Hi guys, I'm Karen Kavett and I want to know who else here is obsessed with Riverdale?
After Season 2 started last week I knew that I had to make some DIYs inspired by it, so
today we are making Riverdale pumpkins, including one that glows in the dark and lights up,
it came out so good.
So, make sure to like this video, let's see if we can get it up to 2000 likes.
Also if you like these projects, make sure that you also head on over to my Facebook
page to check out the Facebook version of it that I'm uploading over there.
Last week the Harry Potter pumpkins video got like 5 million views over on Facebook,
so that's where everything's happening, come join my Facebook party, I'm gonna have
the link right down below.
Alright, let's get started.
Ok so usually I start with the easiest project but this time let's jump right in with the
big guy.
You'll want to print out this template which I'll link down below and cut out the Pop's
logo.
Then color the back of it with a pencil.
Tape that in place on the pumpkin and then start tracing the outlines and the dots, which
is where the lights will go.
When you remove the paper, the logo is now on the pumpkin.
Now take red duct tape and cut a few thin strips of it.
Use those to outline the logo you just drew.
Once all of that is on there, it's time to add the lights.
Use a utility knife to carefully cut a hole in the back of the pumpkin just big enough
for you to reach inside.
Now I'm so excited, it's time to use my drill.
Do a few test holes in the back to get a feel for the material and then flip it over and
start drilling into each of the spots for the lights.
A few things here - I used a 3/16th of an inch drill bit, but you might need a different
one depending on the size of your lights.
I also had to adjust the placement of the lights because the original logo had 30 lights
and my strand of lights only had 20.
And if you don't have a drill or a string of lights, you can totally just skip this
part and just add dots made from glow in the dark tape instead.
So once all of that is drilled, I found that I had to stick the light through the front
in order to open up the holes enough that I could then reach inside and stick the lights
in through from the back.
This part is really annoying and really fiddly, but you can do it, I promise.
So once all of the lights are on there, I think that looks amazing.
Now use chalkboard tape to cut out the arrow and the sign.
Once those are on the pumpkin, outline them with more of the thin red tape.
Then stick a piece of glow in the dark tape onto the backing from the chalkboard tape,
and cut out the letters using small detail scissors.
Now to finish it off, cut really really thin strips of the glow in the dark tape, and press
those in place in the center of the red duct tape.
This is what's going to make it look like a neon sign.
And, we're done.
I'm obsessed with how this came out.
It looks so cool during the day, but then wait, at night you can flip on the lights
and the outline glows in the dark and it still looks amazing.
So now let's move on to the classic Riverdale cheerleader pumpkin.
Once again I'll have this template linked right down below.
Cut out the center design and trace it onto a piece of white cardstock.
Then keep trimming down the template to cut out all of the pieces from yellow and blue
cardstock.
Once you have everything cut out, use a gluestick to glue it all together.
Then cut out the stripes from the pattern.
Use washi tape to temporarily tape everything in place.
Then trace the outline of the triangles using a pencil.
Now you're going to paint the inside of the triangles with white paint.
And once that's dry, paint the rest of the pumpkin with blue paint.
You might have to do a few coats to get a totally opaque finish.
Once your pumpkin is painted, cut strips of yellow tape - you'll want three wide ones
and two thin ones for each side.
Apply the strips just like how they look on the cheerleader's uniforms.
Once you've finished that on both sides, just add a big glob of hot glue to the center
to glue the letter in place.
And that's it!
This pumpkin has so much school spirit and if you have this on your desk at work and
someone recognizes it, you're gonna make a new best friend.
And finally, it's time to put on our leather jackets and start up our motorcycles, because
we're making a Southside Serpents pumpkin.
Print out their logo and then cut out each piece.
Use a hot glue gun to glue it to black craft foam or you could use any cardboard or museum
board that you already have.
Then after you've cut them all out, realize that you made the design a little too big
for your pumpkin, so print out a smaller version and repeat those same steps.
Then just hot glue each piece onto the pumpkin.
Start by gluing the center to get the placement right, and then you can glue down the edges.
And we're done.
This one is so much easier than the others, but again, if someone recognizes what it is,
you guys can bond over your love for Jughead together.
So there we go.
I love how these came out, and no spoilers but I cannot wait to find out who shot you
know and what even is going on with Polly.
I'm so ready for Season 2, I'm so into it.
So what do you guys think?
If you're still watching, I want you to leave me a comment telling me who is the character
that you would be the most sad if they killed off the show.
Or if you don't watch the show and you don't care about Riverdale, leave me a comment with
the code word hamburger and then I'll know that you watched all the way to the end.
As I said before, make sure that you head on over to Facebook to check out the sharable
version of this video over there, go share it with all of your Riverdale loving friends.
And if you want more pop culture pumpkin ideas, you can check out my Harry Potter Pumpkins
video from last week, I'll put that link right down below.
And I know that I've been kind of hyping it up a lot, but next week is when I'm finally
gonna reveal this year's Halloween costume, I just finished it the other day, it looks
so good, it was exactly what I was picturing.
So stay tuned until next week's video for that and I'll see you guys next time.
