Moto X4 vs Moto G5S Plus Camera Comparison - Duration: 6:48.

Hey guys it's Sagar from Tecworkz.

In this video we put the dual cameras of the Moto G5S Plus, up against those of the Moto

X4.

After uploading the camera review of the Moto X4, I knew, this is going to be the next video,

that you guys would be waiting for.

We have got a different set of dual cameras on the Moto X4, then what we see on the Moto

G5S Plus.

But before we get to their specifications, make sure to hit the subscribe button, so

you don't miss out on any of the amazing videos, coming up on this channel.

On the Moto X4, we now have one 12 megapixel camera with F/2.0 aperture, and this one has

a normal field of view.

The second camera, has a 8 megapixel sensor, and an ultra wide angle lens with 120 degree

field of view.

Whereas on the Moto G5S Plus, Both rear cameras, sport 13 megapixel sensors with f/2.0 aperture.

One of these cameras captures normal coloured images, while the other one captures monochrome

or black and white images.

Both these smartphones, can shoot 4K videos at 30fps, and lack Optical Image Stabilisation.

At the front, you get a 16 megapixel camera with F/2.0 aperture on the Moto X4.

While the G5S Plus has a 8 Megapixel camera with F/2.0 aperture.

Both the phones have, dedicated front facing flash, to help you take better selfies in

lower light.

Cameras on both these phones, stick out of the back, but I really like the way, cameras

modules on these devices look.

It is like they have a personality of their own.

Interface of the camera app, is mostly similar on both the phones, except the addition of

a new onscreen button on the Moto X4, to switch to the ultra wide lens.

There are also 2 additional modes on the X4, Spot colour mode and face filters, which are

not present on the G5S Plus.

I reviewed the camera of the Moto G5S Plus, when it was launched, and back then, it took

a long time to process the portrait mode images.

Moto has pushed multiple updates to the camera app since then, and the time required to process

those images, has been reduced significantly.

Alright, now lets check out the images and videos from both these devices.

You pick almost any smartphone launched this year, and it can take good images in ample

lighting conditions, and these two are no exceptions.

They capture good colours and sharp images.

There are a tad bit more details in the images from the Moto X4.

The weather has been very cloudy for the past few days, and it is good to see both the phones

capturing accurate white balance, in these conditions.

There are very little difference in these images, but something which can easily be

noticed, is that the X4 captures richer colours and better contrast of the two.

You also have the secondary ultra wide lens on the X4, which lets you capture images like

these.

This second lens is not as sharp or detailed as the main shooter, but the images are still

good to look at.

You might not use this lens every time, but its good to know, that you have that option

if you ever need it.

Auto HDR mode on the Moto G5S Plus is more aggressive of the two, but both end up saving

a lot of details, in the shadows, and bring down the highlights as well.

Again in all of these shots, the X4 captures better details.

But that is only noticed, when you zoom in on a particular part of these images.

To the naked eye, these images look equally good, on the screens of both these smartphones.

Both have a similar aperture, so there is not a lot of difference in the close up images

either.

The subject is in focus, images are sharp, colours are good and the background is blurred

out very nicely.

Neither are perfect at taking portrait shots, but the X4 does slightly better, at keeping

the subject in sharp focus.

It also takes better low light portrait shots of the two.

There is a spot colour mode on the Moto X4, which allows you to tap on a particular colour,

and turn all other colours in the image to black and white.

There is a clear difference in the images, when we get to lower lighting situations.

X4 again shows better or richer colours of the two, and its images are again sharper

in comparison.

Some of the images from the G5S Plus are brighter, but they have much more noise, and lot less

detail in them.

The 16 megapixel front facing camera on the Moto X4 captures sharper images of the two,

and it also captures slightly better colours.

I have been saying that the Moto X4 captures better colours.

One of the reasons for that, could also be better image processing of the snapdragon

630 processor, vs that of the snapdragon 625 found on the Moto G5S Plus.

Both the phones can capture 4k videos at 30fps, and don't offer any optical stabilisation.

1080p 30fps videos are electronically stabilised, and I actually prefer the stabilised video

from the G5S Plus.

X4 has a slight advantage, as you can shoot videos with either of the two lenses, which

you cant do with the Moto G5S Plus.

Moto can easily make the stabilisation on the X4 better, with a software update, and

I really hope they do that soon.

So the overall camera performance of the Moto X4 is better than that of the Moto G5S Plus.

It captures better colours, handles the details, sharpness and contrast better, low light images

are also sharper, and the wide angle lens gives you a different perspective of the scene.

That being said, the images from the G5S Plus are not bad at all.

It is one of the best camera on a smartphone, at its price range.

If you are looking to choose between these two phones, I would suggest you to go with

the Moto X4.

You need to spend extra 7000Rs to get the X4, with same amount of RAM and Storage capacity

as the G5S Plus, here in India.

But for that extra money, you are not only getting improved set of cameras, but also

a better overall design with IP68 water resistance, upgraded internals and an even better day

to day performance.

But if you don't want to spend that extra money, you can go with the G5S Plus, as it

still offers a lot of value for the amount, that you pay for it.
