Hey everyone, for Complex News, I'm Justin Block.

Ever since Kevin Durant left the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors

last July, the NBA world has been wondering: How do Russell Westbrook and Durant really

feel about each other?

Reporters have asked each of them about their relationship all season long, and while Durant's

been coy, Westbrook's been more blunt: The pair haven't spoken since Durant signed

with the Warriors.

The NBA's great Cold War appears to be thawing though.

In March, Durant told Bill Simmons that he wanted to talk to Westbrook during All-Star

weekend in February, but it was just too awkward.

Simmons then suggested that Kendrick Perkins, a former teammate of Durant and Westbrook

from 2011 to 2015, needed to intervene to mediate their beef.

Durant was receptive to the idea, since Perkins, a stodgy veteran, was close with the pair

during his time in OKC.

Less than two months later, it seems like Perkins has made the difference in Durant

and Westbrook's feud.

He explained on TNT's "Area 21" that he wasn't buying into the pair's beef,

and thought it could be remedied: Perkins then got into a text conversation

he recently had with Durant.

Neither player has confirmed this yet, but Perkins says Durant revealed to him that he

spoke to Westbrook after Westbrook broke

the NBA's triple-double record.

Shocked?

Well, take a look for yourself: Not only that, but Perkins thinks Durant and

Westbrook could end up squashing the beef entirely and reuniting in OKC:

We admit, it seems preposterous that Durant could ever leave Golden State and go back

to Westbrook, who signed a contract extension with the Thunder in August.

Durant's surrounded by dynastic talent in Golden State, and his superstar status cements

the Warriors as title favorites for years to come.

But, he only signed a one-year guaranteed contract last summer, and could hypothetically

opt-out this July and rejoin Westbrook and the Thunder.

At least, that's what Perkins is insinuating: Durant could finally win his first NBA title

with the Warriors, and then come back "home" to OKC and tag-team with Westbrook again.

It sounds nutty, but crazier free agency decisions have happened before in the NBA.
