President Trump is taking a lot of credit for jobs that have been created in the United

States over the last few months, jobs that were actually created under the Barack Obama

economy.

They were Barack Obama policies, Barack Obama's negotiations.

Donald Trump has done nothing to actually create these jobs.

However, here is one thing that President Trump can take credit for, the destruction

of no fewer than 3,000 very well paying jobs at Environmental Protection Agency because

according to a leaked draft of the Trump administration's EPA budget, they're going to cut funding for

the Environmental Protection Agency by 30% this year.

That's just one year.

Yes, analysts are estimating that's going to cost at least 3,000 jobs.

Again, government jobs with good benefits, good pay, gone, because Republicans like Donald

Trump and Steve Bannon want to prove to the Republican base that the government doesn't

work.

They do that by destroying the government and making it not work.

It is a self-fulfilling prophecy by design.

They campaign on the notion that the government sucks.

We hate the government.

You can't do anything for you.

Then when they get elected, they make sure the government can't do anything for you,

and the Republicans are dumb enough to buy it.

The EPA's not cleaning up this shit.

No, they're not because they have no money anymore because Donald Trump just killed their

budget or because the Republicans just signed a law trying to repeal clean water protections

and clean air protections because that's where we're headed.

Let me ask you this.

Do you like to breathe?

Do you like to walk outside, take a deep breath of clean air?

In a few years under this Republican administration, that literally may not be possible.

Clean water in streams and rivers and lakes could be poisoned if the Republicans have

their way.

They've already repealed several protections for smaller bodies of water, marshes, swamps,

lakes, streams, bodies of water that do end up feeding into aquifers, but now corporations

have been given the green light to dump all their toxic garbage into those bodies of water

because that's what Republicans want for America.

They want corporations to do that.

Then when people cry for the EPA to come help, the EPA can't, and then Republicans get to

tell you, "Hey, I told you the government didn't work very well, and now look, it doesn't

work very well, right?"

People aren't smart enough to put the pieces together to realize that the reason the government

doesn't work is because Republicans don't want the government to work properly.

James Nestor: Secrets of Dolphin and Whale Communication | Bioneers 2016 Short Clips Series - Duration: 3:15.

It appears that these animals are communicating with clicks

and we're just starting to understand what those may be.

And the key to understanding the click communication between these animals

is to first understand their echolocation.

Now, dolphins and whales view the world through clicks,

through a form of sonar. What they do is they send out a very

loud signal and they wait for the echo of that signal to come back.

And they collect all of that beneath their jaws

and they process that to see with sound

better than you and I can see with our eyes.

A dolphin can tell the difference between a ping pong ball and a golf ball

from 300 feet away by clicking with sound.

And a sperm whale can see a human from a mile away – a mile deep

These are the loudest animal sounds on the planet

sperm whale clicks are

and they can actually penetrate through flesh

so they can get a 3-D view of what you look like.

Now, we've known about cetacean echolocation

for 50, 60 years

but what we've learned more recently is they use these clicks in social behavior.

And these clicks are extremely detailed.

A sperm whale can repeat the same click over and over again

down to the millisecond

then can move around discrete frequencies within that millisecond-long click

move them around and reorganize them, and repeat those over and over again.

This is more precise than anything humans can make.

Okay? It's not a dog barking.

This is obviously some form of communication

and we're just sort of getting a view into what that might be.

The problem is that a lot of people view

cetacean communication as some new age theory.

This can't possibly be true.

These animals can't possibly be speaking in a sophisticated language like ours.

But just take into consideration the sperm whale brain.

It is six times the size of ours.

Sperm whales have a neocortex,

which in humans governs higher level functions such as conscious thought,

future planning, and language.

Their neocortex is about six times the size of ours.

They also have spindle cells. These are highly developed brain structures

that neurologists have associated with feelings of

compassion, love, suffering, intuition, and guess what: speech.

So these are the cells that are supposed to make humans human,

separate us from other animals.

Sperm whales not only have spindle cells, but they've had them for 15 million years longer than we have.

So what are they doing with them?

Animals don't grow big complex brains for no reason.

They obviously are growing them for something.

And just for instance, humans have-

we've had our current size brain for around 200,000 years.

Pretty long time. Right?

They've had theirs for about 30 or 40 million years

So they're leaps and bounds ahead of us.

James Nestor: Whale Communication | Bioneers 2016 Short Clips Series - Duration: 1:03.

We know the animals are viewing their world through clicks

through sonograms

also holograms

We believe that we can capture these and send them back

So it's not so much saying hello,

it's sending a picture of our world to their world

and back and forth.

And a lot of people thought, three years ago when I introduced this idea

in my book Deep

that this was never going to happen,

these guys don't have any ability to do this

It just seemed like a just sort of new age dream.

But we were just at the U.N. about three weeks ago,

and we're leaving on Monday morning

to go conduct the first stages of this research

in Mauritius for about three weeks.

So it's happening now.

and these guys are the only people who are going to really...

Thank you.

James Nestor: Swimming with Sperm Whales | Bioneers 2016 Short Clips Series - Duration: 1:44.

What is it like to do field research with the largest predators on the planet?

I'm going to show you what that's like.

This video was taken about three years ago

The clicking you hear is not coming from a boat, it's not coming from a camera.

that's what it sounds like to be in the water with a sperm whale.

It's so loud your body vibrates and starts heating up

After about thirty seconds.

This is a calf. This is what it looks like and sounds like to be clicked

by a sperm whale calf.

Right after this, the cameraman here reached his hand out

to stop the whale from bumping into his camera,

and the whale's nose was vibrating so violently,

his arm was asleep for about four hours.

It was paralyzed.

So he's going to take a dive and the whale is going to get really curious now…

So that goes on for about four hours

until these guys were so exhausted

they had to go and eat some peanut butter sandwiches and head back in.

What is a Convection Oven | How Do Convection Ovens Work - Duration: 1:46.

So this is our DCOT5, and the reason I'm so

excited about this product is because

it's the first in its category. So what I

mean by that is that of all half-size 5-

pan glass-door convection ovens, this oven

comes in the first out of all energy star

certified appliances. So what that means is

for every dollar of energy that's going

into this oven, 78 cents is going right back

into heating the product and the food. And I'd

like to take a minute to show you the Bake

on these cookies right here. As you can see, not

one of these cookies is different. They

all look the same. They're completely evenly

baked. And the reason I'm able to do that is

because I have a two speed fan on this

oven. So I'm able to switch from low

fan to high fan. So for delicate

products like cookies or croissants

or muffins, I can use a low fan option. But when

I need to bake faster I'm able to switch

it up to high speed as well. It's also

completely programmable so all i have to do

is come over here when I'm ready, press

cookie--I can't even put a picture of

one if I need to. Wait for it to pre-heat,

and then I have to press start. So

simple, literally anyone can use it.

It's also got a cool to the touch

glass-door, as well as a cool to the touch

handle, and its small space is completely

perfect for convenience stores, gas

stations, bars--anyone that has somewhat

limited space. So it's going to get you--

going to save you time and labor. Gonna save you

money and energy. And it's also just

going to be- it's going to give you a

completely even bake with such a small

footprint.
