Democratic Senators Push For Student Loan Debt Forgiveness Before Trump Gets Sworn In - Duration: 4:10.
With less than a month before Donald Trump officially gets sworn in as the next president
of the United States, democrats in the senate are working tirelessly to pass through a package
that would provide student loan debt relief for students who were ripped off by for-profit
college scams, much like Trump University.
The reason they're trying to do this right now is actually because they understand that
Donald Trump, as someone who ran one of these phony for profit universities, he will do
nothing about the matter and doesn't understand that it's actually a problem.
Other students, students who went to DeVry University that recently settled a massive
lawsuit, they're saddled with these debts from these colleges that did not provide an
adequate education.
Many of them have actually gone out of business.
Some of them weren't even accredited, yet these students still racked up 30, 40, 50
thousand dollars worth of debt to get a degree that is essentially meaningless and worthless.
That's what senate democrats are trying to do right now.
It would be obviously a lot better if they were trying to come up with a packet, a relief
package, for everyone, but at least they're taking care of those who were really screwed
over by the system.
That is a great first step.
It's great that senate democrats are doing this.
Hopefully they have enough time before Trump gets sworn in to get this relief package passed
and signed by President Obama.
Then after that, you go for the big fish.
You go for universal, either debt free college, or help with some kind of federal loan system
that replaces the current one that doesn't charge a six to 12 percent interest rate.
Put it this way, back when I first started college, the year was 2001.
Federal student loans had an interest rate of 1.5%.
Four years later, when I graduated, federal student loans had an interest rate of 12%.
That's a big jump in just four years.
I can't even imagine how bad the problem is now, but I know how hard it's been on me.
I know how hard it's been on other people.
We can look at the statistics.
Billions of dollars in the United States for a generation that can't find work, and they're
straddled with debt, billions in debt combined.
That's the problem.
It's not just, "Oh, we've got student loans and we can't repay them."
No.
Nobody's complaining about that.
They're complaining about the fact that they work so hard, got these degrees, and now they're
entering a job field that's quite frankly horrible.
Yeah, the economy's adding new jobs, but they're not jobs that pay enough to pay off these
debts from these predatory banks and the federal government.
Relief has to happen.
Sorry, that's just they way it is republicans.
I know you don't like to talk about that, you don't like to give subsidies or extend
a helping hand to average citizens, but you're going to have to.
Again, cut the seven billion dollars a year that we give to the fossil fuel industry in
subsidies, and use it for student loan debt relief.
You could solve the problem in two or three years.
Done, forever, gone.
Just by cutting those subsidies.
That's all you'd have to do, but you're not willing to do it, because it's not students
saddled with student loan debt that are paying for your campaigns.
It's people like the fossil fuel industry, or the people on Wall Street that are profiting
off the student loan debt crisis.
I guess until students decide to start taking out loans to donate to politicians, we probably
won't get a real solution to this problem until we get Donal Trump out of the White
House, and put in a president who at least has a little bit of common sense.
Hopefully somebody that sounds a lot like Bernie Sanders when he talks.

Who is Bor Gullet: Saw Gerrera's Tentacled Interrogator in Rogue One - Duration: 3:11.
This video will contain spoilers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
I think most people can agree that the most bizarre moment from Rogue One was the interrogation
of Bodhi, performed by a creature known as Bor Gullet.
There seems to be a lot of ambiguity surrounded who or what he is, so I wanted to find as
much information as I could to see if we can't make sense of it all.
Most of the information I found came from the Rogue One novelization, the Art of Rogue
One book, and interviews, and it's more behind the scenes stuff, so there isn't
much to cover as far as actual in universe facts.
We don't even know for sure whether Bor Gullet is a species or if that's the character's
name.
From what I read I think it's his actual name, but I'm not totally sure.
What we do know is that Bor Gullet was a telepathic cephalopod that worked for Saw Gerrera.
He was ten feet long, six feet wide, and six feet tall.
He had very limited mobility, and required life support to survive on Jedha.
Bor Gullet fed off of other beings emotions, and his favorite quote unquote foods were
fear, sorrow, and sadness.
As he fed, he could also read minds.
The process is detailed somewhat in the novelization, at least from Bodhi's perspective.
He saw visions of his past.
Important moments in his life.
Memories of his mother, his flight instructor, his introduction to Galen Erso, and more.
Bor Gullet's feeding could drive someone insane, but in Bodhi's case, it just seemed
to jumble his mind.
For a while he had difficulty separating the present from the past as his mind worked to
put things back in order.
Needless to say, it was unpleasant.
According to writer Chris Weitz, the original script had Jyn as the victim of Bor Gullet.
Gareth Edwards wanted a creature that had incredible mental powers that was hindered
by its physical abilities.
Bor's telepathic powers are described as metaphysical, and I believe it's meant to
be kind of a natural Force ability.
I imagine the entire species feeds off emotions.
This is similar to Legends species like the Mind Witches that fed off the mental energies
of other sentient beings.
And we've seen other races that have inherent, limited Force abilities like the telepathic
Iktotchi or the telemetric Kiffar, or the non-sentient Vornskrs that hunted through
their use of the Force.
The design for Bor Gullet was based on an idea from Gareth Edwards that was then drawn
by Ivan Manzella.
Creature designer Neal Scanlan, who worked on The Force Awakens called the creature his
proudest achievement.
His team sculpted Bor as a full size puppet using two and half tons of silicone.
It took fifteen puppeteers to operate his body, tentacles, and eyes.
So he was mostly a practical effect that was then embellished with CGI.

Cook 1 sliced onion for 2-3 minutes, until tender. Step 2 Blend in curry paste and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in stock and coconut milk. Bring to the boil on high. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered for 10 minutes. Step 3 Stir in chicken, green beans and zucchini. Simmer, uncovered for a further 2-3 minutes, until beans are tender and chicken is hot. Season to taste. Step 4 Remove from heat. Stir through coriander leaves and serve with rice.
