Hello Everyone!
Today I am going to teach you the importance of Google Classroom.
So Google Classroom is a web-based platform that incorporates all of Google's services
such as: Docs, Forms; Slides' Gmail, Calendar, and so forth.
This is an absolutely amazing site!
It's Paperless.
It teaches kids the skills that they need to be successful in today's workforce and
best of all – it's free!
So, the first step is to set up a Google Classroom account.
All schools have a Google for Education account.
If you don't know how to access it, you can talk to your tech supervisor.
The first step is to go to classroom.google.com.
Then you will hit the plus sign up at the top of the browser to create a class.
Once you do this – you will type in a class name and section and then click create.
Now the great thing about Google Classroom is that you can rearrange the tabs however
you would like to.
Once you create the class – you will be given a class code – to invite students
to join your class.
So right here is the class code.
You can email it to them.
You can have it up on the board for them to sign in – whichever works best for you.
You can also invite parents and guardians and email students
with this.
So to add an assignment: click the plus sign at the bottom of the screen – and simply
hit create assignment.
Give it a title.
Add instructions.
Assign a due date if you would like a due date.
You can also add topics – whichever topic it fits in.
And then, attach it.
It is really simple!
And here you can see that students can view the file – but they can't make changes
to it.
They can edit the file – as is.
Or you can make a copy for each students to edit.
And then hit assign.
It is as simple as that!
So with creating assignments, students can no longer use the excuse that you lost their
work, because they submit it on here.
This will tell you how many have completed the assignment and how many have not.
You can also go through and grade the assignment and give them feedback.
You can also organize the assignments by due dates.
Everything goes into a calendar for students, so that they can see what they have due, and
when it is due.
You can also email students directly from Google Classroom, so you no longer have to
set up a distribution list.
The other great thing is that you can also add class announcements – if pictures are
due or there is something for homeroom.
It is as easy as posting a class announcement.
I hope that this has been informative and that you are willing to give Google Classroom
a try!
It's really an amazing program!
Thank you!
