Video: Learning to accept other people's opinions - Duration: 3:44.

>> WELCOME BACK.

YOU MAY HAVE EXPERIENCED IT ON

FACEBOOK, MAYBE IN YOUR

WORKPLACE, MAYBE IN YOUR OWN

FAMILY.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT INTOLERANCE,

WHEN IT COMES TO OPINIONS.

DR. MICHELE ROSALYN IS HERE AND

HAS IDEAS WHEN IT COMES TO

ACCEPTING OTHER PEOPLES

OPINIONS.

>> THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME.

>> THIS COULDN'T BE MORE TIMELY.

>> THAT'S TRUE.

IT'S A VERY HOT TOPIC THESE

DAYS.

IT'S INTERESTING BECAUSE WHAT WE

SEE IS PEOPLE HAVE A HARD TIME

ACCEPTING OTHER PEOPLES

OPINIONS.

BUT WE SEE IT IN A POLARIZED

FORM.

THIS IS THINGS WE SEE A LOT OF

TIMES IN THE FAMILY BETWE

SPOUSES, AT WORK AND ALSO IN

POLITICS, WHERE PEOPLE TRULY

BELIEVE THAT WHAT IS THEIR

OPINION, THEY PERCEIVE TO BE AS

THE TRUTH, AS FACT.

AS THE TRUTH.

SO THEY SPEND A LOT OF ENERGY

TRYING TO CONVINC THE OTHER

PERSON OF WHAT THEY PERCEIVE TO

BE TRUTH.

THE REALITY IS THAT WE CAN LOOK

AT IT IS SOMETHING THAT IS A YIN

AND A YANG OF HUMAN INTERACTION.

YOU THINK A CERTAIN WAY, I THINK

A CERTAIN WAY.

THERE IS NO ULTIMATE TRUTH.

THERE MAY BE SOME TRUTH IN WHAT

YOU'RE SAYING, MAYBE SOME THINGS

IN WHAT I'M SAYING.

WE'RE WORKING TOWARDS A COMMON

GOAL.

SOMETIMES PEOPLE FORGET THAT.

>> AS MIDDLE GROUND BEEN LOST

ALTOGETHER?

HAVE PEOPLE LOST THE ABILITY TO

LISTEN TO ONE ANOTHER, TO HEAR

WHAT THE OTHER PERSON IS SAYING?

>> IN A WAY, BECAUSE WHEN YOU

GET VERY PASSIONATE, IT'S A

POLARIZED FORM OR CONSTANT

CHALLENGE IN ACCEPTING OTHER

PEOPLES OPINIONS.

IT BECOMES HARD TO LISTEN TO

WHAT THE OTHER PERSON IS SAYING.

I THINK SOMETIMES WHAT WE NEED

TO DO IS BE AWARE OF OUR OWN

BIASES, THAT THE FACT THAT WE

PERCEIVE THINGS TO BE A CERTAIN

WAY AND WE HAVE A NUMBER OF

PEOPLE WHO AGREE WITH US DOESN'T

MAKE IT AN ABSOLUTE TRUTH.

THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH.

AND WHEN TALKING TO SOMEBODY

ELSE, DOES THE DEEG REIN WHICH

YOU CARE ABOUT THAT OTHER PERSON

PLAY A ROLE?

FOR INSTANCE, IF I MEET A

STRANGER IN THE STREET AND WE

START TO GET INTO AN ARGUMENT,

HOW MUCH WEIGHT SHOULD I GIVE

THAT, VERSUS SOMEONE IN MY OWN

FAMILY, WHO I'M NOT READY TO X

OUT JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T

BELIEVE THE WAY I BELIEVE.

>> I THINK WE SHOULD EXERCISE

TOLERANCE IN LISTENING A

EMPHASIZING OF COMMON GOALS WITH

EVERYONE AROUND US.

I THINK IT STARTS AT HOME,

CONTINUES TO OUR WORK

ENVIRONMENT.

YOU MAY HAVE A VERY HARD TIME

DEALING WITH SOMEONE A WORK

THAT JUST PERCEIVES THINGS

DIFFERENTLY THAN YOU AND IN

POLITICS.

>> TIPS FOR MAKING SURE WE STAY

ON THE RIGHT TRACK WITH FOLKS.

WE'RE TAKING A LOOK AT SOME OF

THEM

ESTABLISH RESPECT FOR DIVERSITY

OF OPINION.

>> AND EMBRACE IT.

IT'S WONDERFUL THAT WE HAVE

DIVERSITY OF OPINIONS.

THERE'S A LOT TO LEARN FROM

PEOPLE AROUND US IF WE ACTUALLY

LISTEN RATHER THAN BE STU IN

OUR OWN OPINION.

AND TO CHECK OUR OWN BIASES NOT

TO THINK THAT WHAT WE PERCEIVE

TO BE THE TRUTH IS AN ULTIMATE

TRUTH.

THERE MAY BE SOMETHING TO WHAT

THE OTHER PERSON IS SAYING.

IT'S IMPORTANT TO LISTEN.

AND INCORPORATE THAT INTO OUR

PERCEPTION.

>> WE HAVE SEEN THIS A LOT ON

FACEBOOK TOO, WHERE PEOPLE WILL

SAY IF YOU THINK THIS, I'M NO

LONGER YOUR FRIEND.

>> IS THAT HEALTHY?

>> NOT AT ALL.

BECAUSE WE NEED THAT YIN AND

YANG OF INTERPERSONAL

RELATIONSHIPS, OF INTERPERSONAL

DISCUSSIONS OF YOUR OPINION, MY

OPINION.

THE BEAUTIFUL THING IS THAT

SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE IS WHERE

WE WANT TO GET.

WE WANT TO LOOK AT OUR COMMON

GOALS AND SEE HOW WE CAN TAKE

SOME THINGS FROM WHAT YOU'RE

SAYING, SOME THINGS FROM WHAT

Getting ready for tax season - Duration: 3:26.

ND BACK TO THE 40S BY

SATURDAY WITH RAI CHANCES.

>> IT IS TAX SEASON SO YOU CAN

START GETTING YOUR PAPERWORK

DONE.

THERE ARE THINGS TO KEEP AN EYE

ON AND KNOW THIS SEASON.

JOINING ME WITH MORE

INFORMATION, MARYLAND

COMPTROLLER PETER FRANCHO.

>> GOOD MORNING.

GREAT TO BE HERE WITH YOU.

>> IT'S TAX SEASON.

THAT'S WHAT EVERYBODY'S TALKING

ABOUT.

OTHER THAN THE SUPER BOWL TODAY.

>> THE T SEASON'S UNDER WAY.

WE'VE PROCESSED SEVERAL HUNDRED

THOUSAND RETURNS AND I ALWAYS

THANK MARYLANDERS FOR DOI THE

RIGHT THING, PAYING TAXES ON

TIME.

IT'S THE HONOR SYSTEM

WE'RE APPRECIATIVE.

WE HAVE A BIG EPIDEMIC OF TAX

FRAUD AND IDENTITY THEFT.

I'M HERE TO WARN PEOPLE TO BE

VE CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR SOCIAL

SECURITY NUMBER.

DON'T GIVE IT AWAY TO PEOPLE.

MAKE SURE TO GET YO TAXES IN

ON TIME AND YOU'RE VERY

VIGILANT, BECAUSE WE'RE TRYIN

TO PROTECT PEOPLE FROM TAX

FRAU BUT THE THIEVES ARE

ALWAYS UPPIN THEIR GAME.

WE STARTED PROSECUTING SOME OF

THE THIEVES BECAUSE WE'RE

FINALLY CATCHING THEM, AND I'M

VERY PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO

REPORT THAT WE'RE GOING TO BRING

SOME OF THESE PEOPLE TO JUSTICE.

>> ALL RIGHT.

WELL, FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE

STARTING, HAVEN'T PUT THEIR

PAPERWORK IN YET, WHAT SHOULD

THEY WATCH OUT FOR THEMOST?

>> THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS

PROTECT YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY

NUMBER.

IF SOMEONE SENDS YOU AN EMAIL

FROM WORK SAYING PLEAS EMAIL ME

YOUR W2 FORM O GIVE ME YOUR

SOCIAL MEDI

SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, DON DO

IT.

IN

EVEN IF IT SOUNDS OFFICIAL.

IF THE IRS EVE CALLS YOU FOR

YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER,

DON'T GIVE IT.

NEVER, NEVER GIVE IT VOLUNTARILY

OVER THE PHONE BECAUSE THAT

INFORMATION IS BEING HACKED INTO

ALL OVER THE PLACE.

WE READ ABOUT THAT.

BUT THEN IT'S BEING SOLD T

THIEVES.

THEY'RE FLOODING MY AGENCY WITH

FRAUDULENT TAX RETURNS.

WE'RE HEADING A LOT OF IT OFF.

WE'RE GETTING TWO AND A HALF

BILLION DOLLARS BACK IN REFUNDS

WITHIN LESS THAN THREE BUSINESS

DAYS FOR EACH ONE SO WE'RE

GETTING PEOPLE BACK THEIR

REFUNDS.

BUT WE'RE ALSO HEADING OFF THE

FRAUDULENT RETURNS, BUT WE'RE

GOT TENS OF THOUSANDS OF THEM,

AND IT'S ABIG, AS I SAID,

EPIDEMIC THAT'S HAPPENING ALL

OVER THE COUNTRY.

BUT THE MAIN THING IS WORKING

WITH ATTORNEY GENER BRIAN

FROSH AND U.S. ATTORNEY ROD

ROSENSTEEN AND WE'RE BEGINNING

PROSECUTE SOME OF THE THIEVES

THAT ARE TRYING TO STEAL FROM

THE STATE.

THAT'S AN IMPORTANT DETERRENT

BECAUSE OTHERWISE THERE'S N

ACCOUNTABILITY.

THERE'S NO PEOPLE -- ALL WE DO

IS TURN DOWN THEIR FRAUDULENT.

WE NEVER ARREST THEM.

NOW WE'RE STARTING T ARREST

THEM AND THOSE INDICTMENTS, I

THINK, ARE GOING TO BE HELPFUL.

>> W HOPE IT BECOMES LESS OF A

PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE, RIGHT?

>> I THINK IT WILL BE.

AND THEN JUS SPEAKING ABOUT

BREAKS FOR CONSUMERS, WE HAVE A

TAX-FREE WEEKE COMING UP THE

WEEKEND AFTER NEXT, AND A OF

THE ENERGY EFFICIENT APPLIANCES

THAT ARE SOLD IN THE STATE OF

MARYLAND, AVOID THE 6% SALES

TAX.

THERE ARE ALL SORTS OF OTHER

DISCOUNTS PUT ON BY THE

MANUFACTURERS AND BY THE

RETAILERS.

IF YOU NEED A NEW FURNACE OR Y

NEED A NEW AIR CONDITIONER OR

SOMETHING LIKE THAT IS CORRECT

THE BIG STUFF, BOY, THIS IS THE

TIME TO DO IT.

IT'S THE 18th, 19th AND 20th OF

FEBRUARY.

>> YOU SEE THE GRAPHIC.

INFORMATION FOR YOU, SO

IMPORTANT.

TECH TIP: How to Create a New Gradebook Item - Duration: 3:11.

[music]

Hello, my name is Jeff Isen and I teach International Relations and AP Comparative Government at Boston Latin Academy.

Today we'll learn how to add a new gradebook item to SIS.

First, we'll make sure you have created grading categories, then we'll add a new

gradebook item in two different ways; through the gradebook itself and through the calendar.

To enter a new item via the gradebook, open up the gradebook for the class you are working

with by clicking on the appropriate 'Grades' icon on the home page.

You need to have created categories in your gradebook before you can enter new items into it.

We won't cover how to make categories in this video, but you can check if you have

them by clicking on 'Categories' in the left hand column.

Assuming you've created categories, you can now start to add gradable items to your gradebook.

Click on the 'Add...' button located at the right-hand side of the gradebook.

In the pop-up menu, select your grading category by clicking on the hourglass and selecting

the appropriate category from the menu.

Then, give your assignment a short 'column name;' make it brief so that you can easily

identify it in the columns of your gradebook.

You can provide a more detailed name in 'Assignment name.'

Click on the calendar icons to select when you want to assign the item to your students,

and when you want it due.

You will then assign the point value of the assignment and the weight it will have in

its particular category.

In the 'Options' categories, you can choose to assign extra credit points, grade entry

method (numbers or letters), visibility (public or private), and the grade scale.

The Grade Term will automatically set to the time period you are in.

You can also set recurring options.

You can add files to the assignment at the bottom, or add text to it by selecting 'Portal

Description' and entering whatever instruction you choose.

When you are done, click 'Save,' and it will appear chronologically in your gradebook.

The other method to enter a new gradebook item is through the calendar.

Simply click on the 'Planner' tab on the top bar, click on the day you want the assignment

due, select 'Add Assignment' from the drop-down menu, and follow the instructions above.

The only additional step is that you will need to select your class using this method.

When you create a gradebook assignment straight from the gradebook the class is automatically selected.

If your classes are linked, then the item will be created in all of your gradebooks.

Try Not To Sing Along (EggXtreme Challenge)| Erick Cameron - Duration: 9:22.

Whats up everybody welcome back to my

channel where all you do is laugh smile

and cheer. I hope everybody's having

an amazing day today and if you're not I hope

this video make it better! So what am I doing for today

guys. I'm going to be doing the 'Try not to

sing along challenge."

I know, that's like a mouthful right?? I'm

taking this a little bit over the top

because I like to be a little

overboard and... every time I do sing

or I happen to. Even a peep, if a peep

comes out. I'm smashing one of these (Egg) on my head.

So now this is like something that's

become really really popular, like in the

past 4-5 days where it's just like.

"Do it, do it, do it." So

I was like 'Oh might as well do a little bit something

different." You know? Alright so let's get

started.

So this one is "If you sing you lose

top 2017 songs." Alright, let's go!

15 songs you love.

Oh, this is going to be so hard

Oh my god, these are awesome songs!

What do you mean, oh my god that was so freakin' un-called for.

It was, they're just addictive songs.

Oh shoot, oh no. Why, all the time! So let me take off

my hat because I want to ruin it.

Should I just smash it?

Oh my god, I have my really good jeans on.

Tthat was not smart of me. That was not

smart of me at all.

Well, my jeans gotta' get washed now.

Let's try not to do that again, okay? Well, two minutes
