Confidence level is high Korea will successfully host the upcoming winter games.

The culture ministry released the results of a poll of one thousand people, aged 15

to 79.

16-point-5 percent said the Olympics will be 'very successful;' nearly 54-percent replied

'successful,' while less than 9-percent were concerned we might not do a good job.

At just over 70 percent, public confidence is at its highest level yet,... and has been

steadily increasing over the previous four polls.

In terms of athletic performance, 71-percent said that Team Korea will be able to reach

its goal of 4th place, with 8 gold medals, 4 silver and 8 bronze.

Korea getting ready to greet guests for PyeongChang 2018 - Duration: 4:05.

With 2018's biggest event for Korea less than a month and a half away.

Preparations to welcome guests from across the globe shift into high gear.

These efforts are ongoing not just in select areas but covers the nation's main gateway

and the Olympic venues.

Our Cha Sang-mi takes us to these spots.

Incheon International Airport -- the gateway to Korea -- is busy preparing to host guests

from around the world during the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

The PyeongChang 2018 mascots Soohorang and Bandabi welcome visitors with traditional

Korean performances.

(ENGLISH) "I think it's really exciting.

I am excited for the people who get to come here for the Olympics."

(ENGLISH) "Is gonna be a lot more people coming to Korea

and it's gonna be a lot more fun and parties and events.

It's gonna be great, I think, yeah "

The airport is only the starting point.

Welcome pillars have been set up at road junctions along the way to the Olympic venues.

The snow-capped pillars serve as a lighthouse for those going to the Games.

(KOREAN) 1 "I am so excited we are hosting the Winter

Olympics, and I feel honored I that could take a small part in the Olympic preparations."

(KOREAN) 2 "We are installing various sculptures like

the welcome pillars along five different highways and at two train stations that lead to the

Olympic venues.

We are also instructing business owners with the so-called 'Good manner exercise'."

While PyeongChang County is busy making sure it leaves a good first impression, a webtoon

contest exhibition took place in Gangneung.

Webtoon illustrators and cartoonists displayed the best of their talents with works related

to the upcoming Games.

Some wanted to show their passion for the upcoming Olympics through their artistic skills.

(KOREAN) 1 "I drew the painting while thinking about

the athletes who overcame their difficulties to prepare for the Games.

I wanted to encourage the athletes."

And some wanted to please visitors to the Games with the small gift of their portraits.

(KOREAN) 3 "I am happy to participate in the Olympics

preparations with my talent."

And if you see this poster with beoseon, some traditional Korean socks, on buildings in

Gangneung, feel free to drop in.

Gangneung city has created a cultural exchange to make foreign guests feel more at home through

the so-called "Welcome Shop".

As the name suggests, some 2-hundred businesses, such as cafes, restaurants and mobile phone

dealerships offer free wifi, drinking water and restrooms for Gangneung's Olympic guests.

And among them, there are shops where visitors have the chance to experience K-beauty and

Korean aesthetic culture.

In this welcome shop, as an additional service, makeup artists apply Korean make-up to visitors

free of charge.

(KOREAN) 2 "I am so glad I can contribute my talent as

a make-up artist and be part of the Olympics.

I will be happy to present K-beauty to foreign visitors."

Another Gangneung resident, an owner of a 25-year-old barber shop, says it is an honor

for him that his hometown is hosting such a big sporting event.

(KOREAN) 3 "I would love to welcome guests from all over

the world for the Olympics.

I will make sure you get the best haircut when you visit."

Residents and business owners at the Olympic host locations are looking forward to seeing

their towns bustling with visitors from around the world.

(Stand-up) "From Incheon Airport to shops and facilities

in PyeongChang and Gangneung, visitors can not only enjoy the Olympic atmosphere, but

also experience the best of Korean culture.

Energy ministry releases plans to increase solar, wind power plants - Duration: 2:18.

The Korean government is set to invest over a hundred billion dollars in renewable energy.

According to our Kim Ji-yeon it's all part of efforts to increase reliance on solar and

wind,... to help phase out coal and nuclear power.

At a meeting held Wednesday, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy unveiled plans

to increase renewable energy plants that utilize solar and wind power.

The ministry says it'll inject more than 100 billion U.S. dollars into renewable energy

between now and 2030 and increase the number of renewable energy power plants to produce

48-point-7 gigawatts of electricity, equivalent to around 35 nuclear power plants.

It aims to increase the proportion of electricity generated by renewable energy sources from

last year's seven-percent to 20-percent by 2030.

(Korean ed: steve) "Public awareness about safety and the need

for renewable energy sources has increased after witnessing Japan's Fukushima nuclear

disaster in 2011 and experiencing earthquakes in Gyeongju and Pohang in recent years."

The ministry says it'll relax agriculture laws to allow the installation of solar panels

along coastlines and reservoirs... as well as on the roofs of military facilities,...

and it will strengthen laws to expand zero-energy construction until it becomes mandatory for

all buildings by 2030.

It says it'll encourage the general public to utilize solar panels for household use...

by enabling the state-run Korea Electric Power Corporation to purchase their leftover electricity.

(Korean ed: steve) "The recent plan is an improvement on previous

governments' renewable energy policies in that it has considered environmental groups'

demands,... including policies to offer twenty-year contracts to renewable energy producers.

The policy reduces the burden on producers that generate electricity through renewable

energy sources, which cost double that of nuclear or coal-fired power plants."

The ministry says there will be minimal increases in electricity bills during the transition

process.

It expects electricity bills to increase by one-point-three-percent in 2022... and expects

a near 11-percent increase by 2030.

Military authorities of S. Korea, U.S. discussing possible delay of joint drills - Duration: 2:30.

Moon's gesture to the North is raising expectations next year's winter olympics could bring forth

a positive change in inter-Korean ties.

But will the drills be postponed,... and will Pyongyang respond?

Oh Jung-hee helps us gauge the possibilities.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in reached out his hand to North Korea.

If the North halts its provocations until after the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics,...

then South Korea and the U.S. could consider postponing their joint exercises next spring.

The two countries' military authorities are discussing the matter... and their Combined

Forces Command said Wednesday... that it's committed to South Korea's decision on the

exercises.

But of course, this is to happen only if the North halts its provocations.

The Presidential Office of Cheong Wa Dae says... if Pyongyang carries out additional provocations,...

then that could worsen the international sentiment toward the regime and lead to additional UN

resolutions.

And that's why this proposal becomes a strong message to the North... that additional provocations

shouldn't take place.

(Korean) (3:13~4:01 + 6:00~6:44) "I believe the South Korean government is

trying to take the initiative... to reduce tensions and concerns of a possible war through

the Olympics.

The delay of the joint drills just applies for the duration of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter

Olympics... but if this becomes a good opportunity to open up communications between the North

and the U.S., then maybe we could see more dialogue."

But whether North Korea will show a positive response, or any response at all, to this

proposal is another question... and experts' views vary.

Some say the government can't expect a response from North Korea,... so it's still uncertain

whether the drills will be postponed.

But this expert sees a response from the North as a possibility.

(Korean) (1:04~1:20 + 2:02~2:22) "Pyongyang has declared it has completed its

nuclear development, so there's a low possibility that it will carry out nuclear or missile

tests in the near future.

As Pyongyang is feeling the need for dialogue, it may even announce its participation in

the Games.

It's getting tired of economic sanctions and military pressure."

What's currently under review is only the delay of the drills,... not the downsizing.

And the government left it as 'uncertain' whether the drills could be further postponed,...

even after the Winter Olympics are held peacefully.

Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News.

President Moon suggests postponing S. Korea-U.S. joint military exercises ahead of Olympics - Duration: 2:35.

President Moon Jae-in proposed Seoul and Washington hold their regular joint military drills at

a later date, after the Winter Olympics.

A move meant to be an olive branch to North Korea, hoping the regime will participate

in the Games.

Hwang Hojun starts us off It depends entirely on how North Korea behaves,

according to the South Korean President,... but,....

(KOREAN) "It is possible for South Korea and the U.S.

to review the possibility of postponing the exercises.

I have made such a suggestion to Washington, and officials there are currently reviewing

it."

( . )

President Moon said such a move is to reduce tensions on the Korean Peninsula ahead of

the upcoming 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics,... as well as to encourage North Korea to attend

the Games, which will help in creating a conducive atmosphere toward inter-Korean... and U.S.-North

Korean dialogue.

These comments were made during an exclusive interview with U.S. broadcaster NBC News on

Tuesday.

While the President had previously mentioned potentially reducing the size of the joint

exercises in order to bring Pyongyang to the table for dialogue, this is the first time

he actually opened up about asking Washington to consider the possibility.

According to a high ranking Blue House official on Wednesday morning, that such proposal was

inevitable for making the upcoming games safe, and the postponement of the military exercises

would only be limited to the duration of the Winter Olympics.

He also added it's absolutely critical for North Korea to completely halt its military

provocations over the next couple of months,... warning that otherwise the plan to postpone

the exercises would likely get anulled.

The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics will be held from February 9th to the 25th, and

the Paralympics will be held from March 9th to the 18th,... which may overlap with the

biggest of the joint exercises that are held each spring, known as Key Resolve and Foal

Eagle,...which involve more than 300-thousand U.S. and South Korean soldiers.

On matters regarding safety, President Moon said that Seoul is closely coordinating with

the U.S. in operating a cyber response team to deter any cyber threats from Pyongyang.

(STANDUP) "However, President Moon emphasized he doesn't

believe the regime will try to disrupt the Olympics, and guaranteed the safety of those

taking part in the games.

He was even optimistic on the idea of North Korea eventually showing up at the quadrennial

event at the very last minute,... which according to the President is quote "as they always

do."

Top U.S. officials again raising pressure on North Korea - Duration: 2:20.

While tensions between the Washington and Pyongyang died down significantly, the fundamental

problem still exists.

Authorities in Washington are putting the squeeze on the regime to return to dialogue,

emphasizing it won't recognize North Korea as a nuclear power.

Lee Ji-won has the full story.

Top U.S. officials are once again raising the pressure on North Korea.

Speaking in Ottawa Tuesday after a meeting with Canadian foreign minister Chrystia Freeland,...

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said talks with North Korea will not be possible

unless the regime shows it's *ready to talk.

He said the U.S. is waiting for a sign of that, and that the pressure campaign will

continue until the regime is willing to give up its nuclear weapons and allow for verification.

(English) "The White House supports diplomatic talks.

The observation that's being made-- and I would agree with the observation -- is we're

waiting on North Korea to come to that conclusion.

And until they do, the pressure campaign will only intensify."

Tillerson added that the international community seeks to send Pyongyang a unified message

that it will not accept North Korea as a nuclear weapons state -- and that it shares one goal

-- the complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

And as part of the effort, the two diplomats agreed to co-host a meeting of foreign ministers

in Vancouver next month.

White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster also added on to the pressure in

an interview Tuesday with the BBC.

He said that the U.S. has to "be prepared, if necessary, to compel the denuclearization

of North Korea" even without their cooperation.

Though the U.S. wants the resolution to be peaceful,... McMaster echoed President Donald

Trump, saying that all options are on the table.

McMaster also made the case for a denuclearized Korean peninsula in an interview with CBS

on Tuesday, saying that the U.S. cannot tolerate the risk of coexisting with a nuclear Pyongyang.

He said there's no time to repeat the failed pattern of the past -- that now is not the

time to talk... and that Washington will continue its policy of putting military, economic,

and diplomatic pressure on the regime.

Neither South Korean nor Japanese leaders commit to visit with 'comfort women' deal ... - Duration: 2:21.

There are no plans for President Moon Jae-in to drop by Japan before the PyeongChang Winter

Olympics.

Tokyo refused to confirm whether the global games will get a visit from Prime Minister

Shinzo Abe.

The main reason for their stance: the ongoing review of a landmark deal on Japan's sexual

enslavement of Korean women.

Kwon Jang-ho explains.

Seoul's foreign minister, Kang Kyung-wha, confirmed that so far there are no plans for

President Moon to visit Japan before the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, which start in

two months time.

Wrapping up her own two-day trip to Tokyo, Kang told reporters on Wednesday that although

it could be considered, there has been no such talk within the administration, and in

fact the President is prioritising a trilateral meeting with China and Japan first.

She stressed that although it's better for President Moon to visit Tokyo sooner rather

than later, he has to consider the other things in his schedule.

Meanwhile, Tokyo has also refused to confirm whether Prime Minister Shinzo Abe would be

coming to PyeongChang next February.

President Moon invited Abe during a call in November, and Foreign Minister Kang extended

that invitation when she met the Prime Minister on Tuesday, but on both occasions Tokyo has

said the invitation is being considered.

What both parties seem to be waiting for is the results of a review on the landmark agreement

that was reached between Seoul and Tokyo two years ago on the issue of Japan's sexual enslavement

of Korean women during World War II.

The December 2015 agreement was meant to draw a line under the issue, but after criticism

from members of the public and the surviving victims themselves, the Moon administration

launched a task force in July to review the deal.

Those results come out on December 27th, and are expected to contain strong criticism on

how the agreement was reached.

Such a review is not likely to go down well in Tokyo, which has repeatedly said the deal

is final and that Seoul should carry out its terms.

However, Kang is said to have informed Tokyo that the results of the review would be separate

from the administration's policy on the issue, and that further input from the victims, scholars

and civic groups would be considered before a final stance is taken.

She also revealed that Seoul will inform Tokyo of the results of the review before they are

announced next week, as a matter of, quote, 'diplomatic courtesy'.

Whether this will be enough to appease Japan and avoid a break down in the relationship

remains to be seen.

Day 7 Demons | The 12 Mobs of DnD-mas - Duration: 5:28.

Welcome DnD enthusiasts to the 12 days of DnD-mas!

I'm your host Jorphdan the PH is silent.

For the next 12 days we're going to be looking at classic dungeons and dragons monsters,

their origins, their behaviors, and anything else I find interesting.

as it really helps out the channel!

On the seventh day of Christmas my DM gave to me "7 demons laughing"

Demons, the chaotic fiends of the Abyss.

Demons are chaotic evil or neutral evil creatures.

They mostly live in the infinite layers of the Abyss.

In 4th edition lore the Abyss was created when a shard of evil was taken and planted

in the elemental chaos causing it to shift and change.

Like a evil wound it festered into the Abyss.

The Demons sprung from this evil as well, or were elemental creatures changed by the

evil of the Abyss.

Many of the demon lords are thought to be powerful primordials that were living in the

elemental chaos, changed by the Abyss and the Shard of evil.

No one knows exactly how or why the first demons took form.

Sages believe that the fusion of the shard of evil and the physical instability inherent

in the Elemental Chaos were the catalyst that spawned demonkind.

There are some demons that are older than this story and created the shard of evil.

These creatures are known as Obyriths.

They are a vile race that one presided over the remains of a dying universe.

They created the shard of evil to push through a fissure between realities, to enter into

the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

Using the shard they hoped to corrupt everything but only ended up creating the Abyss.

Demons and devils hate one another.

Devils were originally assigned the task of pushing back the demon threat, but became

corrupted by the demons and changed into Devils.

Despite this change the two still don't get along and demons and devils destroyed

one another on the battlefield.

This is known as the Blood War and it is ever raging, although settled down a bit in 4th

edition thanks to Asmodeus becoming a deity.

Demons want to spread chaos and destruction.

They love the prime material plane because it's a new place to spread chaos and destruction.

Demons are creatures of rage and raw physicality.

The anatomy of demons mocks that of other forms of life.

They might look like a giant insect, or a terrible beast.

They might have the head of one animal but the body of a man.

Demons rarely sleep unless compelled to do so by magic, poison, or other external influences.

They breathe and eat but don't appear to need to do so.

Demons have such strong lungs it is unknown if they breathe or merely hold their breath

for an indefinite amount of time.

In Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss they actually dissect a Demon to figure out how

it works.

Demons when they die on any other plane than the Abyss turn into a bubbling pile of black

goo as their bodies return to the Abyss to form a new demon.

If a demon is killed while within the Abyss it is permanently destroyed, both its body

and its essence.

So it's very difficult to capture a demon and examine its body.

Through some crazy magic a character was able to hold a demon Dretch's body on the Prime

Material plane to dissect it.

They discovered that the dretch has muscles and tendons, bone and claws much like other

creatures.

But no digestive track.

Demons will eat and eat but where the food goes is unknown.

Some think it must be magically taken to the Abyss.

Their abdomens appear to be filled with swirling, noxious black liquid.

Some demons, not all, do have sexual organs and it is possible that they can create half

demon children with creatures of Faerun.

Although this seems more common with devils, hence the tiefling race, than demons; it has

occurred in the past.

Demons like devils can also have a true name.

If you learn that true name you have power over that demon and can summon and control

them from across the planes.

Fifth edition DnD has some spells to summon demons, found in Xanathar's Guide to Everything.

They require blood from a humanoid killed within the past 24 hours as a component.

The demon will fight for you but at the end of it's turns it makes a charisma saving

throw to break away from your control.

Knowing the true name of the demon the creature's check is made with disadvantage.

I think it fits a demons chaotic nature to be difficult to control like this.

We already spoke about two demon lords Juiblex and Yeenoghu but there are plenty within the

Abyss each controlling a specific layer.

There is said to be 666 yet possibly infinite layers of the Abyss so the number of Demon

Lords might be much larger than what is known.

Some of the more popular ones are Baphomet, Graz'zt, Orcus, Pazuzu, and Zuggtmoy.

Probably the most well known thanks to the adventure Out of the Abyss (he's on the

cover) is Demogorgon.

Also known as the Prince of Demons, Demogorgon is eighteen feet high with snake like tails

for arms and the body of a great ape.

Two baboon heads sit atop his lumbering shoulders.

His lower torso is some type of great reptile with a scaly skin.

Each of Demogorgon's heads has its own personality and they do not get along.

The two war with one another adding to the chaos and insanity that is Demogorgon.

He is in eternal conflict and war with Ocrus and Graz'zt.

Their armies have clashed throughout the Abyss since the beginning.

According to 4th edition lore Demogorgon was a primordial that felt the pull of the Shard

of Evil; and upon coming to the Abyss was changed into the monstrosity we know today.

If you want to know more about the demon lords check out my video on Demons of the Abyss,

I'll leave a link in the doobly do.

There are loads of cults that worship demon lords.

Entire adventurers can be built around a cult of Orcus, some wacky warlock trying to raise

an army of the dead to reign destruction down upon the material plane.

That's it for today, thanks for watching everyone.

Please hit that like button and I'll see you all in the next video!
