Warm-up is a very important part of the workout

and I always feel at the peak of my performance when I'm warmed up properly.

This is the routine I've been lately doing using a resistance band.

It covers whole upper body and is targeted at warming up not only muscles

but joints as well, especially elbows.

The routine consists of 10 exercises that target specific muscle group

or specific skill movement pattern.

I'm gonna put this target in the corner of the screen so you can remember the routine easier.

I do 10 reps of each exercise, that is performed on two sides,

and 20 if the exercise uses both hands.

Usually, I do the routine twice. Let's get to it.

Writing Jazz Licks - The Best Way To Teach Yourself Jazz Guitar - Duration: 9:50.

- Hi everybody. My name is Jens Larsen.

We need to use the things that we practice.

If you already subscribe to my channel,

You know that I have a lot of videos

on arpeggio types, using different

chromatic enclosures and pentatonic scales

and the best way to get that into your playing,

is to write your own jazz licks.

In this video, I'm gonna take a simple

II V I in the key of Bb major,

and then I'm gonna start writing

some different jazz licks and I'm gonna

go over each step of the way and I'm gonna

talk about the thinking behind it.

In the process, I'll write five or six

II V I lines. With some arpeggios,

chromatic enclosures and altered dominance.

So, the the progression I'm using in this video

is a II V I, in the key of Bb.

And that would be this. So, Cm7 .

F7 to Bb (guitar chords)

So just to get started, we can take something

really simple. We need something on the two chord.

Let's just take the picture of the two chord itself.

So, a Cm7 , that would be this arpeggio.

And if we are playing lines in eighth notes,

also again to keep it a little bit simple

and also because, most of the time when you

are writing jazz and when you are working with jazz,

the main subdivision is going to be eighth notes.

So, we are no have covered four of the eight eighth notes

in the first bar. So we have to fill up

half a bar with material on Cm7 .

And the easiest way to do that is probably to decide

which note we want to land on on the F7.

So we have a target note that we are playing towards.

That's gonna make the line sound a lot more logical

and it's gonna give us some direction.

So, to make a really, obvious and clear choice

for our F7, let's do the third.

So the A, so that means that we are now

going to play

And then we need to go up with the melody

and it ends here in a logical way.

So there are a few ways we can do that.

The first one would be to use a chromatic enclosure

like this one.

But we can also use a smaller fragment from

the pentatonic scale, so actually this

is from G minor pentatonic scale.

(jazz guitar)

Or we can use another scale run.

(jazz guitar)

Or maybe a chromatic enclosure that has a few

more chromatic notes, so.

(jazz guitar)

If you look at these examples as an exercise,

in using Cm7 , then what's happening

is really simple.

I'm first just playing the Cm7 ,

which is what I'm working on.

Then, I'm deciding the target note on the F7

that I want to hit. Then, I'm using the vocabulary

that I already have to get a strong melody that

leads us from the Cm7 arpeggio and then

into the F7. In that way, I'm making melodies that

are both playable and also that I can hear a strong melody,

using the new material which is

the Cm7 arpeggio.

Of course you can this with any kind of structure

that you are working with, as long as you can

fit it in the bar.

This way of working is how you start to write licks

that move naturally from one chord to the next

and which also contain the material you are working on.

Let's take it a bit further and then try to be

a little bit more free with the target notes

and the material that we use and

how much direction it has by making it a

complete II V I line with an F7.

So, now that we have a complete II V I,

I chose to use the third again as the target note

on a Bb.

And for the rest, on the F7,

so I'm just using one of the examples of the Cm7,

so I'm not really gonna talk about that anymore

because that's gonna stay the same for now

and I'm just gonna make a few different variations

of what we can do with the F7.

So the first thing I'll play on the F7,

in this example is that. I'm just playing

the arpeggio from the third, but then in an

inversion, so it's an A half diminished.

So,

I'm sure you're aware of the fact that if

you have an F7, you can also use the

arpeggio from the third, which is an

A half diminished so, (jazz guitar)

And this is just an inversion of that,

(jazz guitar)

And then I'm using the F7 arpeggio

to make a small melody, so that's this.

(jazz guitar)

And the point of this is again, just the same

that I'm just trying to target the D.

(jazz guitar)

So, we get the (jazz guitar)

So, in this example, again using the same

Cm7 line, and then on the F7,

I also start with the same way, so I start with the

A half diminished arpeggio.

But now I'm using it as a motif, so the

way I'm constructing the rest of the line,

is repeating the melodic movement to use

(jazz guitar)

is then turned into. I'm starting on F.

So, F and then an Eb major triad.

(jazz guitar)

And then I'm resolving that to the D.

A lot of you, what happens here just kinda sounds like

(jazz guitar)

And then, the way you hear, at least

that's the way I hear it, the way you hear

the rest of the arpeggio,

(jazz guitar)

is just some added embellishment really.

(jazz guitar)

So, now I'm starting to use an altered dominant

on the F7. And of course, still starting with

the A because that note is still there.

And I'm not starting with an arpeggio this time

so I'll start with a small scale movement,

which is just moving around the scale in thirds,

so (jazz guitar)

And this allows me to target (jazz guitar)

the Gb on one, or the F sharp, depending on how

you think about that scale.

And then I'm going down a B, a major triad

(jazz guitar)

And then again, back up to the third

and then I can resolve that very easily

to the D. (jazz guitar)

So in this line, I'm using a different

scale run on the F7.

So, I get to the A, and then I'm skipping up to the Db

and then just making this small very simple scale melody

and then to get the D on the Bb,

I'm doing this movement which is

(jazz guitar)

basically like a pentatonic movement.

It's also very typical for me the way I think about it

as, sharp nine, flat nine, (jazz guitar)

and then, the Eb seven, flat 13

and then resolving that to the D.

(jazz guitar)

So in this example, I'm taking the same idea of using

a part of the F7 altered line as a motif,

so when I get to the F7 altered,

I'm now starting with an arpeggio, so

I'm starting with a descending B seven arpeggio.

And I'm using that as a motif, so

(jazz guitar)

I wanna repeat the melodic movement,

which is a descending arpeggio.

And, I do that by going up a third,

and then playing an Eb half diminished arpeggio

(jazz guitar) Resolve to the D,

because it's very nice to the D.

(jazz guitar)

This example uses a staggered false

on the F7 altered.

So, it's kind like playing an arpeggiated version

of an F7, sharp nine (jazz guitar)

Or a B seven 13, however you want to look at it.

So, we get

(jazz guitar)

the normal C7, Cm7 line,

third on the F7

and then the arpeggio, so

(jazz guitar)

Then, just down the scale.

Resolving to the D.

So as you can tell, it's important

to have some small patterns that you can

use as building blocks in longer lines

and that's also why I don't really study licks

that are complete II V I licks very often

I tend to just sort of play them and take them apart,

and then find the small bits that I like to use

and then work with those.

And I actually work with them in exactly this way.

And that's probably what you want to aim for as well,

so you want to have these small three four five note

patterns that you can use and then just work on using them

like this, really sit down and compose a lot of lines

with them and get used to sort of getting them to

fit into your playing so that you can use them

together with all your other things

that you are working with.

So maybe this is something I should

try in a live stream and just take a progression

and try and write some lines and show you

the things that I try out and what I think about it.

New Giant Box Jurassic World Surprise Dinosaurs For Kids #4 / T-Rex, Indominus Rex, Unboxing

mess we have created Wow this park is

populated mostly dinos some

crazy-looking creatures also so we got

the indominus t-rex got another big

t-rex there another huge indominus Wow

guys great to see you again

so glad you came back this is box number

4 this is the fourth big box of my

dinosaur toys I've got request from our

viewers to show all my dinosaur toys so

I am continuing the series and ragazza

veer off I'm seeing drastic world

Jurassic Park Animal Planet

Papo what else

Safari I think was cat so we got

anyways let's go ahead and get started

open these up and set them up in the car

okay so before we got started I went

ahead and set up my two thousand bull

fence here so that none of Martino's can

escape Wow

they are not getting through that we

have a power failure okay we're going to

start off with an awesome one this is a

limited edition limited edition on t-rex

Jurassic Park one that came with limited

edition DVD set habla I think Jurassic

Park one two and three so you got the

t-rex busting through the door you could

move it he's got like a rail system

Jurassic Park here in the back you could

see he busted through the door so this

is a really cool one I really like that

it's got a little plaque here that tells

what studio it came from and everything

so I'm going to go ahead and set this

one up right back here outside Gunther

actually I set it up in this back corner

here it's kind of confusing to set it up

right in the gate there so I'm gonna set

it up there with the tree okay then our

next one is the big red Rexy this is the

red red Rex

ah this is a Jurassic Park you see it

says drastic park oh nine over there

this one is very flexible the whole

thing is rubber so it's a huge rubber

t-rex and I like it because you could

shake it it looks like it's shaking me

had so you could have some battles if

this one this one I'm going to go ahead

and set all the way in the back here

like he's climbing the fence big guy is

huge hard to put them anywhere else okay

and then from Jurassic Park

we got cool t-rex puppet this one has

like a little flexible rubber arm so you

could fit your whole arm and suck your

whole hand inside so this would be adult

would be able to use this one too it's

not just for children

see it says JP there so this is a nice

big t-rex puppet which I'm going to set

in the back here because he is kind of

big and the next one is not a Dino ball

I thought he was really cool so I

included him this is the jetty or

abominable snowman from one of the

Animal Planet sets so this one has like

arms you can swing back and he he comes

with a snowball so he actually ends up

throwing the snowball so this guy is

good-looking I'm going to set him on the

side here by the waterfall and then we

have a really cool chaos effect of

velociraptor with the third claw don't

forget some of the Jurassic world ones

they left off the third claw and a lot

of people

this one said like it says JP I think

that's a one I'm not positive so this

guy is really cool in colorful we're

going to go ahead and set him up on this

side and then next we have a drastic

world hybrid velociraptor so this guy's

got the action you push down on his tail

he chomps his mouth he makes like a

chopping noise and then he's got the

blues here if you push it it lights off

fancy roars and then of course this one

is like the third one generation or

generation or Jurassic world so he does

have the third cloth there so we're

going to go ahead and set this guy up

and move back here by the gate and then

next we have a really cool papal

velociraptor papal does a great job with

detail so this one the mouth does open

and close it's not the biggest size but

it does include the third claw lots of

detail and ah guys all of these

dinosaurs I'm showing you I have done

full reviews of all of these and

unboxings and battles so if you want to

check those out you can go to the

playlist at the end of this video the

drastic world playlist and they should

be in there and we're going to set them

up there under the tree

and then another Jurassic Park will also

Raptor I might have showed you guys one

of these in the first box but I have

duplicates so I wasn't a hundred percent

sure so I wanted to make sure that he is

included so I've put him back in here

again so JP oh six

well not again because I have mom and

then we have a cool one by put cat this

is a Acrocanthosaurus so this guy is

similar and looked to the t-rex nice big

teeth I don't this is another one the

ones I don't like how they bent his neck

there it looks kind of weird dark green

like a lighter green color screen so

this was all right it's not the greatest

I mean I've seen much better than that

but it's not it's not that bad and then

we have a small indominus rex so i was

action features if you push down on the

tail he like lifts his head and chomps

his mouth he's got like the wound on the

side the JW logo here so this guy's kind

of cool-looking - ah I like him for his

size he's got really good uh playability

sighs we're going to set them up they're

coming out of the gate and then we have

a cool drastic park Triceratops

this one's action feature if you pull

back on the tail it lifts its head and

now this one doesn't open its mouth so

this one's really cool to bigger legs in

the back smaller in the front really

good detail on this one you can see it

says JP 44 over there so we're going to

set him up over here and our carnivores

have agreed not to eat the herbivores

today and then we have oak a pursuit

guessed by Safari limited this guy's

like a almost like a mix of like an

alligator and dinosaur really big wicked

looking teeth oh this guy is more for

display purposes I mean nothing on him

boobs but his detail they gave them

across so uh centi is almost like part

alligator we're going to set them in the

water there and then we have water one

of the velociraptors that everybody

hates

this is Velociraptor blue but this is

the one they did not put the third claw

I mean that is such a huge mistake they

made up its arms move its legs a little

bit the mouth does not so I'm not happy

with this one so this one I'm going to

go ahead and hike here by the rock and

then we have a post to Circus by Safari

limited this one if you ever played on

Jurassic world the game the half game by

ludia this is one of the dinos in there

and the capper suitcase and pretty much

every Dino I have here but ah this line

came directly from there so we're gonna

this guy also looks similar to the Capra

super

like an alligator nominal type body so

we're going to go ahead and set him up

in the water over here because he does

look like a water creature and then we

have a big animal planet Dino this isn't

a last Mussoorie

it's got an action button here if you

push it guy like Bob's his head down

he's got like a long serpentine neck

with huge teeth so this guy 'not Lee was

carnivore he is really cool nice big

body so I really like this one I did

some cool battle sequences with this guy

if you want to check out my animal

planet playlist so I'm going to go ahead

and set this guy up here right on the

gate in the back there looks like he's

swimming right over the gate and then

next we have us like Stegosaurus so this

guy's quois got the big plates on his

back he's got the spikes on his tail so

you don't want this guy hitting you with

these spikes we are in big trouble so

we're going to go ahead and set this guy

up right over there and he is an

herbivore so he does not eat and then

next I got a Dino super charge megazord

so these are the odd

Dino Dino super charge Power Ranger ones

on this one transformed into a Megazord

you lift the head up there you lift its

body here its legs pop forward and you

actually go ahead and transform him into

a Megazord

from a t-rex so that's the reason I

included him in this set is because he

has a t-rex so I'm going to go ahead and

set him by the t-rex

masta lipslide and then i have a drastic

park paris f la Souris this guy's got a

cool action feature you push his head

down and locks on there then you push

the button here BAM its head pops

forward the paris f la Souris was the

one that had like the huge bony skull so

for another Dino like bit down on its

skull it would probably end up breaking

his teeth rather than killing the guy

he's got a wound piece that pops up here

and he is JP 23 so this guy is really

cool Wow we're gonna set him I think

we'll set him up here in the back next

to the t-rex all the way back and then

we have a green tiny little Jurassic

world t-rex what he is all green he's

got the JW logo the wounds on the side

there so I'm going to go ahead and set

him up here with the indominus because

they're about the same size and they can

have good battle then next I have all

Paris of asuras so this guy's action

features he's got a button back here we

push it and he moves his legs like he's

running got this big like

sure what they would call this looks

like part of this goal that digs out in

the back here his arms do move he does

say JP 19 here and this guy is a

herbivore

I'm gonna set him up right here

go walk right over and then the next guy

is not a Dino but he is in the Jurassic

Park Dino line so I'm gonna go ahead and

put him there

this guy's like like say now I believe

are you pronouncing by Jay King 12 he

does look almost like a saber-toothed

tiger oh wow

his head will flip all top part of his

head will flip around into a circle and

he could open his mouth way up so this

guy kind of freaky looking so we're

going to go ahead and set him up right

there and then did it made it sure so

this is an animal planet shark you go

ahead and pull down its fin it opens and

closes his wealth so wow we are really

running out of room here I'm gonna have

to set him up

set a muffin top here it's gonna look

like this

flying's going to be right there on top

of the other interesting perky and then

last but not least is the drastic world

hybrid indominus rex i call this guy mr.

vampire check him out we pull his mouth

down he's got these fangs here that pop

up and he looks just like a vampire and

he opens his mouth all the way up

this guy's got a wind-up action feature

to wind up his arm he opened and closed

into the mouth and chomping motion so

that is cool I like this one yeah I like

the original one more but this one's

alright - and then also if you push down

here his spikes pop out on his back into

okay let's go ahead and set him up

somewhere okay so let's go ahead and

check out the mess we have created Wow

this park is populated mostly dinos some

crazy-looking creatures awesome so you

got the indominus t-rex got another big

t-rex there another huge indominus shark

elasmosaurus

wow this park is that guy so these are

all the dinos we took out of the box and

identified and they are really cool if
