Youtube daily May 3 2017

So here I am inside a Google Form and

all I've done so far is add the title,

mass and weight and the first question,

What is the difference between mass and

weight? In this very short

screencast I just want to show you how

to limit the amount of text a user can

add to a particular question within a

form, because I've had a lot of people

tell me that people write either too

much or too little in a form question. So

here's how to do it. When you add a

question it usually defaults to

multiple-choice as you can see here and

the options we are going to choose are

under these three little dots. But if I

choose multiple choice the option I want

isn't available so I just want to show

you that. So first of all I've got to

make sure that I've either chosen a

short answer or a paragraph question so

I'll choose paragraph because that

suggests a slightly longer answer and

then this time if I go back to the three

dots I can choose data validation from

the list I'm going to leave length as it

is there and I'll have two choices.

I have minimum character count and

maximum character count. The minimum one

is really useful if you want to

encourage people to add slightly longer

answers so you can tell them that

they've got to write at least 200 or 250

characters. But on this occasion I'm

going to choose maximum because what I

want to do is prevent them from writing

answers that are too long.

So I've chosen maximum character count

then I have to choose how many

characters I want them to have as the

maximum so I'll just choose 500 for the

moment. Then it's useful to add a

little message in here because if

they're going over the 500 limit

the form won't submit so it's useful to tell them

why. So if I just add a short message in

here to say "you have exceeded the 500

character limit" and then that's

it for this question. I haven't got do

anything else,. I can continue adding

extra questions and I can do the same

for each question or I can add a maximum

character or minimum character to

different question

but that's how you prevent people

writing too much or too little in your

Google form questions. I do hope you

found it useful

HSBC Logo - Henry Steiner | Logo design & Designer review - Duration: 6:16.

Hello and welcome to this video

Gareth here from Tastytuts.com

In this video we're going to look at the HSBC logo

Learn a little about the logo and the designer behind it.

The HSBC logo was designed in 1983 by an Austrian graphic designer

called Henry Steiner born in 1934.

Henry Steiner was born in Vienna but left when he was 5

when the Nazis were taking over Austria.

He moved to America and had most of his schooling in New York.

Early in career Steiner worked as a freelancer for a New York magazine

and around the early 1960s he was given the opportunity

to go work in Hong Kong for nine months to work on an Asian magazine.

Steiner would stay in Hong Kong permanently and it is

where he lives today.

Henry Steiner has been dubbed the father of Hong Kong design.

In 1964 he founded his own consultancy firm Steiner & Co.

The company scope would include:

corporate identity, corporate literature, architectural graphics, books and magazine design.

and bank notes.

Henry Stiener has created designs for some of the most identifiable brands

such as IBM, Hilton Hotels, Dow Jones, HSBC, Standard chartered

and Unilever to name a few.

Some of Harry Steiner's poster examples include:

Hong Kong international music festival 1969.

Morisawa Font Poster in the middle of 1990s.

Sinn bildungen, 2XGOLDSTEIN, Germany, 2007

and Hong Kong Vienna Opera Ball, 2008

Henry Steiner is also known for creating some of Hong Kong's banknotes

which the government commissioned him to do in 1975.

In 2003 he would update the designs including:

Aquatic, Amphibious, Terrestrial and Celestial creatures.

Steiner pioneered the expression of identity through branding

particularly in Asia where his skill for incorporating Eastern cultural symbols

into Western design has gained international acclaim.

To quote Steiner:

Design must contain contrast. This can be contrast of colour

of expectation, psychological tensions, size, old vs new. etc.

Henry Steiner is well known for his poster and banknote designs

but it's best known for his corporate identity designs

notably his HSBC logo.

The design of the HSBC logo was inspired by the bank's house flag

that had been in use since at least 1800's

This being a white triangle with two pointed triangles in the shape of an hourglass.

Now would you believe me if I told you that the HSBC logo has its origin in a Scottish flag?

Well in the late 19th century many companies were established in Hong Kong

by Scottish expatriates.

HSBC was founded by Sir Thomas Sutherland a Scottish banker and politician.

HSBC opened for business on the 3rd March 1865.

Like many other companies flags of that era

the design was based on the Scottish flag, the cross of St. Andrew

For HSBC the flag would become white and red.

Henry Steiner would take inspiration from this flag and add additional triangles

suggesting connections and points on a compass

This mark fuels HSBC's dramatic expansion.

So the HSBC logo is essentially a lockup combination mark

What makes up the logo are two distinct parts

We have the prominent logo mark: The Red triangle shaped competition

and the logotype.

The font used is a simple serif font

which seems to be either Times New Roman or Basketball Old face

Set in black the colour evokes positive associations of power, sophistication and elegance.

When used formerly it can be seen with the logotype wordmark element

either to the left or underneath

When used in a confined or decorative space the logo mark is used alone.

So what I think about this logo?

Well I like how Steiner took inspiration from something that was part of his HSBC's history

dating back to the late 1800's

Taking the banks house flag and simply adding two additional triangles

creates not only a new distinctive shape

but creates point of a compass that can be easily interpreted positively

and outward looking. This is simple and memorable

So what we learned about this story?

Well in this example all it took was the addition of two extra triangles to make an iconic brand.

Henry Steiner simply built on top of an already established legacy

to create something fresh and new.

This shows that sometimes a great idea

can be imagined from part of a company

institution or projects history.

When creating a logo be sure to ask questions

about any stories leading up to the creation of the company institution or product.

Take note of anything interesting that may exist

a great idea to be waiting to be imagined.

【MUKBANG】 [High Calories] Hot And Runny! Kimchi + Rice Cake + Cheese Gratin! 4504kcal [CC Available] - Duration: 5:24.

Hello its Kinoshita Yuka (Eng subs by ~Aphexx~)

so, today! tadaa I made a mochi gratin using Kimchi/kimuchi/kimchee/gimchee/gimuchi and cheese

the color of the cheese is so wonderful and I love mochi so much I know I'll love this dish

alrighty lets see how its made

pre-heat the toaster to 250 degrees

cut our mochi into bite sized pieces

melt butter in a pan add flour

and cook on low

butter is so good

slowly add milk and mix till it thickens

make sure to be careful not to burn it

I never knew how easy it is to make white sauce

once its thickened flavor with salt and pepper

this little experiment making white sauce was so fun

in a heat proof plate add our mochi, kimchi/kimuchi corn and the white sauce we made

looks so delish

top with a desired amount of cheese

I'll add enough to barely overflow

I added a dangerous amount

bake for about 8 minutes in a toaster

once the time has elapsed poke the mochi with a skewer to see if its heated through

if the mochi isn't heated through please try microwaving it

the cheese has taken on such a yummy looking color

tadaa tis done looks soooo delish

you can see a piece of corn poking out

I managed to add enough cheese but not have it overflow

itadakimasu

わああー the white sauce looks so yummy

and there is mochi in it as well

~of course there's mochi in here I put it in myself ~

looks so delish the cheese and white sauce have melted nicely

and here's a piece of mochi with some corn you can see as well

alrighty I'll try a piece of mochi now

its nice and soft its a good thing I microwaved it

the white sauce is made with sooo much butter that it has such depth of flavor and the kimchi/kimchee

and white sauce come together so deliciously kimuchi and butter go together I guess

soo good

~bliss~

and since I'm chowing down on such junky food I'll be accompanying it with some coke

so good

I also made a nice salad

cheese is so ooey gooey

I love that mouthfeel of kimuchi

I really like that spicy hit it adds as well

if it was just white sauce it would be rich and sweet so one dimensional

~ whats the best way to eat this? ~

soo tough to eat this stuff ~oh this stringy piece was mochi~

mixing cheese and mochi makes for such clumsy eating

but its so yummy

most yummy things are usually a bit difficult to eat

so packed full of gimchee

its so thick and gooey

every once in a while you get a piece of corn I love how sweet the corn is

last mouthful itadakimasu

gochisosamadeshita I love the kimuchi and cheese dish

its filled with my fav's mochi and cheese there is no doubt it was going to taste good

I love the tasty crusty burnt cheese on top

and mixing white sauce with kimchee mellows out the spicy kimuchi nicely

with a nice mild sauce and the sauce is given a nice hit of spice from the kimchi

the mochi is so good and tasty its the 'bestest' stuff ever

it was so tasty and so easy to make won't you all give it a try?

and as always thanks for watching and if you liked this video please hit the like and subscribe buttons BAI BAI

TRAMANDO Tramandizate Event Buenos Aires | What's Haute - Duration: 4:24.

"Tramandizate" is an event we created

for out lab and showroom in the

neighborhood of Palermo in Buenos Aires.

This is a store/lab in which one can attend

the actual process of making clothes and fabrics.

"Tramandizate" is an event in which customers

come to the store and by buying a piece of clothing,

they get the chance to have their new garment

or an old piece they can bring along,

intervened by me in our lab.

I was lucky to get into fashion through a different door,

the door of creativity by the intervention

of fabrics, many times in finished garments,

so this gave me the possibility

of approaching design as a game.

Something that happens to many people today,

is that we are always looking to stand out,

to be different, not in a radical way but more

like giving our clothes a personal touch,

that's the essence of "Tramandizate".

Give a personal touch to your clothing,

and some how connect it a little more

to your own personal experience.

I brought a black skirt that

I hardly used because I didn't like it.

It had a buckle that I've torn away

right before Martin started stamping it.

And this is the result, original,

wonderful, with his personal seal.

I think this event is really fun,

it's interesting to have the chance

to talk with the man behind the brand

and you realize why the brand is what it is,

I came with a horrible,

old skirt and he transformed it into this.

There's no more to say, it's great!

I also design and make garments from scratch

but the intervention of finished garments and fabrics,

in this playful way,

combining textures, colors, metals,

is completely different because

the result is somehow unpredictable

and because its conception is different.

And this different conception gives you

an interesting relationship with your clothes.

When you are in front of a Martin Churba garment,

you fast realize it's been made by him,

we, women, have different ways of dressing up,

and he undestands that and

even though every model is different,

it goes well with dif-ferent kinds of women,

from a sixty year old woman

to a thirty year old like me,

and even younger.

Design somehow transforms.

Sometimes it doesn't matter which material

you have but what you can do with it,

this is design applied to recycling.

That, what happens on your garment,

you saw it happening, that moment it's somehow yours,

well, when this happens I think is really exciting!
