Hey everyone! ĐeäTh here. Today we want
to give you all a small status update
regarding the project's recent change in
leadership you may have seen announced on our
Twitter page as well as some incorrect
information given out there in the past
that we feel needs to be corrected. Don't worry,
we are not going to 'change our direction',
or anything like that! We just felt
we should make a video letting you
all know what's going on so we could
properly address any concerns. On April 17th
almost 3 weeks ago, Derek (the project's former leader)
and I (the former co-leader of the project)
has swapped roles due to the lack of
free time needed to properly lead the team.
Ever since then, I've been working
hard with the rest of the team to ensure
that the project comes along smoothly, and that the
overall direction of the project stays
the same as before. Nothing drastic have
come from this change yet
so we feel no real need to spend any more
time on this subject. We just felt
we should inform you all as to what's been
going on.
Rest assured, no changes will be made
that the team overall feels aren't for
better. With that out of the way
a lot has changed from what we have
publicly announcer on our Twitter page in the
past that's actually completely unrelated to
the leadership change! So we feel we need
to clear up these so we can avoid
any confusion or false expectation. Throughout
multiple Twitter leadership changes
one of which, at one point, even turned on us
and actively attacked the project's
Twitter page as well as our team members,
a lot has been said on our Twitter page,
and unfortunately, as unprofessional and...
honestly embarrassing as this is to
admit, the truth is a lot of it has either
changed since, or in some cases, was even
false from the very beginning, and
simply posted by someone who hadn't even
consulted the other team members first to
ensure that said information was correct! Ever
since we've taken a more serious and more
professional approach to the project around
mid-January, we've ensured that the only ones
able to tweet to our page are those who know
for sure what's going on with the
project, and as such,
this problem has since been resolved and
will not plague the project in the future.
Same thing applies for our YouTube
channel as well. That said, a lot of this
false information still remains which
posted prior to this change, so without
further ado, let's correct some of this.
First off, a few of our voice actors have
changed since our tweets announcing their
inclusion in the project for various
reasons that are outside the scope of this
video. A complete list of the team members we'll be updating to ensure it's always
up-to-date is available in our Twitter BIO,
or in the description down below, so you
can see for yourself which positions
have been changed.
Next up, we have kind of a big one. Our
plans for re-modeling the terrain from Sonic
Adventure have been scrapped due to the
amount of development time it would
impose on the team, and the shocking
fact that in-game, our team has decided
the original terrain from Sonic
Adventure doesn't seem low-poly or
outdated in the slightest, which made the
whole thing feel rather unnecessary.
We may still make minor changes to object
layout data, or 'smooth' the level terrain if we feel
it's necessary in certain areas, and we still
plan on re-modeling objects and characters!
But we are no longer redoing terrain, or
adding alternate routes via changes to the
stage geometry, for the reasons I
previously stated. This was a decision
the team made before the leadership
change even occurred, and we hope it's
one that doesn't disappoint any of you.
Rest assured, the project, visually, will
still be a massive improvement from the
original game! Beyond this, our engine has
gone through numerous iterations from
when it was initially shown off back in
November, rendering some of the older
screenshots and the information that have
been shown on our Twitter page outdated.
We believe it's improved drastically! Though you
can judge that for yourselves from our
recent video showing off it's set editor
and real-time lightning. Last but no least,
the Sonic model we showed a WIP
preview of is being worked on to make it
more 'Adventure-styled' and as much may
look a little different when it's
completed. More on this once we feel it's
ready to be shown.
Alright - we have covered quite a bit
in this video, and I would like
apologize if any of this information
disappointed you. As leader of the project,
I can say first-hand, that we, as a team, are
committed to ensuring that the quality
of final product is the best we can make it.
Decisions like these are only made to further
guarantee that quality, and not attempt
to do something we're uncertain can
be done well. With all of that said, we
would like to thank all of you, yet again,
for your continued support! Because of
your loyalty and excitement towards this
project, we've recently hit 1000 followers
on our Twitter page, as well 500
subscribers on our YouTube channel! This
is a milestone we could have only
dreamed of when this project begun, and
the fact that you all have made it a
reality
is something we are extremely grateful for.
So yeah, that's all for now guys - though we've
got much more we plan on revealing once
we feel the time is right,
so please stay tuned for later updates
and see you guys next time.
