Welcome back.

I'm Trisha Hershberger and In this episode of DIY in 5 we share some tips & tricks on

taking awesome photos on your Google Pixel.

Don't forget to subscribe and check out our other smartphone photography videos.

So let's talk High Dynamic Range or HDR.

One of the most impressive parts of the Pixel's camera is the HDR mode.

This takes multiple shots at different exposures and then combines them into a single image

with better contrast, colors, and dynamic range than you get with a normal picture.

To set HDR+ to auto, open up the camera app and tap HDR+ Auto.

Next, the Pixel has a trick to help with composing your shot as well.

We've talked about the rule of thirds before and this next tip just helps reinforce that.

By turning the gridlines on, you can compose shots

by placing your subject at a strategic location in the photo.

The grid will act as a guide, helping you align the horizon with the top or bottom third,

instead of leaving it in the middle, to create interesting shots that aren't always just centered.

To turn it on, tap on the grid button and choose the grid size.

You can choose between 3x3, 4x4, and golden ratio.

Easy peasy!

One of the most frustrating things in the world is when the perfect shot goes right

on by because you couldn't get your camera up and running fast enough!

Open! Open! Open!

Mr. Gyllenhaal, wait!

Damn it!

The Pixel has some quick shortcuts to open up the camera app.

You can long-press the camera's app icon and it will bring up shortcuts to take a selfie

or record video.

Or you can double-press the power button and the camera app will open.

When you want to switch between the rear and front camera, double twist the phone toward

or away from you.

Twist again to go back to the previous camera.

Kinda cool.

You can turn this feature off if it's not your thing.

Go to phone settings, then moves, then flip command and turn it off.

When you first get your phone, the volume button will act as a shutter release.

You can change this to shutter, zoom or other camera-related tasks by going to the camera setting

and selecting volume key action.

Customization is the best.

Speaking of customization, let's talk about shooting modes to give your shot that individual touch.

Google's camera app might not have all the filters & effects you want, like on Instagram or Snapchat,

but they do have some cool features.

It has slow motion, panorama, photo sphere, and lens blur.

Lens blur is probably the most unique out of all of the modes.

Tap the shutter icon and take a picture of the object you want to use the blur mode with.

You can adjust the blurriness after you take the photo.

And of course, you can customize picture and video quality by opening Camera settings and

switching to your preferred resolution.

You should put the front and back camera at the highest settings:

front is at 8 megapixel and back is at 12.3 megapixel.

The video camera is defaulted to record in 1080p.

But, with free, unlimited storage at full quality, there is no reason to have 4K turned off!

Bring it in, a little bit closer.

Yeah, that's the sweet 4k I'm talking about!

To turn on 4K, go to camera settings, then select back camera video resolution.

Nothing ruins a sweet video like a shaky cam.

If you are simply panning around while you are recording your video,

the stabilization feature on it is quite impressive.

If you plan on moving the phone and walking around, you may want to turn off

the image stabilization since it tends to skip around a lot.

Play with it and see how you feel.

If you decide you want to disable the feature,

go to camera settings, then video stabilization and turn it off.

Why Don't Republicans Understand That Trump Is Destroying Their Brand? - Duration: 4:57.

There are a lot of things that I don't understand about the Republican Party in the United States.

I don't understand how they're able to continuously fleece voters into voting against their own

self-interests.

I don't understand how they're able to convince people that they're going to do something

about abortion, even though every time they've had majorities at every level of government,

they've just said, "Nah, we're not going to do it, but we're going to talk about it in

the campaigns and get you religious people to come vote for us."

But the thing that I don't understand the most is how Republicans in Washington, DC,

today can sit silently by when they see Donald Trump doing so much damage to their party.

You know, before the Republican Party was hijacked by the extremists, by the Religious

Right, it wasn't all that bad.

They've got some good things on their historical résumé.

But for the last 80, 90, maybe a hundred years, the party has been complete garbage, and getting

worse year by year.

So, say I'm Paul Ryan right now, and I'm looking around, and I'm seeing what's going on in

DC, and seeing how much damage Donald Trump is doing to my party, seeing his poll numbers

plummet, seeing the angry people show up at town halls because of what I, Paul Ryan, am

doing, and I'm just going to let it go?

The Republicans had a real opportunity here to take the lead and say that what Donald

Trump is doing is wrong and he doesn't represent mainstream conservatives or Republicanism.

Instead, they didn't do that, he hijacked the message, and he became the face and the

voice of the Republican Party today.

If you are Republican, you stand for what Donald Trump stands for, because nobody else

in a leadership position was willing to stand up and say, "He doesn't speak for us."

He is in charge, and the Republicans in Washington are too timid, too weak, or too paid off to

fight back against him, even though they know, they see what's coming in 18 months, those

2018 midterms, where they will likely lose the House of Representatives.

They see it.

They're just either too stupid or too scared to do anything about it.

Now, I fully 100% acknowledge that they deserve this, and I want them to lose big time in

the midterms.

I want them to lose the Senate, and I want them to lose the White House forever.

I'm not trying to defend the Republican Party or give them tips on how to get better.

I'm simply questioning why these people are so spineless that they won't speak out against

a man who is destroying everything they allegedly love.

It doesn't make any sense unless they also believe what he believes, unless they're also

as corrupt as he is.

That is the only logical explanation why these Republicans would sit silently by while this

man destroys their party for a generation, because that's what's going to happen at the

polls.

And I know we have John McCain out there saying that firing Comey was bad, and more shoes

are about to drop on Russia.

We have Lindsey Graham out there saying, "We want Donald Trump's tax returns, because we

need to know about his business dealings to see if there's conflicts of interest there."

But you're also talking about ... That's two people, and McCain and Graham are just as

bad.

They're even more hawkish when it comes to foreign policy than Donald Trump has been,

so that's not a relief.

Yeah, they're talking about the need to go around him and find out what kind of crappy

things he's doing, but they're not going to be any better, and they only want to do it

because they want the power for themselves.

Both men have run for president a couple times and lost.

That's what's happening today.

The Republican Party is falling apart, they're absolutely imploding, and it's because there

isn't a single one who is willing to stand up and tell Donald Trump, "No."

"No, you cannot speak for my party."

"No, you cannot do this, you cannot do that."

"You cannot get on Twitter.

I'm taking your phone away."

Nobody had the guts to say any of that, and because of this, they're going to find their

rightful place on the ash heap of history as a monument to their spineless, cowardly

bowing down to Donald Trump, and they absolutely deserve that.

So you want to know how to get the best Rocket Boost Start in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe huh?

Well, I've got some good news--if you already mastered it in Mario Kart 8, then you're already

good to go, because it hasn't changed.

So go ahead and close this video and get on with your day.

Just make sure to hit that Subscribe button before you leave--please?

But for the rest of you, well...you came to the right place.

Because learning how to properly time the Boost Start is essential to getting an early

lead and can have a profound impact on the entire race.

So here's what it boils down to.

During the countdown, hit gas as soon as the Number 2 appears and settles into place.

The better you time it, the longer the boost.

But you have to be careful, because if you hit gas too early, you'll burnout out--including

before the "2" fully settles into place--and even for a few frames after.

Which is why you shouldn't try and anticipate it--Instead, wait until 2 locks into, AND

THEN hit the gas.

As long as you're quick--but not too quick--you should get the best possible boost.

To better show what I mean, let's show it again in slow motion--and this time, watch

Mario's tires since they'll spin exactly when I hit the gas.

So Here's the Number Two, and you can see me hit the gas just after it locks into place.

Yep!

It's a perfect boost start--and it'll get us to 1st coin ahead more than a full

second faster than having no boost at all.

Nice!

And even if you mis-time it and get a weaker boost, it's still better than nothing.

Just don't burn out, otherwise it'll put you more than a second behind someone with

no boost, and 2 seconds behind someone who nails the boost.

But we have one more tip for you: if you catch yourself rev'ing up too early and are afraid

you might burnout--immediately stop rev'ing, and then try again.

If you managed to avoid rev'ing up too much, you might still be able to land that boost

start,

Trust me, that's saved my tailpipe more than a time or too.

OPTICS, THE APPEARANCE OF INDEPENDENCE, NOT ONLY OF HIM,

BUT OF THE FBI. >> BUT HE WAS GOING THAT VERY

NIGHT TO THE DINNER. DO YOU KNOW WHY HE FELT HE HAD

JENKINS WAS A PROSPECTIVE

STUDENT AT PHILLIPS EXETER

ACADEMY.

THE ADMISSIONS OFFICER AT THE

TIME WAS ARTHUR PEEKEL.

COUNTY ATTORNEY PATRICIA CONWAY

RECOUNTED WHAT HAPPENED 43 YEARS

AGO, WHEN PEEKEL TOLD TWO BOYS

THAT THEY COULDN'T SPEND THE

NIGHT IN THE DORM.

MS. CONWAY: TWO COTS WERE PUSHED

UP AGAINST THE DEFENDANT'S BED.

RAY: AND DURING THE NIGHT,

PEEKEL SEXUALLY ABUSED JENKINS.

JENKINS SAYS HE SPENT THAT NIGHT

IN TERROR, BELIEVING HE WAS

GOING TO BE KILLED, AND AFTER

TELLING HIS PARENTS --

LAWRENCE: TWO DAYS AFTER IT

HAPPENED, I WENT TO THE LIVING

ROOM OF THE PRINCIPAL'S HOUSE

AND WAS QUESTIONED VERY IN

DEPTH.

RAY: THE RESULT WAS THAT AT THE

END OF THE YEAR, PEEKEL LEFT THE

ACADEMY TO TEACH ELSEWHERE.

JENKINS EVENTUALLY REPORTED WHAT

HAD HAPPENED TO POLICE IN APRIL

OF 2015, SOMETHING THAT HELPED

HIM GET PAST HIS FEELINGS OF

SELF-LOATHING THAT HE HAD BEEN

LIVING WITH.

LAWRENCE: IT'S THERE WHETHER YOU

KNOW IT OR NOT, AND THE PROCESS

OF CONFRONTING IT HAS BEEN FOR

ME EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.

RAY: UNDER THE NEGOTIATED PLEA,

PEEKEL WAS SENTENCED TO 12

MONTHS, ALL SUSPENDED.

HE WILL ALSO HAVE TO PAY A FINE,

UNDERGO A SEX-OFFENDER

EVALUATION, AND REGISTER AS A

SEX OFFENDER FOR 10 YEARS.

JENKINS SAYS HE'S FINE WITH

PEEKEL NOT GOING TO JAIL, SAYING

PEEKEL'S REPUTATION IS

PERMANENTLY STAINED.

LAWRENCE: HE SAID HE WAS GUILTY.

WHETHER HE BELIEVES IT OR NOT --

HE'S GUILTY

RAY: PEEKEL HAD NOTHING TO SAY

AS HE WAS HUSTLED OUT OF THE

COURTHOUSE BY HIS ATTORNEY.
