3 Awesome Ways from Music Theory to Music - Jazz Guitar Lesson - Duration: 7:11.

(guitar playing)

- Hi everybody. My name is Jens Larsen.

In this video, I'm gonna show you three ways

that you can take some really simple music theory

and turn that directly into guitar licks.

So, if you know what a major scale is,

what a pentatonic scale is,

and how to find the third of a chord,

then you can use all three of the ideas

that I'm gonna go over in this video.

The first idea is to use

the arpeggio from the third of the chord.

So, I'm gonna do all my examples in the key of C major

and I'm gonna use two different chords to demonstrate them.

So, I'm gonna use the D minor seven chord

and the C major seven chord.

If we take a D minor seven, you probably know already that

if you're playing over a D minor seven chord,

you can use a D minor seven arpeggio.

So it'll be this arpeggio:

And you can also look at the third from this arpeggio,

so that's an F

and then take the arpeggio that's following that.

And in this case that's an F major seven.

If you compare those two arpeggios,

then you'll see that the D minor seven is D F A C

and the F major seven is F A C E.

So they're actually the same notes except for one thing.

In the first one, we have the root, the D.

And in the second one, we don't have a root

but we have the ninth, which is an E.

So we're pretty much playing the same notes.

We just added an extension.

So that's a nice way to get some more colors

into our lines

and a line with that might sound like this:

In this line, I'm starting with the F major seven arpeggio.

And then I'm running down

And then up again in the D minor scale,

something that we'll get to in a bit

and from there, I then repeat the F major seven arpeggio.

And then ending on the nine to really emphasize that.

If we do the same with the C major seven chord,

then we get from the C major seven arpeggio

and then the third, which is an E.

And then we have an E minor seven arpeggio.

So again, the C major seven arpeggio is C E G and B

and the E minor seven is E G B and D.

So we're playing the same notes except we have a nine,

instead of the root.

A line with this could sound something like this:

So in this line, I'm mixing up a lot of things.

The first part of the line is

actually straight out of the A minor pentatonic scale,

which of course works really well

and it's all the C major pentatonic scale,

so it works well on a C major seven.

And the second part is, first the C major seven arpeggio

and then an E minor seven arpeggio.

And then really bringing out the nine at the end again.

Whenever you learn something new,

it's really important that you also try to incorporate it

so that you can use it together

with all the other things you already know.

So it shouldn't be so that if you learn something new,

then it's isolated and you can only use that.

You really wanna mix it with all the other things

that you use when playing over a chord.

And that goes for this, as well.

So you wanna use both the C major seven

and the E minor seven arpeggio.

The second idea is that

whenever we have a minor seven arpeggio,

we can also use the minor pentatonic scale.

So if we look at a D minor seven arpeggio, D F A C,

and D minor pentatonic, that's D F G A C,

so they're the same notes except

in the pentatonic scale we also have a G.

But that sounds just fine on a D minor chord,

so like this.

A line using the minor pentatonic scale

could sound something like this:

You wanna mix everything up that you know.

So, I'm just starting with the F major seven arpeggio

because now we have that in our vocabulary.

Then I'm descending down the minor pentatonic scale,

skipping down.

And then I'm doing this exercise in playing,

it's kinda like playing the minor pentatonic scale in

diatonic triads because we get, first,

the stack of fourths from D

and then the F major triad,

ending on the root.

So let's try and use the same approach on the C major seven.

So the C major seven arpeggio is, of course,

not a minor seven arpreggio.

But the arpeggio from the third E,

which is an E minor seven arpeggio is:

And that means that we can actually use

the E minor pentatonic scale.

That would be this one:

A line using the E minor pentatonic scale

over a C major chord

could sound something like this:

I'm just starting first again, with

a line coming straight of the E minor seven arpeggio

and then we get this line on the E minor pentatonic.

So using this, sort of stack of 4ths

and ending on the nine of the C major.

The third idea is to use leading notes.

So, we already have the D minor seven arpeggio.

And before each of the notes,

we can actually add a leading note a half step below.

So that would be this:

This is not the kinda thing where you wanna

add all of them all the time

but you want to use them a little bit more sparingly.

So, use, put a leading note

in front of one of the arpeggio notes once in a while.

That could sound like this:

I'm starting on the third,

then I'm adding a leading note onto the root.

And then just up the pentatonic scale,

down the arpeggio, then another leading note,

this time for the seventh.

And then, using the arpeggio from the third,

so that's an F major seven arpeggio.

And then down to the root and then ending on the fifth.

If we do the same for the C major seven,

so we have the C major seven arpeggio here.

And then adding leading notes would give us:

And a line with that could be something like this:

I'm using lead note for the third

and then I'm just running up the minor seven arpeggio.

So the E minor seven

then another pentatonic fragment,

leading note for the seventh,

then down the major seven arpeggio,

and then ending on the ninth.

As you can tell,

I'm really mixing and using all the three ideas

in the examples for this video.

I think you really wanna work on that.

You wanna incorporate everything new you learn

and use it alongside all

the other things that you already know.

So that it really becomes a part of your playing.

If you wanna check out more stuff on jazz guitar,

learning some new arpeggios,

how to use pentatonic scales over extended chords,

Los 40'S son los nuevos 20'S 👵👨 | Caso Cerrado | Telemundo - Duration: 16:39.

American writer and professor Sam Keen once said,

Let's begin with this case by Argentine poet Antonio Porchia.

"I know that a lie is deception and the truth is not,

but I've been fooled by both."

Bring out the litigants.

I won't let anyone make a fool of me.

They say love is blind, but I'm not.

All I can do to prove my love is be by her side,

not beneath her.

I'm a man, not a puppet.

-Hello and welcome. -Hello.

Michelle, you're suing Alex.

He's your husband, right?

Unfortunately.

Tell my why you're suing him and what you're demanding.

I want to annul our marriage.

Really?

He tricked me.

-Excuse me. -Let's see.

He said he loved me, but it was a lie.

His father and him were only after their papers.

-Their papers? -Yes, ma'am.

-You know that's not true. -Shut up.

-Let's see here. -I feel like I've been had.

This is your marriage certificate from New York.

You're newlyweds.

Right.

I met him in Santo Domingo.

I went with a friend to deliver a package from his father.

I fell in love immediately.

It was instant.

He treated me the way no one ever had before.

Thoughtful, caring.

I quickly fell in love and brought him here

with a visa for fiancés.

We were married shortly after.

The second he got his work permit,

he thought he was legal.

That's not true.

He got here and wanted to find his father

who had abandoned him when he was three years old.

He hadn't seen him since.

He got here and wanted to find him.

The father magically appeared from one second to the next.

And do you know who his father turned out to be?

One of my ex boyfriends.

Actually, not even. We dated for a very short time.

We only went out two or three times.

I didn't even know his name. I called him by his nickname.

I'm just telling you. I'm a party girl.

-That's fine. -That's how I am.

I left his father because he wanted something more serious.

He wanted to turn me into someone I wasn't.

I didn't want a stable relationship.

I wanted to party, have fun, and enjoy life,

but then I fell for this idiot,

excuse my language, and I fell off the radar.

-It was all a set up. -That's not true.

It was all a trick. Everything changed.

Is there an age difference here?

Yes, of course.

I'm 40 and he's 25.

-That's not bad. -I like younger guys.

-That's not so much. -I like younger guys.

-I'm very energetic. -Good.

I don't like old guys.

That's fine.

How unfortunate.

What happened? Why annul the marriage?

Because he suddenly changed.

He used to bring me breakfast in bed...

-That's not true. -Shut up!

Don't treat him like he's your son.

He deserves it. I was never like this.

Why?

He swore he loved me and he lied.

He wouldn't even make love to me.

He didn't even want to see me.

Ma'am, I brought him here and I got him a job

at one of my friend's nightclubs,

but he just wanted to be feeling up the waitresses

and getting drunk.

He wouldn't work.

The owners told me so. Give me a break.

So they fired him?

Yes, because of a problem him and me had.

I would always go to that club.

I got there and the first thing I saw

was him slapping one of the waitresses' behinds.

I was shocked.

What was his problem? He'd changed so much.

I got there and made a big scene.

Yes, I did.

I grabbed her and slapped her. Then I pounced on him.

What would you do if you got to a club

and found your husband slapping butts?

How sweet of him!

After all the money I spent to bring you here!

Sorry, ma'am.

I can't stand him.

You hate him.

Yes, ma'am, because he lied to me.

Are you sure...

Yes, do you know why?

He came here and started looking for his father,

whom I never told him I had a relationship with

because I was embarrassed.

When he found him and brought him to the house

to stay for three days things became unbearable.

They would go party and not come home.

He never did that before.

He already had his work permit.

That's when him and his father

started making my life unbearable.

He should've talked to me, cleared things up

instead of changing so much.

To me, he changed... Sure, sweetheart. Whatever.

Okay, got it.

Well, Alex, how do you respond?

I love my wife.

-Oh sure. -You know I love you.

I love you.

When I came to this country, she got me a job.

She works at clubs and has friends.

Everyone who works there is young.

I need to be social with all the employees.

I've always been a hardworking mamaking love to her.er. I p

She pushed me to the edge and became my shadow.

I never thought Michelle would be that way.

I was unemployed so I called my father.

He also works at nightclubs so I asked him

if he could find me a job wherever he was

or anywhere else.

I was there and she can't stand the sight

of me talking to a friend because she'll say

that friend is trying to hook me up with a friend.

So I said, "Michelle, are you blind?

Your jealousy is driving you crazy."

That happened when he stopped being with me.

-I was never like that. -I do want her.

-She's just unbearable. -You changed and so did I!

Put yourself in my shoes.

-Put yourself in mine! -He changed and so did I.

She insults me, but I still want to be with her.

I'm not with her for papers. I'm with her because I love her.

I want to be with her.

Bring out the defendant's witness please.

Would you look at that little gem?

Ask him what his nickname is.

That should give you an idea.

-He's Alex's father. -Yes.

Ask him what his nickname is.

Hi, what's your name?

Hello, ma'am, my name is Edwin.

What about your nickname?

I'm Alex's dad.

What's your nickname?

The call me the bad guy.

How nice! Now you know.

It's a stage name.

Right, your artistic name.

What a temper!

Right, your artistic name. What have you come to say?

Michelle's right.

I haven't seen my son in over 20 years.

That wasn't my fault, though.

I found out through a friend of mine where he was living.

A mutual friend,

who was who this woman went to Santo Domingo with...

I asked her as a favor to take him a package

and a letter that included his address in Santo Domingo,

so she could give it to Alex.

Okay.

When she gave it to him, they met.

I had nothing to do with that.

She says we set her up, but that's not true.

She thinks we're working together

to get him his papers, but that's not true.

We have a witness who wants to participate.

They're not here on anyone's behalf,

but they'd like to add to this case.

Let's bring out the witness

as well as Lizette Sierra and Antonia Lopez.

You?

You're always meddling.

You're Jennifer, right?

Yes.

You're her friend.

His friend. She's not my friend.

You went to Santo Domingo with her, though.

I thought she was my friend, but she knew everything.

They're party friends!

We used to be!

-Just a moment. Let me hear her. -Be quiet, woman!

Yes, ma'am.

What a temper. I love you anyway.

Be firm with her.

You need to be a little firm with her.

What have you come to say?

Hello, ma'am. My name is Jeniffer.

I came on my own accord because I was the friend

who gave the package to Alex.

What happened between them...

I never introduced them to each other.

It was spontaneous.

It was love at first sight. That was never my intention.

I was just doing my friend here a favor.

Why didn't you tell me he was your friend?

Honestly... I'd like to apologize to her.

-Save it! -For what?

Not telling her anything. We were really close friends.

So...

Nothing bad happened, though.

-Is that so? -Nothing bad happened.

Okay.

Mrs. Sierra, quickly.

It's very difficult to prove the type of fraud she's mentioned.

Yes, she's speculating.

She's assuming it's fraud.

The issue is whether or not

she wants to continue with the immigration case.

It doesn't matter if the marriage is annulled or not.

If she drops the case,

he won't get citizenship and he'll be sent back.

He's can't gain citizenship through any other marriage

or a child who's a citizen.

He'd have to gain citizenship through this marriage.

I see this type of case everyday.

They fight, there's jealousy.

One calls immigration and claims marriage fraud

or they file for divorce and then they regret it.

Then immigration isn't going to look favorably

on the case when it's really presented.

Even though I can obviously tell there's a spark here.

Okay, great.

Is there anything problematic about this relationship?

Do you think there are insecurities?

Yes, I see a lot of insecurity on her behalf.

I also see that there's an age difference

that intensifies that insecurity.

It's a 15-year difference.

We see this a lot.

Mature women have relationships with young men

and they feel like they might be left

for a younger woman who can satisfy the man more.

I'd like to tell her today that she's at exactly

the right moment in her life to be with a man like him.

And have a good relationship.

I'll find someone younger.

I love her.

Both of you, come here.

I know you can do anything.

You're a grown, independent woman.

You don't have a problem.

You like this kid, though.

-Liked. -You still like him.

If you didn't, you wouldn't fight with him so much.

I feel betrayed.

There's no betrayal.

-Yes, there is. -No, there isn't.

It hasn't happened and you can't prove it.

I couldn't...

There's no evidence whatsoever of what you're claiming.

Plus, I see a man who despite your insults

and temper tantrums still loves you.

-No, he doesn't. -I love her.

-I want to be with her. -He loves the life I give him.

-She's just jealous. -Give him a tongue kiss.

Never. Gross!

If he couldn't be with me after he got his work permit,

I don't want it now.

Give her a tongue kiss.

I would love to. I love my wife.

He'd better not or I'll go to jail.

-Please. -No, ma'am.

Listen to me.

It's a judicial test.

Then send me to jail. He's gross.

He grosses me out.

-That's not true. -He's so gross.

You like him.

She acts tough, but she's crazy about me.

Close your eyes.

You're forcing me into a marriage I don't want.

I want him to give you a tongue kiss.

I'm going to die.

Just one little kiss.

My goodness.

-Just for you. -Do it for me.

She loves her husband.

There was no tongue.

What?

If he didn't give me tongue, I'm not giving him any either.

-I want to do everything. -Do it for me.

Just one for me. Slowly.

Go slow.

I want to see what kind of chemistry there is.

I'll do it, but I'm going to vomit after.

Go ahead.

How was it?

Amazing! I missed those.

You don't regret what you did.

You've been through a lot to end up getting married.

If you finally took the plunge, it was for a reason.

It was in your instincts to allow this to happen.

You're too old to be dumb.

You have a lot experience.

You didn't get set up.

Let yourself fall for real

and give this relationship a chance

before you do something crazy you'll later regret.

I deny your claim and order you to get back together.

That's my ruling. It's final. Case closed.

Be kind, be careful, educate yourselves,

give respect to get respect, and may God help us!

See you next time. Thanks for joining me.

Cruz water motorbike we

Wow guys super excited today I got

another also mega constructs Despicable

Me 3 minions set this is grooves water

bike it includes

GRU and Bob wow this looks totally

awesome 186 pieces let's check out the

back hahaha

so cool so the bike actually fires and

here's some of the other minions that

I've been trying to find that prison one

I got that water one there I don't have

that but I do have this one I did a

Drew's bike with a stop-motion speed

build

so uh go ahead and check out my minions

playlist at the end of this video okay

so let's see what was in this package

sweetie

okay first of all you've got grew and

the minion guys I'm not exactly sure I

thought this was Bob aw aw

I believe this makes this video does use

other minions I think he uses Tim and a

few other ones so hah possible that is

okay so this has one two three four mega

construct bag set of instructions how to

put it together and here is a bunch of

the other set eventually I plan on doing

all of them so keep watching this

channel wow guys this is going to be

totally awesome let's go ahead and put

it together okay guys here is Cruz water

motorbike all put together this is from

the new Despicable Me 3 movie it's

actually not out yet so uh but make some

mistakes with the minion I apologize I

mean this does look like minion Bob but

ah this movie introduces several new

minion so it could be possible that it's

kim ordained so ah if you guys are

watching this after the movie came out

let me know which one it is then it also

comes with it also grew i mean you could

put this guy into all kinds of different

positions like dancing position

celebrating freeze ray yeah haha gotcha

so ah this ruins awesome and this is one

of the coolest stuff Mega Bloks figures

I've ever seen let's go ahead and take a

quick closer look at him so arms turn

all the way around the elbows Bend the

head turns all the way around the leg

move in all kinds of funny different

position and his waist will turn around

leave her there

degree he's got his normal scarf here

and then let's go ahead and take a look

at the bike because this bike is awesome

guys Wow

so odd got the big jet engines here that

you could put back so the flames are

flying in the back or have it goes

straight up or if you want to pretend

this thing could fly just put the jet

engines down and have it take off well

anyways it's cool it's got handles in

the front and the back so you could have

the minion hang on to the handle on the

back like you hanging on for his life as

drew as group flies through the street

let's take a look at this and Apple grew

on it so the front handlebars moved back

and forth on this tiny little rocky here

our pliers would be pushed down here

applier this little like knob thing out

you got like big oversize like exhaust

on this size big oversized tires in the

back you got a propeller here because uh

obviously this vehicle moves through the

water and then goes on the water

you got a platform here that goes up and

down so you could probably use this to

launch a minion with just launched a

minion over the handlebars throw minions

at the bad guy and then here is a good

Supreme Drops Fire Michael Jackson Collection - Duration: 1:19.

What's up, guys?

Justin here for Complex News.

About two weeks ago, rumors started swirling around about the possibility of a new Supreme

x Michael Jackson collection after Supreme shared an editorial photo by Hanna Moon on

Instagram.

At the time, Supreme stayed quiet with regards to the potential MJ collection.

But on Wednesday, they revealed that the rumored collection is no longer just a rumor.

Supreme announced that a special collection featuring iconic Michael Jackson images will

be released this week.

The collection will include a hooded sweatshirt, T-shirt, work shirt, and skateboard deck.

It will be available in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, and online on May 25.

The collection will also hit Japan on May 27.

Michael Jackson died nearly eight years ago, but he is still considered by many to be the

greatest entertainer of all time.

This Supreme collection will help celebrate that.

Supreme has stayed busy through the first few months of 2017.

Outside of preparing to launch this Michael Jackson collection, the brand also collaborated

with Comme des Garcons recently to release a custom Nike Air Force 1 Low.

Additionally, Supreme dropped the Supreme x Nike Air More Uptempos this spring and a

collection with Lacoste.

The long-awaited Supreme x Louis Vuitton collection is also expected to launch soon.

That's the news for now, but for all the latest news on Supreme, subscribe to Complex

News on YouTube.

My Neighbor, Charles | 이웃집 찰스 - Ep.113 [ENG/2017.05.26] - Duration: 47:35.

(The hot place for designs)

(Korea's landmark DDP)

(Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Jung-gu, Seoul)

(113th class at the foreigner school)

This is My Neighbor, Charles

where we meet foreigners living in Korea.

- Hello. / - Hello.

Today's guest is from Peru.

Oh, Peru!

I've got a nice feeling.

He says that he's closely related to subways.

I think I get it.

Does he memorize all the subway stations?

Isn't that the comedian, Kang Seongbeom?

Yes.

Shall we start?

He's getting our imagination all worked up.

Let's invite him quickly since we're very curious.

- Come on in. / - Come in!

- Welcome. / - Raphael.

Hello.

- Hello. / - Hello.

- Hello. / - Hi.

- Hello. / - So cute.

I'm Rafael. I'm from Peru.

And this is my wife. She's Korean.

Her name is Yeo Jongsuk. And next is

my son Yeo Minu.

I'm Yeo Minu and

I go to Samkwang Elementary School.

You said you're closely related to subways.

How many times do you take the subway?

I take the subway countless times.

So people call me, "The Subway Man."

Do you know all the subway stations?

Sadang, Chongsin Univ., Dongjak, Ichon,

Sinyongsan, Samgakji, Sookmyung Women's Univ.,

Seoul Station, Hoehyeon, Myeongdong,

Chungmuro, Dongdaemun...

He knows the order of the subway stations.

This must mean that he takes the subway

numerous times a day.

Please reveal yourself.

I'm a musician.

- Musician. / - Musician.

I do Andean music.

- It's my favorite. / - I knew it.

(It's a familiar melody)

It gives you that nostalgic feeling

like "Arirang."

Right?

How long have you lived in Korea?

I first came to Korea in 1997.

That's very long time ago.

He's leaving by himself.

- He's so energetic. / - He's very energetic.

So we sent him outside to play.

I'm curious as to how the two of you met?

We first met in 2003.

I was having a performance

with my teammates at Konkuk Univ.

And then in the audience, I saw a lady clapping.

Everything just stopped.

He was a great singer unlike his looks.

I fell in love with the music

after I heard it live.

- You were his fan? / - I was a fan of the music.

A fan of his music.

And Rafael thought she came all the way

because she liked him.

She gave me a flower.

Oh, my god!

That was the problem.

I didn't prepare that flower.

An old lady gave me that flower

to give it to him.

My husband was close to me

so I just passed it on to him.

He thought I gave the flower.

- He was mistaken. / - Did he just find this out?

I'm so curious now.

Rafael earned both love and work in the subway.

I'm curious about his daily life.

Let's watch it.

(My Neighbor, Charles)

(The Subway Man Rafael)

(Last March)

What is Rafael doing and where is he?

(Yeo Minu, son)

The Subway Man is with his son Minu.

Where are they going with this big load?

I'm not sure if Minu knows

but he's fascinated by the subway.

I'm scared.

Are you scared?

It's okay. I'm next to you so it's fine.

Rafael is an South American musician

who sings and play instruments

on many stages.

(Subway Arts Stage)

His main stage is the subway station.

(This is Rafael's stage)

Minu is his first audience.

He has his own seat.

It's comfortable.

The big load was all instruments.

(South American instrument, antara)

There's something he must do before performing.

Aren't they red beans?

Red beans or beans are used to

tune the instrument to get the right pitch.

When it's hot, the pitch becomes a lot higher.

So it's hard to get the right pitch.

(Finally, the performance starts)

(Pre-performance before the actual show in April)

(Exciting)

(Have to get this on camera!)

Andean music is Rafael's specialty

Rafael sang at subway stations for 15 years.

(Yeo Jongsuk, wife)

His music stops busy people.

(An artist and the head of a family of three)

However, it was easy to get where he is now.

He has to compete with other teams

and pass the audition to be able to perform here.

He made the audition thanks to his experience.

He's been working as a subway station artist

since April.

It's not a fancy stage

but he got fans who recognize Rafael's passion

and thanks to their support, he has released an album.

I'm a musician.

I've always been doing things related with music

and it's still the same.

Wherever it is, I want to go and perform

if they call for me.

(A homemaker)

When there's no performance,

Rafael becomes a homemaker.

Let's see his skills.

It looks like he's done this many times.

There's a tip!

The end!

(Dirty water goes into the toilet)

What secret is hidden in the kitchen?

It's really hard if there's no music.

That's right. If you just enjoy what you are doing

you can do the hard work with ease.

(Last step is hanging laundry)

His last task is hanging laundry.

There's an item you need.

I know this!

Rafael seems to be skilled with chores.

My wife is tired from working.

So I'm going to help my wife

as much as I can.

When there's no performance,

Rafael gladly takes care of the chores.

You are a great homemaker, Rafael.

I thought he was going to rest

but he's going somewhere.

Oh, he came the market.

(No. 1 on his grocery list is tomatoes)

He says he must by tomatoes today.

(Comparing prices)

- How much is it? / - $10.

Give me a box.

- $10? / - Yes.

The smaller one is $7.90.

Here you go.

How much are the strawberries?

$5 for two packs.

$5 for two packs.

Are you having a feast today?

Why are you buying so much fruit?

My wife and son loves fruits.

He must be happy.

- Thank you. / - Thank you.

- Thank you. / - Good-bye.

I'm so happy.

(Heavy with fruits)

(Rafael's house, Yongsan, Seoul)

He bought a lot.

He should organize them now.

I'm so happy. I'm happy when there are lots of fruits.

You had grapes at home too.

I think you can open up a fruit store.

(That night)

Jongsuk has come home from work.

- Jongsuk. / - Yes?

I bought it today.

- You bought what? / - Tomatoes.

A box.

How are you going to eat all of this?

Even a bag, you always throw it away rotten.

It's okay because it was cheap.

That doesn't mean you should buy what's unnecessary.

We don't even eat tomatoes that much.

Is this all you bought today?

And then...

How are we going to finish all these?

Look at this. I bought tomatoes yesterday

to make salad, honey.

You bought all of them in boxes today?

Please think before you buy.

We don't want to mooch off Minu

when we get old.

- Please save. / - Okay.

What are relief.

Rafael is in charge of the dinner as well.

What's today's menu?

Today, I'm going to make lomo saltado with chicken.

It's going to be my own recipe without potatoes.

My wife doesn't like potatoes.

(He needs when he cooks as well)

(Perfect couple)

Lomo saltado is a stir-fry dish

that has meat and various vegetables.

Tomato is a must in this dish.

Rice cooked nicely.

You put it over the rice to enjoy it.

It looks so good.

There's also salmon salad.

Rafael's dinner table is complete.

Let's eat.

Minu must've been hungry.

Minu, which one is more delicious?

Peruvian food or Korean food?

Korean food.

Doesn't Peruvian food taste good?

I like salmon the most.

Oh, you like salmon the best?

Let's move to Norway.

Do you know where my hometown is?

- Peru. / - Where in Peru?

Mexico?

Argentina?

Geez...

Did you forget? Did you live that long?

Dad is from Arequipa.

Minu, please remember that!

(Rafael is in danger)

(Shaking)

(Starting the day with music)

Rafael, what are you doing since the morning?

Oh, he's practicing singing.

Why don't you sing it to us?

(Unfamiliar South American music)

(Expressing the lyrics with his face)

I don't understand the lyrics

but I think I can understand through his face.

Do you always practice at home like this?

I have to practice for 2 hours.

It's tough but I must do it.

After the practice,

Rafael begins to take out his instruments.

My love.

These are all South American instruments.

This instrument is called roronco.

A Bolivian person made it.

This is...

Chajchas.

It's made with dried llama hooves.

The sound of water.

This is a rainstick.

Rafael plays many instruments when he performs.

Since he does everything by himself,

he can't help but get tired physically.

Rafael came to Korea in 1997

as a member of a Peruvian performance team.

However, that team didn't last long.

Some stayed in Korea and

some went back to Peru.

I stayed in Korea

because I met my wife.

Musician Rafael's new life began

with his love.

(Music is playing at Deoksugung-gil)

Today, Rafael has a performance outside.

(Excited)

There are special audiences today.

They are Rafael's fans.

(Rafael's fanclub)

I've been his fan for about 10 years.

He used to have a very busy schedule.

But he doesn't have many shows now.

Places he can perform are decreasing

but he could sing for a long time

thanks to the love of his fans.

I'm worried.

Of course nobody can work for their lifetime

and sometimes things might not work out.

But I don't have as many shows as I used to have.

That's why I started working again.

It's unstable. The anxiety from this

has become a part of our lives.

(Late bloomer dad)

Rafael, where are you going?

My son must be waiting for me.

Rafael came to his son's school

right on time.

Minu entered elementary school this year.

For him, it's more fun to play with friends than his dad.

But Rafael wants to play with his son.

(Running)

Minu is overflowing of energy.

Where are you?

Rafael, who is almost 50 years old,

is busy chasing after his son.

(Where's Minu)

(I'm here)

Where are you?

Goodness. Rafael, are you alright?

It's tired but I must do it.

I was strong in the past

but not anymore.

I'm an old man.

But I will still do it.

Okay!

Let's go!

(Rafael's house, Yongsan, Seoul)

Should I help with your homework?

You have to read this.

Compety?

- Completely. / - Completely.

I'm going to do it by myself.

Go away.

I still can't speak Korean.

It's tough.

So I can't teach him.

- Rafael couldn't take it anymore. / - Minu!

What do you call this on the ceiling?

Fluorescent lamp.

Can you write that in Korean?

(Confident thanks to his son's help)

It's open.

I hope he gets the right one.

Hello, it's been a long time.

This one...

What's this? What?

- Is that right? / - You wrote it wrong.

It's fluorescent lamp.

Minu helped him a few minutes ago.

- Fluorescent lamp. / - Fluorescent lamp.

Oh, he wrote it wrong.

Like this.

This is how you write it.

Okay, thank you.

Thank you, ma'am.

- Which one? / - Should I get this one?

- This one? It's $2. / - $2.

- Two, please. / - Two.

- Good-bye. / - Good-bye.

Minu, hold on a second.

Let me turn off the light.

(He's very skilled at changing the lamp)

Rafael changes the lamp of his son's room.

Will the light come on?

Yes, yes!

Rafael could save face this time.

(Rafael feels at ease)

The room is bright now.

(Preparing for old age)

Are you going on a date?

Daerim Station.

I met her for the first time there.

I shouldn't have went there that day.

- Are you happy? / - What?

Do you know what "twisted' means?

That's the day my life got twisted.

Of course I remember.

One day in October, 2003.

Jongsuk fell in love with Rafael

who was singing "Besame Mucho."

Their encounter through music

continued to dating

and they married each other.

I had this spirit of a savior.

I wanted to help him.

I thought that I could help his life in Korea

since I'm quick and fast but

he's slow and relaxed.

I went to see his performance for 2, 3 months

and then we had meals together.

Naturally, we began dating

and got married the same year.

When there aren't many shows

Rafael works part-time at his wife's company.

- Hello. / - Hello.

Have some coffee first, Rafael.

Thank you. I was just thinking of that.

He says the coffee he drinks while working

tastes amazing.

(This is it)

Are you happy?

This is life.

A cup of coffee and music. Cue.

(A perfect combination)

He's perfectly prepared to work.

Now he just needs to do a good job.

(Pushing)

(His stage has gotten bigger)

Rafael, aren't you going to work?

Honey.

His job is to wrap promotional materials.

But he's very slow.

We have to do this quickly and send it to them.

I'm doing it quickly.

You will be fired.

You are working thanks to me.

You can't compare to anyone with that kind of skill.

You should work while dancing like this.

He says he needs to dance while working.

It's fun when he's working but

Rafael is very worried.

Actually, there's no work in winter.

There are no subway station performances.

Everything gets stopped.

I work part-time when there are no shows.

Usually I work when my wife company needs help.

Sir, Minu's dad is leaving.

Good-bye, sir.

- See you next time. / - Good job.

Thank you, sir.

Good-bye.

Good job, Rafael.

(The next day)

The next day, Rafael has come

to the Immigration Office.

(What is going on?)

What's the matter?

Is it something serious?

(Application For Naturalization)

He came to apply for naturalization.

To find more stable job,

he's preparing for naturalization.

I'm a musician.

And I plan to continue to live in Korea

so I want a stable job related to music.

I want to be a music teacher, in fact.

We want to apply for naturalization.

We've filled out the application form.

Show me the documents you prepared.

Show me your ID card.

Even I feel very nervous.

Don't you have more documents?

Nothing is easy in this world.

One's own country means Peru, right?

They are missing a birth certificate

and a criminal record from Peru.

We need a document to see if

he doesn't have any criminal record

in his home country.

Doesn't he seem like he doesn't even need laws?

We have to have all these papers

to apply for naturalization?

Thank you.

It's a shame

but they have to postpone the naturalization.

Rafael, there must be a way.

(Ringing)

Gloria, how have you been?

- This is Rafael. / - Hello.

How have you been.

What about you?

I was resting at home.

How's everything in Peru?

Everyone's doing good.

- Hello, how have you been? / - Brother!

How have you been?

I need to get some papers for naturalization.

In need a criminal record from Peru.

I will look into it so don't worry.

That's a relief. Thank you for your help.

No problem, brother. Good-bye.

When I hear their voices, I want to go back to Peru.

It's been 9 years.

it's been very long.

I miss them.

Rafael is the 6th child among 9 children.

He misses his home of a big family.

He especially misses his mom.

I got a call 2 years ago, that my mom passed away.

It was just nonsense.

I never imagined that. Life is like that.

She passed away but she's always in my heart.

Rafael, cheer up.

You mother will be in your heart forever.

(Let's go meet now)

(Rafael's family is busy)

Why are you so busy since the morning?

Where are you going?

(The trunk is filled with luggage)

Their car trunk is totally packed.

Are they going to Peru?

(They are going to Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do)

Rafael is headed to his parents-in-law's house.

Welcome, Rafael!

(Yeo Inbeom, father-in-law)

Mom!

- He got you a gift. / - What gift?

He worked at my company

and saved some money.

- Dad. / - Thank you. What is this?

- It's an audio. / - Audio.

- Thank you. / - Mom.

I love my mom.

I really love her.

Wow, I'm so happy.

If mom is happy...

Rafael is happy too?

(Testing the audio)

It sounds great.

(That's my son-in-law)

- It's good. / - No problem.

The father-in-law must love Rafael.

His gaze is full of love.

Your daughter's temper is...

(I understand you)

- What? / - No...

He didn't say anything.

Don't worry about it, okay?

(This time, it's the mother-in-law)

- Do you know what nagging means? / - Yes.

They are the same.

Dad, cheer up.

Let's cheer up.

Yes, let's do that.

Yes, dad.

This time, he needs to use his strength.

A mask and thick gloves are a must.

(Thick gloves are needed)

(Flapping)

(The chicken coop that the father-in-law is in charge of)

It's the chicken coop that must be cleaned

every 3 months.

He takes out the eggs first.

Thank you, old lady.

Thank you, thank you.

So pretty, thank you.

Hang in there!

Hang in there!

They begin cleaning up the chicken coop.

First, he needs to clean the soil

that's filled with chicken poop.

(This is easy)

Wow, Rafael. You are very strong.

(Throwing away the soil)

This looks easy for him.

(Repeated)

The problem starts now.

Dad, this is so tiring.

He gets tired as he repeats the process.

- Are you tired? / - Are you tired, dad?

No.

It's so tiring. How do you do this every day?

I don't do it every day.

He gets his last drops of strength

and flattens the ground with bran.

He's done cleaning!

Father-in-law, you must be happy.

Delicious food is here.

Everyone, come here and eat.

Hurry up.

(Thank you)

- Good job, Rafael. / - No, it's fine.

- I like it. / - You like it?

Later, when dad and mom

go to the heavens, Rafael...

You come here with your wife

and Minu and live here.

No, dad. You need to live a long time.

I don't have that much time left.

Dad, you are every strong.

I mean it. So you have to live a very long time.

I mean it.

That's right. Don't say that.

Meanwhile, the mother-in-law is preparing food

for Rafael.

Minu's dad worked hard today,

so I need to feed him some good stuff.

He only comes here once in a while.

He's kind and I just love him.

Also, his parents don't order my daughter around.

You're happy because I don't get pushed around.

That's what I really like about him.

The village is having a feast because of Rafael's visit.

From a brood hen full of love

to a beef dish and homemade acorn jelly.

What a feast.

Eat a lot.

Thank you.

Rafael, you must be happy.

So if Rafael becomes naturalized...

He can't change his name right?

How about Yeo Rafael?

Yeo Rafael sounds good.

Is it okay for you to have another son?

So I have another son?

That's going to mess up my family registry.

Yeo Rafael.

We can all do it!

(A concert held in a countryside village)

(The singer is the loving son-in-law, Rafael)

She can't just stand still in this kind of atmosphere.

(A neighbor)

This is the fun of having a singer in the family.

You can't enter the stage, ma'am.

Rafael is generous to his fans.

Turn around.

Yay!

Rafael's very first concert

held in his parents-in-law's place.

My dad turns 80 this year.

We will hold a proper performance then

but we will play dad's favorite song, "Senoya."

("Senoya")

The father-in-law accepted Rafael at first sight.

The mother-in-law was against him first.

It was the father-in-law who changed

the closed heart of the mother-in-law.

Encore! Encore!

(They appeared in "Screening Humanity" 12 years ago)

Their love is shown in this video.

12 years ago, the father-in-law carried around

big instruments to Rafael's stages

and was always by his side.

He was 68 years old at the time

and his age was just a number to him.

She was against a foreign son-in-law at first

but he's the best.

He's the most considerate

and makes you happy.

This is tears of joy.

When I followed Rafael around for shows

I was heartbroken.

Why?

Because it's tough.

There were so many equipment back then.

Big speakers and many other things...

Dad, can you still do it?

He can't.

- I can. / - You can't. You're too old.

No. You think you're still young.

You were in your sixties back then.

I think of those times often.

Even when I eat with my kids,

I put Rafael right next to him

and gave him the delicious stuff.

My sons and other sons-in-law were jealous.

So I told them to understand since

he's a foreigner and

there's nobody else to take care of him

if I don't.

I'm so thankful. Thank you all the time.

He's my son.

He's my son.

Thanks to the family's love

Rafael could endure the unfamiliar

and tough life in Korea.

I'm always thankful for my wife's family.

Especially my father-in-law, ever since he started

helping with my work I thought of him as my father.

He's my father, not father-in-law.

(Last challenge)

This is very important, honey.

Where does Dokdo belong to?

Rafael is busy studying for naturalization these days.

What goes into bean paste soup?

Bean paste soup...

- Bean paste. / - Yes.

Beef?

What? Beef?

You're really bad at the actual test. This is nuts.

- Bean paste soup... / - Potatoes!

Wait.

This is Rafael's writing test from his Korean class.

I don't get this.

How can you get Saturday wrong?

You look at the calendar every day.

If you were interested enough,

you would look at Monday to Sunday.

So you should know how to write them.

Is this how you write Saturday?

You shouldn't get this kind of thing wrong.

Geez...

I can't do this.

You are going to give up Korean?

- Again? / - It's too tough.

What's tough?

Let's do this later. I'm stressed.

When? I've waited 13 years.

After another 13 years? 10 years?

It's hard.

After you're 60?

Then why don't you go live in Peru?

Every day, I clean the house, wash the dishes

I don't have time to study.

Studying is so tough.

This is too difficult.

I don't like it.

It's not like I'm fooling around at home.

What are you going to do if you give up?

I'm going to do whatever I want.

Rafael talks about giving up so easily.

Angry Jongsuk takes something out.

Isn't that a passport?

(What's going on?)

Take your passport. Take everything. It's fine.

If you get older, you don't want to do it even more.

Your brain doesn't function as well.

I told you. If we just continue with shows,

it will be hard to raise Minu in Korea.

Okay, I'm sorry.

You have to try harder. Hang in there.

Which station?

I have a feeling that it's from Euljiro 1-ga.

How can you be so humble and modest?

You lived in Korea for a long time.

That's your charm.

That's why I married you.

Rafael is a husband of a woman

and a father of a child.

We will be cheering for you

to live as not a foreign husband or a foreign dad

but as a proud Korean.

(My Neighbor, Charles)

What shocked me was that you get

so much love from your parents-in-law.

This is a rare sight.

Right.

Do you know that you're being loved?

My father-in-law really loves me.

I'm very lucky.

They were very against the marriage at first.

Yes, my mom was against this marriage

but I didn't know.

I found out after I got married.

She called my older sister crying

and telling her that I'm crazy

and that she should stop me.

But when she actually met him,

she placed ribs on his plate and so on.

I understand.

But their daughter said she loved me

so I guess they didn't have a choice.

So I did my best to show my best side to them.

Being diligent and honest.

I'm still trying.

Do you show them your gratitude often, Rafael?

Yes, I say thank you all the time to my father-in-law.

"Good job. I love you."

Korean sons-in-law aren't like him.

Since you had your child a bit late.

I also saw that you're preparing for naturalization.

I wanted him to enter the National Pension Service

he can open up a music academy

and teach instruments.

People ask me a lot.

He can teach instruments in Spanish.

They ask to learn these instruments

A handshake to remember.

President Donald Trump met with France newly elected president Emmanuel Macron Thursday

in Brussels ahead of a NATO summit, and it was hard to miss the handshake between the

two world leaders ? white knuckles and all.

The two presidents, each wearing dark suits and blue ties (Trump s was thick and royal

blue; Macron was skinny and navy) sat in antique cream-upholstered arm chairs, with two American

and French flags behind them, the Washington Post White House reporter, Philip Rucker,

described in an email.

They shook hands for an extended period of time.

Each president gripped the other hand with considerable intensity, their knuckles turning

white and their jaws clenching and faces tightening.
