The Criminal Quality Of Trumps Regulatory Appointments - Duration: 7:31.
The government agency known as the CFPB, created to protect you from predatory loans now has
its new director, Mick Mulvaney, who was appointed by Trump.
But in a twist of events, it turns out that the lawyer who wrote the memo supporting Mulvaney,
supporting that appointment, represented a predatory foreign financial company with substantial
history of very sketchy debt collection routines.
Joining me to talk about that is RT American correspondent Brigida Santos.
Brigida, who is the lawyer and what's the story behind it?
This is a guy, he went out of his way to convince Trump that Mulvaney was the pick and now we're
learning there's a pretty sketchy background to this lawyer who was making that recommendation.
What's your take?
Mike, this lawyer is Steven Engel, who from 2015 up until about this August was a lead
counsel for NDG Financial Corp, and this is the company that is being sued by the Consumer
Financial Protection Bureau for allegedly scamming consumers out of money that they
never owed for about 10 years.
Now the reason this is a conflict of interest is because Engel wrote that letter supporting
Mick Mulvaney as the new acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau,
because Mick Mulvaney has been very clear in his disdain for this financial bureau to
protect consumers.
He's said that it's a very sick, sad agency and that it's the worst type of government
agency.
So of course, Steven Engel is going to support Mick Mulvaney, who could potentially go very
easy on NDG Financial Corp.
There's also another financial sort of conflict of interest here, and that's that Mick Mulvaney
is also the director of The Office of Management and Budget, which is a political job at the
White House.
Now critics argue that Mulvaney is supposed to remain independent of the White House if
he's going to be overseeing the Consumer Financial Protections Bureau, and that's because this
bureau was created after the 2008 financial crisis in order to protect consumers, and
it's supposed to be independent for that very reason.
Now this bureau has collected over $12 billion for about 29 million consumers who have been
wronged by these predatory financial institutions, Mike.
Brigida, the truth is, conflict of interest is the least of the problem that this administration
has had.
The appointments they've made, whether it's the FDC, the SEC, the CFPB, the EPA.
They're horrendous.
It's almost like saying, "Let's go find somebody who stands for just the opposite of what that
agency's going to do, or should be doing, which is protecting the public.
Let's find that person who hates having the public really get a fair shake and let's appoint
them."
I mean, it's been time after time.
How could the federal judge who approved Mulvaney's appointment argue that he's fit to run the
agency, especially considering Engel's involvement in supporting it?
And furthermore, why is this so quiet?
Why are we not hearing anything about this from Washington?
Moreover, how about the media that seems dead set on talking about one issue all the time,
24/7?
They've got one issue in their head.
They're ignoring everything else.
Why are we seeing so little about this?
The judge who cleared this says that the Federal Vacancies Reform Act does allow the President
to appoint somebody to this position despite the Dodd Frank Act succession rules that would
place the current Deputy Director, Leandra English, in this position rather than Mick
Mulvaney.
But unfortunately, a loophole was left in the Dodd Frank Act that would allow for this
very thing to happen.
The President's choice can completely destroy the agency.
Again, Mick Mulvaney has made it very clear that he wants to do that.
This is a way to get deregulation without actually passing any deregulation reforms.
And we don't hear a lot about it because, again, a lot of media is controlled by Wall
Street.
These laws really put Wall Street's interests over the interests of consumers and the public,
Mike.
Brigida, I'm curious to know about the case that the CFPB made against the payday lender
Engel represented.
What does the complaint allege the company did to the American consumer?
Why was the case brought?
How serious was it?
How did we get into this huge, major conflict to begin with?
NDG originates and collects payday loans online in all 50 states.
It is a foreign company from Canada.
It also has other companies under its umbrella, which are named in this lawsuit, operating
foreign as well in Malta.
Any company that does loans inside of the US needs to comply with US federal law.
But these companies have used their foreign status to go around these laws, in fact, saying
that these laws do not apply to them, even though they do apply.
So now, the CFPB is suing NDG for its predatory practices, which are a violation of these
Dodd Frank Act rules.
According to these documents, NDG falsely threatened consumers with jail time, arrest,
lawsuits, imprisonment, and even wage garnishment, something that it had no legal authority to
carry out.
And these people never actually owed these payments back to the company in the first
place.
They had no obligation to repay them, so that's what this lawsuit is really all about, Mike.
The incredible thing is, it's almost as if this judge is saying, "Gee.
I don't have any wiggle room here.
Trump made the appointment.
I don't have the right to look at this."
It's almost like the media has brain dead again where it comes to one of these appointments.
One of the accusations against this company in Canada and Malta is that they had no legal
right to charge people in the US to collect payday loans, while at the same time using
their foreign status to claim that they were exempt from various limitations and statutes.
Where does this case stand now?
It's kind of a dichotomy.
They're talking out of both sides of their mouth and I'm curious about where we are now
with it.
It appears as if the case is still moving forward.
No judgment has been ruled yet.
All I can tell you is that CFPB is trying to fight against these type of practices.
They want to end it at the company.
They're seeking damages for the consumers who have been wronged here and they're also
seeking refunds for the people who have paid up this money that they were never supposed
to pay in the first place, Mike.
One thing we see for sure here is, this regulatory agency is dead now, and that's what Trump
intended to do, just like he intended to end the EPA and what the EPA could do.
He couldn't get legislation to do it, so he makes an appointment.
The agency is dead.
The SEC really is dead.
The FDA, I can tell you, I can promise you.
First hand, I see it every day.
They are dead.
The question comes down to: Who is watching the store?
And unfortunately the answer is one that we all know, and that is, nobody.
We thought it was bad the last eight years that we came through.
It's worse.
It's going to be even worse as we proceed through this Trump administration these next
few years.
There's going to be no regulator entities that are looking over the rights of consumers.
Brigida, thank you for joining me.
Thanks Mike.

Child Sex Slave Kills A JOHN: A Victory? - Duration: 4:39.
A Tennessee woman sold for sex as a minor, was tried as an adult after killing one of
the men who bought her.
She was 16 years old when the event happened, and testified in court that she had beaten,
raped and threatened at gunpoint, that that was a regular occurrence in her life.
Joining me now to talk about this is legal journalist for Trial Lawyer magazine, Mollye
Barrows.
Mollye, could any state law try a girl under these circumstances, as an adult?
Apparently the state of Tennessee could and did, and she was sentenced to life in prison
for murder and for aggravated robbery.
The tragedy of this is that the jury didn't even hear a lot of these details that are
now coming out, the fact that she had been abused as a child, the fact that she had run
away at the age of 16, the age she was when she murdered this John.
This abuser, this pimp boyfriend had basically told her this is all she would be good for,
and she had thought that he was a boyfriend.
Well what they're describing is a classic case of how you condition a human trafficking
victim, a sex trafficking victim.
The jury never heard any of that.
Basically prosecutors presented a case of a prostitute who killed a John for his wallet,
and that's all they heard.
Well there's some new defenses that maybe can arise here.
One of them is the right to be able to defend yourself.
Yes.
The right, if you are under a really serious threat, you can defend yourself.
Some of these trafficking laws provide some rights that maybe we didn't have the first
time around.
Exactly.
Who was this guy that paid for her, and how is it that that wasn't a major feature of
this case?
How do you lose a trial with these facts?
I know.
Well they didn't present them, and that's a good question for her defense attorney.
I would like to know a little bit more about that, if she actually had a public defender
or somebody who put in a little time, but she never did take the stand in her own defense.
The jury never did hear any of those details.
The John if you will, was a 43-year-old Nashville realtor.
His name was Johnny Allen.
He picked up Brown in a parking lot, hired her for sex, they get back to his house, she
says he starts acting strangely, she pulls a pistol out of her purse and shoots him in
the head.
She told the jury, or the defense presented the case that she did this in self-defense,
but the prosecutors were saying, "Well, when she left, she took a couple of guns, she took
his pants, which had his wallet in it," so they felt like it was a cut and dried case.
But now that this has come to light, and it's all come to light because of a 2011 documentary
about this girl, and while here she is serving this life in prison sentence for this crime
when they were all these extenuating circumstances.
Well there was still the defense.
There was still a defense available, even without the new trafficking laws.
Right, and she did claim self-defense, but the jury just didn't buy it.
Well she wasn't even put on the stand.
No.
Correct?
She never took the stand.
A self-defense case is pretty tough without saying, "the victim's got to take the stand
and here's what happened."
Where does this case stand now, and what are your calls on where this goes?
I think this is going to continue to gain steam, especially in the light of what we've
got going on now, with all these powerful figures that are coming down with accusations
of sexual harassment, you've got new laws that have been passed.
The supreme court also recently ruled that juveniles should not be sentenced to life
in prison without parole.
There are a number of factors that potentially change the outcome of this case, and provide
for it to be reopened.
There is a petition right now to reopen this case.
A number of celebrities have gotten behind the case of Cyntoia Brown.
She's now 29 years old.
The interesting thing about the supreme court ruling, so advocates for sex trafficking victims
are looking to that thinking that this may give them hope that this girl had been sentenced
to life in prison as a juvenile, however, Tennessee law requires that it can be revisited,
she actually is eligible for parole, but it won't be until she's 69.
Wow.
Okay, so here's one thing you missed, fear for life.
Yes.
A fear for life is the defense, and it certainly is a self-defense, but the trafficking laws
even pump that up just a little bit, to where if you feel like you're being kidnapped, you're
being held, you're being raped, you're being abused, you're being beaten, the story on
this seems to be very consistent.
Yes.
From the time she was initially sold, she was sold as a child.
Correct.
From the time she was sold, her life was about the same all the way up to this event.
That all adds up to the self-defense issue doesn't it?
It does.
In 2004, the United States had not even recognized, federal sex trafficking laws did not even
recognize that American citizens could be sex trafficking victims, so this was just
presented as a black and white issue of a prostitute who robbed a John, and she claims
it was self-defense.
jurors, who do you believe?
Without the back story.
That's what advocates are saying with sex trafficking victims, is it's bringing to light
a bigger issue of the sexual abuse to prison pipeline, where trauma and abuse play a role
like you're talking about with the sex trafficking laws in these crimes.
Exactly.
Mollye, thank you for joining me.

White Collar Thugs Going To Prison Under Sessions: A New Day At Last - Duration: 1:13.
Finally tonight, some good news.
A former general counsel for insurance company WellCare Health Plans is being sentenced to
prison for making false statements in a 35 million dollar fraud scheme against the Medicaid
program.
He'll be joining executives of that company that were also sentenced to prison for cheating
the program that is used to aid the poor.
Prosecutors say WellCare executive Todd Farha, and others, filed false Medicaid expense reports
to Florida's healthcare administration.
They did this by overstating the amount their companies spent on mental health services
for Medicaid patients.
Companies are typically required by law to spend a special percentage of Medicaid money
they receive for mental health services and return what wasn't spent back to the government.
Instead of following the law, WellCare created a new unit to pay mental health providers
but kept tens of millions of dollars of Medicaid financing for themselves.
After eight years of watching white collar criminals never going to prison, maybe this
new DOJ will be willing to change that ugly trend that's killing democracy, where we don't
prosecute billionaires.
We'll see.

Abandoned Railroad Reclaimed by Nature - Duration: 3:22.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, RailROL82 here. We've got another
abandoned railroad crossing as you can see
I still got some more of these
from the last time on me
okay so I'm going to include a google maps link to my location
down in the description
This is where the spur went into
this is the last trace of it then that this goes from here
this is facing East now facing East
No cross bucks, nothing
I think
that rail
now I am facing west and that's where I began filming
originally over there
see how
the sidewalk was built to accommodate the
the railroad this would have been either I don't know if CSX was the last one to use it
or seaboard
incredible huh?
so yeah guys I'm gonna include a Google map link and then I'm going to walk over
here so you guys know what where the last rail goes or the last visible
rail anyways
so this side too, they built the sidewalk to accommodate the railroad
and
zoom in here
yeah
one little clue though that might help us date this back, as you know as we are railroad
archaeologist I noticed that this this light post was installed October 1977 so
if this industrial park was established around 1977 it's safe to say that this
spur was probably put in around that time
all right guys. Please subscribe or like thank you very much for viewing over and out.

3 Pinecone Wreath Ideas | DIY Christmas Decorations | Country Hill Cottage - Duration: 4:15.
Channel some Christmas cheer with 3 pinecone wreath ideas that will bring the festive spirit
to your home!
First up is a classic red and green wreath with natural pinecones and ruby bauble ornaments.
The next wreath is a snowy take on holiday wreaths: frost-tipped pinecones, blue ornaments,
iced boxwood, silver leaves and glittery stars.
For the last design, we studded the wreath with rose gold pinecones, iced silk roses,
and pink and brown ornaments.
The wreaths are beautiful keepsakes, and you can use them for many years to come.
Check the links in the video's description for the written instructions and more holiday
DIYs!
Please subscribe for more tutorials and turn on notifications so you don't miss out our
latest videos.
We built all three Christmas wreaths on a 30 centimetre or 12-inch wire wreath frame.
You can clean and open pinecones, which you have collected from the woods, by baking the
pinecones on a lined baking tray in the oven for 30 minutes to one hour.
We used fresh twigs for some of the wreaths, but you can also switch to artificial plants
instead.
To craft a classic red and green pinecone wreath, apply hot glue to the bottom of the
pinecones and attach to wreath frame.
Hot glue can cause burns, so please be careful when handling the glue gun.
Continue adding pinecones to cover the wire frame but leave a little space in between
the pinecones.
Let the glue dry completely.
Shorten conifer and holly twigs to a length of 5 to 8 centimetres, which is 2 to 3 inches.
Gather three mini wired bauble ornaments and twist into a tight bundle.
Then fill the gaps between the pinecones with twigs and bauble ornaments.
Use the wire frame and pinecones to tuck in the twigs and ornaments.
For a frosty winter pinecone wreath, paint the tips of the pinecones and boxwood twigs
with white acrylic paint and let dry.
You can also sprinkle artificial snow or granulated sugar on the wet paint to create an even icier
look.
Attach the pinecones as explained in the previous step and fill in the wreath with boxwood twigs,
silver leaves, and bauble ornaments.
We finished the wreath by covering any remaining bare spots with mini pinecones and glitter
stars.
To make a romantic rose gold pinecone wreath, spray the pinecones generously with rose gold
metallic spray paint.
Apply white glue to the edges of silk roses and carnations and dip in artificial snow
to make them appear frost-covered.
Allow all materials to dry well.
Then hot glue the pinecones and dusty pink bauble ornaments tightly onto the wreath frame.
Use the frosted flowers to fill in gaps.
Thanks so much for watching and please subscribe for more!

Jurassic World 2 Trailer NEW DINOSAURS, Easter Eggs & Things Missed - Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom - Duration: 6:53.
Jurassic World is back in a huge way with new dinosaurs, Baby Blue and Ian Malcolm himself
in the first full trailer for Fallen Kingdom.
Yippee-ki-yay, movie lovers, it's Jan here, and today I'm breaking down the Jurassic World
2 trailer for easter eggs, things you missed and explaining the new dinosaurs you can look
forward to in the movie!
And if you're new to my channel, I do movie breakdowns, easter eggs, deleted scenes and
movie-making secrets, as well as regular giveaways for all my subscribers.
For my current giveaway, just make sure you're subscribed and leave me a comment on this
video with your thoughts about Fallen Kingdom.
I'll have more details on that plus the winner of my last giveaway later in the video.
The trailer begins with Owen and Claire who are setting up a task force to save the dinosaurs
left on the island from a dormant volcano that's about to explode.
Claire is putting together a new organization called the Dinosaur Protection Group and,
in the trailer, we get a glimpse of some of the group's other key members.
We've got a new young scientist played by Justice Smith, and it's rumoured he's playing
a character inspired by Arby Benton from author Michael Crichton's second Jurassic Park novel.
In another shot, we get a glimpse of Ted Levine's character who seems to be dressed in combat
gear and behind him is Daniella Pineda's character.
We don't yet have names for their characters, but in a picture of Pineda released in a behind-the-scenes
trailer reel, you can see she's got a tattoo which partially reads "Semper Fi", which is
the US Marine Corps motto, meaning she's likely either from the US military or she's a former
marine.
We then get to the island where it's clear that, since the events of Jurassic World,
the theme park is more or less in ruins and dinosaurs are roaming freely.
By the way, the official synopsis states that the sequel is actually set 4 years after the
first Jurassic World movie.
And back from Jurassic World is our favourite raptor Blue who, at the end of that movie,
disappeared into the jungle after helping Rexy defeat the Indominus.
Also in this next shot of Blue reuniting with Owen, there's an abandoned old explorer from
the original Jurassic Park movie in the background.
Earlier in the trailer, there was also an adorable short scene of Owen with Baby Blue.
We don't yet know where this comes in the film, however, I think this might be some
old video of Owen raising baby Blue and imprinting on her, which he talked about doing in Jurassic
World.
And I think this footage might get played if Owen gives testimony at this committee
meeting where we see none other than Ian Malcolm himself!
Now, we did get some Ian Malcolm easter eggs in Jurassic World, but this is the moment
a lot of fans of the franchise have been waiting for and, of course, Jeff Goldblum even gets
to deliver his classic line "life finds a way".
He's in what looks like either a US government senate hearing or a courtroom, and I imagine
he's been called upon as an expert witness, presumably to comment on the events of Jurassic
World or perhaps to advise what to do about the dinosaurs still at large on Isla Nublar.
That seems rather ironic because, in the original movies, when Malcolm tried to tell the public
about what had happened at Jurassic Park, he was discredited by John Hammond's nephew,
made a laughing stock, and his career was ruined.
We don't yet know from the limited lines we hear in the trailer whether Malcolm is for
or against saving the dinos on the island.
Although this is the only scene we've seen of him so far, I'm hoping we see him pop up
at least once again, though he might just have a small role appearing near the start
and the end of the movie, like John Hammond did in The Lost World.
OK, let's get back to the island where we're going to see some of the new dinosaurs and
some more call-backs to the original Jurassic Park.
When we see Claire and her crew hiding behind some tree trunks from a herd of charging dinos,
it's an homage to that memorable scene in the first Jurassic Park movie of Dr Grant
and the children hiding behind a tree trunk to avoid a dinosaur stampede.
And just at this moment we get our first look at the Carnotaurus, a new dinosaur for the
sequel.
The Carnotaurus, which means "meat-eating bull", has two horns above its eyes, and,
fun fact, genetic material from the Carnotaurus was used for the creation of the hybrid Indominus
Rex in the first Jurassic World.
Now, this is one pretty mean-looking dino but just as it seems to be about to take out
Owen and the others, Rexy swoops in and saves the day.
And if you're thinking that there seems to be something familiar about this scene, it's
because it's clearly a tribute to the final scene in Jurassic Park where the T-Rex roars
after saving the adults and kids from the velociraptors.
Another new dinosaur which was only hinted at in Jurassic World, but which we're getting
properly in Fallen Kingdom, is the Baryonyx.
The name refers to the "heavy, large claw" on the dino's first finger, and it was going
to be the original primary antagonist in the third Jurassic Park movie, until it was replaced
by the Spinosaurus.
And it looks like the Baryonyx will make a spectacular appearance during an underground
scene in what is probably a control room for an old power plant on the island.
You can see fire and lava flowing, so it looks like this scene takes place around the time
the volcano begins to erupt.
We know now that Rexy is back for the sequel and, in another shot, we can see she's been
sedated and loaded into a truck.
And although we see what looks like a lot of dinosaurs probably perishing from the volcano
eruption, there are a few shots earlier in the trailer that show what looks like a boat,
loaded with dinosaurs, leaving the island.
Now, if you're concerned you've seen most of the movie's plot, rest assured that these
scenes are actually only from the first half of the movie and are, in a sense, the set-up
for the main plot of the film.
The official synopsis has actually stated that Claire and Owen uncover "a conspiracy
that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times."
Which means, I think, that there's a plot going on to bring these dinosaurs off the
island and to the mainland.
InGen will likely be involved in this together with Henry Wu who we didn't get to see in
this trailer.
Dr Wu was last seen in Jurassic World on an InGen helicopter making off with a bunch of
dinosaur DNA from the park, however, in the Fallen Kingdom behind-the-scenes reel, we
did get a brief glimpse of Wu who's definitely cooking up a new hybrid, the Indo-raptor,
which I expect we'll see later in the film.
By the way, all the footage released so far suggests we're getting a much bigger push
for animatronic dinosaurs in Fallen Kingdom.
Practical effects were a big part of the original Jurassic Park movie, whereas the first Jurassic
World movie only used animatronics in a single scene with a dying Apatosaurus.
The animatronics development on the sequel has been spearheaded by Neal Scanlan, whose
creature designs you'll have seen in the new Star Wars movies.
Animatronics will be limited mostly to close-up shots, with CGI enhancing some elements, but
from what's been teased so far it looks good.
Now, what did you think of the first full trailer for Fallen Kingdom?
Were you a fan of the first movie and has the new trailer got you hyped for the sequel?
Let me know what you think.

Tweaking my network audio interface - Duration: 9:45.
Although the combination of the SOtM sMS-200 Ultra and Mytek Brooklyn sounds impressively
good - or perhaps because it sounds impressively good - I went all the way trying to put the
dot on the i, as the Dutch saying goes.
So, why do I think further improvement is possible?
Well, sibilance isn't on par with what I know from the studio.
Whether it sounds really nasty depends on the recording.
A Notorious example is the original version of Famous Blue Raincoat by Jennifer Warnes
but also the in audiophile circles well known track Stimela by Hugh Masekela suffers slightly
from this phenomenon.
I had already replaced the power supply of the nearest switch for a first gen SBooster
power supply and that did improve the overall sound to some degree but hardly the sibilance.
I also use a current SBooster power supply on the Mytek Brooklyn, although the improvement
is not shocking.
So after some research I decided the go for improvement of the cabling.
I tried both a CAT6 and a CAT7 network cables that gave a small improvement over a standard
CAT5e patch cable and no difference between CAT6 and CAT7.
I wondered what audiophile CAT cables would do and after some research and asking around
I went for the top of the line AudioQuest, the Diamond CAT7.
That's a lot of money but I needed only the shortest length and I enjoy my Audioquest
Castle Rock speaker cables a lot.
These use the same dielectric bias system.
It might be good to know that this project was not initiated as something I would report
on in a video.
So I didn't want to save a few buck at the expense of time.
The improvement was clear, more openness, more control, more detail but no improvement
in sibilance.
So the next step obviously is the USB cable.
I already used an Audioquest Cinnamon USB cable, which is very fine and - important
- at 69 euros quite affordable.
But I needed to know what the ultimate would offer.
So again I went for the AudioQuest Diamond series USB.
And again it did improve the sound: a blacker background and above all relaxation.
But it did not eliminate the exaggerated sibilance on those tracks I mentioned and others that
suffer from the same problem.
I needed to do more research.
Although the SOtM sMS-200 Ultra is the best that happened to me over the last five years,
audio wise, it doesn't have galvanic separation on the ethernet input.
If you want that, a set of transformers would have been needed.
Now, transformers have the advantage of providing galvanic separation, meaning that there is
no electrical contact between one side of the transformer and the other.
The signal is converted by the primary winding into an alternating magnetic field that is
picked up by the second winding and converted back to current.
This process only takes place in the frequency band the transformer is designed for.
It has been and still is the favourite way to send a signal from one spot to the other
without having to worry about ground potentials.
Let me explain that too: there is no such thing as ground in the sense that all voltages
can be referenced against.
There always will be differences in ground levels and even if it is only a few volts,
it will disturb signal distribution, being analogue or digital.
This is solved by the transformer since ideally only the intended signal exists at the output
of the second winding of the transformer.
And there is another advantage of transformers for apart from the DC voltage, the ground
plane can also carry electric pollution of all kinds.
Again, this is solved by the transformer.
So it is the ultimate solution?
Well it can be.
As said, transformers contain two windings, coils if you like, and these have inductance,
the property to resist changes in voltage.
Therefore they will distort the wave form to some degree.
Well designed transformers only loose a little, bad ones or ones that are designed for other
frequencies can be disastrous.
So what I needed was a set of four transformers - ethernet uses four twisted pairs - suited
for 1 megabit ethernet.
These are available by the masses, literally.
I couldn't find a supplier that wanted to deliver me less than 1000 pieces.
But the solution appeared to be very close by: streaming specialist Pink Faun at only
a 30 minute drive offers the Lan Isolator.
This ready-to-use adapter can simply be added in between your LAN cable and the LAN input
of the streamer or other audio device using the network.
Now, what does this do to the sound?
Well, it does reduce the exaggerated sibilance clearly.
It is always difficult to be more precise on these matters but I'll try: I think the
exaggerated sibilance has been reduced to no more than 10%.
Keep in mind that I have no way of knowing how much of it is due to errors in the recording
or carrier.
It's just gut feeling - the percentage that is.
The audible result is clear.
At least in my setup.
The Pink Faun Lan Isolator is the cheapest of the tweaks I have applied, only 149 Euros
including VAT, the European sales tax.
So what would happen when I would revert back the rest to the initial situation: standard
CAT7 and AudioQuest Cinnamon USB?
That would save out 759 euros on the Diamond CAT7 and 599 euros on the Diamond USB.
Well, it's a bit like climbing to a nice view: the first step doesn't bring you much
but if you go all the way to the top, you get the best view.
Whether you want or need to spend this kind of money depends on how well you have chosen
and setup your stereo, the quality level of your stereo and the money your are willing
or able to spend.
All the tests I did were primarily on my setup 1 but I also did try the same in my setup
2.
There I only found the LAN Isolator being worth the money and would go for the Cinnamon
USB plus standard CAT7 cable, leaving me 1,359 euros to do other, more efficient investments
in that setup.
Let me stress again that this didn't start of as a review, it's rather a report of
my audio adventures.
These might be of use to those that use the equal or similar front end and might not or
not completely work out the same with other equipment.
You can do the same as I and try it for yourself.
The LAN Separator is money well spent unless your network audio device already has a transformer
set built in and it is very affordable.
As far as cables are concerned: there are dealers that are willing to sell you the cables
under the condition you can return them undamaged and in the original packing if the result
is disappointing.
Always discuss this upfront with your supplier.
And be fair, don't spoil it for others that are willing to spend the money.
