PHONE

BACK IN THE 90'S -- BACK IN THE

1990'S.

[LAUGHTER]

WE HAD SEVERAL HOURS WORTH OF

SNOW MOVING IN.

IN BALTIMORE CITY, LESS THAN A

10TH OF AN INCH AND ELDERSBURG

GOT AN END.

FREDERICK COUNTY WAS THE BIG

WINNER, JUST A LITTLE OVER AN

INCH.

HARFORD GOT 2/10 OF ALMOST AN

INCH.

IT WAS A QUICK SYSTEM THAT MOVED

THROUGH.

MOST FOLKS JUST GOT A DUSTING.

CURRENT TEMPERATURES -- EVERYONE

ABOVE FREEZING, BUT IN SOME

SPOTS, 34 AND WEST MINSTER -- IN

WESTMINSTER.

OUT WEST, THEY ARE IN THE LOW

30'S.

23 IN OAKLAND.

THE WINDS ARE PICKING UP WITH

GUSTS AROUND 17 MILES PER HOUR.

THEY HAD ONE AT 21 AT THE

AIRPORT, BUT THE WINDS ARE

PICKING UP AND WITH THE COLD

TEMPERATURES, IT WILL FEEL

DOWNRIGHT FREEZING WHEN THE SUN

GOES DOWN TODAY.

THERE IS A SNOW MOVING OUT.

THE EASTERN SHORE IS GETTING

RAIN.

THE NORTHERN SHORE -- THE

NORTHERN SURE IS GETTING SNOW.

WE COULD SEE A COUPLE OF QUICK,

SPOTTY FLURRIES THROUGHOUT THE

DAY.

JUST KEEP THAT IN MIND.

THIS WAS THE SYSTEM WE TOLD YOU

YESTERDAY.

THE FRONT FINALLY MOVING THROUGH

THE BUBBLE GET INTERESTING IS

WIND IS FINALLY DOES MOVE

THROUGH, THERE WILL BE LOW

PRESSURE THAT WILL GATHER OFF

THE COAST OF FLORIDA.

THIS IS THE BIG STORM EVERYONE

HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT SOCIAL

MEDIA.

THIS LOW IS GOING TO MOVE UP

NOR'EASTER-STYLE, GATHER

MOISTURE FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN

WHILE BRINGING DOWN SOME OF THE

COLD AIR FROM CANADA.

THE WAY THINGS LOOK RIGHT NOW

WAS THAT THIS THING IS GOING TO

MOVE THROUGH AND GIVE US THE

POTENTIAL OF HEAVY SNOW MONDAY

NIGHT INTO TUESDAY.

BUT ONE THING WE HAVE BEEN

NOTICING IS IT IS SLOWLY MOVING

TOWARD THE EAST.

SO, THAT IS GOOD NEWS AT THIS

POINT.

WE WILL KNOW MORE SATURDAY NIGHT

INTO SUNDAY.

KEEP IT HERE ON WB.

40 TO 45 DEGREES THE CLEARING IN

THE AFTERNOON, BUT BECOMING

BLUSTERY OUT THERE.

NORTHWEST WINDS AT 20 MILES PER

HOUR MAKING IT FEEL LIKE THE

30'S.

TONIGHT, VERY COLD, CLEAR

CONDITIONS A ISOLATED FLURRY

HERE AND THERE, BUT 18 TO 22

DEGREES WITH THOSE STRONG WINDS.

IT WILL BE FREEZING WHEN YOU

TAKE THE DOG OUT TONIGHT AND

TOMORROW, 29 TO 33 DEGREES.

YESTERDAY AFTERNOON.

COLD TEMPERATURES WILL STICK

AROUND.

HERE IS A LOOK AT THE 275 LOOP.

BECAUSE OF THE MORNING AND

AFTERNOON SUNSHINE, WE HAVE

RECOVERED A COUPLE OF DEGREES

HIGHER.

SOME NORTH WIND, BREEZY.

CINCINNATI AT 41 RIGHT NOW.

TEMPERATURES ARE MUCH COLDER

THIS AFTERNOON COMPARED TO

YESTERDAY.

THE HIGH OF 70 ON THURSDAY.

TODAY WE ARE IN THE LOW 40'S.

SOME EXTRA CLOUDS BUILDING IN,

SO WE WILL NOT HAVE MUCH MORE OF

A CLIMB.

AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES AROUND

41.

IT WILL FEEL LIKE 30 TO 35

DEGREES THIS AFTERNOON.

STILL PLEASANT LAST EVENING.

INTO THE LATE EVENING HOURS, THE

FRONT CAME THROUGH, TEMPERATURES

FALLING INTO THE 30'S THIS

MORNING.

WE HAVE STARTED A CLIMB RIGHT

NOW WITH A FEW EXTRA CLOUDS HERE

INTO THE MIDDAY.

A LOOK AT THE WLWT RADAR, EVEN

THOUGH WE HAVE CUBA'S CLOUDS

BUILDING THIS AFTERNOON, NOT

EXPECTING ANY PRECIPITATION.

THE ENTIRE VIEWING AREA IS DRY

ON THE RADAR.

WE EXPECT IT TO STAY DRY.

A COUPLE OF LINKS TO THE EAST,

NOT MUCH OF A PROBLEM.

ANOTHER WEEK IN SYSTEM THAT WILL

AVOID US TO THE WEST AND SOUTH.

WE WILL BE ON THE IN BETWEEN.

A FEW CLOUDS AND DEAL WITH BUT

NOT LIKELY ANY WE CAN

PRECIPITATION.

WITH THE WINDCHILL FACTOR IN, IT

FEELS LIKE 34.

WIND GUSTS AROUND 20 AT TIMES

THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.

SATELLITE AND RADAR SHOWING

QUITE A BIT OF SHOWER ACTIVITY

IN PENNSYLVANIA, HIGHER

ELEVATIONS IN WEST VIRGINIA.

A COUPLE OF SNOW SHOWERS IN OHIO

THIS AFTERNOON.

AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND,

BLUSTERY NORTH WIND TODAY WILL

COME THAT MUCH OF A WARM-UP.

RATHER CHILLY TODAY BUT QUIET.

SATURDAY, NOTICE THE SYSTEM

COMING OUT OF THE PLANES.

THIS WILL BE ACROSS MISSOURI AND

ILLINOIS TONIGHT.

EXTREME SOUTHWEST KENTUCKY.

COUPLE OF SNOW SHOWERS.

EASILY AVOIDING PRECIPITATION

ALL OF THAT ACTIVITY SATURDAY

EXPECTED TO THE SOUTH AND WEST

OF US, ALTHOUGH WE WILL GET SOME

CLOUDY SKIES TOMORROW.

HARD-PRESSED TO FIND ANY

SUNSHINE.

TEMPERATURES ON SATURDAY WITH

STRUGGLE WITH HIGHS IN THE 30'S.

TOMORROW UNDER CLOUDY SKIES, A

LITTLE BIT HIGHER ON SUNDAY.

MOST OF THE AFTERNOON HOURS WE

HAVE ALREADY HAD OUR HIGH

TEMPERATURE AND IN THAT THIS

MORNING IT WILL BE BLUSTERY AND

MUCH COLDER THAN IT HAS BEEN THE

LAST COUPLE OF DAYS WE DROP UP

TO 19 FOR A LOW TONIGHT UNDER

PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES.

TONIGHT WILL BE A SERIES OF HARD

FREEZES FOR THE OVERNIGHT.

BECAUSE NORTHERN KENTUCKY IS A

LITTLE MORE ADVANCE IN THE

GROWING SEASON THE NATIONAL

WEATHER SERVICE DECIDED THE

SOUTHERN HALF OF THE AREA TO PUT

UNDER A BREEZE WARNING UNTIL

NOON TOMORROW.

THE EARLY VEGETATION THAT MAY

HAVE COME UP ALREADY, YOU MAY

WANT TO COVER.

WE WILL HAVE HARD FREEZES INTO

NEXT WEEK.

Photography Tips – Picture Scanner Apps for Android – Picture Archiving – DIY in 5 Ep 44 - Duration: 2:41.

This is gonna be awesome for Flashback Friday!

Hey guys!

Welcome back to DIYin5, I'm Trisha Hershberger and in today's episode, we're going to show

you a couple of options to archive those old printed photos using your Android phone!

Don't worry, for all the apps we discuss we'll add links in the description below.

And if these apps help you out, be sure to subscribe to see all of our upcoming tips

and tricks.

First things first, no matter which app you use, you're still using a phone camera.

There are few things to you can do to make sure your photos turn out better on any app.

Make sure to use a solid color background to help the app identify your photo.

If you set your photos on a surface that's too busy, the app might not crop your photos as well.

Try to use bright and even lighting.

If you use harsh direct light your photos might end up with a pretty gnarly glare.

If there's a niche, Google probably makes an app for it.

And in this case, they do!

Google has created an app called PhotoScan particularly for photo archiving.

If you're already into Google Photos online backup you're going to love this one.

It's unique in that you take multiple pictures of each photo to get a nice even image that's

great for archiving.

Of course it takes a bit longer to use than other apps because of the multiple pictures,

so if you want to backup tons of photos keep that in mind.

If one button archiving is more your thing, Heirloom might be the right app for you.

The automatic cropping and built-in filters to the app are also pretty boss.

If you're a fan of Instagram filters, this might be for you.

When it comes to sharing photos, Heirloom has its own online service that people can

subscribe to, but it will cost you.

The big drawback to this app overall is the clunky user interface.

It defaults to looking at photos you've already taken, rather than shooting new ones.

If you want to save your photos to the phone's camera roll, that's also an extra couple of steps.

The last app we'll mention here is Shoebox by Ancestry.com.

If you have an Ancestry membership, this might be the path for you.

It's got a one button photo taking feature that lets you tag family members and add notes

like the year and location of the photo.

For any genealogy buffs out there, this is actually a pretty nifty feature.

If you just want to click and have the photo saved to your camera roll Shoebox does that too.

Have you archived any old photos, if so, how did you do it?

Let us know in the comments below.

And if you want to see how to free up storage on your Android so you can take more pictures,

check out this video here!

Thanks so much for watching DIYin5!

Buh-bye!

KIDS AT AN EARLY AGE IS A GOOD

THING.

VARIETY OF DRIED FRUIT LIKE

RAISINS.

SEAN: A LOT OF KIDS WILL SKIP

BREAKFAST.

BRIAN: THAT IS THE CHALLENGE.

A LOT OF KIDS, ESPECIALLY

TEENAGERS, AND IN OUR DISTRICT

BETWEEN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL AND

HIGH SCHOOL, WE HAVE ABOUT 1000

UNITS.

-- STUDENTS.

SEAN: AND THEY GET THAT ENERGY.

BRIAN: NUTRITION AND GOOD

LEARNING ARE DEFINITELY LINKED

TOGETHER FEAR THAT IS WHITE IT

IS SO IMPORTANT THAT THESE KIDS

GET A HEALTHY MEAL TO START THE

DAY.

SEAN: DO YOU FIND THAT THEY ARE

RESPONDING TO IT?

BRIAN: WE KEEP EXPOSING THEM TO

NEW ITEMS, AND WE ARE NOW DOING

SMOOTHING AND -- SMOOTHIES AND

TRY TO GET KIDS SOMETHING

ATTRACTIVE TO TRY TO EAT IN THE

MORNING.

LUNCH IS AN EASIER CHALLENGE

THAN BREAKFAST IS, BUT IT IS

STARTING TO WORK.

The Other Z - why you mispronounce this Scottish letter - Duration: 3:49.

Studying up on Early Modern English taught me how an old letter and a printing press

made us start mispronouncing a Scottish name.

In my search for the true sound of Shakespeare, long hours at the library paid off...

with way too many amazing subplots to squeeze into one video.

Before I tuck them into my notebook and turn out the lights, let me share one story I really

loved about a different kind of English.

Thanks to a long linguistic past, there are more varieties of English in the British Isles

than in the rest of the English-speaking world.

At the extremes, these actually behave like different languages.

We meet one of those extremes in the far north: Scots.

Not Gaelic, not Standard English with a trilly Scottish burr.

Scots.

It's the local lowlands way of saying "Scottish".

Just as their word Inglis evolved to Ingles, Scottis shortened to Scots.

Consider your company carefully before you weigh in on calling it a leid or a dialect.

It's a bit of a charged issue.

But either way, Scots has its own separate history.

The northern edges of Middle English gained a strong foothold in the Lallans, pushing

Scottish Gaelic to the Highlands.

The Scots leid emerged and evolved into its own subbranch of Anglic, complete with Scots

dialects and even a literary form with quirks of its own.

Quirks...

Like yogh.

This early English letter was a form of g used for a few sounds, including the glide

"y" in ye, and the raspy sound at the end of its own name: yo[x].

This letter didn't last down south - Caxton's printing press would print

"ye" and "you" like this.

But when Scotland got its printing press, yogh was still alive in ye, you and in the

name MacKenyie.

MacKENYIE?

Aye!

See, back then printing involved wooden sticks, metal pieces, formes, two people to ink and

press... it was a whole process.

These weren't the days of holding down a key on your phone until you get a little popup

to choose the right special character.

Type was literally metal pieces stored in a type case.

So you'd print with the type you had on hand and you would keep around just enough to print.

That spelled the beginning of the end for yogh.

The story goes that when the presses in Scotland didn't have the type, the metal piece, for

yogh in their wooden type cases, they just grabbed the letter zed instead.

Close enough, right?

Especially since their handwritten forms looked so similar at the time.

It's not that confusing, either.

After all, whether you call this letter zed or izzod, Modern Scots still doesn't use it

much for the sound /z/.

But some words became so well-known in print that, eventually, people based their pronunciation

on that printed spelling, reading a z-sound back into a word that never had it in the

first place.

This shortcut didn't impact Finzaen /ˈfɪŋən/ or Drumelzier /drəˈmɛljər/, nor the earlier

spelling of the isle of Yell.

But it is how Mac"Kenyie" turned into Mac"Kenzie".

Heh, this quirk is a great example of how language varieties can preserve little bits

of history, even events as specific as hauling a printing press into town and

picking letters out of a box.

Alright, enough followup.

I'll get back to work on the next full tale, the one you patrons voted for.

Consider becoming a patron yourself if you wanna help me spend more time making videos.

I deeply appreciate it.

Most importantly, stick around and subscribe for leid.

Typically, as a general answer, I would say that you have two years in the State of Illinois

to make a recovery or to pursue your case under the Statute of Limitations.

Personal injury cases in Illinois, particularly auto accidents, you have two years from the

date of said accident to perfect or to at least have your case filed in court.

Um... I'm not sure you did it right.

Do you think your dad followed us here? He freaks me out!

You're freaked out... by my dad?

I mean his name is Mr. Satan, for crying out loud!

The only thing freaking me out is that you took me to a cheap motel to talk about my dad.

[Uncomfortable laughter]

My bad... So, how about we-

And really! Where do you get off talking about MY dad.

Yeah, let's just keep talking. This is tons of fun.

YOUR dad is freaking Goku!

People debate whether or not he would win in a fight with Superman!

Let's not go there, okay?

You're right... I'm sorry.

My dad would WRECK Superman.

What was that?

Oh, nothin. Nothin.
