PERIODS: Germany vs. USA - Duration: 9:12.
Wait a second, periods are a natural body process that happen all over the world.
You're telling me that there are actually differences in periods between Germany and the U.S.?
Yep, there are!
Hey everyone! I'm Dana and you're watching Wanted Adventure Living Abroad.
So yes, how periods physically occur in the body is, the same all around the world, including
in Germany and the U.S.
But even so, there are actually a lot of period differences that I've noticed in the two countries.
For one, the language surrounding them is different.
In English, as I've already mentioned several times in this video, they're often called
one's period.
And that's not like the little dot at the end of a sentence, but rather period as in
I guess a period of time.
In German they can also be called Periode -- Die Periode -- but another common way of
referring to periods in German is to simply call it the days, Tage.
As in "ich habe meine Tage."
So literally in English: "I have my days."
I cannot for the life of me remember now in exactly which scenario Mr. German Man first
used this phrasing with me.
Maybe we were getting ready to go on vacation or something, I really don't remember, but he
asked me about my days, and I was totally confused because in English I don't call
my period "my days."
So I was like: what do you mean with my days?
Like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, my birthday?
What are my days?
But now I actually really, really like that phrasing and find myself using it all the
time in English.
In English another common slang term for the period is "your time of the month," or also "your flow."
As in "I've got my flow."
Or also "Aunt Flow." As in "Aunt Flow is coming to town."
I don't really know any German slang terms besides die Tage, so if you know any other
ones or any other English ones I would love to hear them, please let me know down in the
comments, thank you.
But language is not the only difference.
As I mentioned way back in one of my first few videos, which was about toiletries in
Germany and the U.S., there are a few pretty big differences in the feminine hygiene sections
in stores and the products offered.
First of all, the size of the section.
As with a lot of sections in grocery stores or other stores in the U.S., the section with
the tampons, pads and other feminine products is so much bigger than in Germany.
Which, and of course this makes sense, also means that there is a larger selection of
products in the U.S. than in Germany.
In Germany from what I've seen in the different stores there are usually a few different kinds
of pads and tampons and maybe, maybe one brand of menstrual cup.
Of the four stores selling feminine products around my home in Germany, only one of them
sells menstrual cups and they only have one brand.
Whereas in the U.S., at least as far as pads and tampons go, there are so many different kinds.
Sometimes it's actually kind of overwhelming to stand there in the U.S. and you just stare
up and down this huge wall of all different kinds of options.
Just for a little perspective, I went to the website of a "typical American store"
where I used to buy my tampons and also the website of a "typical German store" where
I often shop now, and I searched for tampons.
The American store returned around 90 results on their website, while the German shop had
about 20 on their website.
But Germany is home to one kind of tampon that I have never seen in the U.S.
And that is probiotic tampons, so tampons that are coated in probiotics.
And the U.S. is home to one specific tampon that I've never seen in Germany, and I gotta
say, I'm okay with that, because they are scented tampons.
That's right, scented tampons. No, no thank you.
Putting a little perfume on my neck is enough.
I don't need to put perfume anywhere else, thank you very much. Just the neck.
But I would say the biggest difference in tampons between Germany and the U.S. is that
in the U.S. tampons with applicators seem to be the most common.
There are usually a few boxes of tampons without applicators available in the U.S. too, but
the majority come with applicators in the U.S., whereas in Germany it's actually the
other way around.
The large majority of tampons in Germany don't use an applicator, and finding applicator
tampons in Germany in my experience is hit or miss.
Some stores have them and some stores don't, so while they are available here in Germany,
you might have to go to a couple different stores to find them.
And as far as menstrual cups in the U.S. go, I believe that nowadays many of the places
that carry tampons and pads also carry one or two brands of menstrual cups, but I'm
definitely not totally sure on that, so I'd love to hear down in the comments below from
people in the U.S.: are menstrual cups pretty readily available in stores now?
Another big difference in the two countries is how periods are handled in public restrooms.
Oh, the rolls and rolls of toilet paper that we go through in the U.S., wrapping and wrapping
and wrapping our tampons up in before disposing of them.
Germany has a much better solution, something that I don't think I have ever seen in the U.S…
In Germany there is usually a little container of paper or I think also sometimes plastic
baggies in each toilet stall for you slip your feminine product into before throwing
it out, so no need to waste all that toilet paper. I love it! Such a good idea. So smart.
And lastly, in the U.S. it seems like from the articles I've read recently and some
of the YouTube videos that have come my way recently, that talking about periods
seems to be becoming a sort of more "normal" and just kind of more comfortable thing to do.
I've even heard about parents in the U.S. throwing their daughters period parties, apparently
called moon parties.
I don't know how common this actually is, but I certainly hope that just in general
the topic of periods is becoming a more open and normal thing to talk about, and I would
love for that to be the case around the world, because it is, after all, just a normal part of life.
Whether you're someone who has a period or not, periods are a vital part of the immensely
complex and really impressive cycle of life on this planet.
As someone who has, myself, had some horrible periods, I can attest to the fact that the
period, itself, is not always so beautiful, but the whole process of how the body has
evolved to work in this way is extremely beautiful and impressive.
I mean, this whole process is millions of years of evolution in the making, and so I
just don't think that it's something we should be embarrassed to talk about
or have to whisper about. It's just a part of life.
A very impressive part of life in my opinion.
So my question for you is: How are periods where you live, what have been your experiences
around the world?
And do you feel comfortable talking openly about periods?
Please let me know in the comments below.
Thanks so much for watching.

But language...
But language is not...
But I think that my favorite English schlang term...schlang?

Doctors Fear A Potentially Disease Outbreak In Puerto Rico/Hot news - Duration: 8:56.
you
ralina Puerto Rico Christian Romero sat in near darkness in the stairwell of his
apartment building the glare from his phone illuminated his face as he swiped
through photos of his late brother Romsey I feel like a part of me is
missing Romero 28 told HuffPost he spoke calmly
but his eyes bore the weight of countless sleepless nights he was older
than me by a year and three months we literally grew up together hand by hand
doing the same things going to the same places Romsey Romero died on October 5th
his brother says doctors told the family they suspect he was infected with
leptospirosis an animal born bacterial disease that can be fatal if not
properly treated in time in the four weeks after Hurricane Maria devastated
Puerto Rico leaving the island largely without power and with limited access to
drinking water doctors fear Ramsay's case is hardly
unique on Thursday Puerto Rico's state epidemiologist Carmen de Sena announced
there are 74 suspected leptospirosis cases reported in October the numbers
significantly surpassed its average of 60 reported cases a year for the disease
four of the suspected 74 cases resulted in death the Puerto Rican government
continues to assuage public fears as they await formal confirmation of deaths
related to the disease but doctors told HuffPost the u.s. territory is ripe for
an outbreak of leptospirosis and other endemic diseases on the island if more
aggressive preventive action isn't taken soon the potential for outbreak is
imminent leptospirosis is spread through the urine of infected animals including
rats pigs dogs and horses when a person comes into contact with water mud or
soil that has been contaminated by an infected animals urine the bacteria can
enter the body through open abrasions or mucous membranes in the eyes nose and
mouth according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
the current conditions in Puerto Rico are ripe for this type of infection
common symptoms include high fever headache chills fatigue and muscle aches
said clinical epidemiologist David capo who previously worked at the CDC's
National Center for Health Statistics and now serves as a consultant at Abarca
health in San Juan leptospirosis is rarely contagious between humans the
disease often mimics many viral infections making it hard to diagnose
Kapoor said it is often underreported or misdiagnosed as den a viral disease
transmitted via mosquitoes but unlike den leptospirosis can be treated early
on by using antibiotics if left untreated in some strains of the disease
patients may hemorrhage in the lungs or experience kidney failure and die Kapoor
said the government isn't responding quickly enough officials need to
communicate the risks of the disease to both patients and doctors on the island
I would say the island is at risk of outbreaks of influenza leptospirosis Dan
Kapoor said the potential for outbreak is imminent the suspicion is so great
that you don't need to wait for lab results a doctor at doctor federico
Drella Hospital in Carolina who spoke the HuffPost says he knows of at least
one death connected to leptospirosis and three current suspected cases being
treated there are cases that despite not being confirmed the suspicion is so
great that you don't need to wait for lab results said dr. Cruz whose name has
been changed because he did not have permission to speak on record there was
a patient a 28 year old man that in less than five days the disease killed him
doctor Cruz who received details of the case from a fellow doctor at the
hospital told HuffPost that the patient had gone to three different hospitals
before arriving a doctor Federico trilha Hospital around 13 miles east of San
Juan at each hospital he had been discharged with a virus diagnosis no
doctor had considered leptospirosis by the time the
patient arrived at dr. Cruz's Hospital he was experiencing organ failure
compounding the problem the hospital had no functioning intensive care unit due
to a lack of electricity despite the administering of antibiotics
and an attempted transfer to a hospital with a working intensive care unit in
San Juan it was too late in less than four hours of having been in our
hospital with suspected leptospirosis he died dr. Cruz said once it's too late
I'll be blunt the patient will die officials in the government say they are
working to prevent outbreaks Puerto Rican governor Ricardo Rosello told
HuffPost the deaths that are suspected to be linked to leptospirosis are
pending confirmation from the CDC when asked if the health system on the island
currently had the infrastructure to deal with a possible outbreak of any disease
Rosello admitted that the hospital system is
very frail with only 20 hospitals running on the electric grid and the
rest running only partially on generators as far as preventive measures
for outbreaks Rosello assured HuffPost that his government was doing an
aggressive campaign with flyers but dr. Cruz says he hasn't heard of any
campaigns and he feels the government should not be waiting for CDC
confirmation of leptospirosis deaths before alerting communities of the risks
we have all of the elements for that bacteria to grow and spread and with
preventative antibiotics we can save lives dr cruz added because once it's
too late I'll be blunt the patient will die regardless of what we do and it's up
to a 70% mortality rate if the infection reaches the lungs we never imagined that
he would die as the coqui frogs began to sing in the background
Christiane Romero described the circumstances of his brother's death
Romero suspects his brother contracted the disease when he washed his clothes
in a nearby river without running water or electricity there was nowhere else to
Romsey was always a strong man an athlete a baseball player said Romero
who works as counselor for patients who suffer from substance abuse he was a
regular person that felt sick and looked like he had a virus
everybody recovers from that one or two days passed by and you get back to
normal at the health center the doctors told Romero and his family what
leptospirosis was that it was very dangerous
he added that's why we took him to the hospital we never imagined that he would
die Romero said his brother who lived in Guaynabo lost 15 pounds in the days that
the disease progressed something that was devastating for his family to
witness after having known him as a fit and healthy man
he also said he hoped his brother who was the father to a seven year old girl
will be remembered for how much he loved to help people the days after the
hurricane he would help his neighbors clean their water cisterns Romero said I
remember him checking on people whose homes were flooded
unclogging culverts so that people would be okay before his death
one of Ramsey's goals had been to join the US Army Romero said the decision was
motivated by the economic situation in Puerto Rico and because he wanted to
contribute to his country Romero has had very little time to mourn his brother he
and his family are still living with the aftermath of the hurricane just like the
millions of other Puerto Ricans on the island the same can be happening to
other people who can be getting infected with this or another bacteria he said we
listen in the radio all the time about problems with the gas about lack of food
about problems with the water it is a lot of information that generates a lot
of uncertainty we fear for our health for our lives

Home Remedies for Chikungunya - Chikungunya Treatment | Chikungunya - Duration: 4:32.
Home Remedies for Chikungunya, Chickengunya Treatment.
Chikungunya is spreading like an epidemic, with more and more cases being reported with
each passing day. It is prevalent in Asia, Africa and the Indian subcontinent, according
to the World Health Organization (WHO). However, it is becoming a more pressing concern in
Florida and other southern states as well. Here are the some home remedies for chikungunya.
1. Cold Compresses Using cold compresses is one of the best ways
to reduce inflammation and joint pain due to chikungunya. A cold compress offers a numbing
effect on the nerve endings and slows down blood flow to the area, which in turn aid
in reducing pain and swelling. Method for using ice
1.Take a handful of ice cubes and crush them a little.
2.Wrap them up in a hand towel. 3.Hold the compress over the painful area
for 3 to 5 minutes. 4.Repeat a few times during the day as needed.
Note: Do not apply ice directly on your skin. It could cause tissue damage
2. Massage Massage is another simple, natural treatment
to deal with joint pain associated with chikungunya. Massage relaxes the muscles as well as reduces
swelling and stiffness in the affected area. Also, it improves blood circulation. For massaging,
you can use any kind of oil, such as olive, coconut, sesame or mustard oil. Method for
message 1.Apply some warm oil of your choice on the
painful area. Using both of your thumbs, gently apply pressure for a few minutes. Repeat a
few times daily until the pain subsides. 2.Another option is to lightly warm up the
oil of your choice and add a pinch of cinnamon powder to it. Mix well and massage the affected
joints gently for a few minutes, several 2 or 3 times a day.
Note: Massage only gently, as added stress could aggravate the condition.
3. Epsom Salt Soak An Epsom salt soak can bring instant relief
from pain. The magnesium sulfate crystals help reduce pain, swelling and inflammation.
Furthermore, the heat of the warm water promotes relaxation and improves blood circulation
in the body.
4. Turmeric Another highly effective home remedy to alleviate
chikungunya symptoms is turmeric. The curcumin in turmeric acts as a powerful antioxidant
and anti-inflammatory agent to help deal with the pain. A 2009 study published in The International
Journal of Biochemistry & Cell Biology highlights the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties
of turmeric. Method for using turmeric 1.Add ½ teaspoon of turmeric to a glass of
hot milk, and mix it well so that no lumps remain. Drink this while it is warm, twice
daily. 2.You can also opt to take curcumin supplements,
after consulting your doctor for the correct dosage.
5. Ginger Ginger contains anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving
properties that can help combat pain and inflammation that one experiences while suffering from
chikungunya. Its potent compounds called gingerols alleviate pain. Plus, ginger improves blood
circulation throughout the body and is an immune-boosting herb. Method for using ginger
1.Drink ginger tea up to 3 times a day. To make the tea, boil 1 or 1½ cups of water,
add 5 or 6 ginger slices to it and let it simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Drink the tea
while it is still warm. 2.Also, you can massage the painful area with
ginger oil a few times daily. 3.You can opt to take 500 to 1,000 mg of ginger
supplements 3 or 4 times daily, but only after consulting your doctor.
6. Garlic Another effective home remedy for chikungunya
is garlic. It is rich is anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants that help
strengthen the immune system to fight off the virus attacking your body. The sulfur and
selenium content in garlic is also beneficial for reducing joint pain. In addition, garlic
alleviates inflammation, while improving circulation. Method for Using Garlic
1.Massage the painful areas with a homemade garlic-infused oil. Fry 2 minced garlic cloves
in 2 tablespoons of sesame oil until the garlic cloves turn black. Remove it from the heat
and let the oil cool down. Massage the affected area with this oil, and leave it on for a
couple of hours before washing it off. Do this twice daily.
2.Plus, include raw or cooked garlic in your diet. You can also consider taking garlic
supplements, but consult your doctor first.

Siekane Pomidory Szatana - C.A.R. (OFFICIAL AUDIO) [Melodic Metal 2017] - Duration: 3:38.
Running down some twisted streets
Not as mad as metal beats
She was a queen on a horse
Now with car it's only worse
Spinning down like carousel
Control and traction went to hell
Gearbox blew up, car's on fire
Burning, burning with desire (obvious Hammerfall reference)
vroom vroom the passion goes
speed is rising, never slows
windshield breaks, corpse inside
no pedestrian shall survive
vroom vroom she's just behind
there's one moral on my mind
"if You want to stay alive never let a woman drive!"
never let a woman drive!
never let a woman drive, oh no!
Turning left and drifting right
Smoke is darker than last night
She was a queen on a horse
Now with car it's only worse
She is driving through the rain
Wrong direction and wrong lane
Move or die, I don't care!
Try to stop me if You dare!
vroom vroom the lights are green
time to go and drive my queen
blow the horn, move these fools
holy shit this machine rules!
vroom vroom the lights are red
cross the street and You're dead
there's no point in going slow
with breaks that broke two months ago!
oh no!
vroom vroom the cops are here
time to turn the seventh gear
beacon's lit, shots are fired
car now driving with flat tires
weeo weeo the siren goes
speed is droping, car now slows
Juliet's mad, drives off road
off the cliff and car explodes!
