In this video, I'm going to introduce you
to the Duo Admin Panel and show you how to use
its in-depth reporting functionality.
Before watching this video, consider reading the
overview documentation for the Admin Panel
located at duo.com/docs/administration.
Every aspect of your Duo two-factor
authentication system can be managed
from the Admin Panel.
Duo lets you reduce risks by enforcing
precise policies and controls.
This includes creating and managing
applications, enrolling and activating users,
issuing and managing SMS passcodes and
bypass codes, managing mobile devices,
fine-tuning the user experience of
your Duo installation, and more.
Note that the features available to you in the
Admin Panel depend on which Duo edition you have.
While Duo Free offers basic two-factor
authentication and user management,
there are progressively more features
and granular controls offered in the Duo MFA,
Duo Access, and Duo Beyond editions.
Certain features are also available or hidden
based on Duo Administrator roles.

In this video, we will show the
experience and features present
for a Duo Beyond account being accessed
by an administrator with the Owner role.

To access the Duo Admin Panel, open a web browser
and navigate to admin.duosecurity.com.
Enter the username and password for your
Duo Administrator.
Note that you may opt to delegate
Duo Administrator primary credentials
to an Identity Provider, like ADFS,
Azure AD, Okta, or OneLogin using SAML.
Learn more about this single sign-on

After successfully entering your primary
credentials, select and complete a method of
two-factor authentication to finish your login.

The Admin Panel Dashboard gives you a snapshot
of your organization's activity.
Some reports can be accessed via the appropriate
contextual information in the Dashboard.
We will circle back to additional reports
and information at the end of this video.
The information shown first on the Dashboard
provides a quick overview of the update status
of your organization's endpoints, your users'
authentication success rate, the total user count
and users with bypass or locked out status.
The total endpoints summary information
on the Dashboard indicates how many
of your endpoints have outdated
operating systems, browsers, or plugins.
Click the Out of Date or Up to Date numbers or
the Total Number of Endpoints link to view more
detailed information on the Device Insight page.
We will revisit this page later in the video.

Clicking the Authentication Success percentage
takes you to the Authentication Summary report,
which gives an overview of all
user authentications and helps you spot trends.
Key information included in this report is
successful and failed authentications over time,
listings of your most-used two-factor
authentication methods and applications,
and authentication method usage over time.

Click the percentage of denied authentications
link right below the success rate to get taken
directly to the Denied Authentications report
to learn more about the reasons for these
failed authentications, as well as the users,
factors, and applications involved.
Click the number of licenses remaining link
shown underneath the total user count
to view the Deployment Progress report,
which tracks how many users there are in your
Duo deployment, how many applications you have
protected with Duo, the average number of
2FA devices per user, and the most
popular authentication method used.

Click anywhere on the interactive graph
of your most recent authentication successes
and failures to view the Authentication Log,
filtered to display the related events.

Below the bar graph, you can see the ten
most recent authentication attempts.
The Authentication Log lists information about
the last ten Duo login attempts,
including the date and time of
the access attempt, whether the authentication
was successful or not and why, the Duo username,
which application was accessed, access device
information such as the source IP address and
location, if the login originated from a public
IP address, the client OS, browser and
plugin information, and trusted status.
Second-factor device information such as the type
of Duo factor used, the device's phone number,
and source IP address and location,
if the Duo push response originated
from a public IP address.
You can click the Full authentication log
link to view all login events.

In the What's New? feed, we provide
information on new features and
enhancements to the Duo service.
Depending on the size of your browser window,
the What's New? feed may appear on
the right side of your screen,
or below the Authentication Log.
Click on your name in the upper-right corner
to access your administrator account action menu.
Edit Profile lets you change the name associated
with your administrator login,
reset your password for the Admin Panel,
update your secondary authentication phone number
and activate Duo Mobile for Admin Panel login.
You can also click Log Out on this menu
to end your Duo Administrator session.
You will be logged out of the Admin Panel
automatically after 60 minutes of inactivity.

You can manage or view different settings by
clicking the navigational elements
on the left side of the Admin Panel.
The options available in the side menu depend on
your assigned administrative role
and Duo edition.
Let's run though each link in the
side menu and where it takes you.
Dashboard: Return to the home summary page.
Device Insight: Review information about clients
and devices authenticating to Duo.
Policies: Define and assign access policies
by user group and per application.
Applications: View, add, and modify applications.
Users: View, create, and modify users.
Endpoints: Review operating system, browser,
and plugin security status information
about end user devices accessing Duo.
2FA Devices: View, create, and assign phones,
hardware tokens, and other authentication
devices.
Groups: Create and view groups.
Administrators: Create and manage
administrator access to Duo.
Only administrators with the Owner Role
can view this section.
Trusted Endpoints Configuration:
Set up management integrations to support
managed and unmanaged device detection using
Duo certificates.
This feature appears to Duo Beyond customers.
Reports: View authentication events,
administrator actions, and other
valuable reports.
You can also navigate to these reports
via the contextual links on the Dashboard
that were described previously.
All administrator roles except Billing
and Phishing Manager can view reports.
Phishing: Launch and monitor phishing
campaigns targeted at your Duo users.
This feature appears to Duo Beyond
and Duo Access customers.
Settings: Change global settings for
your Duo service.
Billing: Manage payment methods, change your
Duo subscription, view and download your
monthly billing history, and purchase telephony
credits or Duo hardware tokens.
Only Owner and Billing Admins can
view this section.
You can also find Duo's Support information
on the left side of the Admin Panel.
Paying customers may click the Support Tickets
link on the left to create and manage
support tickets in the Customer Portal.
You will need your account ID information
from the left side of the Admin Panel
if you contact Duo Support via phone or email.
Additionally, you can find your Deployment ID
on the left under your Account ID.
Clicking the Deployment ID takes you to the
Duo Service Status page, where you can see the
current operational status of Duo's service.
Click the Add New button in the top-right
of the Dashboard to quickly create
a new user, group, or application.
Use the search field at the top of the
Admin Panel to quickly find a particular user,
phone, or token device, group, or application.

All administrator roles, except billing,
can view reports.
Clicking the Reports link on the left side
of the Admin Panel takes you immediately
to the Authentication Log.
This Authentication Log is a more in-depth
version of the log available on the Dashboard.
In addition to the information provided
in the abbreviated Dashboard log,
you can click the top toolbar to
apply a number of granular filters.
These include filter by user, application
or group, time range, authentication result,
second factor method, and denied authentication
reasons.
Click the Export button in the upper-right side
of the log display and select CSV or JSON
to download a copy of the Authentication Log.
The Admin Panel truncates Authentication Log
entry display to the last three months,
or the most recent 10,000 events,
whichever is shorter.
In the left sidebar, under Reports,
click Telephony Log.
The Telephony Log shows all the phone
calls and SMS messages sent by Duo.
These could be initiated by administrator login
to the Admin Panel, user login to Duo-protected
services, or device enrollment and activation
links sent to users and administrators.
Reasons for telephony use are indicated
in the Context column.
The number in the Credits column shows how many
credits were deducted from your telephony
credits balance for each phone call or message.
Click the Reports button in the upper-right
side of the log display and select CSV or JSON
to download a copy of the log.
You can also select URL to obtain a direct link
to your current Telephony Log view.
In the left side bar, under Reports,
click Administrator Actions.
The Administrator Actions log shows activity
by your organization's Duo Administrators.
Examples of logged administrator actions
include administrator accessing the Admin Panel,
tasks like adding, modifying, or deleting
phones, users, tokens, applications,
and other administrators, Active Directory
sync start, and admin API actions.
Click on the link in the Action column
to see more details.
The Admin Authentication log may be
filtered by administrator using the
field at the bottom of the report.
Click the Reports button in the upper-right side
of the log display and select CSV or JSON
to download a copy of the log.
You can also select URL to obtain a direct link
to your current Administrator Actions log view.
If you have added any filters to
your current view of the log, the report
only includes the filtered results.
Under the Reports sections, you can also view
the Authentication Summary,
Denied Authentications, and Deployment Progress
reports we accessed earlier during
the Dashboard section of the video.
Navigate to the Device Insight tab on
the left sidebar.
Duo tracks versions of operating systems,
browsers, and plugins, like Flash and Java,
on the devices accessing your protected resources
and provides a summary view on this
overview page.
You can easily see how many access devices
are out-of-date throughout your organization.
Duo Beyond plan customers also see summary
information for trusted endpoints.
Using the Device Insights page available to
Duo Access and Duo Beyond customers,
you can see device-specific information for
authentication devices and endpoints.
This reporting includes information on whether
mobile devices have been tampered with or jailbroken
and if they are using features such as
screenlock, biometrics and full disc encryption.
Familiarizing yourself with the
Duo Admin Panel allows you to get
the most out of your Duo deployment.
