with your pronunciation question of the

week

today's question is how do you say the

words test and text this is a great

question and again it gets back to

spelling vs pronunciation each of these

words are spelled with four sounds but

one of the words it's actually

pronounced with five sounds not four so

let's take a look at these words

ok first word is a test and it has four

sounds t-e-s-t the second word is text t-e-x-t 4 letters but

5 sounds t-e-k-s-t now we put a little extra note

down here at the bottom for you the

letter X is typically pronounced k s

or g z if you want more information on that

you can check out my website or post a

question below and maybe I can make a

video on that as well so to pronounce

these words start by saying t move to

the short e sound te add an s by

putting the tip of your tongue behind

your top front teeth

do not touch your teeth tes end with

the t by quickly touching your teeth

to stop the air and then pull your

tongue down and away a little bit

test to say text start with the t

add the short e te now put the tip of

your tongue in the bottom of your mouth

for the K sound tek add the s by then

moving your tongue behind the top of

your top back of your top front teeth

teks and then end with the t by

touching your teeth to stop that air

text so the differences are test text
