovereignty.

China also wanted the new Hong Kong flag to replace the British Hong Kong flag on the

same flagpole.

In the end, a compromise was reached to lower the Union Jack and British Hong Kong flags

at the same time then raise the Chinese and new Hong Kong flags at the same time.

There were also other subtle negotiated details such as: the Convention center, where the

event was to be held, was designed to have chairs facing south towards the stage.

For this event, though, a stage was built on the north side so the attendees would look

north possibly for the symbolism of looking towards China.

Eventually, though, the meticulously negotiated invites went out to thousands of dignitaries

and VIP's.

One week before the handover, the Royal Yacht Britannia sailed into Victoria harbor and

moored to the pier.

It would serve as home to Prince Charles, who would represent the United Kingdom, during

the handover.

Over the next week, the majority of the handover's VIP's, including Prince Charles, then British

Prime Minister Tony Blair, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, American

Secretary of State Madeline Albright, and plenty more arrived in the city.

That week was a week of lasts: the last meeting of the Hong Kong executive council, the last

changing of the guards at the British garrison, and then it was just the last day of Britain

in Hong Kong—Monday, June 30th, 1997.

The process kicked off with a 4pm ceremony at Government House marking the final departure

of Chris Patten, the last governor of Hong Kong, from what had been his official residence

for the previous five years.

At 4:30, that first of his goodbyes was completed and he was driven to the Royal Yacht Britannia

to join the rest of the British delegation.

Shortly after, around 5:30, a chartered Air China 747 touched down at Kai Tak airport

carrying Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Premier Li Peng, and the rest of the Chinese delegation.

Then, at 7:11 pm, the sun set on British Hong Kong for the final time.

Minutes later, the 4,000 lucky individuals invited to the handover ceremony gathered

at the convention center for a cocktail reception.

At 8pm, an enormous fireworks display started in Victoria harbor and then at 9 the handover

guests sat down for their banquet dinner at the Convention Center.

Simultaneously, around 500 Chinese People's Liberation Army troops were allowed over the

border to move into position and ensure that there would never be a lapse in the defense

of Hong Kong.

At 30 minutes to midnight, dinner was over and the ceremony began.

Prince Charles gave remarks bidding the territory goodbye on behalf of the Queen then about

a minute to midnight, God Save the Queen was played and the British and British Hong Kong

flags were slowly and simultaneously lowered, just as negotiated.

Then, in an instant, when the clock struck midnight, Hong Kong was Chinese again, just

like that.

The new Hong Kong and Chinese flags were then raised to the Chinese national anthem and

Chinese President Jiang Zemin gave a speech.

15 minutes past midnight, Prince Charles and governor Chris Patten boarded the Royal Yacht

Britannia and sailed out of Victoria harbor for the final time.

Prime Minister Tony Blair and most of the rest of the British delegation then boarded

a chartered British Airways 777 at Kai Tak Airport which swiftly took off bound for London

Heathrow.

By 3:30 am, all the British forces tasked with guarding Hong Kong until midnight had

boarded flights and taken off from the Chinese territory and with that, Britain was gone

from Hong Kong, for good.

Whenever I talk about Dashlane, the password manager, on here, people have one major question—what

if Dashlane gets hacked?

The idea behind Dashlane is that you store complicated passwords, ones you could never

remember, unique to each site you use on it so that if one of the sites you use gets compromised,

all your other accounts are safe.

How Dashlane works is that you remember one master key to get in that Dashlane doesn't

store—only you have it—so that even if Dashlane was compromised a hacker would still

have to go one by one through each user account and figure the passwords out through brute

force—something that would take heaps of time and never be worth it compared to other

targets.

That's why Dashlane is so safe and, since it autofills each of your secure passwords

for you on your devices, it's also quite convenient.

You can manage your passwords using Dashlane for free at dashlane.com/Wendover.

They also have a whole suite of online security tools included with their premium package

including a VPN, dark web monitoring, encrypted file storage, and more which you can get for

10% off by using the code, "wendover," at check out.

Help Me Choose My Smart Phone For My Smart Home - Duration: 5:52.

hello Automators thanks for tuning in again I'm asking for your help today to

help me choose a new smartphone so I've been using this iPhone 6s plus now for

way too long and it's time for an upgrade and I want to ask you guys your

opinion as well as give you some of my initial opinions as I've done research

into this market so let's get going you can't start a conversation about

smartphones unless you start it with Apple and their flagship phone they

currently have the iPhone XS Max and that you know to me is still the flagship the

ultimate best phone out there on the market today and it gives you the most

screen space and the most capability and is through tests the fastest phone on

the market today iOS is still incredibly powerful and

still very attractive to me because of the new shortcuts capability and what I

see with that is on whole nother App Store starting out for Apple and I don't

think we've quite seen them implement all of their plan with shortcuts but the

capabilities behind that again I see an app store starting here and a lot of

opportunity for creators of shortcuts actually in the future to create the

most powerful automation in the industry on top of that iOS has always been

extremely stable over all the devices are relatively high quality and I think

just in terms of the experience on the device

it's excellent the one thing that bothers me other than the price of a

device like this but other than that the other thing that bothers me is the

camera and I know that we talked about apples as having great cameras but have

you seen a picture from a pixel 3 or a pixel 2 lately and that brings me to

Google's pixel 3 or even the pixel 2 what they've done with that device is

created pictures at another level and the integration for me

as a smart home person with Google assistant is nothing short of impressive

I want access to duplex as soon as possible

and I want the ability to go and carry that around with me I don't want to be

stuck using a Google assistant app and having to do some back-channel creation

of shortcuts say on my iPhone to go ahead and utilize all the massive great

features that we're getting from the Google assistant so that integration

with Google assistant and integration over all in the Google ecosystem is

really important the other thing that I see with the pixel 3 and even the pixel

2 is those services that you're kind of utilizing here so Google Photos

unlimited storage space you really you really get out of the whole storage hell

that I find I'm in with the iPhone and then I've got to pay for iCloud if I

want to deal with that no I deal with that in some automated

ways but I don't necessarily want to have to do that or maintain these other

services that I do to me the pixel 3 and I want the Excel version is a great

option it has the base Android and all of the things that I've talked about in

the past but I even look a little bit at the pixel 2 as a budget option here

because ultimately it's got those updates to the Google nitesite or the

pixel nitesite capability and I could actually use that phone kind of roaming

around to take videos here for you guys when I look at Samsung's flagship phone

here the s9 and you know ultimately we'll see some stuff on the s10 here but

the s9 seems like a great phone but I have always personally really hated the

overlay that Samsung puts over their smart devices or their Android devices

it's not base Android anymore and that really tends to frustrate me still the

specifications and the capability on that last night the rounded edges around

the screen I never thought I'd like but as I look at that device it is

nothing short of impressive and a lot of people love the galaxy the s9 in terms

of another budget choice the one plus 60 is something that a lot of people really

love they love this device and to be honest I don't know a ton about this

device I know it has relatively good specifications

I know it's using Android I know it is from a relatively good maker I mean one

one has been around or the oneplus series has been around for a long time

so the it's a relatively good maker but I don't know why I would go with that

phone other than a lower-cost versus say a pixel three so guys I want your

opinions here I'm really driving to find out what you're using and why you love

that phone so much especially as it relates to your smart home I want all of

the capabilities I want to have my cake and I want to eat it too but right now

I'm struggling with the pricing of some of these newer models and so I really

like to hear your opinions and why you went with what you did so give it to me

straight guys thanks for watching as always and we'll see you next time

I was literally sitting in the car

So it's nice to have something

that's just there for your convenience.

I was actually at work yesterday,

and one of my coworkers was saying she was feeling sick

And we sat in the break room,

Apex Legends Patch #2 & New Content Leaks - Duration: 6:13.

what's good everybody I'm Blitz5 and in today's video I'm gonna be talking about

apex legends we got some leaked information that was just revealed a few

days ago and we also have a brand new patch that's fresh off the press today

February 19th 2019 and as I record this video this was just announced a few

hours ago so we'll talk about the patch first and then we'll get back into the

leaked information because some of you guys may have seen this already there's

been a bunch of leaks over the past couple weeks and then here are some new

ones and kind of compiled them into a little list here so back onto the patch

again this is live for all platforms and this is just a small patch here working

on some of the issues with crashing right now that people have been seeing

across various platforms so the first one is specifically just for ps4 and

this is they address issues where we saw GPU hangs they also fix crashing when

pressing buttons too early in the load process again just for ps4 then they

also fix an issue where players would sometimes move slowly after revive I've

never seen this happen but down in the comments a lot of people were

complaining about this and that seems like a really annoying kind of bug to

happen they also fixed an issue with the Mirage ability causing crashes which was

one of the character abilities and they fix another issue which are Balter epic

skins causing crashes on the Xbox one so me myself I play on the Xbox one axe

with an SSD and I haven't had any crashing issues I don't know if that has

anything to do with that I know SSD helps the low timings but obviously some

of these crashes seem like they're internal issues and not just like a

specific Xbox issue and I don't have any trouble through epic skins so I can't

speak for that I haven't had any of these issues but hopefully this helps

the game overall it helped some of you guys out that I've been having these

problems then on to the leaked information so this is pretty

interesting here and just a personal opinion is that when you we saw this

game drop you could tell that they definitely sandbagged and kept a lot of

information or a lot of content back from the game being launched immediately

I mean there's only a handful of characters there's not many weapons in

the game so this game was definitely ready to start releasing stuff on a

week-by-week or monthly basis to keep everybody interested you'd kind of just

tell that that's the system they're going off so there's a lot of leaked

information on what content is coming so we'll get into that first there's two

heroes that are coming into the game and I'm sure we're gonna see a ton more

there's actually a list of about ten other heroes that they have the names of

that they got through data mining I'm not gonna read them all

here but they definitely have a lot of plans for more characters coming into

the game and I think the character distribution model is going to be the

main product in this game it's just more and more characters because obviously

the characters have abilities and that is kind of the highlight of apex so to

the new characters coming into the game are going to be octane who has a stim

ability which is cool probably gonna be like a movement ability kind of seems

like a titanfall s character coming into the game then on top of that we have

Watson who kind of seems like he has a Tesla trap so maybe he's gonna be like a

Tesla type scientist type eccentric type character which is really cool obviously

having fast movement for octane is a great ability but the other guy is a

little bit more appealing because of the Tesla traffic kinda sounds a little bit

more shocking if you will so I like that and then after that they have some

information about solos and duo's coming into the game kind of should have

expected that right just makes sense but now we don't know what's gonna happen

will there ever be a four-man squad are they ever gonna move up the playerbase

from 60 to 70 80 90 100 but right now what's leaked is that solos and duo's

are definitely coming into the game and there was also a leak about a game mode

called survival but we're not sure if this is just referring to solo modes

coming in or the regular battle royale mode or if this is a completely

different mode and I saw some people speculate online that this could be

something similar to project Darwin which you guys haven't played this a

very interesting Battle Royale game that's free to play or at least it was

for a while I played it on xbox and it was like solo survival and there was

someone who is a spectator in the game and they could change the events they

could close down different sections they could basically control how the circle

closed they could drop maybe like a care package or a certain weapon in the map

and they could cause events and this is really cool so some people are

spectating that this are speculating excuse me that this could be coming into

the game but who knows honestly there's so many different ways that you could

change up battle royale and change the game and so many different possible game

modes really you know there's so much creativity to be done with these with

the games and apex kind of already showed that that this could really go

anywhere and there could be a various different kinds of game modes coming

into the battery of games in the future so it's kind of hard to speculate in

general then after that we have word that a replay system is coming which is

awesome obviously when you get killed it's nice to see a replay so you can see

what's happened and it would be awesome this was in the

leaks but eventually if there's some kind of theater system in Apex legends

that is just awesome for us gamers and also for content creators and people who

like to make content and funny videos it's always awesome to have those kind

of modes but sometimes console struggles with that stuff and then yeah on top of

that like I said we have the new characters coming in a bunch of other

characters released and there was also announced that there's going to be some

twitch prime exclusive deals that we've seen with a lot of other games where if

you have twitch prime you get access to additional content in the game so again

that's all the information we have the patch fixing crashes pretty small

officially patched number two for the preseason and then we have this leaked

information I'm sure we're gonna see a lot of this stuff coming soon and again

just to wrap it up my opinion is that this game is a lot of fun but you can

tell that they kept a lot of content out again just repeating myself there's not

that much there's not that many weapons or characters so while they're

definitely gonna be funneling this stuff into the game and hopefully providing us

with a great experience for the spring and summer to come and I will definitely

be interesting to see how this game grows and that already has 25 million

players over 25 million unique players playing across all platforms so there

you go that's the update I hope you guys enjoyed the video if you did please give

a thumbs up and let me know what you guys think down in the comments below as

always thank you all for watching on blitz 5 and peace out

My Reaction To New Madoka Concept Trailer Movie Manga - Duration: 10:49.

Hey so I have a question for you do you remember back in and 2015 when it was actually announced

that we were going to get a Madoka Magica concept trailer and do you remember how exciting

it was when this new footage of all our favorite characters appeared on the screen and after

we saw this we all wanted so badly for the continuation of Madoka Magica to happen right

then and there are you frustrated?

The Madoka Magica concept trailer was released to us essentially promising us that we were

going to get some type of madoka sequel and we haven't heard anything in relationship

to a 4th movie and its been basically 3 years.

Are you frustrated like me that we haven't like heard anything in relationship to when

were going to get another madoka magica sequel I mean Magia record is awesome and everything

but lets be honest all of us who are madoka fans we want a continuation and so far we

haven't gotten it in the form of an anime which really sucks now what if I told you

that there was actually a manga that exist which actually takes the concept trailer that

we actually got back in 2015 but essentially puts it in manga form were all of the events

that take place within the concept trailer plus more can actually be fond within this

manga in today's video were gonna be diving into and dissecting the concept trailer fan

manga that's all coming up next so stay tuned hey this is Mami reporting for duty so basically

this is a manga that I fond which you can see right here and uh if you remember the

concept trailer uh this image that we have of madoka is exactly the same as the madoka

that appeared in the actual concept trailer essentially we have Sayaka who appears to

be in some type of battle with Homura now it goes without saying that when you think

about the concept trailer and when you think about the relationship that Homura and Sayaka

had at the beginning at the end of the third movie it makes since why Sayaka would be in

this type of a position cause we all know that Sayaka has a rivalry in relationship

to Homura so it makes perfect since why shed be trying to fight her and uh oh god oh god

and truth be told it also makes since why she would be losing uh because we know the

Sayaka from rebellion is not really in a position to defeat Homura as she is so yea essentially

the manga opens up with Sayaka fighting Homura and she's losing there is actually an image

of Homura that is presented in the concept trailer which looks exactly like this this

version of Homura that were seeing attacks Sayaka and essentially leaves her in a pool

of her own blood and then when we go down we essentially cut to a scene of Homura uh

and she's basically uh she's basically seeing Madoka so yeah we essentially have Homura

meeting up with Madoka she wondering what's wrong with her you might not know it yet Homura-chian

Sayaka chain has been missing two days ago I wonder what happened to Sayaka chian she

promised to come and watch my ballot residual oh the ballot residual from the concept trailer

that's really interesting oh boy but this this is ah look at Homura this is terrible

look at this face I see your right to be worried that is so messed up that is so messed up

oh Homura your so evil but I but I kind of like it when your evil to Sayaka so I'm not

complaining anyway uh and Homura's essentially saying keep your head up who cares about the

blue hair uh there will absolutely be an audience form your ballot oh boy Homura Homura is up

to no good which would it would make perfect since why this would be the case in a continuation

cause Sayaka would be a problem anyway you essentially have Homura who is walking uh

within the city ominously as it and we have Mami-san!!!

MAMI-SANN!!

MAMI-SAN!!!!

And Mami-san is essentially giving Homura the evil eye she's like what are you doing

here???

it kinda looks like uh both Mami and Homura are about to have some type of confrontation

and Mami-sans apparently looking for Sayaka so she realized that there's something's going

on and she's missing and she believes Homura has something to do with it um okay and Mami

Mami-san is very wise like she's able to figure out that there's something going on with Homura

I wonder if she's essentially getting her memories back here anyway it looks like Homura

in this manga has some kind of an ability which is making it so Mami's ribbons are not

having any effect I'm assuming that this is because this is taking places in Homura's

fabricated world now whats really interesting about this dialogue that I like is is Homura

is essentially saying do you intend to get in my way?

now what I really like about this is that this is actually this is actually translated

from the actual concept trailer of what Homura actually says I like what Mami says here I

don't know who you think you are but you picked the wrong person to try to intimidate and

I like what Homura says here no matter how much the world changes I can never seem to

get along with you in any case were continuing on and Homura is able to break free uh *annoyed

sigh* which is kinda this is kind of annoying but Homura broke free of Mami's ribbons somehow

and now we have Homura's Famil now we have Homura's familiars from her witch form that

are actually taking shape and actually uh targeting Mami who is essentially trying to

do her best to subdue them um but yeah so essentially there targeting Mami and Mami

unfortunately is being attacked uh I don't like how this is going I guess this is what

the ugly dark side of Madoka pears its head and Mami is now captured so essentially Homura

kind of having this mysterious answer uh which basically implies that she's no longer a magical

girl which we all basically we know we know she's suppose to be a demon and apparently

there's some weird blob and its behind Mami I don't know what this is that almost looks

like it could be a wraith so yeah apparently a wraith is actually getting behind Mami oh

god ohhhh whoa okie dokie so there's oh there's actually a wraith behind her oh god that's

really weird uh okay so Mami is being attacked by a wraith and Homura uh lets see...oh Aww

that sucks that sucks Mami-san its not fair oh boy so essentially Kyubey has been warning

people the dangers of Homura Akemi it would seem oh boy awww *groans sadly* oh damn I

don't like this this is...I don't like this.....I don't like this at all well whatever its not

fair Homura is cheating anyway you essentially have Sayaka now it goes without saying this

scene is very reminiscent to the concept trailer where you have Sayaka that is chained up this

version of Homura is not the same as the one that was fighting Mami oh and it also looks

like kyubey is here now this is pretty weird so we have this other version of Homura and

we have kyubey here as well to and he says this is not Homura Akemi very interesting

stuff so Sayaka's hate for Homura actually made her a target okay so the reason this

version of Homura existed in cause a wraith was actually able to adsorb homu um Sayaka's

hate for Homura and it was able to take form so apparently this version of Homura' that

were seeing is suppose to be an advance version of a wrath uh that was created because of

Sayaka and her hatred and kyubey actually taking advantage of it man what a little bastard

and he's still conducting his little experiments that's crazy having continuously adsorb the

hate of the wraith is beginning to multiple oh god now its actually multiplying after

adsorbing Sayaka's hate energy its multiplying soon they will form a legion and destroy the

irregular Akemi Homura so there like basically zombie versions of Homura that's insane so

essentially this is kinda kyubey's plain to over throw Homura in this world though even

though he's attempting to do this he still he's like a bad guy in his own right its like

you have Homura who is essentially up to no good and you have kyubey who also up to no

good but he doesn't like Homura and hes trying to create a situation where he can kind of

take her out and he's using Sayaka as a decoy and Sayaka is just like victim but it would

seem that Sayaka that Homura has appeared and I guess Homura's just destroyed the Wraith

oh my god look at how over powered Homura is in this manga all she does is twist her

finger and she destroyed kyubey and the wraith are you kidding me I get it your not here

to save me all you care about is Madoka yeah that's pretty accurate that's pretty accurate

and Homura doesn't really care about the other girls that much and lets see here that's right

just like I once told you everything is for her sake oh boy this is homura this is Homura

resolve that's actually showing right now I don't know this actually looks kinda hawt

the way that Homura Homura's kind of like gazing and Peering into Sayaka who looks like

she's in pain I'm totally getting like s and m vibes from this like interaction again um

you preserved your memory of the law of cycles in the form of your hatred for me I can not

let someone like that stand by her side so this is actually the part in the concept trailer

where you have if you guys remember that scene in the concept trailer where Sayaka has that

mask over her head uh you actua the same thing is actually happening here and you essentially

have uh her interacting with Homura like like it makes perfect since everything that we

saw in the concept trailer is actually being shown right here in relationship to Sayaka

that's crazy now it all actually makes since why this happened and how it actually happened

that's insane and Homura is like good night Sayaka oh my god it all makes perfect since

and of course you have Madoka same scene from the concept trailer where she's like in the

ballerina outfit and everything um so of course you have Homura who is essentially clapping

just like in the concept trailer praising madoka wonderful madoka just wonderful I have

some sad news for you miki Sayaka is unable to come just says it like its no big deal

oh god but its alright I am watching your ballet from now on always oh god so essentially

this is a version of a sequel were Homura were everything just kinda falls into her

favor I hope you guys enjoyed this fan made manga of the concept trailer um ya know as

i said I actually think that this is very accurate to how a sequel would go except I

don't think Homura would probably come out being the absolute winner I think that eventually

what happened to her uh what she did in the third movie is going to eventually catch up

to her but essentially this is someones interpretation in which Homura is essentially just wins uh

everything so yeah so that's basically how this particular story goes but let me know

what you guys think of this concept trailer manga and I'll catch you guys in the next

video peaceee out

Anne: Welcome, everybody, to the VO BOSS podcast.

I'm your host, Anne Ganguzza, along with my bestie, bosstie, amazing cohost, Gabby Nistico.

Hey, Gabby.

Gabby: Hi, hi.

Anne: So Gabby...

Gabby: Yeah?

Anne: I had an issue earlier.

[laughs]

Gabby: Iss-you?

What kind of iss-you?

Anne: I couldn't hear you.

Like this is like a constant –

Gabby: Mmm.

Anne: But because it was like my bad [laughs] my bad not clicking on the right button.

[laughs]

Gabby: Oops.

Anne: Yeah, I know, this tech girl over here.

I'd like to talk about tech today because I love tech, and I think it's something that

needs to be addressed in our businesses, because how do we survive if we don't have tech?

Gabby: Yeah, a tech talk is very important for today's voice actors.

Something struck me the other day.

Kids today know more about technology than we ever will, like ever.

Anne: Yeah, that's the truth.

Gabby: When I can watch toddlers play with an iPhone, that's impressive, to say the least.

When we were growing up, right, there weren't – the Internet didn't even exist.

Anne: It didn't.

We went outside and played.

Gabby: I know.

How archaic.

Anne: And then got our TV privileges taken away.

Gabby: Yeah, and TV only had five channels.

[laughs]

Anne: Exactly.

Oh my God, yes.

And you had to stand up and move to the television in order to change the channels on that dial,

if you remember.

Gabby: Correct.

There was a dial, and there was not a clicker –

Anne: Yeah.

Gabby: – as my dad would say.

Anne: [laughs] And now we're dating ourselves.

[laughs]

Gabby: Yeah.

Well you know, and there was the five-mile trek uphill in the snow.

Anne: [in old voice] Back in the day.

Gabby: [laughs]

Anne: [old voice] And there were 10 feet of snow.

Gabby: [laughs]

Anne: [old voice] I had to walk to school.

Gabby: OK, yes.

We're dating ourselves right now, and I know that we have listeners who are much younger

and the Internet has always been a part of their life.

Right?

Smartphones have always in a part of their life.

All of this technology that we now use on a day to day has not never existed in their

world.

Anne: Exactly.

Gabby: But there will come a point in time where they find themselves in our shoes, where

it's that next generation coming up that has some new technology that they've always been

accustomed to.

Anne: But Gabby, there's always not just the younger people than us, there's a whole lot

of people in the industry right now that are our age or older.

And they too I'm sure are finding the – a struggle, right, to keep up with all of this

tech.

Gabby: Yep.

Anne: And you know, I always have felt like I'm a little bit more of an exception in regards

to technology because I worked in it obviously for 20 years.

Gabby: You, you more so than anyone I know are in early adopter.

Anne: Yeah, I think it's because it was part of my career.

Gabby: The new gadget, the new toy, the new like thing, like you're very good at seeing

it and going, "oh yeah, that's going to be huge."

And then you incorporate that into not only your business but your life.

I on the other hand show my Sicilian roots and become like this antiquated hill person

who –

Anne: [laughs] "Antiquated hill person!"

Gabby: – lives in like a stone, you know, hut and refuses to embrace the new.

Anne: I love those people.

[both laugh]

Gabby: I'm still out there like washing my clothes on a rock, yes.

Anne: You know, it's funny.

The other day I went to my husband's office party, and it was the first time I met a bunch

of his coworkers, and for those of you that don't know, my husband is now working in the

field of AI, artificial intelligence.

So if you want to talk about feeling like a little technologically left behind, and

even myself –

Gabby: Oh wow.

Anne: You know, everybody working in that industry was younger, and I actually found

myself in deep conversation with a former CTO, chief technology officer, about technology

and where would we be as a society if we adopted technology sooner.

Because really I think one of the main issues is so many people fear technology, that they

push it, push it, push it, and if we all had a little more I guess openness, open-mindedness

about technology – for example artificial intelligence, there is a lot of pushback because

people think robots are going to take over the world, and they won't, I'm just saying

[laughs] or I'm quite sure that as a society we won't let that happen, but if we have,

if we could embrace technology more, think about where we would be as a society having

technology as our friend and using it to work for us.

Gabby: Well, the resistance comes from what people have been taught, and it's all based

on pop culture.

It's not factual.

It's not scientific.

Anne: True.

Gabby: There's no real data.

It's bull-[beep] from Hollywood movies and books that we think, right, there's going

to be some big uprising.

The machines are going to take over.

It's going to be some sort of industrial apocalypse.

Come on, guys.

Anne: [laughs] That's a really excellent point, Gabby.

That's exactly what it is.

Gabby: The story was different if technology was our friend as a child of the 80's, and

in the 80's there were a lot of really great movies that introduced technology in that

way as –

Anne: Oh yeah.

Gabby: – a friend.

I remember Johnny 5 and "Flight of the Navigator," and you know.

But somewhere along the line that changed.

Anne: Yeah, you're right.

How important is technology to our business?

Well, you know, how about if I just start by saying, number one, our industry is kind

of going through an evolution or revolution, who knows, what, how you want to see it, in

terms of digital online casting.

Right?

Technology has evolved such that we are now being cast online versus traditionally, where

we'd have to go in a studio and audition, and meet the casting director, et cetera.

A lot of this is now happening online, and that is all due to the evolution of technology.

And if you are not on board with that technology, then you're probably not going to go too

far forward in this industry.

Gabby: I remember distinctly a point in time where I could work a full eight-hour day with

zero dependency upon the Internet.

Now if the Internet goes down, I can't manage eight minutes.

Anne: Oh my gosh.

Gabby: That's it.

Anne: And studios.

Gabby: I'm done.

Anne: Home studios, Gabby.

Like it wasn't a requirement when I got into the industry.

It was just like, oh, it was a luxury and kind of a thing.

Gabby: No, and it cost a fortune.

So it was like, yeah, it was a very prestigious… to have one.

Anne: Now you can't live without your own home studio.

You just can't.

Gabby: No.

Something else that struck me the other day in thinking about this is about web development.

I don't know if everyone's aware that children now as young as elementary school age are

learning how to code, are learning how to build websites, and web technology, and algorithms,

and all of these things that there's a lot of voice actors out there who still struggle

with these things, who don't know how to maintain their own website, who are – so here's what

I find funny.

There's a lot of companies right now that I think thrive on the fact that people don't

have this knowledge.

Anne: Yes.

Gabby: And they're able to in essence exploit that by offering –

Anne: They're capitalizing.

Gabby: – a service that fills the gap, yeah.

Either way – but I mean, yeah, you're right.

But what's going to happen, as, as these kids grow up and they enter the workforce?

Wix.

Right?

I use Wix for all my websites.

I looove Wix.

Anne: So do I. I've changed, changed to Wix.

Gabby: But somewhere down the line – yeah.

Anne: Wix andWordPress.

WordPress – VO BOSS, by the way, is WordPress.

And everything else of mine now is Wix, and VO BOSS might turn into Wix soon.

Gabby: Somewhere down the line, WordPress and Wix will be obsolete because the new generation

will be able to build their own sites from scratch.

That will not be a skill anymore.

That's just a thing you know how to do.

Anne: Yeah, yeah.

Gabby: Isn't that amazing?

Anne: Or Wix, and I'm sure Wix and WordPress will evolve into another –

Gabby: They will evolve in some way, yeah.

Anne: It'll be like version – it will be software versions, right, because you know,

here's the deal.

I mean, every day they are improving.

Like how many – because I have both platforms, I know that WordPress, you can get, there's

a billion different plug-ins you can get for WordPress, and that's a good thing, and it's

also a bad thing because sometimes they don't play well with others.

By then on the other hand you've got Wix who definitely has the controlling option over

on their end where you are able to take advantage of their offering, so if you wanted to offer

a store on your website, you would have to go through Wix to do that.

With WordPress, you can get a plug-in that will do that.

And you can choose from many different ones.

There's lots of different options.

And I think the point that Gabby and I are trying to get at is that you should become

familiar with, first of all, the backend technology that's going to handle the front-end or the

front face of your business, and the more familiar you are with it, the better off you're

going to be, the more control.

How many times, Gabby, have I heard from a frantic student of mine that didn't have the

password to their website, didn't know how to change their bio, didn't know how to upload

their new demos?

Oh my gosh.

If I had a nickel for every time somebody said that to me, and I'm like "that is exactly

what you need to avoid."

Get some knowledge about your website, make sure you have your password, make sure that

that designer, before they pass it off to you, shows you how to get in, how to log in,

and how to make changes if you can.

Gabby: In the last year alone, I've talked probably half a dozen people who have had

their website hacked, and they have no way to retrieve it, no way to fix it, don't know

what to do.

And in many cases it is worse case scenario.

It's like their site has been overtaken by porn, and they are like, "oh my God.

What do I –" And I've had conversations with folks where I'm like, "well, contact

your registrar."

"My what?"

I'm like, "oh God."

They don't know who owns the URL, who has the hosting account.

They're clueless.

Anne: And the're clueless on how to find out.

Gabby: Mm-hmm.

Anne: So.

Gabby: Yeah.

Anne: And that is –

Gabby: And it's a big problem.

Anne: And having worked in IT and having the desk in IT as well, for many, many years,

and answering those phones, I can't tell you one instance – there's very rarely an

instance where people call up their tech support and say, "oh my God, you're doing a great

job.

Thank you."

Gabby: [sniggers]

Anne: Usually they're irate, they're frantic, they're panicked.

And myself included, if I have a tech issue and I'm panicked, like I know, I've been through

it.

Gabby: Sure.

Anne: I expect that person on the other end to help me and not like, not be rude.

I am in a very fragile state of mind when my technology doesn't work.

And so, you guys, I think that the more prepared you can be for a scenario when your tech doesn't

work – that means having a backup, right, have a backup Internet line, have a, have

your website backed up, make sure that you have that login and that password, and that

goes for anything, really.

I mean, what happens if you forget your password or you get hacked?

I think the other day, I got an email saying that somebody had logged into my Netflix account.

And I was like, hmm.

And from Indonesia, and I'm like –

Gabby: Oh, fun.

Anne: That wasn't me, but do you think that was somebody else?

Was I being hacked?

And to change my password.

Well, guess what, guys?

If you get something like that, don't click on the link, because sometimes that's a

spammer at work, having you click a link to change your password so that they can get

your password, but you can go to your website directly, right, in another browser, in another

window, and go to your account settings and change your password.

And that way you can keep yourself secure as well.

Gabby: We can't be gullible.

We have to have at least a basic education and please don't rule out, guys, going to

your local community college and taking some classes, because that will totally help you

get up to speed.

Anne: Oh yes, please.

For sure.

[laughs]

Gabby: And third [laughs]

Anne: [laughs]

Gabby: The technology is not out to get you.

Anne: No, it's not.

Gabby: There's no emotion.

It feels nothing.

It has no agenda, and as long as you remember that, you retain your control over what happens.

Anne: Gabby, this is the optimist in Anne speaking.

This is how I am able to be on board with technology, is because people are inherently

good and that technology should help us and not hurt us.

Now I'm not of course so naïve to think that there aren't things out there that can hurt

us.

Of course, you know.

I mean, we're talking, this could be a whole other podcast, but modern-day warfare.

You don't think hacking into systems [laughs] doesn't play a part in that, of course it

does.

And so I think the best thing you can do is to educated, as Gabby was saying, be educated,

be smart, be streetsmart, be Internet smart, be network, you know, digital smart, and understand

where things could possibly be not in your best interest, so don't trust it implicitly.

Like I said, don't click that link that's saying, "change your password here."

Be a little, you know, step back for a second, think about it, and get yourself educated

if you're not so that you can react smartly to your technology and make it work for you

and not against you.

Gabby: Oh God, yes.

And you know what, Anne, I'm going to be an optimist right there with you, and I'm going

to say that if you want to have all your faith in humanity restored via a story of technology,

just go look up the da Vinci robotic arm.

Anne: Oh yeah, absolutely.

Gabby: That's all you got to do.

Anne: Yeah.

Gabby: That piece of tech right there, that is humans using technology in the best way

possible.

Anne: The big thing about artificial intelligence is people are like, "no, it's going to take

away our jobs, right?

Artificial intelligence, we won't need humans anymore."

Well here's the deal.

If you can employ artificial intelligence in the health care industry, even like crime,

where it can search huge, huge databases at once and come back with comparisons and data

that can help you to do your job better, well then that's the plus.

That's the good side of tech.

If you're a cancer patient and you've got artificial intelligence searching millions

and billions of CT scans for a tumor that looks like yours, and that your doctor can

help to cure it faster, quicker, better, then that's the good part of technology.

That's what I'm on board with.

And that's the hope and the heart that I have for technology, and that's where I hope people

can get on board with technology, and use it for good.

Use it to build your business, think good things about it and don't be scared of it.

Gabby: That was the best medical narration I've ever heard.

That was amazing.

Anne: [laughs]

Gabby: That was amazing.

We're going to take that right there, and we're going to add it to your demo.

That was incredible.

Anne: Oh thank you.

[both laugh]

Anne: But it's so true, that's why the technology can be so good.

Don't be toxic toward the technology, right?

Gabby: Aww.

Anne: Use that technology right back to build your business, let's say better than that,

or use that to, you know, get yourself lots of online casting agencies that will help

you get work.

Gabby: Hey, one way or another, we don't have a choice.

Anne: Yeah.

Gabby: We have to move with it.

It's going to happen, so the faster you accept that and the faster you realize that

your business can thrive with technology, better off you're going to be.

Anne: Yeah, yeah.

Gabby: Speaking of tech, one of our favorite pieces of technology, I remember the day I

met Kevin.

Oh my God.

When I first heard about ipDTL, I was like, "this is the most brilliant thing I've ever

seen."

Anne: Oh yeah, I'm right there with you.

I still think that it's brilliant and –

Gabby: Oh, it is.

Anne: It's awesome, amazing technology.

Because this is what's connecting us, Gabby.

Think about it Again here's the positive.

You know, take that tech and spin the positive because that tech allows you and I, like oh

my God, I'm going get like verklempt, but it allows us, it allows us to be together

like all the time.

Gabby: So emotional.

Anne: Right?

I feel like I'm next door to you.

Just, like we're just having coffee.

We're talking, and oh, we happen to be recording, and here's the VO BOSS podcast while we're

at it.

[both laugh]

Gabby: So funny.

Anne: Right?

Gabby: You and I will actually hang up the phone in favor of ipDTL.

Anne: I know, right?

Gabby: We'd rather talk to each other over ipDTL than on our phones.

[laughs]

Anne: It's so, well it's true because gosh, we just sound great.

[laughs]

Gabby: We do.

Anne: We sound great over ipDTL.

Gabby: There's an intimacy that you cannot beat.

Anne: So true.

Gabby: And it makes everything else look obsolete by comparison.

Anne: So yeah, Kevin Leach, the brainchild behind ipDTL, thank you for allowing Gabby

and I to hang out [laughs] on a day-to-day basis pretty much, right, have our coffee

and have this wonderful, amazing time talking to one another, and recording it by the way,

and then letting you guys hear us.

[laughs] So it's the coolest thing.

Thank you, Kevin.

Shout-out to ipDTL, our sponsor.

1 Gabby: Stop.

Anne: All right, are you recording?

Gabby: Stop being Squirrel Anne.

Just stop it.

Anne: Squirrelanne.

Squirrelanne.

Gabby: Squirrelanne.

Anne: Squirrelanne.

Squirrel, squirrel, squirrel.

Gabby: I'm also a little bit snarfly still, so.

Anne: You sound good.

Gabby: If you say so.

I still feel like I sound like I'm underwater.

Anne: You sound a little husky.

Gabby: Hey, baby.

Anne: Hey.

Um are you recording?

Gabby: How you doing?

Anne: [laughs]

Gabby: Yeah.

2 Cliff: What is happening?

Gabby: Am I missing the fair?

Am I missing the state fair?

Cliff: Yes, the fair's going on right now.

Gabby: Damn it!

Damn it!

Cliff: And you're missing out on –

Anne: I love a good fair.

Cliff: – fried Twinkies –

Gabby: Damn it!

Cliff: – and fried Snickers.

Gabby: Oh my God.

So Anne.

Anne.

Anne: Wait, wait.

Gabby: Hold on, 'cause this is amazing.

Anne: Cliff.

Gabby: Anne, have you ever been to the Texas State Fair?

Anne: I have not, but I can only imagine.

Gabby: It is, it is the fair to end all fairs.

Like you never need to go to another –

Cliff: Bring about $250.

Gabby: – one ever.

Yeah, like dude, I had fried bacon.

Anne: Yeah.

Gabby: Fried bacon.

Anne: Deep fried, double fried.

Gabby: It was off the chain!

It was amazing!

Cliff: Oh my God, we had fried – um, not s'mores, samoas.

Gabby: Oh my God.

Cliff: The coconut chocolate –

Gabby: Oh God.

Cliff: – Girl Scout cookies.

Gabby: Oh dear Lord.

Cliff: Deep-fried with maple syrup and caramel and powdered sugar.

Gabby: Holy moly.

Anne: Oh my goodness.

Cliff: Yeah, it was unbelievable.

Gabby: Anne, the last time I was in Texas, oh, well not the last time I was in Texas,

but the last time I was at the state fair, was the year – OK, do you know about Big

Tex?

Do you know Big Tex?

Do you know this phenomenon?

Anne: I know, I know something of Big Tex.

Gabby: OK, so –

Anne: But explain just in case.

Gabby: Big Tex is, he's the mascot.

Anne: He's the guy, yes.

Gabby: He's like this –

Anne: Yeah, I know what he looks like.

Gabby: He's like this three-story animatronic –

Anne: Mm-hmm.

Gabby: – yeah, dude that's Big Tex.

So anyway, the year that I went to the Dallas state fair, the morning, the very morning

of the day I was going, Big Tex burned to the ground.

Anne: Oh no!

Gabby: And yeah, and Susan Bernard and her husband blamed me because, you know, the damn

Yankee came to town –

Anne: "Damn Yankee."

Gabby: – and I burned, I burned down Big Tex with my –

Anne: Oh my God.

Gabby: – Yankee, my Yankeeness.

Anne: Your Yankeeness.

Gabby: And uhh and then, yeah, and now he's back, he's back.

He's finally – it took years for them to rebuild him, but yeah, he's back.

3 Anne: Cliff has a long wire.

Gabby: Oh wow.

Anne: Cliff has a long wire.

Gabby: I like a man with a long wire.

Anne: A long wire.

Gabby: Just saying.

Anne: Should I put the jazz music on again so we can get ourselves in the mood?

Cliff: [sexy voice] Oh yeah.

Anne: Should – can we get [laughs]

Gabby: Wow.

4 Gabby: Tell Dianna to go away.

It's my time.

Anne: [indiscernible in background]

Gabby: Tell her to go away.

It's my time with Anne.

Anne: [laughs]

Gabby: Dianna and I fight for Anne's attention.

I want Anne love.

5 Anne: You're all being insightful and like,

telling me like deep –

Gabby: Aw thanks.

Anne: – insightful things in your text, and I was like, damn, Gabby.

[dog barking]

[both laugh]

6 Anne: And, and, and, and, and, um want to

start?

Are we ready?

Gabby: Yeah.

Cliff: Sure.

Anne: OK awesome.

Cliff: "Press one for" – no, that's your job.

[Anne and Gabby laugh]

Anne: "Thank you for calling."

Cliff: "Para español, marque dos."

Anne: [laughs]
