Today's Doodle pays tribute to an early leader of the disability

rights movement, Ed Roberts.

After contracting polio at age 14, Roberts was paralyzed from

the neck down.

He was confined to a special wheelchair with a respirator

during the day and slept in an 800-pound iron lung at night.

Despite his limitations, he continued his studies via

telephone hookup, attending in person a few hours a week.

His mom, Zona, encouraged him persevere despite the odds.

Roberts's activism began in earnest as early as high school,

when he was denied his diploma due to his inability to complete

Physical Education (PE) and Driver's Ed.

After petitioning, not only did he earn his diploma, he went on

to college, becoming the first student with severe disabilities to attend the

University of California, Berkeley.

There, he led other Berkeley students with severe disabilities in creating

the Physically Disabled Students Program, the first of its kind.Roberts

went on to earn his bachelor's and master's degrees in political science

from Berkeley, and later returned to lead the Berkeley Center for

Independent Living, which inspired many similar centers around the

U.S.

In 1976, Gov. Jerry Brown appointed him Director of the

California Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, and in 1983 he co-founded the World Institute

on Disability.

His mother Zona describes: "I watched Ed as he grew from a sports-loving

kid, through bleak days of hopelessness,

into self-acceptance of his physical

limitations as he learned what was possible for him to accomplish.

His years at UCB were great ones as he both enjoyed his college status

and got in touch with his leadership qualities.

He took great pleasure in watching people with disabilities

achieve greater acceptance."

Trina Testimony - Duration: 4:43.

how long have you been lashing for and

which course or courses are you

currently taking with Lash Tribe?

I've been lashing for a good

I think it's like seven and a half years

now around seven and a half and I've

done probably done 10 , this is probably

the 11 course. I am a bit of a course junky

yeah but I signed up for the business

and branding one because I have been doing a few

business courses but not one that's

specifically for lashes like I've done a

few that have for beauty and then some

that are really for I guess quite large

scale businesses and it's really hard to

try and get that to what my level of

businesses is at the moment yeah so yeah

I picked the business and branding one

because i really want to grow my

business routine. I'm trying to leave myself out

of it a little more so yeah that's why I

took this one. "What is the situation at

the moment? Do you have a salon?

Or are you working for someone?

It's a home salon..So I'm just looking to

looking to move out of home now, so

I've got one girl that works for me, I've

had four staff members three at any one

time and I've always just found a

balance between just the two of us like

she's the one that stayed with me the

longest. She's really good but i'm

looking to expand and obviously

want to grow my family and stuff

so i put a two year old at the moment so

just to make my personal life and

everything else a bit better as well

and i mean i don't think i would give it

up one- hundred percent i just don't

think I could do it i love it to much

to be able to like a hundred percent

give it all away but yeah, I still want to be

able of be flexible and you know when

you're in apppintments you can't be flexible and

I've got a young family

How I should be putting my business together

so I've only just started just add this

morning the branding section which is

the main section i was looking forward to

of your course and so I know there will be

a few tips in there but i'll pick up but

I've done so many things around

mission, the values all that sort of

stuff and I know all of that by actually

putting that into like colors and fonts

and what do my customers want to see and

all of that stuff I really struggle with

that. So going from a home business to

a salon is a completely different

environment and obviously i know the

aspect of trying to keep it as sort of a

warm inviting comfortable feeling... it's

going to be a lot harder to do in his

salon environment. Especially when

you've got more staff, so that's

something I'm very mindful of that I

need to be able to try and incorporate a

sense of that into my new salon, when

i get one.. but yeah I guess I started

really want to rebrand and I

don't like my logo anymore.. I think I've

really outgrown my website. " you know

there is a full web design building course

in the business and branding course by my web designer?

yes it's something that I really needed

to start getting me moving and start thinking

about things. It's really good that it's

in such a logical order that I can go

and skip parts you know if I don't

necessarily need that part right now I

skip to the part that I want to or need

to do and so that's been really

really good and you know I think like I you know I made a comment

on one of your videos. Even stuff that I know

already I still picked up tips from

pretty much every single video that

you've done.

oh and yeah and particularly the one

that you did as well on the like paypal

and all the different payment methods

and I was just actually watching

that one before and you know I've got

the little paypal machine and I've

researched like Square and all of that

sort of thing as well but then when I

actually like thought about it and I was

watching all the figures because you

know I was really just looking at the

comparisons

different rates and all of that and it

never actually sat down to think about

applying it to my business and what I earn

and how that's gonna work and whatever

else and so actually just sat down and

did that then and I was like, I was

talking about husband about it and I

said now I've gone and bought this paypal

machine and I'm not going to use it now....

【MUKBANG】 Pork Cutlets Mountain With Fried Shrimp & 6 Cups of Rice ! 4.2kg, 6167kcal [CC Available] - Duration: 5:17.

Hello its Kinoshita Yuka (Eng subs by ~Aphexx~) (Change font size color and transparency via the options menu)

So, today! tadaa using these pork katsu and fried shrimp I've made this pork pyrami~

a pork mountain...I've made this mountain of pork ~yup~

combining my fav's these pork katsu and shrimp into one feast

alrighty lets see how it was put together!

tadaa I've prepped 6 cups of rice and onto the rice my fav some sesame salt sprinkles

and then pile on a mountain of cabbage ~wait wait... its so light colored can you guys see it?~

its white on white.. here's our pork katsu and fried shrimp

lets start by arranging the pork first I've got 5 sirloin pork katsu pieces

arrange the katsu to go around the cabbage looks so delish

the fried shrimp are~ oh... its not in frame...

use a bamboo skewer to keep the shrimp upright tadaa its completed!

phew. I've used quite some skewers to keep them from toppling lets see how much it weighs...

without the bowl its 3.2kg and today I've got an additional 1kg of miso soup

with roughly 500g of cabbage I'm getting plenty of veggies with my meal today!

itadakimasu start by adding the sauce ~with sesame seeds~

the sauce is the best part of a pork katsu its so sweet and especially with this added sesame

I love freshly ground sesame you get from a pork katsu shop

I always grind up way more sesame than needed... ~this concludes today's presentation of "Sesame Talk"~

you often see tartar sauce served with fried shrimp I like that... I don't have any today however...

lets start with the shrimp since they're barely standing

tadaa ~looks delish~ such a fantastic looking fried shrimp

once you bite down to it the breading is so crunchy and the shrimp inside is so plump and delish

lets take a bit of rice with it as well

mmm it goes so nicely with sweet and tasty sauce

and now for the pork katsu its a piece of sirloin

its nicely marbled I love it

meat is so good! this tasty pork

and plenty of cabbage as well

spices are also a nice addition I wonder who it was who first thought up dipping these sorts of

things into these sauces? do they discover them from randomly sampling different things?

They somehow found the "BEST" pairing of sauce with food... Humans are amazing aren't we.... Yep..

the shrimp has toppled over

mmm this salt and sesame rice is so delish ain't it

rice is amazing in that all you have to do is tweak it just a bit by adding something small to make it taste so amazing

~... I'm saying everything is 'Sugoi' a lot today~ sugoi = wonderful/amazing

miso soup and rice is a great pairing I just came to this amazing realization now...

wonder why?

last bit of katsu itadakimasu

all done gochisosamadeshita

the pork katsu mountain was so very delish and it had that special look to it as well

it would be ideal for a birthday party for someone who loves pork katsu

~people who like pork katsu~ that pretty well describes everyone ... probably

it was so delish, this pork and fried shrimp, won't you all give it a try .... ~won't you give it a try sounds a bit weird~

everyone is eatin--...

.......

well... anyways.

and as always thanks for watching and if you liked this video please hit the like and subscribe buttons BAI BAI
