Republicans Abandon The Sinking Trump Ship - Duration: 6:49.

It was reported earlier in the week that the CIA was giving its raw data, its raw intel,

to members of Congress who are investigating Russia's meddling in the presidential election,

and perhaps, even maybe even more important frankly, the relationships between people

in the Trump camp, if not Trump himself, and members of the Russian government.

One thing to keep in mind, and this is slightly off-topic but it's not, we have, in a month

or two, two special elections, one in Montana.

In fact, this week, the Democrats found a candidate, a former folk singer, who beat

out the other Democrats, a first-time politician.

And in Georgia, one is filling Tom Price's seat, the other, the Secretary of Interior.

These two special elections, particularly the one in Georgia, could have a big impact

on whether or not we see more calls for investigation from members of Congress, because as you know,

Farron, this seat in Georgia is what is known as a +1.5 R on the Partisan Index.

In other words, Hillary Clinton lost this district by just a point and a half or so,

even though the Republican congressman there won by 20 points.

There are 23 congressional districts across the country where you have a Republican congressperson

and Hillary Clinton had won.

If a district where Hillary Clinton lost, even by just a little bit, turns to a Democratic

seat when you had the last Republican there winning by 20 points, you're going to have

all 23 of those sitting congresspeople, as well as others, basically say, 'I'm not

going down with the Donald Trump ship.

I'm abandoning that ship, and I'm going to start calling for things like investigations.'

You know, it's been interesting too along those same lines to watch Paul Ryan.

I follow him closely on Twitter just because it's hilarious to see him every day try to

pump out something new about Obamacare while the entire government is burning down around

him.

But there's a reason he's doing that.

It's not just because of Obamacare.

It's because he doesn't want to get looped in, roped in, to any of the insanity basically

that is occurring with the Trump presidency.

He is trying to do his own thing.

He is trying to distance himself, to not be involved, to not make a statement one way

or the other about anything Donald Trump is doing, because when it comes back time to

campaign, they can't hold that against him.

Now they can hold his voting record against him, absolutely, but he's doing his best to

not say anything stupid to defend Trump or to anger Trump.

This is a calculated move by Paul Ryan, and we've seen a lot of others do that.

It is because, as you point out, they are worried.

They're getting worried at this point, and if things flip, if this seat in Georgia flips,

this could be the turning point.

This could be what we need to show people that, look, a red district isn't always going

to stay red if you keep going down this path.

We could flip it.

We can flip more.

We can put more resources to these House seats that you've considered safe for so long.

We might be able to get them to go along with investigations.

You know, still a long-shot, but the possibility is there right now at least.

Well, we're not going to see investigations of Trump in any meaningful way, but we will

see some defectors in the event that that type of House seat, like you say, goes to

the Democrats.

Just one other point before we move on here, the reason why Paul Ryan is able to distance

himself from Donald Trump, and the same reason why Mitch McConnell is able to distance himself

from Donald Trump, is because the Democrats have categorically failed to, and I don't

even know if they've even tried frankly, to tie Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell to Donald

Trump.

It was a huge mistake, strategic mistake, that Hillary Clinton made in the election,

and it's a mistake that the Democrats seem just determined to repeat over and over again.

This notion that Donald Trump is going to remain popular is absurd, of course, and you

want the Republicans to either have to say they're with him or against him.

I'm going to be talking a little bit later in the program about the, I don't know what

you call it, TrumpCare or RepubliCare or, depending on if you comment at Breitbart,

RINOcare, but we'll be talking about that.

That's another example of a place where you may see some cleavage and some cleave, I should

say, with the Republicans and Donald Trump.

Well, building upon that though, if we want to talk about the fact that the Democrats

are so inept, a perfect example is a couple of weeks ago when Rand Paul came out and said,

'Well, it doesn't make much sense for Republicans to investigate Republicans.'

Now, if I'm a Democratic strategist, I am playing that audio clip at every given opportunity,

making sure that everybody in this country has heard that as we continue to see these

things unfold from the Republican Party, because they're all in this together.

Anyone who doesn't want to investigate him is a willing accomplice at this point.

I just had to add that on to your point about the Democrats not using this material properly,

because that sound bite of Rand Paul is so far the greatest one we've had all year, and

it should be played every day until people know it by heart and know exactly who said

it and why he said it.

What about dirt? Do you love the dirt, too?

What's dirt?

Oh, I do love the dirt! [laugher]

[Peridot and Steven laugh]

So, what about us? How do you feel about us?

[laughter] You guys are the best!

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for taking me in!

Oh, we're gonna be the best of friends!

But we were just enemies! Don't you remember?

Why don't you get mad?

I think, even if I really tried, that's the one thing I can't do.

Oh, come on!

Did I do something?

I think it might be more complicated than that.

Why don't you stay here and admire more of the plants?

Lapis!

Lapis!

[sigh]

Lapis!

Lapis, where are you?

She's just... it's just like she's fine with us.

Like there's no problem.

Lapis, are you okay?

No. Something is seriously wrong with me.

[Lapis] It took me so long to

learn to like this planet.

Hey, no one said there's a rush.

Navy just loves everyone and everything right away,

she has no guard, no fear.

I just don't get it. Why is it so easy for

her when it was so hard for me?

10 Times Disney Was A Bad Example For Kids - Duration: 8:26.

Disney has done a lot of great things for popular culture, and touched countless lives

across the globe.

Their movies are touted as being wholesome and full of morality, in addition to being

fun for the whole family.

Through the ages, their heroines, heroes, and villains have been some of the most iconic

in all of cinematic history.

But there are some critical eyes out there too, and some adults aren't convinced that

the lessons on the big screen are always the right ones.

We want to thank you for coming to watch our video.

Subscribe to our channel and join the notification squad to be in the know when we release something

new.

And hey, can you guess the movie based on these emojis?

Stay tuned for the answer, and play along with our trivia questions as we go through

the entries.

And now, back to the task at hand.

Here are 10 Times Disney Was A Bad Example For Kids.

Consent (Sleeping Beauty, Snow White) Here at Screen Rant, we love a good nap.

But when a quick snooze turns into an eternal slumber, well that's cause for concern.

It's even worse when the only antidote is an intrusive smooch from a complete stranger.

Some of the criticisms leveled at Snow White and Sleeping Beauty revolve around the importance

of consent.

Some weirdo strides out of the woods to make out with an unconscious woman, without her

permission, only to become his property.

This has led critical thinkers to the conclusion that Disney should be doing more to empower

women, instead of just putting them to sleep.

Judgment (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) Have you ever heard the saying "it's what's

on the inside that counts"?

There's no better example of this than in 1996's The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

As the title suggests, Quasimodo doesn't conform to social standards of handsomeness.

But he's a really great human.

So when it comes time for Esmerelda to choose between him and the hot guy, it seems like

she should follow her heart instead of her eyes, right?

WRONG.

Esmerelda goes for the eye candy, which is a very un-Disneylike thing to do.

Especially since, when it comes to what's inside, he doesn't hold a candle

to Quasimodo.

Self-Esteem (Cinderella) Perhaps one of the most common pieces of advice

handed down through the generations is to just "be yourself".

And anyone who doesn't like you for you probably isn't worth your time anyway.

Sure, if a Fairy Godmother showed up on our doorstep, we might ask for a few nips here,

a little tuck there, and maybe take a bit off the top — nothing crazy.

But when Cinderella is in the same position, she gets extreme with it.

So when Prince Charming falls in love with her, it's not exactly her he's falling

for.

Critics have argued that the movie sends the message that "if you wanna land a prince

charming, you're going to have to change everything about yourself".

Avoidance (Frozen) Ever had a problem that just seemed too big

to solve?

An overwhelming obstacle that makes you want to say "screw this, I'm going to live

in the forest"?

Same.

But life demands that we stand up straight, hold our heads high, and deal with the issues

as they come.

Unless you're Elsa, in which case it's totally cool for you to run away from your

problems.

Or, at least, that's the message being sent in the box office behemoth Frozen.

Rather than getting help or relying on her support system, Elsa retreats into solitude

instead.

And while everyone needs a little down time, there's a fine line between what's healthy

and what isn't.

Body Image (All) Animation is cool because the artist can take

whatever they want and make it look however they want.

And while there are a ton of interesting landscapes, monsters, and objects in the Disney universe,

all of the Princesses look the same.

And parents are concerned about the unrealistic body image standards the characters are setting

for young kids.

A very small proportion of the world's population look like the figures on screen, and might

be putting pressure on the rest of us to conform.

Nice women are beautiful and slim, while good men are buff and noble.

Any anyone who doesn't fit into that paradigm better have access to a Fairy Godmother.

Villainy (All) Graduates of the Disney School of Villainy

go on to do great and terrible things.

Thanks to an intense curriculum of manipulation and assholery, students gain the confidence

they need to be successful scoundrels in a rapidly-changing animated landscape.

With special focus on intimidation, maniacal cackling, and parental murder, graduates are

some of the most-feared individuals in cinematic history; they take what they want and burn

the rest.

If this is the life you want for your child, simply turn on any Disney movie and tell them

to root for the bad guy.

You'll be amazed how quickly they learn that the quickest way to the top is to literally

slay the competition.

Criminal Activity (Robin Hood) Theft with positive intent is still theft.

And no parent wants their kid to end up in the slammer, regardless of their intentions.

While stealing from the rich to give to the poor sounds great on paper, at the end of

the day it's still illegal.

Unless you're Robin Hood.

Giving what you can to those less fortunate is absolutely the right thing to do, so in

that way the story is spot on.

But the character's methodology is very, very flawed.

It's wonderful to imagine a world in which everyone is equal, but critical parents wonder

how many laws need to be broken to get there.

Self-image (The Little Mermaid) If everything was sunshine and rainbows all

the time, movies would be really, really boring.

And even the strongest protagonist would be nothing without their evil counterpart to

squish all their good vibes.

Not all trades are fair, especially when one party has more power than the other.

And sadly, not even everyone's favorite little mermaid is immune to a bad contract.

Ariel gives up everything in exchange for a "normal" physical appearance by signing

away everything that made her special.

And for what?

That's right: a guy.

Yet again, all you have to do to land a prince is make a shady deal and change everything

about yourself.

Stranger Danger (Snow White, Alice in Wonderland) There used to be an old commercial whose message

was "if you don't know what it is, don't put it in your mouth".

And we can think of a lot of circumstances where that advice applies.

But in the interest of keeping things PG, we'll keep our examples family friendly.

Snow White eats a poison apple given to her by a stranger.

And then falls into a coma.

Alice ingests all sorts of funky stuff while in Wonderland.

And ends up on some psychedelic trip.

Don't take food from strangers, and don't drink from unmarked bottles.

It's really just that simple.

Salmonella (The Princess and the Frog) The majority of entries on this list have

to to with issues of trust and morality.

But after the release of The Princess and the Frog, parents had a physical, real-world

problem on their hands.

It's an old adage that "you've gotta kiss a few frogs before you find a prince"

except you're not supposed to ACTUALLY kiss frogs.

Aside from just being gross, there's a serious risk of illness when human lips touch the

bouncy creatures: salmonella.

Kids were allegedly so inspired by the movie's touching tale that they headed out to smooch

their own swamp princes.

Most of them got diarrhea, and none of them found love.

'State of Addiction: Lessons for the Future' - Part 2 - Duration: 12:34.

>> HEY, EVERYONE BACK HOME.

THIS IS CONCORD NATIVE MATT

BONNER.

IT IS HALFTIME AT THE SPURS GAME

AND I WANTED TO TAKE A MOMENT TO

TALK TO YOU ABOUT A SERIOUS

ISSUE AFFECTING MANY PEOPLE BACK

IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND THAT IS

OPIOID ABUSE.

WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HEROIN,

PAIN PILLS.

THIS STUFF IS ALL OVER THE PLACE

RIGHT NOW.

IT IS REALLY ADDICTIVE.

THE BEST THING I CAN TELL YOU IS

DON'T DO IT THAT FIRST TIME.

AND THEN YOU ARE HOOKED.

ONCE YOU ARE HOOKED, HEROIN AND

PAIN PILLS COULD RUIN YOUR LIFE

AND TEAR APART YOUR FAMILY.

IT CAN EVEN BE LIFE OR DEATH.

WHEN I WAS GROWING UP, I WAS

ALWAYS AT THE BOYS AND GIRLS

CLUB, PLAYING BASKETBALL AND

TRYING TO ACHIEVE MY DREAM OF

PLAYING IN THE NBA SOMEDAY.

AND I ACCOMPLISHED IT, BUT THAT

WOULD HAVE BEEN DERAILED IF I

GOT MIXED UP WITH DRUG ABUSE.

ALL OF US HAVE DIFFERENT DREAMS

AND GOALS IN LIFE.

IF YOU WANT TO GIVE YOURSELF THE

BEST OPPORTUNITY POSSIBLE TO

ACHIEVE THOSE, YOU HAVE TO JUST

SAY NO, WALK AWAY AND DO

SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE INSTEAD

OF SUCCUMBING TO THE PRESSURE

OR THE OFFER OF TRYING A DRUG,

ESPECIALLY HEROIN AND PAIN

PILLS BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IS

ALL OVER THE PLACE RIGHT NOW.

I BELIEVE IN YOU.

NEW HAMPSHIRE IS WHERE MY HEART

IS.

I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT AND I WILL

SEE YOU ON THE COURT THIS

SUMMER.

ERIN: THE POWER OF ADDICTION

TOLD FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF A

FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICK FOR THE

FLORIDA MARLINS BASEBALL TEAM

BACK IN 2003.

SEAN: JEFF ALLISON WAS AN

ALL-STAR PITCHER STRAIGHT OUT OF

HIGH SCHOOL IN PEABODY,

MASSACHUSETTS WHO SIGNED A

CONTRACT WORTH MORE THAN $1.8

MILLION.

THAT IS UNTIL OXYCONTIN BECAME

HIS OBSESSION, THEN HEROIN, AND

HE STRUGGLED TO BEAT HIS

ADDICTION.

NOW, HE SHARES HIS TALENT AND

STORY WITH TEENS WHO ARE JUST

LIKE HE WAS.

>> MY ROCK BOTTOM WAS HORRIBLE.

IT WAS SOMETHING I CAN NEVER

FORGET.

IT'S SO VIVID TO ME.

ERIN: JEFF ALLISON WAS A

SUPERSTAR ON THE PITCHING MOUND

WITH SO MUCH PROMISE.

>> 14 YEARS AGO WAS THE BEST DAY

OF MY LIFE AND THE WORST DAY OF

MY LIFE AT THE SAME TIME.

I GOT DRAFTED BY THE FLORIDA

MARLINS WITH THE 16TH OVERALL

PICK AND I SIGNED FOR $1.85

MILLION.

YOU WOULD THINK GROWING UP WHERE

I DID, US NOT HAVING MUCH AS A

FAMILY, THAT WOULD CHANGE YOUR

LIFE.

IT DID FOR THE MOST PART BUT IT

WAS ALSO THE WORST DAY OF MY

LIFE.

ERIN: TO THROWING IT ALL AWAY.

>> IN HIGH SCHOOL, I WAS THE ONE

THAT WOULD GO TO PARTIES.

I WAS LIKE A WEEKEND WARRIOR.

BY WHICH DRINK AND SMOKE AND I

ALWAYS THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER

HAVE AN ISSUE AND NEVER HAVE A

PROBLEM.

ERIN: HE BECAME A FULL-BLOWN

DRUG ADDICT AT AGE 19.

>> I HAVE OVERDOSED TWICE AND I

EASILY COULDN'T BE HERE.

I AM HERE SO THIS IS WHAT I NEED

TO DO.

ERIN: HE WAS LOCKED UP FOR MORE

THAN YEAR.

>> I ALWAYS FOUND A WAY TO DO

SOMETHING.

IF I WANTED TO, I COULD FIND

ANYTHING ON ANY STREET CORNER.

EVEN IF I WAS BY MYSELF AND DID

NOT KNOW ANYBODY.

FOR ME, HE GOT SO BAD I WAS

ROBBING AND STEALING.

THAT IS WHERE THE JAIL TIME CAME

IN.

WE ARE ONLY TALKING THREE YEARS

REMOVED FROM BEING THE NUMBER

ONE DRAFT PICK.

THAT IS SOMETHING I CAN NEVER

FORGET.

EVEN YEARS LATER, 10 YEARS

LATER, I CAN NEVER FORGET.

EVERY SINGLE TIME I SPEAK, IT

COULD BE 10,000, 25 -- IT DOES

NOT MATTER.

IT IS ALWAYS SO VIVID TO ME

EVERY TIME I TALK.

IT'S SO REAL TO ME EVERY TIME I

TALK.

ERIN: THEN ONE MORNING AT 4:30,

HE FACED A LIFE OR DEATH

DECISION.

>> I HAD NO WAY TO GET HOME.

NO MONEY.

ALL OF MY MONEY WAS GONE.

I SPENT IT ON DRUGS, ALCOHOL,

FRIENDS.

ANYTHING ANYBODY WANTED, I GAVE

IT TO THEM.

I NEVER LOOKED AFTER ME, NEVER

MADE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO

CHANGE AND THAT DAY I HAD A

OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO.

I COULD EITHER GET UP AND WALK

33 MILES BACK HOME OR I COULD

SIT THERE AND ESSENTIALLY DIE.

I HAD ALREADY OVERDOSED TWICE.

I HAD A WARRANT OUT FOR MY

ARREST.

WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO WAS ME

MAKING A CONSCIOUS CHOICE ONCE

AGAIN TO EITHER WALK OR STAND.

IF I STAYED, I WOULD GO BACK TO

JAIL.

THIS TIME, WITH ALL THE THINGS I

HAD DONE WRONG, ALL THE CHARGES

-- I HAD ABOUT 8.5 YEARS OF

PRISON TIME ON TOP OF MY HEAD.

I DECIDED TO WALK IN WHEN I GOT

HOME MY MOTHER WAS THERE WAITING

FOR ME.

IT WAS PROBABLY THE BEST THE

SEASON -- DECISION I'D MADE IN

MY LIFE.

IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY

CAREER.

IT WAS ALWAYS ABOUT EVERYONE

ELSE OTHER THAN ME.

I FINALLY DECIDED TO LOOK AFTER

ME AND THAT WAS THE BEST VISION

-- DECISION I EVER MADE IN MY

ENTIRE LIFE.

ERIN: HE WENT BACK FOR

TREATMENT.

ONCE RELEASED, HE WAS ARRESTED

AT SPRING TRAINING.

>> WHEN I WENT TO JAIL THAT DAY,

THAT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF THE

REST OF MY LIFE.

I DID ALL THE TIME I NEEDED TO

DO.

IT MADE ME REFLECT ON ALL THE

THINGS I HAD DONE TO OTHERS

WHICH IS A STEP IN THE 12 STEPS

FOR ME.

THAT WAS A VERY TOUGH ONE.

AT THE END OF THE DAY FOR ME, IT

WAS THAT ONE CHOICE, THAT ONE

CONSCIOUS DECISION.

IF I DIDN'T MAKE IT, I WOULDN'T

BE HERE.

FROM DECEMBER 4, 2006 UNTIL THIS

DAY, I HAVE BEEN CLEAN.

I HAD A RED-HOT IN A MILLION

YEARS I WOULD HAVE -- I NEVER

THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS I

WOULD HAVE --

[APPLAUSE]

>> THANK YOU, GUYS.

THANK YOU.

SEAN: JEFF ALLISON SAYS IT ISN'T

EASY TO TRY AND HELP SOMEBODY OR

CHANGE A LIFE AND HIS HEART GOES

LOVED ONE TO ADDICTION.

COULD BRING MORE RESOURCES.

>> LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PLEASE

LESS THAN A MONTH AGO.

SINCE 1996, HE'S BEEN AN ALABAMA

CRISIS, A SPEECH BY THE U.S.

ATTORNEY GENERAL MEANS NATIONAL

EYES ARE ON THIS CRISIS.

MR. SESSIONS: WE HAVE SOME HIGH

PRIORITIES.

WE ARE GOING TO FOCUS ON

PRESCRIPTION DRUG ABUSE.

I BELIEVE WE HAVE WAY TOO MUCH

PAIN MEDICATION BEING PRESCRIBED

IN AMERICA TODAY AND IT LEADS TO

HEROIN ADDICTION.

I BELIEVE WE CAN DO A MUCH

BETTER JOB ON ENFORCING CRIMINAL

VIOLATIONS IN PRESCRIPTION DRUG

DISTRIBUTION.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE STOPPED AND

WE CAN STOP IT.

WE ARE GOING TO TARGET GANGS AND

DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS WHO AR

MOVING THIS OUT FOR GREAT WEALTH

THEY HAVE TO BE ATTACKED.

THEY HAVE TO BE STOPPED.

MR. SESSIONS: I WANT YOU TO KNOW

THAT WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE

TODAY IS NOT AN ORDINARY EVENT,

IN MY OPINION.

IT IS A SPECIAL THING.

THAT'S WHY I CLEARED MY SCHEDULE

HERE TODAY TO BE WITH YOU.

I WANTED TO SEE THAT NO ONE -- I

WANTED TO SEE AND PARTICIPATE IN

THIS YOUTH SUMMIT BECAUSE IT'S

HISTORIC, BECAUSE IT MAY BE THE

REITERATED WHAT RESIDENTS HERE

ALREADY KNOW TOO WELL -- NEW

ATTORNEY GENERAL SESSIONS SAYS

CRIMINAL ENFORCEMENT IS A

PRIORITY.

MR. SESSIONS: CRIMINAL

ENFORCEMENT IS ESSENTIAL TO

STOPPING THE TRANSNATIONAL

CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS.

WHICH SHIP DRUGS IN HUGE AMOUNTS

AND TO STOP THE THUGS AND GAINS

WHO USE VIOLENCE AND EXTORTION

TO MOVE THEIR PRODUCTS.

THE PRESIDENT HAS ISSUED AN

EXECUTIVE ORDER THROUGH THE

DISMANTLE THESE ORGANIZATIONS

AND GANGS.

WE'RE GOING AFTER THEM, THAT YOU

CAN BE SURE.

REPORTER: THE FOCUS DURING THIS

ADDRESS THOUGH WAS ABOUT

PREVENTION.

OFFICIALS AGREE THAT STOPPING

ADDICTION WITH THIS GENERATION

BEFORE IT STARTS IS THE KEY.

MR. SESSIONS: PEOPLE NEED TO

HEAR THE TRUTH.

NO FILTER, NO SENSORS -- JUST

STRAIGHT FACTS FROM THOSE WHO

HAVE LIVED WITH THE HARD

CONSEQUENCES OF OPIOID ABUSE.

MANY PEOPLE GET STARTED ON

OPIOIDS OR OTHER DRUGS BECAUSE

THEY DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND

WHAT THEY ARE GETTING THEMSELVES

INTO.

A LOT OF PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE

HOW ADDICTIVE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

CAN BE.

THESE DRUGS ARE POWERFUL AND

OPIOID ADDICTION CAN TAKE HOLD

QUICKLY.

TIDE AGAINST DRUGS AND ADDICTION

AGAIN IN AMERICA JUST LIKE WE

DID PREVIOUSLY.

WE HAVE PROVEN THAT EDUCATION

AND TELLING PEOPLE THE TRUTH

ABOUT DRUGS AND ADDICTION WILL

RESULT IN BETTER CHOICES.

DRUG USE WILL FALL AND LIVES

WILL BE SAVED.

LESS MONEY WILL BE GOING INTO

THE CARTELS AND DRUG GANGS,

WEAKENING THEM.

AND THAT'S WHAT HAS EXCITED ME

ABOUT YOU TODAY AND THE

LEADERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION YOU

ARE GIVING TO THIS YOUTH SUMMIT.

I AM TALKING ABOUT THE TIDE OF

DRUG ABUSE IN THIS COUNTRY.

WHAT YOU CAN DO IS IMPORTANT AND

I BELIEVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING

I'M MIKE O'MALLEY

I AM SAYING HELLO FROM LOS

ANGELES.

SOME OF YOU MIGHT KNOW ME FROM

"GLEE," SOME OTHERS MIGHT KNOW

ME FROM "SULLY."

I AM FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE.

AS YOU CAN SEE, I AM REPPING MY

UNH SWEATSHIRT, THAT'S RIGHT I'M

IT.

BUT YOU'VE GOT TO KEEP YOUR

HEADS CLEAN.

HEALTHY AND SMART LIFE CHOICES

ERIN: TO SET THEM ON THE PATH TO

SUCCESS, WITH ADVICE, FROM SOME

STARS OF THE SCREEN, AND THE

GRIDIRON.

X DRUGS AND ALCOHOL ARE

POWERFUL.

WE ARE MORE POWERFUL.

WE ARE.

ERIN: ACTRESS ELIZA DUSHKU, A

MASSACHUSETTS NATIVE, BEST KNOWN

FOR ROLES IN BRING IT ON AND

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, SPEA

FROM EXPERIENCE.

>> I AM ALSO, I AM AN ALCOHOLIC.

I WAS A GIGANTIC FOR A LOT OF

YEARS.

YOU HEAR PEOPLE SAY I AM THAT

BECAUSE I AM.

IMO ALWAYS GOING TO BE THAT.

ERIN: CLEAN AND SOBER FOR 8

YEARS

SHE REVEALED TO THE CROWD HOW

SHE FOUGHT OFF THE TEMPTATION OF

ADDICTION IN ONE OF HER DARKES

HOURS.

WHEN MY FATHER WAS SICK AND

DYING THREE YEARS AGO AND ONE

PILL FELL ON THE GROUND.

NOBODY WOULD HAVE KNOWN.

I COULD HAVE TAKEN IT.

I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS.

DRUGS DID NOT LO ME AREA THEY

DID NOT LOVE MY FAMILY.

HE DID NOT LOVE FRIENDS THAT

DIED.

I HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS THAT ARE

DEAD.

ERIN: SHE SAYS IT'S TAKEN A

WHILE TO WIN BACK THE TRUST OF

HER FAMILY.

>> I REMEMBER MY BROTHER TELLING

ME HE DIDN'T WANT ME TO BE

AROUND MY NEICE BECAUSE HE

DIDN'T TRUST ME AND HE DID AND

I'M A REALLY GOOD ANTIE TODAY.

BUT HE WAS RIGHT.

THANK YOU.

HE WAS RIGHT, WHEN I DRANK AND

DID DRUGS I DIDN'T MAKE GOOD

DECISIONS.

I'M SURE YOU CAN RELATE TO THAT.

AND ALL IT TAKES IS ONE BAD

DECISION.

ERIN THE BEST DECISION SHE EVER

MADE WAS TO SEEK HELP.

IT WAS THE HARDEST THING IN

THE WORLD FOR ME TO ASK FOR HELP

AND THE MOST POWERFUL THING I'VE

EVER DONE.

CRAZY, RIGHT?

ERIN: NOW AT 36, THE ACTRESS WHO

PUT OFF SCHOOL FOR A CAREER IN

HOLLYWOOD, IS DOING SOMETHING

SHE'S WANTED TO DO FOR A LONG

TIME, SHE'S GOING TO COLLEGE.

>> I GOT SOBER FOR MY FAMILY BUT

FRIENDS.

ERIN: HE ALSO BROUGHT ALONG A

ERIN: THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOT

HAD A QUESTION FOR THE STUDENTS

WHO HAD JUST WITNESSED THIS

POWERFUL IMAGE, OF A STAGE FULL

OF PARENTS HOLDING THE PHOTO OF

THEIR CHILD WHO DIED FROM AN

OVERDOSE.

>> DO YOU WANT YOUR PARENTS

HOLDING A PICTURE OF YOU UP

HERE?

WHY DO IT?

FOR WHAT?

LIKE, DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE

WITH YOUR LIFE.

DRUGS IS NOT THE WAY TO GO TO

HAVE A SUCCESSFUL LIFE.

IT IS 50-50 YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE

IT.

PERIOD.

BOTTOM LINE IS, YOU HAVE ONE

LIFE.

HAVE FUN.

DO SOMETHING TO MAKE PEOPLE

PROUD.

THERE YOU GO.

ERIN WALMART IS JOINING THE

FIGHT IN BATTLING PRESCRIPTION

MISUSE.

SEAN: THE NEW ENGLAND DIRECTOR

OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS SAYS IT IS

IMPORTANT TO STOP ADDICTION IN

ITS TRACKS BY SIMPLY GETTING

ACTIVE.

>> ONE WAY THIS SUMMIT CAN SAVE

LIVES IS BY SHINING A LIGHT ON

THE MANY ALTERNATIVES TO DRUG

USE THAT ARE ALL AROUND US.

KNOW ONE OF THOSE

ALTERNATIVES IS TO GET INVOLVED

IN SPORTS.

ERIN: GET INVOLVED.

THAT'S THE MESSAGE SENT TO

STUDENTS AT THIS SUMMIT.

SEAN: USE YOUR VOICES AND FIND

OTHER WAYS TO HAVE FUN AND MAKE

SOMETHING OF YOUR LIVES.

THESE STUDENTS WERE TOLD THAT

THEY HOLD THE KEYS TO THE

FUTURE

>> ANYONE WITH TICKETS.

SEAN: IT WAS A FIRST FOR NEW

HAMPSHIRE, SOME 8,000 HIGH

SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM ALL OVER

THE STATE GATHERING AT SNHU

ARENA TO BOTH LISTEN AND TO TALK

ABOUT A AN OFTEN TABOO TOPIC.

>> IT IS A TOUCHY SUBJECT.

IT IS GOOD TO TALK ABOUT AND

LEARN ABOUT AND HOW WE CAN STOP

IT.

>> I AM HOPING TO LEARN HOW TO

CHANGE DRUG USE IN OUR SCHOOL.

>> ARE THEY MAKING HEALTHY

CHOICES IN THE 10TH GRADE?

>> IT IS PROBABLY HALF-AND-HALF.

SEAN: TO TRY AND GET THROUGH THE

ATOMSPHERE WAS BOTH FUN AND

INFORMATIVE.

OUTSIDE THERE WERE DISPLAYS ON

ANYTHING FROM RECOVERY SERVICES

TO HOW TO ADMINISTER NARCAN

.

YOU PUT THIS IN THE NOSTRIL

AND PUT THE LEVER DOWN.

SEAN: DID YOU THINK YOU WOULD

EVER SHOW STUDENTS HOW TO USE

NARCAN?

WHILE INSIDE IT WAS MESSAGE

EMPOWERMENT.

>> WE WILL BEAT THIS EPIDEMIC

WITH YOU GUYS.

SEAN: THE AUDIENCE HERE MAY BE

YOUNG, THEY ARE KIDS.

BUT THEY KNOW ALL ABOUT

CHALLENGES ESPECIALLY THE PEER

PRESSURE THEY ALL FACE.

>> IF A KID IS WALKING AROUND

AND THEY HEAR FROM OTHER KIDS,

COME DO WHAT WE ARE DOING.

IT IS HARD TO SAY NO.

THEY WANT TO DO WITH THE POPULAR

KIDS ARE DOING.

I'M EXCITED TO LEARN HOW TO JUST

SAY NO AND SPREAD THAT

INFORMATION.

>> I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS.

I HAVE OVERDOSED TWICE.

SEAN: THE KIDS HEARD STORIES

DIRECTLY FROM THOSE WHO HAVE

BEEN THROUGH DRUG ABUSE.

FOR MANY IT WAS EYE OPENING.

>> I DID NOT REALLY THINK IT WAS

THAT SERIOUS.

AND THAT PEOPLE REALLY OVERDOSED

THAT MUCH AND THAT THEY WERE

TAKING THEM THAT YOUNG.

>> I THINK DRUGS ARE BAD.

YOU CAN GET ADDICTED.

I FEEL BAD FOR THOSE PEOPLE.

I ACTUALLY LOST A FRIEND LAST

YEAR DUE TO AN OVERDOSE.

IT IS A GREAT THING THEY ARE

DOING.

I HOPE KIDS ARE GETTING THE

MESSAGE.

SEAN: IN FACT, WHEN THOSE

PARENTS WHO LOST CHILDREN TO

DRUG ABUSE TOOK THE STAGE,FOR

MANY OF THESE KIDS IT WAS

PERSONAL

>> I DID HAVE SOME FAMILY THAT

PAST AWAY FROM DRUGS.

THIS TOUCHED ME A LITTLE BIT.

THIS DID ME SOME GOOD.

>> IT TOOK A LOT O GUTS TO

STAND UP IN FRONT OF THIS PEOPLE

WITH EVERYTHING THAT IS GOING

ON.

IT IS GOOD DAY STOOD UP.

IT WAS BRAVE.

I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DO THAT

IF THAT HAPPENED TO ME OR MY

FAMILY.

SEAN: ONE MAJOR OBJECTIVE OF THE

YOUTH SUMMIT WAS TO REMIND THESE

TEENS THEY ARE THE FUTURE, IF

THEY CAN MAKE BETTER CHOICES

THAN DRUGS PERHAPS A CULTURAL

SHIFT WILL HAPPEN AROUND THE

.

THE HOPE WAS THEY WOULD SHARE

THE MESSAGE LEARNED HERE WITH

OTHERS.

>> I THINK THERE ARE A LOT OF

CELEBRITIES HERE AND SPEAKERS

THAT ARE VERY GOOD.

IT FORCED PEOPLE TO TAKE INTO

CONSIDERATION WHAT CAN HAPPEN

THE FIRST TIME OR EVEN THE

FOURTH AND FIFTH TIME.

SEAN: HERE'S THE GOOD NEWS

-- SPEAKING WITH ALL THESE KIDS.

YOU GET A SENSE THEY'RE

OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THIS WHOLE

THING.

A LOT OF PEOPLE MAKE GREAT

CHOICES AND OUR GREAT LEADERS.

SEAN: JUST LOOK AT YOUNGSTERS

LIKE JACOB LACASS, HE WAS

WORKING THIS EVENT

HE'S A YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

SPECIALIST TRYING TO REACH KIDS

HIS OWN AGE.

WE WANT TO EDUCATE THEM ON

HOW IT WOULD AFFECT THEIR LIFE

AND HOW IT WOULD BE IF THEY WENT

ON DRUGS.

>> IT IS OUR JOB TO TRY TO HELP.

SEAN: RUMIT PATEL IS PART OF THE

LEO CLUB AT SANBORN REGIONAL

HIGH SCHOOL.

A GROUP THAT HELPS GET KIDS TO

MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES.

THEY HOPE OTHERS WILL OPEN

AROUND THE STATE.

>> THE KIDS KNOW WHO IS USING

AND BUYING.

THEY DON'T TALK ABOUT IT.

IN A PLACE LIKE THIS, THEY CAN

TALK TO EACH OTHER.

WE CAN BEAT THIS THING.

SEAN GOVERNOR CHRIS SUNUNU TOLD

THE STUDENTS

THIS IS THE TURNING POINT THE

BEGINNING OF A NATIONAL EFFORT

WITH LOCAL VOICES.

ERIN: TELLING THEM THIS FIGHT IS

Deaf Poynters| Episode #2 - Communicating With Deaf People As An Autistic Person - Duration: 3:56.

(marker scratching)

(electronic video game chime)

Hello, and welcome to episode three of Deaf Poynters,

where I pretend I'm taking you for a drive,

like we're going out to dinner or somewhere,

and you talk to me about your deaf

or disability-related problems,

and I give you advice.

Or I just rant with you,

it kinda depends.

If you have a personal experience

or a question you'd like me to answer,

you can email deafpoynters@gmail.com,

you can also go to deafpoynters.com,

in case I write an article,

that is my article website.

You can also go to rikkipoynter.com

to hire me to speak at your school,

or any other establishment that could use my,

my words of grace, my words of wisdom.

But please, if you do send me an email,

make sure to be specific as to whether or not it is

for the series, that way I know,

it makes it a whole lot easier.

So, without further ado, episode three, let's go!

"Hi, Rikki, I have an autism-spectrum disorder,

"and part of my disability

"is that I'm really sensitive to sound.

"I was wondering if I was talking or signing

"to a deaf person, and sound, like a siren happened,

"how would I react without being rude

"to the deaf person?"

Okay, first of all, I know very little, next to nothing

about autism, being autistic,

so if I say something wrong,

wrong term, whatever,

please feel free to correct me in the comments

so I know,

let's get that out of the way.

I cannot speak for every other person,

I say everybody reacts differently,

but if it were me, if you and I were having a conversation,

like remember,

our scenery right now is you in this car, right.

So if you were me, and we were walking and there was a,

I guess a tornado siren going around, right,

I wouldn't mind, I wouldn't think you were being rude.

I mean, I might,

if I did not know who you were,

if I didn't know who you were,

you wouldn't be in my car,

because you would be a stranger and I would be scared,

but if I did not know, like, you were autistic,

or I did not know very much about autism, right,

I may be, first, would be a little confused,

I'd be like,

you okay?

But, you know,

let me know if you feel comfortable letting me know,

that you know, you're very sensitive to sound and whatnot,

I'm gonna be like, okay, cool.

I mean, probably not cool,

because that's not, like, the greatest thing in the world,

but you know what I mean,

like I just wouldn't,

it is what it is,

there's no harm, no foul.

Like I said, I can't speak for every other,

you know, deaf person around that you'll be talking to,

but I would like to think, you know,

it wouldn't be a very big issue at all.

Confusion might be happening,

especially if, like, some of us

wouldn't be able to hear the siren,

you know, there might be some confusion happening,

but, just let us know,

and it's like, okay, yeah.

I don't think you could be rude at all even explaining it,

I think the only way that would ever happen,

is if you were like cussing us out or something,

I think that would probably be the only way

that would be rude,

but I don't think you would be doing that, you know,

unless it was like,

I don't know.

Like I won't lie, sometimes if I'm extremely startled,

I start swearing or doing really obscene things,

you know,

punching people, maybe, punching at 'em,

out of a reaction, it's a reactionary response, right,

it's just like that, so.

You know, just don't worry about it,

just, you know, let us know.

Let me know, you know,

in case we ever meet each other one day,

and it's not a problem, it's all good.

It's all good.

So I hope that helps.

Once again, if you've got a question,

deafpoynters@gmail.com,

I completely butchered that,

deafpoynters@gmail.com,

there you go.

And, I'll see you for episode four.

If you wanna follow me on all my social media,

links to that will be down below.

If you wanna help support my content,

you can do so monthly by being a patron on Patreon,

or you can leave a one-time tip on ko-fi.

Both links to those will be down below.

I upload every Monday and Thursday,

unless otherwise stated.

This actually might become a Sunday type of series,

who knows?

And I will see you later, bye!

8 Insane Lawsuits You Won't Believe - Duration: 8:29.

Elite Facts Presents

8 Insane Lawsuits You Won't Believe

8.

-Back In 2009, a 20-year-old by the name of Chelsea Hess met some friends at a sports

grill in Bluffton, S.C., and was served alcohol, even though she was not aged 21 which is the

legal drinking age in the U.S.

While Intoxicated, she decided it would be a good idea to drive away from the restaurant

a little after 1 a.m. and as you'd probably expect, soon lost control of her car, rolling

it off the road.

Hess, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown 20 feet (6 meters) from the vehicle,

sustaining serious injuries that caused her to become a paraplegic.

Instead of taking responsibility for her own actions like any young adult with a bit of

common sense would, She would instead file a lawsuit against the sports grill and the

South Carolina Department of Transportation in December 2011.

She accused the sports grill of negligence for selling her the alcoholic beverage without

first verifying her age and ensuring that she was not already inebriated.

As if that wasn't enough, Hess also gone of out her way to blame SCDOT, claiming that

a defect in the shoulder caused her to flip her 11 year old (2000) Mitsubishi.

The department's failure to maintain the shoulder or mark the damaged area, according to the

lawsuit, amounted to negligence.

In response to these allegations, SCDOT reasoned "that any injuries and/or damages sustained

by the Plaintiff were due to and caused by the sole negligent, grossly negligent, reckless,

careless, heedless, willful and wanton acts and/or omissions of Plaintiff."........Seems

like a reasonable defense if you ask us.

7.

Sues McDonalds because coffee was too hot In 1992 a seventy two year old woman from

Albuquerque "accidentally" spilled her McDonald's coffee onto her lap.

After filing a lawsuit against McDonald's, She ended up winning the case and pocketed

nearly $3 million claiming that they should have put a warning sign on the cup.

Because, You know.

People don't have common sense to know that coffee is hot.

6.

Lindsay Lohan Vs. Rockstar Games We all know Grand Theft Auto 5.

Kids, Teens and most Adults Love it and Parents despise it as many people in the past have

filled lawsuits against rockstar games for multiple different reasons.

However, Back in 2014 Rockstar received a lawsuit by someone they probably weren't

expecting to sue them.

The person trying to sue them was none other than Lindsay Lohan.

Lohan sued Rockstar as she accused the company of making a character, Lacey Jonas, who was

an "unequivocal" reference to the Mean Girls star.

Jonas, like Lohan, is a blonde movie star with an eating disorder.

In one of the game's side-missions the player is asked to escort her home so she can avoid

the paparazzi.

The character's portrayal, is somehow more less than flattering.

Lohan also believed that a promotional image for the game depicting a woman blonde woman

in a bikini making a peace sign was based on a picture of her making the same gesture

in a swimsuit.

And hey, That rock on the ground kind of looks like her head too.

Guess it's time to sue mother nature.

5.

Man sues Michael Jordan because he looks like him

Who doesn't want to be Michael Jordan?

Seriously?

Well apparently this guy doesn't.

In 2006, Allen Heckard of Portland, Ore., was so sick of people mistaking him for the

legendary basketball player that he actually went of his own way to sue Michael Jordan

for $416 million on the grounds that his resemblance to the Space Jam star caused emotional pain

and suffering, defamation and permanent injury. (and on top of that, He also sued Nike for

the same amount, faulting them for making Jordan a celebrity.)

Heckard, who stands about 6 in.

shorter than His Jordan, states that he could not attend religious services, ride public

transportation, play sports in public parks or eat at a restaurant without getting mistaken

for the former Chicago Bulls guard.

Maybe Heckard's shaved head, earring and Air Jordan sneakers had something to do with that?

"I'm constantly being accused of looking like Michael, and it makes it very uncomfortable

for me," Heckard said.

"Even when I go to the gym I'm being accused of playing ball like him."

Oh yeah sure.

You can see how this is emotionally scarring him.

Thankfully Heckard gained a bit of common sense and eventually dropped the suit.

4.

Man sues Ex-Wife over a Kidney Divorces are never easy.

No matter if you're breaking it up on good terms of you and your partner go through a

rough patch during the course of the divorce, it's never going to be easy.

Richard Batista however can live with his broken heart.

What he can't bear is his cheating wife living with one of his healthy kidneys.

The Long Island doctor wants the one-time love of his life to pay $1.5 million for the

organ he bestowed on her eight years ago in a gift meant to save her life and their foundering

marriage.

Batista told reporters that "There's no deeper pain you can ever express than to be betrayed

by the person you devoted your life to," He also added that "I saved her life.

But the pain is unbearable."

Batista charged his wife, Dawnell, repaid his gesture by first sleeping with her physical

therapist - and then denying him access to their three kids in an increasingly bitter

divorce.

What's even more depressing about this case is that Batista insists his decision to donate

his kidney in 2001 was in part a failed effort to rescue their troubled relationship.

3.

Man sues Hit and Run victim for making a dent in his car bumper

Now i know that most of these lawsuits are insane for hilarious reason, but this one

is just down right disgusting.

Back in 2004, Spanish businessman, Tomas Delgado filed a suit asking a dead boy's parents to

pay him €20,000 ($29,400) on the grounds that the collision that killed their teenage

son also damaged his Audi A-8.

News of the case sparked outrage in Spain and generated deep sympathy for the parents

of 17-year-old Enaitz Iriondo Trinidad.

He was riding his bicycle home to a campground when Delgado's car hit and killed him back

in August 2004.

Hundreds of people descended on a courthouse in northern Spain in a show of support for

the boy's parents.

They broke into applause when word came that Delgado had dropped the suit.

The businessman decided to "Try" and do a bit of damage control as he had insisted

in a television interview that he was a victim, too.

His lawyer told the court that Delgado felt that the extensive publicity amounted to a

public lynching.

2.

Mayor Sues DC/Warner Brothers for using his City's name for a Superhero.

Okay this is definitely one of the most ridiculous lawsuits on this list.

So…..Turns out there's a city called "Batman" and is located in southeastern Turkey.

Sounds pretty cool living in a city named after a superhero.

Well that's not what the mayor of Batman city though as he attempted to sue Warner

Bros for using his city's name without permission.

His reasoning for the the lawsuit is just incredible as he believes that "There is

only one batman in the world".

That is amazing!

1.

A man sued himself Just when you thought you've heard the dumbest

thing ever, you get slapped in the face with something even more ridiculous like this story!

In 1995 Robert Brock, a Virginia state prisoner, decided he wanted to be moved from prison

to a mental institution.

He claimed that his crime was against his morals and that he had violated his own civil

liberties.

Although he sues himself for $5 million he also said the state should pay since he didn't

have an income.

Anymore insane Lawsuit stories you know?

Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks for watching!

'Marsy's Law' aimed at protecting domestic violence victims - Duration: 5:56.

OGLE, MARKIE

MARTIN, AND METEOROLOGIST BRAD

SOWDER.

MARKIE: WE'RE TALKING ABOUT A

VERY SERIOUS TOPIC TODAY,

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND THE

LEGISLATIVE PUSH TO IMPLEMENT

MARSY'S LAW IN OKLAHOMA, WHICH

WOULD GIVE GREATER PROTECTIONS

TO VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE AND THEIR

FAMILIES.

JOINING US NOW IS REPRESENTATIVE

SCOTT BRIGGS WHO IS BACKING THIS

RESOLUTION

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING WITH

US.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.

I'D LIKE YOU TO GET INTO THE

LAW, EXACTLY WHAT IT IS.

I DID NOT KNOW A LOT ABOUT IT

AND TAKE US BACK TO ITS

BEGINNINGS.

SCOTT: IT STARTED OFF FROM A

GENTLEMAN WHO HAD A TRAGIC THAT

HAPPENED IN HIS LIFE.

HIS FAMILY WAS MURDERED.

HE WALKED INTO A GAS STATION AND

SAW THE GUY WOULD BEEN RELEASED

FROM JAIL.

IT IS CURRENTLY IN FIVE OTHER

STATES.

HE HAS MADE IT HIS MISSION TO

MAKE SURE VICTIMS ACROSS THE

COUNTRY HAVE ADEQUATE

PROTECTIONS.

MARKIE ONE OF THE BIG THINGS IS

WHEN THAT FAMILY RAN INTO THEM,

THEY HAD NO IDEA HE WAS OUT FREE

ON THE STREETS.

I'M GUESSING THAT'S ONE OF THE

THINGS WE WOULD WANT TO

IMPLEMENT HERE.

SCOTT: JUSTIN NOTICED IN BEING

INVOLVED.

HAVING THE VICTIM MORE INVOLVED

IN THE PROCESS.

IN THE DISCUSSION, THE VICTIMS

FEEL LIKE THE SYSTEM LET THEM

DOWN.

MARKIE: TAKE ME THROUGH A LIST

OF WHAT VICTIMS OR IF THAT

VICTIM'S PAST WHAT THE VICTIM

WOULD BE PROVIDED WITH, NOT ONLY

NOTIFICATIONS BUT WHAT ELSE?

SCOTT: ONCE THE LAW IS IN PLACE

IN OKLAHOMA, IT WILL START FROM

THE SECOND THEY START TO GET

HELP.

THE POLICE READS THE DEFENDANT

THEIR MIRANDA RIGHTS, THEY WILL

READ THE VICTIMS RIGHTS AND TELL

THEM WHAT THEIR RIGHTS ARE.

WE START THE PROCESS AT THAT

POINT MOVING FORWARD.

RIGHT NOW IT STARTS WITH THE

CASES FILED.

WE ARE HELPING THEM EARLIER.

MARKIE: DOES IT PERTA TO

VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?

SCOTT: ALL VICTIMS.

MARKIE LET ME TAKE IT TO THIS

QUESTION, ONE OF THE BIGGEST

REASONS IT'S BEING FOUGHT FOR IS

BECAUSE PEOPLE WANT VICTIMS TO

HAVE THE SAME CONSTITUTIONAL

RIGHTS AS THE PERSON ACCUSED.

DO YOU SEE ANY QUALITY THERE?

SCOTT: WITHOUT A DOUBT.

OKLAHOMA HAS FOUGHT FOR 30 YEARS

TO HAVE VICTIMS RIGHTS.

A LOT OF OUR VICTIMS RIGHTS ARE

STATE STATUTES.

JUDGES HAV SIMPLY SAID THE

DEFENDANTS RIGHTS IN THE

CONSTITUTION AND IT TRUMPS STATE

STATUTE, WHICH IS CORRECT.

THEY'VE IGNORED THE RIGHTS OF

THE VICTIMS.

THEY HAVE NOT ALLOWED THEM THE

OPPORTUNITY TO BE PRESENT FOR

HEARINGS.

BUT WE'RE DOING IS SIMPLY

ELEVATING THE VICTIM TO THE SAME

LEVEL AS THE DEFENDANT.

NOT ABOVE OR MORE, JUST THE SAME

LEVEL.

MARKIE: I KNOW OKLAHOMA HAS

CERTAIN VERSIONS OF THIS LAW.

YOU HAVE KAITLYN'S LAW.

SHE WAS MURDERED BY HER MOTHER'S

EX-BOYFRIEND.

I KNOW IT PROVIDES SOME OF THOSE

PROTECTIONS.

HOW DO THESE TWO DIFFER?

WHAT DOES IT OFFER THAT THE

OTHER DOESN'T?

SCOT THEY ARE GOING TO WORK

TOGETHER.

IT PLACES THEM IN THE

CONSTITUTION.

WHEN A DEFENDANT HAS A

CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, ALL OF

THESE ARE GOING TO WORK

TOGETHER.

THIS WILL NOTIFY PEOPLE OF

RELEASE.

THAT IS A START STORY --

STATUTORY REQUIREMENT.

MARKIE: I KNOW THE RULES

COMMITTEE VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO

PUSH THIS THROUGH TO THE NEXT

POINT OF THE VOTING PROCESS.

HAVE WE TRIED TO PUSH IT THROUGH

BEFORE?

SCOTT: THIS IS ONE OF THE FIRST

BILLS PRESENTED ON THE HOUSE

FLOOR.

IT PASSED 90-5.

WE MADE A BIG PUSH THIS SESSION

TO MAKE SURE WE ASKED ABOUT THE

VICTIMS IN THE DISCUSSION WE

WERE HAVING.

THIS WAS THE VICTIMS BILL AND WE

GOT OUT.

MARKIE: WHAT IS GO NEXT?

SCOT IT'S WAITING ACTION IN

THE SENATE.

WE HAVE TWO MORE WEEKS OF HOUSE

BILLS AND THE SENATE WILL TAKE

THIS UP IN TWO WEEKS.

MARKIE DOES THIS COST THE STATE

ANYTHING?

SCOT IT DOESN'T COST THE STATE

ANYTHING.

ALL WE ARE IS LINE VICTIMS THE

OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE INVOLVEMENT

IN THEIR CASE.

MARKIE: ARE YOU HEARING ANY

PUSHBACK?

SCOTT: WITH CONSTITUENTS,

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

FELLOW LAWMAKERS, ABSOLUTELY.

THERE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE

PEOPLE OPPOSE.

THE CHALLENGE IS MAKING SURE WE

EDUCATED THOSE PEOPLE.

I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY

VICTIMS CAME FORWARD WAY TO

SHARE WHAT HAS HAPPENED AND HOW

THE SYSTEM HAS LET THEM DOWN.

THERE ARE FIVE PEOPLE WE NEED TO

WORK ON.

EDUCATION IS THE KEY.

MARKIE: IF YOU WERE TO GIVE

OKLAHOMA GRADE, WRITTEN DO WE

STAND IN GIVING VICTIMS OF

VIOLENCE - WHAT WOULD YOU GIVE

US?

SCOTT: WE HAVE DONE THINGS.

WE HAVE MADE IMPROVEMENTS, THERE

For more infomation >> 'Marsy's Law' aimed at protecting domestic violence victims - Duration: 5:56.

'What is reasonable protection for domestic violence victims?' - Duration: 3:33.

MARKIE: W ARE CONTINUING OUR

CONVERSATION.

THE LA WOULD GIVE VICTIMS OF

VIOLENCE EXTRA PROTECTIONS.

WHAT IS REASONABLE PROTECTION?

WHO WILL PROVIDE IT?

SCOTT: THERE IS NO COST TO THE

STATE.

WE ARE GIVING PEOPLE NOTICE AND

OPPORTUNITY.

WHO WILL PROVIDED?

IT WILL START WITH THE POLICE

OFFICER IN THE FIELD WHEN THEY

ENCOUNTER A VICTIM.

HE WILL LET THEM KNOW WH THEIR

RIGHTS ARE AND IT WILL CONTINUE

THROUGH THE DAS OFFICE AND THE

COURT SYSTEM.

WILL MAKE SURE THAT THE

VICTIMS RIGHTS ARE PROTECTED.

MARKIE: IT SEEMS LIKE THERE

WOULD BE A LOT OF EXTRA WORK TO

NOTIFY FAMILIES, MAY BETTER

PROTECTION OR A GUA?

HOW IS THERE NO COST?

SCOTT: IT IS SIMPLY INFORMING

THEM AND MAY GIVING THEM A SLIP

OF PAPER.

THE COSTS ARE VERY MINIMAL

EXCEPT FOR TAKING A LITTLE BIT

OF TIME TO MAKE SURE THE RIGHTS

ARE CONSIDERED.

MARKIE I WANTED TO PROTECT HER

LAST NAME.

SHE SAID I AM GOING TO THIS AS

WE SPEAK.

I HAVE TO CALL THE JAIL EVERYDAY

TO MAKE SURE HE IS IN THERE.

ONE LESS THING NOT TO STRESS

OVER WOULD BE GREAT.

ARE YOU HEARING A LOT OF THOSE

THINGS PRICE FROM OKLAHOMANS?

SCOTT: THAT IS NOT THE ONLY ONE.

WE HEAR IT TIME AND TIME AND

TIME AGAIN.

PEOPLE JUST WANT TO BE NOTIFIED.

THEY WANT PEOPLE T REMEMBER

THEY ARE A VICTIM AND BE TAKEN

CARE OF.

THEY WANT TO CALL DOC AND MAKE

SURE THE INMATE IS NOT RELEASED.

I AM SORRY SHE IS HAVING TO GO

THROUGH THAT.

THIS WOULD CHANGE THAT.

MARKIE CAN YOU GIVE US AN

ESTIMATE OF HOW MANY OKLAHOMANS

THIS WOULD HELP?

HOW MANY WOULD IMPACT?

SCOTT: WHEN YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, WE ARE IN THE

TOP 10, ESPECIALLY FOR HOMICIDES

RELATED TO THE MYSTIC VIOLENCE.

APRIL IS VIOLENCE VICTIMS MONTH.

WE WILL MAKE SURE THAT VICTIMS

KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE WORKING

FO THEM, ESPECIALLY HERE IN

APRIL.

MARKIE YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE

A BIG EVENT?

SCOT WE WILL HAVE SOME BIG

CHANGES.

WE WILL HELP THE STATE MOVING

FORWARD.

MARKIE TELL ME ABOUT THE

TIMELINE OF THIS.

THIS WILL BE UP TO THE VOTERS IN

2018.

SCOTT: IT SAILED THROUGH THE

HOUSE.

IT IS IN THE SENATE DID ONCE THE

SENATE TAKES ACTION, IT WILL BE

THE BALLOT.

MARKIE: I DO HAVE ONE MORE

QUESTION.

IF VOTERS AGREE TO PASS THIS,

WHAT POINT WOULD BE IMPLEMENTED?

WE SEE A LOT O STATE QUESTIONS

BUT IT MAY TAKE A COUPLE OF

YEARS BEFORE WE SEE IT PUT INTO

PLACE.

SCOT JANUARY, 2019.

IT WILL BE AS QUICKLY AS

POSSIBLE AFTER THE PEOPLE VOTE

FOR IT.

MARKIE: WE WILL FOLLOW IT VERY

CLOSELY.

'State of Addiction: Lessons for the Future' - Part 4 - Duration: 10:04.

HELLO.

I PLAY ICE HOCKEY FOR THE NEW

JERSEY DEVILS.

SOMEONE RECENTLY REACHED OUT TO

SEE IF I COULD SPREAD AWARENESS.

AN EVENT TAKING PLACE

ON TUESDAY, MARCH 7.

IT IS NO SECRET WE HAVE AN

OPIOID ABUSE EPIDEMIC IN MY HOME

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE.

CHANCES ARE YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO

IS SUFFERING AS A RESULT ON

BEING DEPENDENT ON OPIOIDS.

IT IS HARD TO KICK.

YOU ARE THE FUTURE OF OUR STATE

AND WE CAN OVERCOME THIS

EPIDEMIC IN THIS EVENT IS AN

AWESOME PLACE TO START.

SEAN: THE SUMMIT WAS A STARTING

POINT.

MORE WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE.

ERIN: FOR A LOOK AT WHERE WE GO

FROM HERE, WE SAT DOWN WITH

TRACY BACHERT , A RECOVERY COACH

AND MOTHER OF A SON IN RECOVERY,

AND THE SUMMIT'S ORGANIZERS.

JON DELENA OF THE DRUG

ENFORECMENT AGENCY, JIM WAHLBERG

OF THE WAHLBERG YOUTH

FOUNDATION.

>> MY HOPE IS THAT THEY ARE

GOING TO TALK TO EACH OTHER,

TALK TO THEIR PARENTS THEIR

SIBLINGS MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES,

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE STATE

OF NEW HAMPSHIRE.

IT IS THIS BIG AND IT HAS THE

MOST OVERDOSE DEATHS IN THE

COUNTRY PER CAPITA.

THAT IS SCARY.

ERIN: WHAT DO YOU THINK WAS MOST

POWERFUL FOR THE KIDS TODAY?

>> WHEN YOU GET A BIG GROUP

TOGETHER, THERE IS A CERTAIN

AMOUNT OF ENERGY IN THE ROOM.

THE FEEDBACK I GOT AFTER THE

EVENT IS THE SAME I GOT WHEN THE

MOVIE ENDS, AND THE PARENTS TAKE

THE STAGE, AND THEY ARE HOLDING

THE PICTURE, I THINK THAT IS THE

ONE THING, THE ONE IMAGE THESE

KIDS TAKE AWAY WITH THEM.

YOU LOOK AT THE MOMS, THE DADS,

AND THEY LOOK A LOT LIKE THE

MOMS AND DADS WE LOOK LIKE AND

YOU LOOK AT THE PICTURES OF THE

KIDS.

THEY ARE HEALTHY LOOKING.

I SAW PICTURES OF SOLDIERS.

ATHLETES.

AND I THINK THAT REALLY HITS

HOME WITH THESE KIDS.

IT REALLY DOES.

EARLY ON IN THE PRESENTATION, WE

PLAYED VIDEO CLIP OF THREE YOUNG

MEN IN RECOVERY.

JUST THEIR STORIES ALONE, IT

HITS HOME TO HEAR THE STORIES.

ERIN: YOU KNOW SOME OF THE

FAMILIES UP ON THE STAGE.

>> I THINK THE KIDS IN THE

AUDIENCE TO THEM.

ONE OF THEM WAS MY DAUGHTER'S

FIRST BABYSITTER.

WE KNEW A LOT OF THEM.

ERIN: TELL US ABOUT YOUR STORY.

>> MY SON JUSTIN STARTED WITH

PERCOCET WHEN HE WAS 20 YEARS

OLD, IN COLLEGE.

AND OVER TWO YEARS IT MOVED INTO

SUBOXONE, HEROIN, SMOKING AND

SNORTING IT.

IT WAS PROBABLY THREE YEARS IN

BEFORE WE STARTED TO SEE NEEDLES

.

IT WAS PROBABLY THREE YEARS IN

BEFORE WE KNEW WHAT WAS GOING

ON.

IT IS NOT AS SIMPLE AS SMOKING

POT OR COCAINE WHERE YOU CAN SEE

THEY ARE NOT EATING OR SLEEPING

OR THEY SMELL FUNNY.

TAKING THE PERCOCET, THERE WAS

NOT A LOT OF OBVIOUS SIGNS.

BY THE TIME YOU KNOW SOMETHING

IS GOING ON, THEY HAVE BEEN

DOING IT A WHILE.

ERIN: WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO

PARENTS?

>> GO WITH YOUR GUT.

IF YOU THINK THERE IS SOMETHING

WRONG, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG.

YOU KNOW YOUR CHILD BETTER THAN

ANYONE ELSE.

DON'T BE AFRAID, LIKE THE MOTHER

IN THE MOVIE.

SHE WENT TO THE OTHER MOTHER.

DON'T BE AFRAID OF LOSING A

FRIEND BY TRYING TO SAVE A KID'S

LIFE.

MAKE THE CALL.

IF YOU THINK THERE IS SOMETHING

WRONG, THERE PROBABLY IS.

>> THE PROBLEM IS THAT PEOPLE

HAVE THESE ISSUES AND THEY LOOK

FOR HELP AND THEY HAVE THEIR KID

PUT TO GO SOMEWHERE, WHATEVER IT

IS.

THERE IS NOWHERE FOR THEM TO GO.

>> IT IS A SMALL WINDOW.

>> A TEENY WINDOW.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A PLACE THEY

, AIN'T GOING ANYMORE.

>> IN NEW HAMPSHIRE LEICESTER,

WE TOOK IN 1200 POUNDS OF

UNWANTED PRESCRIPTIONS.

WE NEED TO KEEP THAT UP.

COMING UP ON APRIL 29 IS OUR

NEXT DRUG TAKE BACK DAY.

PEOPLE ASK ME THIS ISN'T IN M

HOME.

WHAT CAN I DO?

CLEAN OUT YOUR CABINETS.

DON'T LET IT FALL VICTIM TO A

CHILDREN'S FRIEND IN YOUR HOUSE

OR AN ELECTRICIAN OR CARPENTER

AND ENDS UP IN THE WRONG PLACE

LET'S GET IT OUT OF THE HOUSE.

THE KIDS NEED TO NOT BE

AFRAID TO TELL ON A FRIEND.

NOT FEEL THAT THEY ARE BETRAYING

THEM.

THEY COULD SAVE THEIR LIFE.

I'D RATHER HAVE FRIEND ANGRY

THAN DEA

WE NEED TO PUSH THAT.

IF YOU KNOW YOUR FRIEND HAS

TRIED IT AND HE IS NOT LISTENING

TO YOU, YOU HAVE TO LET SOMEBODY

KNOW.

>> PARENTS WANT TO ACT LIKE IF I

DON'T ADDRESS IT FOR ACKNOWLEDGE

IT MAYBE IT WILL GO AWAY AND

IT'S NOT GOING TO GO AWAY.

WE SAW 100 PARENTS ON THAT STAGE

LIKE THIS LOVELY WOMAN, LIKE ME,

AND THEY LOVE TO THEIR KIDS JUST

AS MUCH AS ANY OF US.

THE KIDS ARE GONE.

THE KIDS ARE GONE.

WE NEED PARENTS TO COME OUT AND

HAVE A CONVERSATION, TO TALK TO

THE KIDS.

YOU KNOW IT IS NO LONGER MCGRUFF

AND COLORING BOOKS WE ARE HAVING

A DIFFERENT CONVERSATION WITH

THESE KIDS AND STARTING YOUNGER

AND YOUNGER.

AND SADLY THERE IS NO PLAYBOOK

FOR THIS.

WE CAN'T LOOK BACK AND SEE THIS

IS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO SAY AND

HOW WE ARE GOING TO DO IT

BECAUSE IT IS DIFFERENT NOW THAN

EVER BEFORE.

BUT PLACES LIKE NEW ENGLAND AND

, HAVING PARTNERS LIKE THE MARK

WAHLBERG FOUNDATION AND GUYS

LIKE JIM THAT ARE WILLING TO

JOIN US WE ARE TRYING TO FIGURE

, THIS OUT AS WE ARE GOING AND

WE ARE HAVING SOME SUCCESS TODAY

WAS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF HOW W

CAN HAVE SOME SUCCESS.

WE BROUGHT A LOT OF KIDS

TOGETHER AND TALKED ABOUT A

SERIOUS MESSAGE BUT WE DID IT IN

A POSITIVE WAY WE EMPOWERED

THESE KIDS TO LEAVE HERE TO FEEL

GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES TO BE ABLE

TO MAKE GOOD HEALTHY DECISIONS

AND HAVE A CONVERSATION YOU

HEARD FROM JIM MOSER WHO SAID

TALK TO PARENTS ABOUT WHAT YOU

SAW TODAY.

THAT IS OUR HOPE.

ERIN: JON DELENA MENTIONED THE

VERY IMPORTANT DEA DRUG TAKEBACK

DAY.

AGAIN THAT IS HAPPENING ON APRIL

29.

YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO CLEAN OUT

THOSE MEDICINE CABINETS AND TAKE

YOUR UNUSED MEDICATIONS TO A

DRUG TAKE BACK SITE.

THE MORE THAN 100 LOCATI

BE ANNOUNCED ON APRIL FIRST.

SEAN A VERY EASY WAY TO HELP

THE CAUSE.

STUDENTS AND FAMILIES OUT THERE,

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.

ERIN: KIDS, WE HOPE THAT YOU ARE

FEELING INSPIRED AND EMPOWERED

AFTER THE YOUTH SUMMIT AND

WATCHING TONIGHT.

>> WE NEED TO EDUCATE OUR

FRIENDS, WE NEED TO EDUCATE OUR

SIBLINGS AND OUR PARENTS, WE

DON'T NEED TO HAVE ANYMORE

PICTURES UP ON THIS SCREEN.

>> IT DOESN'T STOP HERE GUYS

.

DON'T FORGET.

THIS THING CONTINUES.

TAKE THIS MESSAGE HOME LIKE JIM

SAID.

ERIN: SO, HERE'S YOUR CHALLENGE,

WMUR AND DEA 360 ARE TEAMING UP

TO LAUNCH THE EMPOWER YOUTH

VIDEO PROJECT.

WE WANT YOU TO USE YOUR VOICES

AND SEND US A 30-SECOND VIDEO ON

HOW YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

YOUR COMMUNITY BY EMPOWERING

ACTION.

SEAN: ALL OF THE DETAILS ON WHAT

YOU NEED TO DO CAN BE FOUND IN

THE STATE OF ADDICTION SECTION

OF OUR WEBSITE WMUR.COM AND OU

WMUR MOBILE APP.

HELP US OUT WITH THAT.

ERIN: COMING UP NEXT

JOIN US ON OUR WMUR FACEBOOK

PAGE FOR A LIVE CONVERSATION,

ABOUT EMPOWERING OUR TEENS

.

SEAN: ALSO THE SIGNS TO LOOK OUT

FOR

AND ALSO HOW TO TALK TO OUR

KIDS.

WE HAVE A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO

ARE HELPING TO FIGHT THE OPIOID

CRISIS IN NEW HAMPSHIRE EVERY

DAY.

THEY'RE READY AND WAITING TO

HEAR FROM YOU.

ERIN: THANK YOU FOR JOINING U

TONIGHT.

OUR HOPE IS THAT STUDENTS AND

FAMILY MEMBERS FEEL INSPIRED AND

THAT THEY HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE

A DIFFERENCE AFTER HEARING SO

MANY STORIES OF ADDICTION,

RECOVERY AND HOW LIVING A

HEALTHY LIFE CAN LEAD TO

SUCCESS.

SEAN: IF YOU TAKE ANYTHING AWAY

FROM THIS THE HOUR

THE REMINDER FROM THE MOSER

FAMILY TO HAVE THE CONVERSATION.

IT ALL STARTS WITH YOU, CLEAN

OUT THOSE MEDICINE CABINETS

, SPEAK UP AND FIND HEALTHY

, ALTERNATIVES.

ERIN: PLEASE JOIN US NOW ON

FACEBOOK TO CONTINUE THE

CONVERSATION AND HAVE A GREAT

NIGHT.

>> WHEN YOU SEE SOMETHING NOT

WORKING, SAY SOMETHING.

IF SOMETHING IS WORKING, GET

BEHIND IT.

>> TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE A

DIFFERENCE.

TOGETHER.

ALONE, WE WILL NOT MAKE MUCH OF

A DIFFERENCE.

TOGETHER WE CAN BEAT THIS THING.

FOR YOU, YOU ARE THE NEXT

GENERATION.

YOU ARE THE FUTURE.

YOU ARE THE ONES THAT ARE

ACTUALLY GOING TO SEE THIS THING

THROUGH AND TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.

The VB Maze Tour, Confined Space Training | Virginia Beach - Duration: 2:39.

Welcome to the VB Maze!

You are gonna go over

And then you are gonna go up

this maze grab hold of the body

parts and stuff

Aaaah!

You see?

So, I left that one in place

Some of the guys in your class got to unlatch that one time

And I told them to stop

They found a door so they can feel the latch

and they tried to unlatch it and said No, No, No

you can't unlatch in there

I never saw the latch

I never even felt it

because see how you gotta cut through there

if you keep on straight

you can go around a bend

I can open or block that off

and send you in a loop right here

Ok so that's what happened to me

I can see how we doing because there's one on each floor

Aah, you have one on each floor

Where'd you get Dyer out?

On the first one there

That tall panel right there

Oh you got here out right there

So it opens to the rafters

Get a picture in it

Anyway this swings

Sorry

Hopefully we can build like this

Oh yeah. The one on the bottom, it's the same

Yes Sir!

The rafters are right here Mella

This one if you go up yup

The rafters are actually right there where you're at

Oh Ok.

This is where Freddy passed gas

Yes

Fredy has a mean gas

And you were crying and whining about it

So if you pull it out of place

and move it around

Oh no he's gonna charge again

No!
