China just stole a US Navy drone, and the Navy watched it happen.
Which, was better than starting a war.
Hi, welcome to China Uncensored, I'm your host Chris Chappell.
On Thursday, China stole an underwater US research drone
in the South China Sea.
The USNS Bowditch, an unarmed military research ship,
was sailing about 50 miles off the coast of the Philippines.
They were conducting research with two underwater drones called ocean gliders.
And the Chinese Navy...simply grabbed one out of the water.
"The Defense department says
the Bowditch immediately made contact to ask for it back,
but the Chinese ship simply sailed away.
Friday, Pentagon officials asked again.
Spokesman Captain Jeff Davis told reporters, quote:
"it is ours and we would like it back.
And we would like this to not happen again."
"Hey, you took my drone!"
"Yeah? What are you going to do about it?!"
"Give it back! Give it back!"
According to US officials,
the Chinese probably thought they were stealing a spy vehicle.
It was not.
U.S. officials say it was a research drone that was
"simply measuring ocean conditions."
But you know, "steal" is such a strong word.
"First, I want to say that we really don't like this word 'stolen'
and this word is completely incorrect.
As state-run media explained,
they were just trying to find out who the drone belonged to.
"In order to prevent the object from endangering the safety of the ship or people,
the Chinese rescue vessel took a professional and responsible approach
and carried out the identification checks on the object."
That's right, they merely discovered it,
after stalking that US Naval ship,
and wanted to identify whose it was,
right as the drone was about to dock with the ship.
I mean, China "highly values peace and stability in South China Sea."
Like when they put weapons on artificial islands they built in disputed waters.
But China has now agreed to return America's drone—
presumably after they discovered it wasn't that cool after all.
And that's the end of the story.
Except it isn't.
Because Donald Trump.
Many experts believe this drone-seizure was retaliation for that time two weeks ago,
when Trump took a phone call from the president of Taiwan.
Or that time one week ago when Trump questioned the entire One China policy.
But in fact, this is something the Chinese regime has done before:
test out America's new president.
In 2001, just after George W. Bush assumed office,
two Chinese warplanes made threatening maneuvers near a US spy plane
flying near China's Hainan island.
And then one crashed into it—
killing the Chinese pilot and forcing the US plane to land in China.
And then in 2009, shortly after Obama took office,
a group of Chinese navy vessels harassed a US naval research ship.
But if China was trying to send a message to Trump, well,
Honey Badger don't care.
Trump tweeted,
"We should tell China that we don't want the drone they stole back.
Let them keep it!"
Which turns that earlier fight into:
"We stole your drone.
What are you going to do about it?"
"Nothing. Fine. Keep it."
"Fine then."
"Fine then."
Of course, the US probably will still get the drone back
since it's not a top secret spy plane.
And also—as most of us have forgotten already—
Barack Obama is still president.

omega which we can see here in this figure. and a thin uniform rod ay b of length l performs
small oscillations about a vertical axis passing through point ay, we are required to find
the angular frequency of the oscillations. here you can see when, the rod is slightly
tilted from its initial position, it is due to the torque of centrifugal force in the
frame of disc the rod will perform oscillations between the dotted lines we can see here.
now to understand it better, we draw the restoring force, acting on the rod when it is at an
angle theta. here you can see this picture demonstrate you how, the rod is performing
oscillations. when the rod is tilted by an angle theta. at its center of mass, a centrifugal
force will act, onto the rod, with respect to the center of disc and this centrifugal
force is, m omega square, if this distance o c can be taken as r this will be r. and
the component of the centrifugal force in the direction perpendicular to the rod, will
have a tendency to, bring it back to the initial position. so here we can write, at an angular
displacement. theta. from mean position. restoring torque. on rod, here you can consider it with
respect to disc. is, this restoring torque we can write it as m omega square r, sine
of theta minus 5, the component of force in this direction, multiplied by, this l by 2,
the distance of center of mass from point ay. and, this centrifugal force will result
in angular acceleration alpha with which the rod will have a tendency to come back. so
this can be written as i alpha, where moment of inertia of rod about 1 end where it is
hinged can be written as m l square by 3, so it is m l square by 3 multiplied by angular
acceleration. here, if we open this sine theta minus phi, for small angles we can write it
omega square r as here m gets cancelled out. sine theta minus phi can be written as theta
minus phi multiplied by l by 2, is l square by 3 multiplied by alpha. here 1 l can also
be canceled out. the value of phi we can also calculated in terms of theta, like in this
small triangle if we draw perpendicular from point ay to line o c. here we can write the
length of this will be. as this distance we are given as ay, we can write ay phi is equal
to. l by 2 times theta minus phi as this angle is also theta minus phi. so on simplifying
this we get the value of phi as l by 2 theta. divided by ay plus l by 2. so if we substitute
the value of phi over here, we can see this will be omega square r multiplied by, we can
write this as theta minus phi we can write as, l by 2 theta upon ay plus l by 2. multiplied
by 1 by 2 is equal to l by 3 alpha. now in this situation here, we can use ay plus l
by 2 as, r so on simplifying this we'll get omega square r, multiplied by this is ay by
r, multiplied by theta. multiplied by 1 by 2 is l by 3 alpha so here r also gets cancel
out. the value of angular acceleration alpha we are getting is, 3 omega square ay by 2
l multiplied by theta. we can put a negative sign over here, we can write negative sign,
for, direction of alpha opposite to theta. here we can substitute this negative sign,
as these 2 are in opposite direction now we can compare. with, alpha is equal to minus
omega square theta. and this will result the value of angular frequency here you can see
this omega is the angular frequency, omega 1 we can write, and this omega is the angular
speed with which, it is rotating the disc is rotating. this omega is the angular speed
with which disc is rotating and omega 1 is, the angular frequency of, small oscillations
of rod which can be written as root of, 3 omega square ay by, 2 l. so this is the final
result, of angular frequency of oscillations of the rod.
