Top 10 Coolest Tech Under $50 ! - Duration: 11:25.

Welcome back people, I'm ThioJoe, and I've got a great list of awesome tech you guys

will want to hear about, and all of these things are under $50.

Some of these you may have heard of, some maybe not, but I'm sure you'll at least find

a few of these interesting.

Plus I'll throw in some honorbale mentions at the end, like those that are just a little

bit over $50.

Of course I'll put links to all these in the description.

And yes, I am going to shout out my instagram again, I try to post cool stuff on there it's

just @ThioJoe, that link is also in the description.

So let's not wait any longer and jump right in.

First up, this is one I'm sure you're gonna be skeptical about at first, but hear me out.

It's an HDTV Antenna.

I know what you're thinking, dude are you kidding, a TV antenna?

What year is it?

Listen, you might not have known this, but if you're someone who doesn't want to pay

for cable TV, you can get all the major network TV channels like NBC, CBS, ABC, and others,

for free, in High Definition, with an atenna.

These aren't the old days where you have the big bunny ear antennas with crap quality that

you have to adjust.

I've made a video about this before, and the thing that surprises most people, is the HD

picture you get over the air for free, is actually BETTER than what you get with cable,

because it's not compressed.

Now the one I got is called the Winegard Flatwave, it's a 50 mile antenna, and it's actually

$53, but they have a ton on Amazon that are cheaper.

Definitely something to look into, just be sure to look up how far away your nearest

TV broadcast tower is so you know what range to get, there are websites that can tell you

that.

Ok moving on, we have the Avantek Wireless Doorbell for $28.

This one is great for people like me who might live in an apartment that doesn't have a doorbell.

Before, if I was in another room with my headphones on and someone knocked on the door, I might

not hear them.

There are plenty of other brands you can get, but I liked the design on this one.

With it, you get two receiver modules that actually ring, and the doorbell button that

you can just stick anywhere.

I just used some command strips and stuck it outside my door.

I like that it has a bell symbol on it, so it's very obvious that it's a doorbell, and

then when you press it, it rings both the receivers at the same time.

And you can also choose from a bunch of tones and change the volume as well.

Alright number 3 is one I've mentioned in other videos, which is the "Promixx 2.0" blender

/ mixer for $30.

I guess it's not really a true blender, because it doesn't use metal blades, but this thing

is great for stuff like protein shakes.

It's really straight forward, you just put in water, whatever powder and stuff, and then

turn it on, and it starts spinning really fast.

The first time I turned it on I was actually surprised how much power this thing can deliver,

when you're holding it you can tell it's not messing around.

One thing to note is they're apparently releasing a new version in November that's only in pre-order

right now.

So if you're on the fence or don't need one right now, I might just wait till the new

improved version comes out and get that.

Still, the current version is great and I've used it for years.

Number 4, you probably HAVE heard of this, it's the Google Home Mini, just announced

recently, coming in at $49.

The mini is to the Google Home what the Amazon Echo Dot is to the regular Echo.

As far as the software goes, it has all the same features as the regular Google home,

because it uses the same assistant.

Unfortunately I haven't gotten one of these yet, but I do have the regular Google Home

which I like a lot.

I think this would be great for someone who doesn't necessarily want to listen to music

on it, because the smaller speaker obviously won't sound as good.

Another difference is the mute button, which is now a switch, and you change volume by

tapping on the sides of it instead of a circular touch interface.

But I rarely ever physically interact with my Google Home anyway, that's not really the

point, so I think the Google Home Mini is a perfect entry point.

And yes, it can FINALLY do reminders.

Ok number 5 is tech related so it still counts, which are this pack of microfiber cloths for

$10.

This particular pack seems to just be generic, there's not really any brand name for them,

but they are really high quality for the price, and you get 8 of them, it's actually a great

deal.

Each cloth comes in an individual cardboard package, the clothes themselves are thick

and sturdy with seamed edges.

And yes, they're proper smooth microfiber material, not like that other crap that's

more like a roided up paper towel, you know what I'm talking about.

So yea if you've been looking for something to clean your phone or glasses with, these

are great.

Number 6, for those of you who have too many home network devices, there's the Netgear

8 Port gigabit switch, at $47.

Or, they have a 5 port version for $35.

If you don't know what a switch is, that's OK no judgement, you can just think of it

like an ethernet splitter.

Maybe I'm old fashion, but I still prefer the reliability of a hardwired ethernet cable

over WiFi when I have the choice.

If you either don't have a switch, or you have a basic 100 megabit one...

hah.

This is one to consider.

Obviously there are other brands out there, but I like this one because it just feels

like a quality product, and I've found them to be reliable.

They're all metal construction, not cheapo plastic that you typically see, and they look

pretty slick.

It's a simple, straight edge design, that just looks like a proper piece of networking

equipment.

Oh and I should point out they do make managed versions as well, but for those of you who

don't know what that means, you don't have to worry about that.

Seven, this is actually two tech related accessories that I'm going to count as one because they're

pretty similar.

First, is this pack of 50 velcro cable ties by a company called Pasow for about $7.

These things always come in handy, and they're so cheap you should just get some to have

on hand when you want to wrap up a single cable or multiple.

Also, related to that, is this really clever cable management sleeve for $15.

It's basically a two sided cloth material with velcrow, and you just wrap it around

a cluster of cables to keep them together and looking nice.

One side is black and one is white, so you can choose either color as the outside, and

you just cut it to whatever length you need.

They also come with these cord label clips you can use if you have a lot of similar looking

cables I guess.

So this is something I like, I used it to put behind my TV stand with the white outside

so it's just less messy than a bunch of black cables bundle together.

Number 8, it's a shame that we need something like this because so many companies are removing

headphone jacks, but anyway here it is, the TaoTronics Bluetooth Receiver for $15.

It's just a little bluetooth module with a 3.5mm output plug that you can plug into anything

and then stream to it.

For example, you might keep this in your car so when you're riding with friends and want

to listen to their music, they can do so even if their phones don't have a headphone jack.

Or maybe you have it hooked up to your speakers at home so you or your friends can easily

put on music that way if you don't want to bother with a cable or adapter.

Of course bluetooth still isn't really up to par with a proper cable, but hey, this

is cheap enough where it's easy to justify.

Coming near the end of our main list, number 9, is the Anker USB charging Hub with USB-C

port, which costs $50.

I think it's pretty obvious why a USB power hub is useful.

It's good for if you have a lot of devices of your own, or you could put it in a common

room where a lot of people might want to use it.

But with so many phones and devices using USB-C now, that just makes this even better.

You see this supports USB Power Delivery, which is the new standard for delivering extra

power through USB.

This means if you have one of the new iPhones, you can use this to fast charge your device

instead of using Apple's expensive charger.

It will also charge any other devices that need USB-C with power delivery, like the latest

Macbooks.

So if you're looking for a hub that can deliver a lot of power and will be pretty future proof,

this is one to look at.

Ok finally we have number 10, and after we can get into honorable mentions.

So for this we have the Yubico Security Key for $18.

This is also something I've talked about in other videos, and I think it is an awesome

device for the price, especially for people who are security conscious.

Basically, this is a physical usb device that you plug in and use as a method of Two-factor

authentication, and it's supported by a ton of major websites.

If you're not familiar with two factor authentication, this is how it works.

On websites that support it, you can make it so to log in, you not only need your password,

but also a special one-time code that is either sent to your phone through a text message,

or is generated through an app on your phone.

That way, if someone steals your password, they still can't log in.

But in some cases, you may fall victim to a "man in the middle attack", that I won't

really get into, but put simply, someone else gets your code instead of you, like they set

up a fake website, or steal your sim card.

A physical security key uses some more advanced encryption techniques that I'm not qualified

to explain, so to log in, you simply press the button on the key, and it does a secure

handshake with the service that can't be intercepted.

So it's much more secure than just using a regular code, and worth it especially for

services like Google, where you might have all your accounts tied to a single email.

Definitely worth it.

Alright so now onto a few quick honorable mentions.

First, is the Lutron Casetta Wireless dimmer plug and remote, which is $60, so a bit over

$50.

I've got a couple of these and find them really useful for some lights that I wanted to put

where there are no light-switch controlled outlets.

With this, you can plug it in anywhere, and now the lights you plug into it can be controlled

with the little remote you stick anywhere on the wall.

The next honorable mention are these super cool spiral edison type bulbs.

They come in a pack of 4 for $16.

I know they're just light bulbs but I thought they were super cool looking and wanted to

mention them.

And there are also other cool designs you can find all over Amazon that might be worth

looking through.

Finally, this one is kind of tech related I guess, but SO useful.

And that is a pair of long needle nose pliers, which go for around $15.

You might have a regular pair of needle nose pliers, but I doubt you have these.

They have come in handy so many times, like when I'm working on the inside of my computer

and drop a tiny screw at the bottom of the case.

But obviously this would be useful any time you need to get to something small in a hard

to reach place.

Next time that happens you'll be glad you had them.

So, that is it, hopefully you guys found a bunch of these pretty awesome and useful.

If you have any super cool gadgets you think I should talk about next time, feel free to

let me know down in the comments or on Twitter as well.

If you want to keep watching, I'll put some other videos right here, you can just click

on those, and if you want to subscribe, I make a few new videos every week.

And consider enabling notifications by clicking the bell, or else YouTube probably won't show

you any of my new videos anyway.

Again, I'm looking forward to hearing from you, so thanks for watching I'll see you next

time, have a good one.

10 Things That Sound Like BS, But Are True (Part 5) - Duration: 11:28.

In a world where fake news and false facts are rampant, it's hard to distinguish what

is true and what isn't, especially when it sounds so unbelievable.

We have gone through some crazy news stories and unbelievable tales from history and culled

even more of the most interesting, unbelievable facts that sound like BS, but are completely

true.

10.

The Highest Court of the Land

The Supreme Court is called "The Highest Court in the Land" because their rulings

decide the laws for the rest of the United States.

The physical courtroom is on the second floor of the Supreme Court building, but on the

fifth floor is a basketball court, appropriately nicknamed "The Highest Court in the Land."

The area was once used to house journalists, but in the 1940s it was converted to a gym.

Later, the basketball nets were added.

The basketball court is smaller than a regulation NBA court and, unfortunately, it's not open

to the public.

It's only used by off-duty officers and employees of the court, but people are not

allowed to use it on days when court is in session.

Many of the current Supreme Court Judges are a bit too old to play (though we like to imagine

Ruth Bader Ginsburg crossing fools over and making it rain from way downtown), but apparently

Neil Gorsuch plays basketball, which we learned during his hearing, so maybe he'll use it.

9.

If You Crack an Egg 60 Feet Underwater It Will Stay Together

If you were to crack an egg deep underwater, what would happen to it?

One thought is that it would break apart.

The second thought is that, geez man, what a waste of a delicious egg.

Think these things through.

However, what really happens is that it actually stays together and looks like some type of

alien jellyfish.

The reason it stays together is because the pressure underwater at that level is about

2.8 times the atmospheric pressure than on land, which makes the water act like a shell.

This pushes the egg together, in a spherical, creepy looking blob.

8.

Hippos Sweat Red and it Works Like Sunscreen

Hippopotamuses are distant relatives of pigs and are known for their aggressive behavior

towards other species – especially humans.

One interesting thing about their physiology is that their sweat appears to be red.

The Ancient Greeks thought that they were sweating blood.

But, it actually turns out that a hippo's sweat comes in two different colors: red and

orange.

The sweat is a clever solution to the hippo's evolutionary niche.

During the night, hippos venture out onto land and eat as much food as they can and

then spend most of the day in the water digesting their food.

But since hippos are such big animals, they need to venture out during the day, under

the hot sun, to get food.

Mammals that live on land generally have natural protection from the sun – fur.

However, having fur isn't helpful if you spend your days in the water.

So the hippos developed the two types of sweat, which both act as sunscreen.

The red one also has antibacterial properties that prevent pathogens from getting into the

wounds and accelerate healing, which is helpful to the aggressive animals.

7.

Three to Five Pounds of Your Body Weight is Bacteria

Your body is a complex machine with many running parts and just like Goldilocks' porridge,

many people consist of just the right amount of components.

Case in point, our body contains 1,700 types of bacteria.

According to Lita Proctor from the National Institute of Health's Human Microbiome Project,

that would be enough to fill a large can of soup, which is about three to five pounds

of bacteria.

Until recently, most of these bacteria were unidentified.

Researchers took samples from the bellybuttons of 95 subjects and found 1,400 strains of

bacteria.

662 of them had previously been unrecognized.

In total, there are over 10,000 species of microbes in the human body.

And apparently, waaaaay too many of them live in our bellybuttons.

Someone pass the cotton swabs…

6.

Barry Manilow Wrote Some of the Most Famous Jingles Ever

Barry Manilow is one of the biggest American pop singers of all time.

He's had 47 Top 40 hits including "Mandy," "Can't Smile Without You," and "I

Write the Songs," which he ironically didn't write.

While some people reading this list might be too young to know who Barry Manilow is,

there's a good chance that you know some of his work.

That's because he's written and performed some of the most famous jingles ever.

One of the most famous ones is "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there."

He was apparently paid a flat fee of $500 for it in the 1970s and it's still in heavy

use today.

Another famous one he wrote and sang was "I am stuck on Band-Aid / 'cause Band-Aid's

stuck on me."

A third one he wrote and performed was "Give Your Face Something to Smile About" for

Stridex.

Besides just writing several famous jingles, Manilow also performed "You Deserve a Break

Today" for McDonald's, KFC's "Grab a Bucket of Chicken," Pepsi's "Feelin'

Free," and finally, "I'm a Pepper / He's a Pepper / She's a Pepper / Wouldn't you

like to be a Pepper, too?"

jingle for Dr. Pepper that was written by Randy Newman.

5.

The Tragedy of New Mexico's State University's First Graduating Class

New Mexico State University was founded in 1888 as Las Cruces College.

Two years later, it merged with New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts.

The first graduate of the newly formed New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic

Arts was a 17-year-old named Samuel Steele.

In 1893, Steele was the only member of the senior class, but tragically, he never made

it to his commencement.

On March 9, 1893, Steele was shot while delivering milk.

There were no witnesses and the motive remains a mystery.

There was a suspect in the case, a man named John Roper.

He was even convicted, but later released on an appeal.

The first graduating class to make it to New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic

Arts' commencement did so a year after the murder in 1894 and consisted of five students.

In 1995, a street near the university had its name changed to Sam Steele Way in honor

of their fallen first graduate.

4.

Why is Bluetooth Called Bluetooth?

When it comes to questions about Bluetooth, usually "why the hell isn't it connecting?"

is probably what comes to mind first.

"Wait, I don't even have Bluetooth turned on, what the hell is connecting?" is likely

the second.

But have you ever thought about why it's called Bluetooth?

After all, it's wireless technology, what does blue or a tooth have to do with it?

In the 1990s, when short-range wireless technology was being developed, different companies were

working on different technologies.

Some of the engineers thought it would be better if the companies pooled their resources

together and came up with one industry standard for short-range wireless technology.

The name was suggested by Jim Kardach, an Intel engineer who was reading a book about

Vikings around the time the new division was created, and it contained the story of Harald

Bluetooth, who was the Viking king of Denmark between 958 and 970.

He was famous for uniting parts of Denmark and Norway together and for converting the

Danes to Christianity.

Essentially, he was a good at uniting people and that's what Kardach wanted to do with

short-range wireless technologies – unite them in one format.

The name Bluetooth was meant to be just a placeholder until they came up with something

better, but it got picked up by the media and has stuck around ever since.

3.

A Man Cured Himself of OCD by Shooting Himself in the Head

In the early 1980s, a man only identified as George was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive

disorder (OCD).

The disorder forced George to wash his hands hundreds of times a day and to shower frequently.

It had a crippling effect on his life and the 19-year-old was forced to drop out of

school and quit his job.

Things got to be so bad that he told his mother that he wished he was dead.

Amazingly, she said that he should go shoot himself.

We assume her Mother of the Year trophy got lost in the mail.

Anyway, George grabbed a .22 caliber rifle, put the barrel in his mouth, and pulled the

trigger.

George didn't die and the bullet got lodged in his front left lobe.

Surgeons were able to remove it, but they weren't able to get all the fragments.

In a stroke of unbelievable luck, the bullet destroyed the area of the brain that causes

the symptoms of OCD.

In extreme cases of OCD, surgeons will remove that area of the brain.

If all that wasn't amazing enough, George also didn't lose any of his intelligence.

After taking some time to recover from being shot in the head with a rifle, he completed

high school, went to college, and he was able to get a job.

2.

You're More Likely to be Killed by a Hospital Accident than a Car Accident

Four studies using data from 2008 to 2011 found that 210,000 to 400,000 deaths were

caused every year in America by preventable accidents that happened in the hospital.

That would make it the third leading cause of death, just behind cancer and heart disease.

In 2011, there were 126,438 deaths from other kinds of accidents, which includes car accidents.

Canada isn't much better, according to The National Post, 70,000 Canadians are hurt every

year while in the hospital.

The problem comes down to the fact that doctors are not infallible computers.

They're just people who make mistakes and they are susceptible to biases just like the

rest of us.

In Michael Lewis' 2016 book The Undoing Project, he relays a story of a young woman

in Toronto who was in a bad car accident and suffered multiple broken bones and injuries.

When she was taken into the emergency room, the medical staff discovered that she had

an irregular heart beat.

Sometimes, it would miss a beat and other times it would add one.

Before the woman lost consciousness, she said that she had an overactive thyroid.

Overactive thyroids can cause irregular heartbeats, so the staff instantly thought that was the

cause.

However, an overactive thyroid wasn't the most likely cause for an irregular heartbeat.

Statistically, some other injury was likely to be the culprit, like a collapsed lung.

Sure enough, the woman had a collapsed lung and the tests results came back that the woman's

thyroid was working normally.

While it's a scary thought that hospitals can be dangerous, the story of the woman in

Toronto is an example of how this type of situation could be curtailed.

In that case, the hospital had a doctor named Don Redelmeier, who works as an auditor on

medical cases.

When a patient comes into the emergency room, he gets the medical staff to take a moment

and try to think as logically and rationally as possible, and his hospital has seen a decrease

in medical mistakes and accidents.

There's a Lost Nuclear Bomb Submerged Off the Coast of the State of Georgia

On February 5, 1958, Col. Howard Richardson was flying a B-47 loaded with a 7,000 pound

nuclear bomb near Tybee Island, Georgia, when an F-86 fighter plane on a training mission

accidentally collided with him.

The pilot in the F-86 didn't see the B-47 on the radar and descended directly into it.

The collision ripped the left wing off the F-86 and it damaged the fuel tank of the B-47

that was carrying the nuclear bomb.

Richardson flew towards land, but he was worried that the landing would detonate the large

nuclear bomb, so he dropped it in the water before reaching land.

Luckily, all the men in the planes survived the collision, but the bad news was that the

nuclear bomb was nowhere to be found.

The Navy spent over two months looking for the bomb, but couldn't find it.

Experts think that the bomb isn't dangerous and should remain inactive as long as it's

not disturbed.

So if you want to go treasure hunting, you might want to steer clear

of Tybee Island.

'Cause every time I open up, it hurts So I'm never gonna get too close to you

Even when I mean the most to you In case you go and leave me in the dirt

But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry

And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry

And every time you walk out, the less I love you

Baby, we don't stand a chance, it's sad but it's true

I'm way too good at goodbyes (Bye Bye Bye Bye Bye)

Oh Too good at goodbyes

(Bye Bye Bye Bye Bye) Woah

I know you're thinkin' I'm heartless I know you're thinkin' I'm cold

I'm just protectin' my innocence I'm just protectin' my soul

I'm never gonna let you close to me Even though you mean the most to me

'Cause every time I open up, it hurts Oh I'm never gonna get too close to you

Even when I mean the most to you In case you go and leave me in the dirt

But every time you hurt me, the less that I cry

And every time you leave me, the quicker these tears dry

And every time you walk out, the less I love you

Baby, we don't stand a chance, it's sad but it's true

I'm way too good at goodbyes Oh (Bye Bye Bye Bye Bye)

Too good at goodbyes

(Bye Bye Bye Bye Bye) Woah No way that you'll see me cry (cry)

Mmmh Too good at goodbyes

(Bye Bye Bye Bye Bye) Yeah

No, no, no, no, no (No )

No, no, no oh oh No, no, no

No, no, no, no, no Aaaah No

No oh oh

You hurt me, the less that I cry Every time you leave me, the quicker it hurts

But every time you walk out, the less I love you

Baby, we don't stand a chance, it's sad but it's true

I'm way too good at goodbyes (Bye)

5 talking points from Liverpool 0-0 Man United - Late subs, winless run and Wijnaldum

Liverpool dominated but couldn't find a way through against Man United, drawing 0-0 in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. Liverpool 0-0 Man United. Premier League, AnfieldOctober 14, 2017.

Jurgen Klopp named a largely expected XI and the Reds headed into the match knowing a win was imperative, playing catchup to the top four as they were.

As has been the case in recent meetings between the sides, the game was tight, tense and bereft of clear chances for long spells, though Liverpool had the better of the first half.

Joel Matip was denied by a fantastic David de Gea save, while both Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho also both missed chances.

The second half saw more of the same: dominant spells for Liverpool, but a succession of missed half-chances as United focused far more on containment than going for the points, and a 0-0 draw was the end result.

Here are the biggest talking points from the clash at Anfield. One Win in Eight.

It seems a long time ago that Liverpool battered Arsenal, but since that day in August the Reds have taken just a single further victory in their next eight games.

There was plenty of discussion beforehand over Klopp's record against Brendan Rodgers' before he was dismissed, but it's an irrelevant sideshow.

The Premier League—the top end, at least—is far more competitive now than it was two years ago, and the identity of the team under Rodgers at the end had completely disintegrated.

Results haven't gone well for the Reds of late, no use in denying it, and there have been at least three matches which should have been won which haven't—including against United.

Klopp will have to find the answers and be accountable for the points tally, just like every other manager, but there's no reason to suggest that he should be under any pressure, should be worrying about his position, and so on.

Mistakes have been made, on and off the pitch. But performances in general? They remain decent for the most part, excellent in some areas, woefully inadequate in yet others.

More to do, and improvements have to come quickly, but rhetoric over the manager is pointless, lacking context and unhelpful. Exactly What's Required From Wijnaldum.

Too often, Gini Wijnaldum receives criticism—justified criticism—for not impacting on matches, for not seizing control of the centre of the park when the Reds aren't playing well.

Five minutes into the game he twice took the initiative, turning and driving on into the final third, and that's precisely what fans want to see from him more often. At Anfield and away from home. Against big clubs and smaller ones.

Clever movement, positive passing and a willingness to dribble into space—exactly what's required from a starting No. 8 in this system.

Consistency, as ever, has to be the watchword, and the second half—when the Dutchman has at times tailed off, even in his good performances—Wijnaldum continued to impress.

His runs forward off the ball continued to be a feature, even if he didn't always receive the pass, and on a day when chances were at a premium that kind of bravery was a must.

Perfect Illustration of Why Salah Signing Was Important.

For a 10-minute spell in the first half, Salah was simply electric: racing past defenders, drawing fouls and helping fashion a string of half-chances for his team.

While his individual ability alone was cause to sign him, from a tactical perspective it was vital that the Reds brought in a wide forward of that style.

Sadio Mane was pivotal last season because of his pace, his penetration and his willingness to get beyond the opposition defence—but when he was absent, nobody else in a Liverpool shirt could do the same.

Naturally, the best option is to have both of them available, but it's vital that the Reds have someone in place every game to fill that role, and Salah brings exactly that.

For most of the game he seemed the most likely source of a goal for Liverpool, not just with his pace but his willingness to attack both posts just on the chance that something fell his way. Coutinho's Influence Continues to Grow.

The Brazilian was already Liverpool's best player on a technical level, but after all the summer furore over a possible move to Barcelona, his form really could have gone either way.

It's testament to Coutinho himself, to Klopp and indeed to the club for keeping him, that Coutinho has immediately come back in and started playing even better than previously.

Goals in previous matches have proven hugely important, but against United Coutinho simply dominated proceedings.

His team-mates look to him constantly, he's the instigator of attacking buildup simply by when and how he manages to find space for himself, and when he finds that extra yard of space he's consistently able to generate something of note out of it.

The transfer rumours certainly aren't going to go away, and Liverpool will have to remain strong-willed if they want to keep Coutinho.

But what is certain is that the rumoured prices in the media are way off-base—Coutinho will only see his valuation increase with this type of performance in big games.

It's not new, but Klopp waited until 78 minutes into the match to make any alterations to his starting lineup.

Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came on as a double change, and while Klopp has been criticised for waiting so long previously, was there an alternative?.

Neither of the English duo have made a compelling case for more minutes with their recent form; Liverpool were dominating and playing better than United with the starting XI; and the balance, as ever is delicate: change one component of the team and another can suffer.

In a match with so much at stake, the dilemma for the boss is whether to gamble on three points and risk ending up with nothing.

As for taking off Coutinho and Salah, the two most influential attackers, it must be remembered that they went through a lot of travel and action on the international break.

Ultimately, there simply wasn't enough time for any of the subs, Dominic Solankeincluded, to have any kind of telling impact.

Liverpool 0-0 Man United: Player Ratings

Liverpool played well but were frustratingly held again at home by Man United to a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon. Here's how they fared. Liverpool 0-0 Man United. Premier League, AnfieldOctober 14, 2017.

Simon Mignolet – 7 (out of 10). Had very little to do but when called upon he made a critical save, denying Romelu Lukaku from seven yards.

This was a big game for the youngster, showed excellent composure throughout and held a good level of concentration. Was on the wrong end of a challenge from Lukaku which could have unnerved him, it didn't! Star defender for this fixture.

Had very little to do as United looked happy to sit back, when called upon was reliable with possession and distribution.

If not for the brilliance of David de Gea he could well have been the hero of the first half, denied on 34 minutes by a reactionary save which looked impossible.

Likes to drive forward and help the attack from its base point.

Suffered an early rinsing by Henrikh Mkhitaryan but soon settled. Offers far more to the attack than the defence, managed to find himself in the right attacking area at the right time.

Sprayed the ball around well and was key to a quick transition. Always looks to build the attack, and had the time and space to do so. Didn't forget his defensive midfield duties either, gave excellent cover.

Can be relied to break down the attack of the opposition and showed this to good extent. Should have done better with his opportunity in the second half but steered the ball high over the bar into the Kop.

Showed the lung-busting surge that typifies his home games early on, frightened the United midfield and defence on six minutes. Could really do with a world-class striker to slide in.

Philippe Coutinho – 8 (Man of the Match). Was very lively and single-handedly took the challenge to United, fired in some dangerous crosses and balls.

Replaced on 76 minutes, a sign of his work rate. Still short of match fitness but is getting there.

Should really be Man of the Match; however, missed a few opportunities that he should have converted. You get the feeling if he scores one, he'll get a hat-trick. Just needs to get the one to let the flood gates open.

Needs more of a killer instinct, played well though. Some exceptional footwork on display that embarrassed Chris Smalling and Phil Jones. Substitutes.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (on for Salah, 76′) – 6. Did little wrong, did little of real inspiration. Fired a dangerous ball in on 81 minutes but it came to nothing.

Difficult game to come on to but is a short of the level expected. May take a while longer to settle and fully gel with his team-mates. Daniel Sturridge (on for Coutinho, 76′) – 6.

Needed to have the dynamic Coutinho and Salah on the pitch to provide him the creativity he thrives upon. Dominic Solanke (on for Firmino, 88′) – N/A.

Didn't get any real opportunity, a very odd substitution—should have been given longer if realistically expected to have an impact. Manager.

Killed the creativity in the game on 76 minutes by withdrawing both Coutinho and Salah, then expected Sturridge to feed off scraps. Liverpool played well but Klopp needs to find an out-and-out striker to top this excellent midfield/attack off.

Did wonders with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Dortmund by converting him from a winger into a striker, it won't work at every club.
