This is for those of you that are looking for a side step, but aren't into that more
traditional round, tubular side step style.
Today we're gonna talk through the installation of these steps, which is a very simple one
out of three wrench install.
These are gonna bolt up to your Jeep in about an hour, and we'll talk more that installation
in just a second.
This is not going to provide a lot of protection, but it is going to be a different style step,
and it's also going to do a nice job of covering up that factory pinch seam, which can otherwise
look a little bit unfinished.
This is gonna give you a nice large stepping surface, making it nice and easy to get in
and out of your Jeep, and with the way these steps mount, they're be gonna very, very strong
for a step.
As I said, they're not gonna offer protection, but they'll give you a little bit of door
ding protection when you are on the road.
And because they don't hang down quite as low, if you do some light wheeling on some
fire trails, these aren't going to get hung up quite as easily.
The base of this step is a tubular-style step.
However, this does have these flat stepping pads welded right onto it that have some holes
punched in them for additional style, but also for some additional texture, so you get
better traction, and also to help with drainage when you do get mud, snow, or water on the
step, it'll be able to drain off a little bit easier, giving you a nice, sure, easy-to-use
step.
Now, as I said, these actually mount to your Jeep in a way very similar to a lot of rocker
guards, which, of course, are designed for strength.
Now I wouldn't take your Jeep out on the trail and drop it off of a ledge onto these steps
and expect a lot of protection.
Because of how these do stick off the side of the Jeep, you have a lotta leverage there,
and these are not designed to protect.
However, because they do mount to those body bushing bolts, you are going to have a very
strong step, so when you're getting in and out of the Jeep, you're not gonna have to
worry about these flexing.
To get these installed, all you're going to need to do is remove the two body bushing
bolts from both the front and rear body mounts on your two-door JK, hold the step up into
position, and replace those two bolts to get these installed.
Once you make sure that they're level and square, you can go ahead and twerk down those
bolts.
All you'll need to do is the same process on the other side and you'll be finished.
Now these do have a little bit of weight to them, so in order to help you hold them up
when you get the bolts started, it might help to have an extra set of hands around or just
have some tall jack stands to hold these in place.
But again, a very easy install.
These are completely bolt-on, no modification or drilling necessary, and this is something
anybody can do in their driveway in right around an hour.
There's definitely more material here than there is for a traditional round, tubular
side step, so of course, these are going to be a little bit more expensive.
And these are very well-built and very sturdy, so I think the $250 price tag is fair for
what you're getting.
Of course, if you have a lower budget, if you want something more traditional or a little
bit simpler or plainer, we have those options available as well.
But if you're looking for something that's a little bit more of a modern look and a very
strong, well-built step, I think these are worth the cost.
So if you're looking for a side step for your Jeep, you want one that sits up a little bit
higher to cover the pinch seam, and isn't your more traditional and a little bit more
old-school-looking, tubular side step, I think these are going to be a very easy-to-install
option that are fairly priced.
