Alright guys, today we're gonna react to Cyberchase.
And I'm really excited because this was something that I used to watch when I was a kid,
and it's all about math! And solving adventures using math!
And it's really cool, so let's watch it!
Cyberchase! I remember this!

This is the show where we get excited about math!
Cyberchase! Alright, here we go.
Let's see what's going on today, in Cyberchase.
"The moment he's been waiting for"
Obviously the villain.
Hey, I remember these guys. These are, like, the evil helpers.
Why are his lips so red and big?
And this guy is, like, green.
Oh yeah, they're trying to defeat Motherboard. That's what they're trying to do.
Yeah, there we go. Motherboard.
DIGIT: ...not safe, come on.
Not safe, come on!
That bird.
Hacker alert.
JACKIE: We're here.
Alright. They're there. Okay. I see.
Is that, like, a touchscreen?
We have a lot of those now.
Noo! The icons--the dots are gonna...
touch.
No! We can't have dots touching each other in the world.
What is going on? Is Hacker doing his job right?
Is he defeating Motherboard?
Noooooo!
MOTHERBOARD: Hacker has launched a virus.
Oh. Hacker's launching a virus.
Oh, no! Motherboard.
Motherboard's gonna be dead soon.
Noo! What is Hacker doing?
Oh my God! The doctor's, like, been captured by Hacker!
What are they gonna do?
DIGIT: What are we gonna do?
Hey, that's exactly what I said! The bird repeated what I said!
MOTHERBOARD: I am Motherboard.
I-am-Mother-board!
JACKIE: She's probably FBI!
FBI?
Wow, the computer knows their names. That's pretty impressive.
They're gonna go to cyberspace.
Whoa!
Yay!
It's a place with beautiful math equations!
Alright, here they are! Cyberspace.
For some reason it hurts to go to cyberspace.
Oh, okay. So they have to rescue the doctor,
so that they can fix Motherboard.
JACKIE: You guys, we can't let that happen.
You guys, we can't let that happen!
You have to help! Of course!
Because this is a television show, and we have, you know, like 20 minutes to go,
so come on, help them!
Okay, they're in an island.
Cool! They have, like, a little device.
Transportal.
Cool!
All of cyberspace is counting on them?
I thought it was just because Motherboard wanted to save herself, you know.
Not all of cyberspace.
Alright! Here they are, launched into this island.
Hmm... they don't know where they are. That's no good.
And they don't have Google Maps.
I mean, if Motherboard had given them, like, smartphones or something, that would have worked.
But a paper map?!
Aha ha ha ha!
What is that?
"Is everyone alright?" "Barely."
What do you mean "barely"?
No. Everyone's fine! Nothing's happened!
They reached the shoreline. Very good.
Now, what do they do?
Oh--
They found the big skull. That's also on the map. Genius!
Okay. Now they know where they are. Very good.
Let's check it out. Let's do it. Of course.
Hey! They found it!
Right there.
Oh, cool!
So she counted her steps, and then they know how far the little square is,
and then they can just measure how long it's gonna take to get there overall.
Brilliant!
That's why kids should know math.
So that they can
escape
secret islands.
8 times 200 paces.
Hmm...
These guys know, like, multiplication. They know everything.
Oh. Something happened.
And the Sun is really red for some reason.
And the clouds are, like, pink. What is going on with this world?
I guess they're in cyberspace, so that must be different.
Oh! He worked for Hacker!
Wow!
So he used to be on the other side.
Looks like they're headed in the right direction!
Alright.
Come on, kids.
Oh, and the Hacker ship is here.
What is this pink liquid they're pouring down?
HACKER: The difference is...!
The different is...!
Oh, no! They all got, like, lost and separated.
Wow, how convenient that they have walky-talkies.
By the waterfall!
Hey! They know where they are again! Perfect!
That didn't take long. Took like 30 seconds.
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H.
Cool.
Hey, they made a graph! With an X and Y-axis. Perfect!
E-3! Aye!
See you at D-6!
Alright. They're at the bridge.
Let's see if they meet each other.
Aye! They met each other! Math does work!
Nooo! They're gonna cut the bridge.
And to think the bird used to be part of that crew!
Wow. Now, they're in real danger.
But I guess the bird can, like, fly or something.
Alright, they're mostly safe now.
That was totally cool!
The Sun is setting!
Don't they have, like, flashlights or something?
Hey, they found Doctor Marbles!
Now they can save, what's her name--
Motherboard.
Why do they wanna save her anyway?
These kids, like, just go, trust this computer.
Oh yeah, we must save this computer for some reason.
Man, Hacker's here too.
What's with this guy's haircut?
Permanently deleted! That's no good.
That's, like, when you delete a file, and then you empty the trash can.
And it's gone!
Hey! They're there, safe and sound, hanging from a tree.
What are they gonna do now? Aren't they, like, in danger?
Oh, now they have to find a random escape portal.
It's gonna take so long!
I guess they have to figure out which one is closer.
Alright guys, decide which one's closer! Let's do it!
2, 3, 4.
Alright, one is 4 squares away. That's good.
Oh. But they have mountains in the way. That's no good. It's gonna take too long.
This other one is 5 squares away.
That one is so far away! 6 squares?!
Alright. But I guess we have to trust her on this one.
Oh, smart.
This looks fun! Looks like a fun team activity!
But Hacker is, like, chasing them.
Hacker!
And why is Hacker green? Is he, like, sick or something?
It's the portal! Alright, here we go! They're gonna go back now.
Hacker is mad.
Oh. What is happening? The island...
What happened to the island?
Oh! The island's all frozen and stuff.
Alright, they're back!
MATT: That was incredible!
That was incredible!
JACKIE: Hardly any time passed.
Hardly any time passed? How does that work?
Man, Hacker is still out there. That makes sense considering there are more episodes to this show.
Yeah! Using math to go through adventures.
And that was the first episode of Cyberchase!
I guess they didn't use that much math 'cause this was the first episode,
but later on they start using other things like fractions, multiplication, addition, division,
and a bunch of other stuff. So it's really cool. I used to watch this as a kid and it was really fun.
