10 Actors Who Could Have Been A Marvel Superhero! - Duration: 7:32.

At this point, it honestly seems like every actor in the world has made his or her way

into a Marvel movie at one point or another.

Between the X-Men franchise, the ever-expanding MCU and independent Marvel hits like Deadpool,

there is no shortage of roles available for willing actors.

For this video, we are taking a look at some actors who were almost in Marvel movies, but

ultimately missed out.

Here is our list of 10 Actors Who Were Close To Being A Marvel Superhero.

Enjoy this video and be sure to subscribe to Screen Rant for awesome new videos, every

single day!

Emily Blunt – Black Widow For years there have been rumors swirling

about Emily Blunt finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but as of now – she

still hasn't.

The closest that the Edge Of Tomorrow actress ever came was when they were casting the role

of Black Widow.

Both Blunt and Marvel wanted her for the role and plans were already in motion for her to

debut as the character in Iron Man 2.

Unfortunately she was contractually obligated to turn it down and instead work on the regrettable

movie, Gulliver's Travels.

Lucky for Marvel fans, Scarlett Johansson is fantastic as Black Widow, but we're sure

people still wonder what it would have been like if Emily Blunt had kept it.

Jake Gyllenhaal – Spiderman The story of Jake Gyllenhaal almost becoming

Spiderman is definitely a weird one, as this casting almost happened for Spiderman 2, when

Tobey Maguire had already played the titular hero in the original movie.

Gyllenhaal was seriously considered for the role due to the fact that Maguire had actually

seriously injured his back while filming Seabiscuit.

The studio was unsure that Maguire would be able to reprise the role of Spidey, and Gyllenhaal

seemed to be their answer.

In the end, Tobey Maguire and the filmmakers were able to work out a plan and Jake Gyllenhaal

was let go.

This re-casting would have definitely been unique, but we are happy it didn't happen.

Liam Hemsworth – Thor But wait, isn't Liam the brother of Chris

Hemsworth, who actually plays Thor?

That's right, before Chris landed the role of the Asgardian God it was actually his younger

brother Liam who was the front-runner to wield the hammer.

The even crazier thing is that the studio's second choice after Liam was none other than

Tom Hiddleston, who of course plays Loki in the film.

Somehow Chris was able to convince the studio heads that he was the right Hemsworth for

the job.

We think that his Thor-like blonde hair and incredible physique definitely helped his

cause in beating out his brother for the part.

Tom Cruise – Iron Man Robert Downey Jr is absolutely iconic as Tony

Stark in the MCU, but it turns out that RDJ wasn't actually the first choice for the

role.

Years before the world ever got to see Iron Man, the studio was actually targeting a different

leading man, Tom Cruise.

In the mid 2000's Cruise was a true superstar, whereas Downey Jr was somewhat of a black

listed actor.

The studio tried to secure Cruise for the role, but the actor finally decided to pass

on the part.

This is the definition of a blessing in disguise as RDJ's Iron Man has been the most important

and iconic character in the entire MCU.

Russell Crowe – Wolverine Russell Crowe has a pretty stack filmography

with roles in movies ranging from Gladiator to Les Miserables.

The actor has even played a part in DC's Man Of Steel as Jor-El, but one thing Crowe

is yet to do is star in a Marvel movie.

As it turns out, Crowe almost made his Marvel movie debut back in 2000 as he was actually

in talks to play Wolverine in the X-men movie before the filmmakers decided to go with Hugh

Jackman.

Looking back it's hard to imagine anyone but Jackman in the iconic role and it's

hard to know how Crowe would have done.

One thing is for sure, if he had taken on the role of Wolverine, he would have had to

whip his body into much better shape!

Ronda Rousey – Captain Marvel Ronda Rousey is one of the most famous MMA

fighters of all time and with her incredible physique and fighting ability she's somewhat

of a real world superhero.

Rousey doesn't have an extensive acting history, but she has made it known that she

would be interested in adding a Marvel role to her filmography.

When Marvel announced that they would be making a Captain Marvel movie, Rousey was sure to

let it be known that she would be all in for playing the titular character.

Unfortunately for the fighter, Marvel has announced that Brie Larson will be taking

on the role but that doesn't mean that Rousey can't land a Marvel role some time in the

future.

John Boyega – Black Panther Along with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega is right

at the helm of the new Star Wars trilogy and with the success of 2015's The Force Awakens,

Boyega truly became a worldwide star seemingly over night.

When Marvel announced that it would be making a Black Panther movie, reports started surfacing

that Boyega would be joining the cast.

Unfortunately, the actor shut down these rumors but he did let people know that he actually

wanted to play the T'Challa before Marvel decided to cast Chadwick Boseman.

Boyega is a young and rising star so it wouldn't surprise us if he ended up in a Marvel movie

at some point.

John Krasinski – Captain America Other than Iron Man, Captain America is the

biggest star in the MCU and Chris Evans has been brilliant in the role for years.

It's hard to imagine someone else throwing Cap's shield but it turns out the funny

man John Krasinski actually nearly landed the role.

Marvel has keen on Krasinski and even had him screen test with the suit on, but in the

end they decided to take the casting in a different direction.

Krasinski has been a good sport about the decision and has even joked about losing his

spot in the MCU to men with better bodies.

These days, Krasinski is looking pretty ripped to we wouldn't be surprised to see him in

a super suit some time soon.

Johnny Depp – Doctor Strange Marvel's 2016 magical superhero movie, Doctor

Strange, was a critical and box office hit and Benedict Cumberbatch brought some serious

acting chops to the lead role.

Cumberbatch looks like he is here to stay but it is pretty common knowledge that he

was not Marvel's first choice for the character.

Studio heads were actually very keen on casting Johnny Depp in the role in hopes that he would

bring his quirky character acting skills to the MCU.

On top of Depp, the studio heads were also heavily considering Joaquin Phoenix for the

titular role.

In the end, both Depp and Phoenix turned down the offer and Marvel was stuck offering the

role to Cumberbatch.

Margot Robbie – Fantastic 4 In the summer of 2016, the whole world fell

in love with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn in the DCEU movie, Suicide Squad.

There is no denying that she is absolutely perfect in the part, but some fans may not

know that she almost played a very different superhero movie character.

When Marvel was planning to reboot Fantastic Four, the filmmakers wanted Robbie for the

role of Sue Storm.

After disliking the script, Margot Robbie decided to pass on the role and hold out for

a comic book movie role that suited her better.

She's probably very happy with her decision as Fantastic Four was an absolute nightmare

and although Suicide Squad was met with very mixed reviews, her Harley Quinn was a hit!

So there you have it, there's our list of 10 actors who were close to being a Marvel

superhero.

How The Measles Vaccine Protects You From Other Deadly Diseases - Duration: 3:04.

Your immune system might not be sentient, but it can get amnesia.

Sort of.

It's pretty neat, and also scary.

Hello everyone, a happily measles-free Amy with you on DNews today.

Since 1968, we've been immunizing kids for measles, with the same vaccine we use today.

But, as more and more kids got vaccinated, scientists noticed something weird.

There was a significant drop in deaths from measles, which was expected, but also a drop

in deaths from other infectious diseases.

And no one knew why… until now!

A paper in the journal Science looked at monkeys that had measles and found their immune systems

had a sort of amnesia after being infected.

This "immune amnesia" caused a years-long disabling of the immune system against other

diseases.

See, our immune system is made up of organs, cells, and proteins that together protect

the body from harmful organisms.

When a foreign cell with an antigen -- a protein on the surface of bacteria, fungi and viruses

-- enters the body, the immune system reacts to fight it, protecting the body from illness.

We get sick when your immune system meets a pathogen it hasn't encountered before.

But when it meets a familiar pathogen, it binds with the antigens on it's surface

and the body can fight off the disease.

Your immune system gets weak when you're sick, but it bounces back imbued with a memory

of the disease it fought.

Now, if the same pathogen enters the body a second time, you can fight it off.

This is why your mom might have encouraged you to play with your friend who had the chicken

pox.

Once you get it, your body has the defence for it and you won't get it again!

But the measles changes this whole behaviour!

For some reason, immune systems in people with the measles lose any memory of how to

fight other diseases.

Once the immune system bounces back, the new, regenerated white blood cells only remember

the measles; they have no memory of other diseases the body previously fought!

And that's why the measles vaccine helps protect against other diseases!

We've seen this play out before.

That same paper in the journal Science compared child mortality rates in the US, UK, and Denmark.

Using a complex statistical model, they found that in all three countries the rise in infectious

diseases -- specifically pneumonia, diarrhoeal diseases, and meningitis — matched rates

of immune amnesia following measles; that "immune amnesia" lasted on average for

27 months.

So, for more than two years after contracting measles, kids were more susceptible to potentially

deadly diseases.

Rates of infectious disease were linked to measles cases so strongly the team was able

to correlate childhood mortality rates with measles outbreaks.

What does this mean?

Well without the vaccine, if you get chickenpox when you're 4, then measles when you're

5, you're susceptible to chickenpox again for another two years!

For young kids, this can mean exposure to measles in a 2 year old can reset the immune

system to that of a newborn, leaving the toddler at risk to other potentially life-threatening

diseases.

Today, the measles has been almost eradicated in the United States in the last half century,

taking other diseases with it.

So... do you need another reason to vaccinate against measles?

But does this mean you should expose your kids to measles?

We talked about measles parties in this video right here.

So anyone out there get measles and other nasty complications?

miss an episode of DNews.

Does Insurance Pay For Hearing Aids and Cochlear Implants? - Duration: 5:04.

(marker pen scratching)

(Pokemon game sound)

So I have a guest speaker on my channel today.

This is a topic about hearing aids,

cochlear implants, and insurance.

Why insurance will cover cochlear implants,

but they won't cover hearing aids.

Now I don't have any actual experience with this

because I've never worn hearing aids,

I don't have a cochlear implant,

they were too expensive for me, blah blah blah.

And I have no interest in a cochlear implant.

But my friend Amanda has grown up with hearing aids,

and currently has a cochlear implant.

She is here to tell her story.

I wanted someone who knows the drill,

who lives the life to tell you the story,

rather than just here's the facts.

So, without further ado here is Amanda.

Hey everyone, my name is Amanda McDonough,

and I am an actor, who happens to be deaf.

Now, I grew up hard of hearing.

I started losing my hearing when I was four years old.

And I started using hearing aids when I was seven years old.

At that time back in the '90s...

(laughs)

We didn't have the option of insurance companies

paying for hearing aids and I needed two.

Two hearing aids, one for each ear.

And so my parents had to pay themselves,

for my hearing aids growing up.

And I used hearing aids from the time I was seven years old

all the way 'til the time I was 22 years old.

That's a lot of hearing aids.

Now when I was growing up, hearing aids cost

roughly $2,000 to $4,000 for one.

One hearing aid.

And I was using two.

That is a lot of money.

Especially because I was changing and getting new

hearing aids as technology changed,

as my hearing loss changed,

as I broke them,

I went through a lot of hearing aids.

Now, when I was 22, I had lost

so much of my hearing

that I couldn't even utilize hearing aids anymore.

They couldn't help me anymore.

So I started looking into information

on cochlear implant surgery.

And I decided, as a 22 year old, that I wanted to have

one cochlear implant put in.

Just to help me communicate a little bit better,

and to help me understand my surroundings.

Because I had no access to sound at all.

I was 100%, 100% fully deaf.

In both ears.

So I had cochlear implant surgery,

and at that time I was with an insurance company

called Blue Cross.

And they did pay for the entire surgery,

and the outside processor.

It wasn't easy to get them to pay for it.

We had to fight just a little bit to make sure that happened

but they did pay in the end for everything.

Now due to certain circumstances

I had to have a second surgery on the same cochlear implant,

and I had that done with a different

insurance company called Kaiser,

and they paid for the whole surgery,

and the outside processor the same.

Um, so yeah, I think something that insurance companies

really need to understand about hearing aids,

is they are not a vanity item.

We don't wear them because they're beautiful.

We need them, especially as a little kid,

growing up with hearing loss,

I needed, I depended on those hearing aids,

to help me get through school.

To help me communicate.

To help me make friends.

To help me understand my surroundings.

To understand when danger was near.

This is not something that I used for fun.

It was not fun to wear.

It's necessary for, for life.

It's a tool that we use for life.

Same things with cochlear implants.

They're a tool to help us have a better life,

to communicate better and to understand

what's happening around us better.

So I hope that insurance companies in the very near future

will understand that about hearing aids.

Alright, thank you so much for listening to my story.

Bye, guys!

RIKKI: So thank you very much Amanda,

for sharing your story with us.

I very much appreciate it,

and I'm sure the viewers do as well.

Amanda is also a YouTuber so I will have her link down below

so you can subscribe to her channel.

That's it.

I do plan to have other guest speakers on here.

That's currently a work in progress.

Activate Comments Notification Again - YouTube Insight #84 [DE] - Duration: 3:34.

If you were wondering in the past days, why you've got so little comments on you're videos, well it might be that you've just missed them.

YouTube is re-doing the notification bell, this one up here.

And because of that, not all new comments have been listed there, but I can show you how to fix that right after the intro.

With that said, hello and good evening YouTube to YouTube Insight ep. 84.

I recently saw on twitter, that some people were complaining, that they don't see 80% of the comments on their videos.

And I have to agree with that, because I noticed as well, that I got comments, that I didn't see in the notifications up here.

If we take a look here we can see, that the design of the notifications changed a bit.

Also there are many entries in here, that I don't really want, like live notifications, video notifications, and so on.

We just want to focus on the comments notifications for now.

So like this one, an answer to one of my comments, or this one on my recent video, and so on.

Notifications like these were missing in this list.

If there missing for you as well, it's easy to fix. Just go into the settings with the little gear icon,

and you end up on this page, for the settings for all the notifications YouTube is offering.

For the comments notifications, there is one important section, which is also labeled "Comments & Activity".

One of the entries there is "Activity on my videos and my channel", and this is for the comments under your videos and on your channel page.

Just make sure that the box in front of it is checked, and you get a notification when a new comment is posted.

This notification will show up in the notification bell area up here,

as well as a desktop notification if you have activated these, and also on your phone.

The second important entry here is "Activity on my comments on others' videos",

and these are all answers to comments you posted under other videos.

In other news, if you want to clean up this list and exclude things like recently uploaded videos,

then I have to disappoint you a little bit, since you have to deactivate the notifications for each channel individually.

But this also would mean, that you don't get notifications on your phone any more.

While YouTube is offering an overall setting for those channel notifications,

I can only choose between a push notification and an email notification, but the bell is neither of it.

So I would have to deactivate all notifications, which is not what you want when activating notifications for a specific channel.

But that's it for now, just make sure that both boxes under "Comments & Activity" are checked.

Then you should get notified about all the comments in the bell again, and don't have to go into the community section of the YouTube studio.

Yeah, that's it for this quick tip.

I hope this helped you and was informative.

If you don't want to miss tips in the future, just click up there to subscribe.

Or check out these two older videos on the left and right.

And yeah, that's it for this quick tip, we see each other in the next video, until then, ciao!

Extended First Look: The Clock Resets | Season 1 | 24: LEGACY - Duration: 7:13.

Six months ago, US Special Forces

launched an assault killing Bin-Khalid

and his terrorist organization.

Six heroes who risked their lives to stop

Bin-Khalid from carrying out his threat to attack this country.

The title is so apropos, "24 Legacy."

you have the iconic "24" with a lot of suspense and action

in a new environment with different characters.

There's no previous knowledge of "24" required

to get into this story.

There's some kind of attack coming.

Thousands of people could die.

We wanted to play off the idea of people who are here

and have been radicalized.

"24 Legacy" is a very contemporary threat

and a very contemporary hero.

Everything that's happening, it's all me.

Eric Carter is a more raw, more emotional protagonist.

He's a bit of an everyman.

And he has a lot to lose.

We got a future here.

So we should start acting like it.

Nicole is married to Eric.

He's ready to have a baby, but she's not so sure.

Because she's concerned about his mental health.

In Eric Carter you have a character

who's a former Special Forces soldier, who led the squad that

killed an infamous terrorist, who's come back from the war

and is having trouble not being at war.

Eric hasn't been right ever since he got back.

I realized it's not PTSD.

He misses it.

All these Rangers were living under new identities

because of the mission that they were involved in.

Then Khalid's people found us.

You've got to call CTU.

Man, what are you talking about?

I'm not making this up.

This is happening.

So at the top of "24 Legacy," all of Eric's squad are dying.

And he very quickly realizes that he is next.

[scream]

When this situation happens, Eric Carter

calls me, Rebecca Ingram.

We're blown, the whole squad.

What?

Bin-Khalid's people found us.

Rebecca, who was the former head of CTU, masterminded this

mission to take out Bin-Khalid.

Rebecca is the wife of John Donovan

who's running for president.

And that collides on this particular day dramatically.

It just ups the ante.

Whatever's going on over there,

it's not your job anymore.

As soon as I can explain it--

No.

I want you to explain it now.

I can't.

Not over the phone.

She, uh, can't make it.

John, we built the event around Rebecca.

I play the role of Nilaa Mizrani.

I am managing Senator John Donovan's

campaign to become president.

She's very smart and strong, which, as a female,

I was very happy to play.

Another really interesting thing about her is that she's Muslim.

The creators of the show wanted to represent a Muslim character

who is just also an American character

who really believes in politics and believes

in Senator Donovan.

Look, I may be overstepping, but I have to ask.

Is Rebecca having second thoughts

about giving up her career?

You're right.

You're overstepping.

All of these things are coming into play.

And it just makes for a high-paced,

high-octane situation.

This isn't payback.

They're looking for strongbox they say one of us

stole from Bin-Khalid's compound.

Ben must be the one who took it.

Why?

Why would he do that?

The war really messed him up.

Ben Grimes, having sort of slipped into drug addiction

and his history of PTSD, grabbed that strongbox,

realizing that there was money inside the container.

And it turns out there was a lot more than just

money in the strongbox.

I'll have Keith Mullins try to track him down.

No.

Three people had access to our new names--

the directors of CIA, NSA, and CTU,

which is now Keith Mullins.

Mullins was her protege.

Rebecca is transitioning him to become the new leader.

But it's a little clear that she's not quite ready to let

go of her position.

Ready to dive back in?

Actually something just came up with John's campaign.

Is there an office I can use for a little while?

Yeah.

Take the conference room.

Thanks, Keith.

Sure.

She's worried about the leak and how that happened.

So she has to work within the CTU

without telling anybody it's CTU,

except for her a trusted analyst Andy.

What are you saying?

I'm saying that it's possible Keith gave up the Rangers.

What if you're wrong about this?

I'm not.

And what happened to those Rangers--

it's just the start of something worse.

I am a computer expert who has worked

at CTU for several years.

The Counterterrorism Unit, otherwise known as CTU,

is a Homeland Security-type headquarters

in Washington that monitors everything

that's going on in the country.

CTU has its own past.

And I'm trying to build something that is new,

but it's also, for the fans, has a feeling of the past.

And that's really been important to me.

Kind of an underground environment,

one that's secretive, of course, but also

with a lot of strength around it, a lot of exposed concrete.

I designed it so that you're always looking from one place

into another.

So it breathes, and it's alive.

Carter, Brian's just got on the number 13 bus heading

east, towards Union Station.

OK.

Nicole, there may be an attack.

Baby, I need to do this.

If Nicole's name goes into the system, she can be found,

she can be killed.

The only person that he trusts is his brother.

But that means going back and opening

up that part of his life.

Eric, what is this?

I'm getting you safe.

Isaac is a major drug trafficker.

Eric used to work for him.

And he fell in love with Nicole who was

Isacc's girlfriend at the time.

What the hell are you doing here?

It's people who are trying to kill me.

What's that got to do with me, though?

These men are terrorists, Isaac,

and they're going to kill a lot of people.

I have to try and stop them.

First I need to make sure Nicole is safe.

Great. So go ask your government.

- I can't. - Why not?

'Cause someone in the government's working

with the terrorist.

It's probably the last place in the world I want to be,

but I also know that it's the only safe place.

No one can know where she is.

These people after me, they're serious.

So am I.

And so Eric and Rebecca are thrust back into the action

and literally racing the clock.

[heartbeats] - I'm moving in.

[beeps]

The clock is the heartbeat of the show.

It's the thing that really propels us.

You're looking at multiple things happening

on screen at the same time.

And you have the storyline happening in real time.

And the fact that the entire season takes

place in one crazy day adds a level of edge-of-your-seat

excitement.

That dynamic lives inside each episode of "24."

There will be attacks all over this country.

Do you understand me?

It's fun to play, too.

Because, as an actor, you don't have time to act.

When the director calls action, it literally is go time.

I think it makes it even more exciting

because you see these characters having

to make decisions really fast and dealing

with the repercussions.

The twist and turn are just constant.

You never know who's good.

You never know who's bad.

We go through, in one episode, what would normally take

a whole season on another show.

This action-packed, suspenseful,

surprising, shocking story that's just nonstop.

Once that clock starts ticking,

you are literally on the edge of your seat.
