Hey everyone!
JAYSTEPHER with Lego Chess
by Lego Pirates.
Set number 40158.
Contains 857 pieces.
Recommended building ages are seven and up.
Just as a fair warning,
I am not a chess player.
I know very little about chess.
So this will be an informal review.
Looks like we get several figures.
Nice colorful box art.
Let's open this up.
Okay!
Look at all the parts.
So the bags are numbered for easy build.
That's always a plus.
Several bags with plates,
bricks,
and other various elements.
We do have instruction manuals.
Are these going to be easy to open up?
Oh they are.
I think.
[Laughs] Not too sure!
Let's just cut the top off.
I don't want to spend half the review
opening up the instruction manuals.
So there are indeed two manuals included.
Oh this bag has the Brick Separator.
I'm going to need that.
Well let's take a closer look at the Lego Chess game
after it has been assembled.
Here is the Chess game partially assembled.
[Laughs]
Yes! You heard me correctly.
Partially assembled.
Apparently I am missing one bag number three,
but I end up gaining an extra bag number one.
So I cannot put this set together any further.
I decided to do a review on it as-is
to show that sometimes Lego does make a mistake.
So this set is a lemon.
I'm not sure of the minifigure count,
but it appears that it has have some nice minifigures.
Some of the parts that were in the missing bag
were parts for these minifigures.
We do have a couple of parrots,
some chairs,
skulls.
I like the play field on this.
It does remove.
Just some 2 by 2 jumper plates and flat tiles,
and you got a cubbyhole
to throw your minifigures in.
And there are four in total,
and this can be broken up,
It is modular.
Really clever design.
This looks a bit unfinished around the edges.
I couldn't put the left-side together
due to the missing bag,
and some of the parts I don't even have in my collection.
So I cannot give an honest review on this set
seeing that it is incomplete.
I got this mainly for parts
for the bricks and some of the minifigure parts.
I'm sure that this will make a great set for any chess player
or even as a source for spare parts
provided that you get all the bags.
So I think this was just a lemon
that rolled off the assembly line.
I'll make some good use of the parts.
It does have a good value for plates.
I just wish I could complete the set.
I could contact Lego
and explained to them what happened,
but I'm not too worried about it.
So this concludes the partial build and review
of Lego Chess by Lego Pirates.
Set number 40158.
