As Thursday turned into Friday, Katy Perry surprised-released the third single from her

upcoming album Witness.

The song, "Swish Swish," featured a contribution from Nicki Minaj.

Almost immediately after the song was released, people started noticing that the track, though

it mentioned no names, seemed to be throwing shots at Katy and Nicki's two main pop culture

antagonists—Taylor Swift and Remy Ma, respectively.

Katy and Taylor have been on bad terms for a while now, reportedly dating back to a time

in 2014 when three of Swift's dancers left her tour to go work with Perry.

Swift's song "Bad Blood" is widely thought to be about Perry, though Taylor has never

confirmed it.

And Katy's new tune has some lines about karma and getting even that many were reading as

being directly aimed at Swift.

There is little doubt that Nicki's section is the latest

contribution to her ongoing war of words with Remy Ma, as you can hear in this excerpt.

Their troubled relationship goes back about a decade, but exploded this past February

when Remy released "ShETHER," followed by the less-well-regarded "Another One."

Nicki fired back with "No Frauds" in March, and things have remained comparatively quiet

until this week.

Further confirming fan theories about who the song is aimed at, Swift's bestie, actress

Ruby Rose, took to Twitter to slam Perry and the song.

Rose mocked Perry's self-professed aim of writing, quote, "purposeful pop" by calling

the singer's music "purposeful poop," and brought attention to the commercial failure

of Perry's song "Bon Appetit" by referring to it as "bomb a petit."

In addition, she accused Perry of ripping off "Swish Swish"'s music from the producer

Funkagenda AND worked in a Mean Girls reference, all in the same tweet.

Rose also brought up Katy Perry's near-constant campaigning for Hillary Clinton during the

2016 campaign by saying, "I just think with everything going on in the world to go from

rebranding as political activist only to ditch it and go low.. is.. a bummer."

"I've always stood up for the people I love and against things I think are cheap or mean

spirited," she concluded.

"You have to follow your heart."

As of yet, neither Katy nor Nicki have confirmed who "Swish Swish" is about.
