NEW TOP KEYWORDS - How To Generate Winning Ideas for Your Next Video - Duration: 5:33.

What if you could, at the click of one button, discover the top keywords for trending topics,

video playlists and a channel's most popular videos?

Hmmmm

Hello folks, welcome back to vidIQ and let's be honest, we wouldn't be asking you that

question at the top of this video if we didn't already have a ready made-answer, so let's

check out vidIQ's brand new tool.

So if you have the vidIQ chrome extension already installed you might have seen this

button popping up on several screens; those being the playlist page, the video page of

Youtube channels, the vidIQ trending tab of Youtube channels, and the vidIQ competitor's

page.

When you click this button you will see a popup that aggregates all the top keywords

from all the videos on the page, whether it be the channel's most recent uploads, a playlist

of videos, all the competitor's videos, it all depends on where you use the top keywords

button.

Each of these keywords can be clicked on to open up the keyword inspector with further

information such as popularity over time.

But we're not quite done there because in the top right of the keywords screen you will

find the copy tags button, extremely useful for when you want to grab a batch of tags

to play with later, and this CSV view which breaks down those keywords even further.

Understandably in this example of Jenna Marbles most recent videos on her channel you would

expect her own name to appear frequently as a keyword but you can also see how other,

more general keywords form the basis of her channel such as boyfriend, makeup, tutorial,

how to and so on.

But what's also interesting here are the more unusual tags that help define the channel's

brand or identity.

Personally speaking I don't know how solomita, Julien or Kermit relate to the channel, but

you can bet your bottom dollar the subscribers and super fans do.

So if you want to model your content on someone else's, these keywords can help you do just

that.

But what about popular content?

The key to many successful videos is hitting a topic just as it's trending and this tool

can be used for just that with two different strategies.

Let's take a trend that we're already familiar with first, fidget spinners.

Go to the Youtube search page and filter a search for fidget spinners by playlists.

This will return results of popular playlists all to do with the specific topic of fidget

spinners.

Next if we identify one of the playlists from a channel with plenty of subscribers we can

can click on view full playlist to jump directly to that playlist page.

This playlist has plenty of videos, a good number of views and it was updated in the

last couple of weeks so it's a good source of reliable and current Fidget Spinner content.

You can then click the top keywords button to look at those tags for your own video making

inspiration or to use as tags in your own content.

Now that's how you can capitilise on trends you're already aware of, but what about trends

you've never even heard of... well take a look at this.

Youtube do this funky thing where they auto generate video channels with popular content

from popular videos.

For example, if you search for technology you'll find this curious channel right here.

It will tell you it's auto generated by Youtube and nobody owns it so this is a goldmine for

discovering what technology based videos are going viral.

So what you can do on this channel is click on the videos tab and then use that top keywords

buttons to see what tags lie behind these popular videos.

A little common sense needs to be applied here.

Any technology enthusiast will know what the iPhone and Virtual Reality are so it's unusual

keywords that need further investigation.

And here's one.

3AM Challenge Gone wrong.

Why is that appearing the most popular videos about technology?

Well the keyword inspector suggests interest in this topic may be trending so let's search

for that on Youtube.

The search produced a lot of content that wasn't appropriate or relevant to technology

but these three did catch my eye.

Videos based on talking to Apple's personal digital assistant at 3am in the morning.

So after refining our search to 3am siri it looks like we might have hit the jackpot.

There are loads of videos recently published getting millions of views on a subject I'd

never even heard of.

Give it another couple of weeks and everyone will have heard about it and most probably

forgotten about it.

That's your tending topic discovered all thanks to vidIQ's top keywords button.

Of course, success can never be guaranteed and at the end of the day the actual video

you produce is the most important thing.

But at the start of the day, when you're thinking of ideas for your videos we have all of this

to get you started.
