Trumpcare Bill Will Give Wealthy Lawmakers A Huge Tax Break - Duration: 4:03.

As Republicans in Washington, D.C. prepared a vote on Trumpcare 3.0, the real third attempt

that they've had to repeal and replace Obamacare in the last six years and five months, a provision

of this bill was recently exposed by the International Business Times that showed that it would actually

financially benefit many Republicans throughout this country by repealing a net investment

tax of 3.8% that the Affordable Care Act put on people who earn more than $200,000 a year.

As it turns out, this particular tax though it applied to about 3% of tax filers in the

United States actually generated billions of dollars that helped to pay for the Affordable

Care Act and subsidized healthcare for those who cannot afford it.

By repealing this particular tax, which the Republican legislation does, it will provide

a massive tax cut sometimes in the form of millions of dollars for many Republican politicians,

again, not just in Washington, D.C., but all over the country.

At the same time that Republicans are giving themselves a huge tax cut by taking away healthcare

from millions of people, we're also seeing in this legislation a 25% reduction in funding

for Medicaid services all throughout the United States.

Now, one of the things that this Medicaid reduction will do is school systems all over

this country to have to cut back on special education programs and caregiving.

Meaning, that if you have a special needs child, even something as slight as autism

on the low end of the spectrum, the schools in your area could have to cut their funding,

cut their teaching staff because they're not going to be able to afford it because those

programs are paid for through Medicaid.

Furthermore, this particular bill has yet to be any Congressional Budget Office analysis

of it, so we don't even know what kind of financial impact it's going to have on the

budget, on the country, essentially on anything.

Something that just a few years ago in 2009 Paul Ryan said, "You should never bring a

piece of legislation to a vote if there's no CBO analysis and if members of Congress

have not read it yet," which happens to be the case with this particular piece of legislation.

Again, what we know about this legislation lacking any kind of professional congressional

analysis of it is that close to 10 million people will lose their ability to afford health

insurance coverage.

People with preexisting conditions are going to be priced out of the system and have no

government assistance to back them up to be able to pay for the increase in premiums.

Premiums for everyone else may fall initially but then they will rise back up to current

levels within two years, and we're going to cut money from Medicaid.

We're going to de-fund Planned Parenthood and we're going to give a huge tax break to

the wealthy elite and Republican politicians from coast to coast in the United States.

That's why your healthcare might be going away because Republicans want to give themselves

and they want to give their wealthy donors a tax break.

At the end of the day, that's all this repeal and replace has ever been about.

It's about giving the wealthy more money and making the less fortunate continue

to suffer.

Radium Was a Miracle Product, Until it Started Killing People - Duration: 3:20.

Hoping to get your pearly whites brighter?

Try radioactive toothpaste!

Is that a sad, boring piece of toast?

Spread on some radium butter for a tasty treat.

Looking worn out?

Don't forget to treat your skin with radium cosmetics, for that bright, youthful look.

Considering what we now know about the dangers of radiation, these products seem preposterous.

But they were real.

In the early 20th century, the harmful effects of radiation exposure weren't fully known

until a group of women in New Jersey paid a fatal price for us to find out.

So, what is radium anyway?

Well, radium is a chemical element that was discovered by Marie and Pierre Curie in 1898.

It's found in uranium ore and is formed when uranium and thorium break down.

It's highly radioactive, which means it gives off energy called radiation.

And that radioactivity is actually useful in treating cancers, which is exactly what

radium was used for shortly after its isolation.

In addition to all of that, it also gives off a pretty cool faint, blue glow.

Now, at the beginning of the 20th century, the mystical healing properties and glow of

radium were being used by advertisers to sell a range of products from food to cosmetics.

It was like the early 1900's version of kale, except instead of being a leafy green,

its horrifically deadly radiation salts.

Sometimes this was just a clever marketing ploy, but certain products, like the drink

Radithor, actually contained small amounts of the chemical element.

The elixir was famously used by celebrity golf champion Eben Byers, who later died from

radiation poisoning.

But it wasn't radium's medicinal uses that led to the exposure of it dangerous side

effects.

It was its use in glow-in-the dark paint.

In Orange, New Jersey, the United States Radium Corporation used a radioluminescent paint

called "Undark" to illuminate the dials on watches used by the military.

The women working in the factory who painted the watches were instructed to use their lips

to fashion their brushes to a fine point.

And while their clothes and hair would glow from the radiation exposure, they were all

assured it was safe.

But then, the eventually nicknamed "Radium Girls" started to become gravely ill.

Their teeth fell out, their bones broke, their jaws actually fell apart.

It's really a horrific part to this story that we can't fully get into here. Now, there

are articles online and a few books you can check out if you want to know just how much

these women suffered.

And we think you should, but be advised, it is not for the faint of heart.

At first, the miraculous radium wasn't the suspected culprit for all of this.

But, in 1925, a medical examiner made the shocking discovery: the radium that they were

putting on their hair, clothes, skin and lips had been absorbed into the women's bones.

Radium, as it turns out, is easily mistaken for calcium by the human body.

And once it's absorbed, the radium blasts the bones with alpha rays, resulting in bone

damage, cell mutation and cancer.

Some of the workers sued the U.S. Radium Corporation, but their employer fought back, blaming the

women's worsening health conditions on syphilis.

The women settled their case out of court, receiving a lifetime annuity and medical benefits.

Within a decade, they had all died.

But the Radium Girls story continued after their court case.

The ruling set the precedent that workers could sue employers based on damages for on-the-job

abuse.

And their story led to further investigation into the adverse effects of radiation.

Today we use radiation in a lot of different ways, from x-rays to treating cancer.

We better understand radiation and its risks, and there are several laws in place to protect

us from the dangers of radiation.

Unfortunately, it took a tragic event for someone to stop and take a look at the possible

dangerous effects of radioactive material on the human body.

Want to know more about medical history?

Well check out this video I did about what it was like to get the very first vaccine.

Making New Changes In My Life - Duration: 6:37.

(marker scratching)

(electronic video game chime)

Hello there.

Let's talk about lifestyle changes.

Ch- ch- ch- changes.

I'm not gonna sing that song for you.

I'm not.

First, I got a haircut.

And normally what happens when I get haircuts

is during the style, depending on who I go to,

they make it straight.

I used to be a very big fan of straight hair

and now I don't really care for it.

But I forgot to say I wanted curls.

So she just kinda did her own thing,

which is fine.

Because the photo shoot I had set up

for today didn't work out.

It's been scheduled, rescheduled until tomorrow.

So now I can have my hair the way

I had it planned in my head, sort of.

My hair doesn't work out the way that I want it to.

And now there is too much hairspray on these bangs!

Ow! That's my fault, I put that there.

So yeah, that's my hair.

I went to a brand new hair salon.

Well, it's not a brand new one,

but to me, I've never been there before.

And they're so deaf friendly, it's amazing!

I put a note, like they have a notes section,

when you request an appointment.

I was like,

"Hi, I'm deaf. I would like written communication.

If you know some ASL, fantastic!"

And I go in there, I go ask to use the bathroom,

come back to the waiting room and there's

a clipboard with a piece of paper

with like a whole note.

The woman at the front desk introduces herself,

asks me if I want coffee or water

and asks if I want to have a notebook.

And I said, "Sure, we can play it."

You know, because sometimes I can understand people,

sometimes I can't, sometimes I can understand something

that they're saying, and then some things none.

And my hairstylist was amazing.

And does the most glorious head massages.

Woo! That was great.

Playlist is this weekend,

and I hope to upload this by Thursday.

I'm behind, I planned to pre-upload like a bunch of,

well not pre-upload, well yes.

I planned to film and do all this stuff,

because I'm going to be gone

for quite some time.

I have Playlist from Friday through Saturday or Sunday

and then I leave on Monday afternoon.

Then I'm going to Chicago and then my friend

is going to pick me up at Chicago,

we're gonna hang out there for a little bit,

and then we're gonna go to her place,

back in Indiana cause she's graduating next week.

So I'm just spending the whole week there.

Because the week after that I'm going

to be hanging out with Apple

for Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

Is that what that stands for?

GAAD. Yes.

If you recall, last year I did a video

for Burger King for that day and now I am...

Now, I'm gonna be hanging out with Apple.

There's a panel happening and stuff.

So that's pretty great.

I got a new gig.

Actually, it's a fourth gig.

It's added on to the other things that I'm doing.

Uh, oh gosh.

I am a contributor to Wisdo.

Which is a website that

you can contribute posts to, you know.

It's supposed to be like, words of wisdom,

although you can also just rant about stuff,

which is what I've been doing.

So I dedicate 10 hours a week to that,

which isn't a lot, in a way.

But then I have my DTV News job, YouTube, Ai-Media...

It's a lot, we're hustling, I like money, I need it.

Right now, it's mobile only, they were desktop friendly

and now they switched to mobile, noble, MOBILE.

They've switched to mobile or mobile, whatever,

for the time being and now they're in the process

of making it desktop friendly again

and having an app so, you know.

So I'll have a link to that, my posts, down below.

And it's more personal than deafpoynters.com.

Deafpoynters.com is supposed to

be more educational, a little

bit more professionally written.

Whereas with Wisdo, I can kind of be like,

I can just write however I want.

Apparently you can swear, apparently you can swear.

But I don't feel comfortable doing that.

But that's how personal you can be on there.

Going to the gym, well I've been going to the gym.

I was kind of going back and forth between

going to the gym and not going to the gym,

and I'll tell you why, I actually changed gyms.

I still have my Planet Fitness membership

because I already paid for the whole year,

because it was a hundred bucks so.

I still have my card but I found a gym

that is one, much closer.

Two, much bigger, and you can actually do more things.

My current, my old gym at Planet Fitness,

was like, a very, it was the size of like,

a quarter of Walmart, it was ridiculous.

So like, if you have like a regular Target

that has a grocery section, but it's

not like a super Target,

like, take that whole grocery section

but like cut in half,

or maybe even into thirds,

and that's how big my Planet Fitness was.

It was awful.

So I got a new gym.

A hell of a lot more machines, a free-weights section,

a section for women and/or people with disabilities,

so that's like it's own little secluded area.

And much better showers, oh it's glorious.

And I've been waking up for the past two days,

I've been waking up at 3:30, just to go at 4,

when it opens because it's quiet,

and I don't have to deal with all the like,

big buff dude gym rats that take over everything,

because that still happens here.

It's just nice, it's quiet.

The sucky thing is that I have to get either no sleep,

or wake up or go to sleep super early.

But I've been going to that gym for last two weeks now,

and it's been great, I love it.

My back hurts, my body hurts, but hopefully,

I can do what I want with my fitness goals

now that I am at a much better gym

with much more options, so that's great.

That's pretty much it.

I'm trying to stop eating junk.

I got addicted to chips and salsa again.

And I know, oh god it was so bad,

So I need to cut down on that.

I'm trying to eat like, not 100% clean

and healthy all the time, but I'm trying

to be more conshus...concious... con...con-cious...conscious about

what goes into my body because...

I don't want to feel like poop,

and I don't want to go buy new clothes again.

That's pretty much it, that's how my life's been going.

Yeah, lots of travel, yes I'm still going

to VidCon.

Oh, at the end of the month I'm going to be going to Toronto,

and spending a summer there.

A lot of stuff, I'm so tired.

My body like, it wants to sleep for like a whole 24 hours.

I'm so sleepy.

What's going on in your life?

Feel free to tell me in the comments,

if anything new and exciting is happening,

how much sleep you're getting,

because if you're getting more sleep than me,

than me, please let me live vicariously through you.

If you wanna follow me on all of my social media,

links to that will be down below.

If you want to support my content,

you can do so by being a patron on Patreon

And I will see you later, bye.

How I film and edit my videos | Riley J. Dennis - Duration: 5:14.

Hey everybody!

So today I wanna go over the whole technical process of how I make my videos, from the

planning process to filming to editing to uploading.

Hopefully, if you have a small YouTube channel or are thinking about starting one, this can

give you a look into one way that you can make videos.

I say one way because I have no idea if my process is the best process or the worst process

or, like, an okay process.

I really don't know how a lot of other YouTubers make their videos.

I basically figured this all out as I went along; I googled things and watched other

people's videos about their equipment and editing process.

So now that I have a pretty good rhythm with what I'm doing, I thought I could contribute

my part to that.

But don't take this is as The Way To YouTube.

I don't know what I'm doing on here.

Does any YouTuber really know what they're doing on here?

Anyway, this video is actually sponsored by SkillShare.

Skillshare is an online learning community for creators with more than 15,000 classes

in design, photo, and more.

Everyone can take a class, try a project, or even teach a class themselves.

Premium membership begins at about $10 a month for unlimited access.

By clicking the link in the description and using the promo code RILEYDENNIS, you can

get a 2-month free trial.

I really like what SkillShare is offering and it's the kind of thing I would've

found really useful a couple years ago when I was getting started on YouTube.

So, making a YouTube video -- I usually start out by writing a script.

Sometimes I film unscripted videos, but then I tend to ramble and say "um" alot, and

I usually don't like those videos as much.

I'm much more of a scripted vlog kind of person.

Then, once I have my script or at least a general idea of what I want to talk about,

I sit down in front of my camera.

So let's talk about equipment.

When I got started on YouTube, I was filming with my phone and using a small lapel mic

that I got from Amazon that plugged into the headphone jack.

I would balance my phone on a bunch of books and stand as far away as I could while my

mic was attached to the phone.

It was a pretty bad setup.

So once I had been doing YouTube for a few months and decided that it was something I really

liked and wanted to continue doing, I bought a Canon T5i off Ebay for like $500 or something.

I know that ain't cheap, and I know it's expensive to YouTube, and I'm sorry.

Most phones are good enough that people won't even know you're filming on a phone, but I

wanted to up my quality, and I could afford it at the time, so I got a DSLR.

Then, last summer, I was a part of the YouTube NextUp program, and they gave us all $2,500

to get new equipment.

So I sold my old T5i and got a Canon 80D, which cost just over $1,000.

I also got a new Sigma 18-35mm lens, and I got a Zoom H1 mic.

I still use all this stuff today.

For my lights, I actually have two box lights and one ring light.

I've seen other people get good results with just one or the other but personally

I always think my lighting looks off if I don't use the box lights and the ring light

at the same time.

I also have a tripod, a ring light stand, a mic stand, and a small Parrot teleprompter.

All of that stuff will be linked in the description in case you want to see any of it.

Most of it I got from B&H because that's where YouTube gave us all a gift card to,

but I also bought a couple of things on Amazon.

You definitely don't need all of that stuff, though.

My YouTube world didn't change significantly after I got all of it, but I am very lucky

and privileged to have gotten that money from YouTube.

The best part is mostly that I can film at night.

Because I used to always film facing a window for good lighting during the day, but I'm

actually much more of a night person -- so being able to turn on my studio lights at

1am and film a video is actually really convenient for me.

The teleprompter also has been a huge help.

I used to memorize one line at a time and say it into the camera like 50 times to make

sure I had a good take.

That took forever.

I would spend about an hour filming a 4-minute video.

Now, with this little $100 teleprompter that screws onto the front of my lens, I can film

a video in like 20 minutes.

It's magical.

I just use my old smartphone with a teleprompter app and a little Bluetooth remote control

to pause and rewind the text when I need to.

That's probably the best thing I've done for my channel was get a teleprompter.

So, once the video is filmed, then it's time to edit.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro for all my videos and occasionally After Effects if I want to

add fancy graphics.

Like, you know my endscreen that plays at the end of every video?

I made that in After Effects.

But to show you how I edit, I thought I could just edit a chunk of this video for you.

I usually get started by going in color correcting my footage, so I just make an adjustment layer

and I can make all the changes on there so that it affects all the footage below it.

I usually boost the shadows and just kinda eyeball it for whatever I think looks good.

Then, if I remembered to pose for a thumbnail, I go in and get some screencaps of the different

poses that I took for the thumbnail.

After that, I start chopping up all the bits where I actually said anything because there's

a lot of silence in between it and times when I misspoke.

And once I have all of that cut up, I just delete all the space in between it, and then

I start stacking them on top of each other with a little bit of overlap in between them

so that there's like never a moment where I'm not talking because if you ever have,

like, a small silence in a vlog in between jumpcuts, it sounds really awkward.

So I just try to have really close jumpcuts, and so I listen to them over and over again

to make sure that they're okay.

So that's how I edit.

Exporting then takes like 30 minutes to an hour depending on the length of my video,

and thanks to my not-so-fast internet, videos usually take over an hour to upload.

Then I add the title, description, tags, put it in the appropriate playlist, add the clickable

endscreen things, and then add the captions.

If it was a scripted video, I just copy-paste the script and then make sure all the captions

are easily readable.

They usually aren't.

YouTube has this habit of fitting like most of a sentence into one section and then just

leaving the last word in its own section afterwards.

It's really annoying.

So eventually I clean all of those up, and then schedule the video.

If it's an unscripted video, I usually spend like 45 minutes to an hour and half just transcribing

the video in YouTube's captioning system.

And that is my process.

I hope that was helpful to you in some way.

Remember that this is just one example of how you can film and edit your videos.

If you're a YouTuber, I'd love to hear about your process because I really don't

know what other YouTubers do.

And remember to use the link in the description to get a 2-month free trial over at SkillShare

using the code RILEYDENNIS.

After going through a few of their tutorials, you could be much better than me at video editing.

Alright, well thank you so much for watching.

I love you all, and I'll see you next time.

What If You're In Love With a Fictional Character? - Duration: 4:13.

Hello my friends! Kaitlyn here! And have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?

Oh my goodness YES!

Ron Weasley was when I was in middle school.

Frodo Baggins was when I was in high school.

Mark Sloane aka McSteamy from Grey's Anatomy when I was college.

And Captain Hook and Damon Salvatore most recently.

Uh, can I add Steve Rogers to that list? Because be still my heart!

(INTRO MUSIC)

So okay...I know this is kind of a SUPER WEIRD video topic, but whenever I make videos about

talking to your crush or asking your crush out, I always get a few comments like this:

"Oh my god, but my crush doesn't exist! He's a fictional character! LOL. Tongue out emoji."

And I'm like, you know what? Me too, man! Me too!

So I wanted to celebrate our fictional crushes today, because why not?

YouTube seems to be going down the drain so I can just do whatever I want.

The first step to dealing with a fictional crush is well...you know that they're fictional, right?

You can't actually date them.

I mean, even if it's a TV show or movie, the character is not the actor themselves?

*scoffs* Of course, I know that Kaitlyn! What do you take me for! A crazy person!

Okay...I was just checking….

Step 2 though, embrace the crush.

Make a pinterest board with pictures of them.

Or decorate your binder with their face (does anybody still do that anymore?)

or your phone background with them.

Or make comics or fanart about them because it's FUN!

The best part about a fictional crush is that they're not real.

They just represent all the things that you love or want.

And they're super fun to squee over with your girlfriends!

And okay, so most of the time, the standards that they set are just a bit unattainable.

Like, he quotes Shakespeare and works out?

Unlikely.

Those boobs with that tiny waist?

Yeah, no.

What's cool is getting to live vicariously through another character on the show

And having a Pinterest board of their face to look back on and reminisce

about your "pirate" phase.

Which brings us to step 3, which is make sure that you don't embrace it so much so that you

try to manipulate a real life person into being more like your fictional crush.

This sounds crazy...but honestly it really does happen.

At least to the point of crushing on a real life person because they kind remind you of your fictional crush.

So I had an intense Elijah Wood in Lord of the Rings obsession in high school.

Like those blue-green eyes! They're so big and beautiful! Oh goodness!

And so I met a guy who actually looked SO MUCH LIKE HIM.

Like the big green eyes and the dark curly hair and just...I was instantly smitten.

He was nothing like Frodo or Elijah Wood.

But he was so physically similar (except whole the Hobbit thing, of course) that I was kind of obsessed with him.

We ended up dating. And it was pretty fun. He was a great kisser. But he also cheated on me.

And was all very on-again-off-again and basically he was NOT the fairytale boyfriend sent from the heavens

despite looking like my dream guy.

So moral of the story is don't date someone just because they look like your fictional crush!

Hey! Hey! No, wait! Wait!

I was dating Parker before Captain Hook was even introduced on Once Upon a Time!

Uh, yeah...sure!

So fictional crushes are FUN!

Don't feel bad for having one.

Like yeah, you can't really have a conversation with them in real life, but you can imagine lots of awesome,

swoon-worthy conversations with them!

Which reminds me, if you've ever wondered why my channel is called "i IMAGINE blank" it's because I've

always been obsessed with imagining things.

Like I live in my head far more than I do in the real world.

Basically I can't fault you for having a crush on a fictional character. Embrace it!

Just don't go crazy and like start dating someone who looks like Harry Potter. K? K.

So what do you guys think? Who's your fictional crush?

Tell me down in the comments! Plus remember to like, favorite, share, and subscribe if

this video made you smile!

See you guys on Tuesday!
