Youtube daily May 6 2018

Hello everyone. Thanks for tuning in again. I have a number of new Google Home

and Google Assistant features and products to talk to you about this week.

Let's get right into them right after this

First thing's first. Now Amazon Alexa or the Alexa-enabled assistant has been

ahead of Google in terms of the payments functionality, and Google is trying to

play a little bit of catch-up here. So they've gone ahead and they've updated

Google Assistant to accept payment methods in six different countries.

We already have payments in the US but now we're capable of adding a payment

style or a payment information if you're in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan,

and the UK. Next up is something that Google is playing catch-up with again.

The Google assistant applications or set of skills...whatever we want to call them

today, they haven't had a real robust review system, and Google has gone ahead

and updated that with the capability of adding reviews. Now there's been some

functionality here and there in that system, but we're now seeing the ability

to go ahead, edit reviews, review actions, specific actions, and the system is only

improving. Alright, so something else Google is doing, and I think this is

interesting for those of you with a bit of a technical background like myself. If

you've been interested in some of the functionality of Google Assistant and

you think you have what it takes to, either give Google an idea, or create a

product or a system to utilize Google Assistant and improve its features or

capability or integrated with something else.

So if you have any of those sorts of ideas, there's now a program available

for you to apply to. Within that program, you're going to be able to get

investment funds, guidance from Google engineers, early access to Google's

features and tools, and you even get a little bit of promotion, and

then of course access to the Google cloud platform, which is actually a

pretty big benefit for those of you who are actually going to go and develop a

product. So I think the point of this is, when we're talking about the massive

amount of Alexa based skills that are out there, and the amount that Amazon is

putting into their developers program, on that side, this really is a second

or a third component of Google going out and getting developers on board. And

working with little companies, or little startups, and helping them through the

process of creating something that works with the Google Assistant. Switching over

to something a little more fun. Star Wars day was May the 4th and and of

course all of you are gonna post below May the 4th be with you, but

Google has tried a number of times to

catch on to these events, or these days, and they've done the same thing with the

May the 4th here. So what's interesting is I'm actually talking to

you on May the 5th, and you're watching this video at least on May the 6th, or

after, and Google has left some of this interesting new functionality, or this

fun functionality, in the Google Home. So I'm going to show you a quick demo here.

Who shot first? "Han Solo."

"...OK I just watched the video again and now I'm

thinking Greedo."

"All right here we go, I've now watched the video 15 times and

I can say for sure that Chewbacca was not in that scene and I am therefore not interested."

Speak like Yoda.

"This moment waiting for I have been you, I think so."

There you go, we're here on May the 5th and Google Assistant, I think that's

pretty fun, I don't mind that kind of functionality

at all. Skipping over to the product side of things. If you're someone who has an

Android watch and it has the Wear OS, and we know a number of devices just got an

update, from Google up to Wear OS. If you have one of those

watches, you're now getting improved functionality from Google Assistant. So

you're going to be able to communicate, and the Google assistant will

communicate back to you. If your watch has a speaker, you'll actually be able to

hear it there. If not, the Bluetooth headphone capability will actually bring

the the message directly to your ears through your Bluetooth headphones. So

lots of new functionality coming for those of you with a Wear OS device.

Probably my favorite new feature this week comes to us directly from Google.

They're trying to promote some of the capabilities within the Google Play

Store and Google Play Books. This has been something that I don't think is overly

utilized by the public. I think on the flip side, Amazon has quite the

book service, and they announced that Audible book service, so Google has gone

ahead and they basically released the capability for Google to read you a book.

Now we had that functionality a few weeks ago here on the channel, and I told

you about that and you know it was more based on which books you have. Something

for kids though this week, and I really like this functionality, is you could

just ask for a classic story. I'm going to show you in a second how that

works. You just get a classic story at night, say read to your child by the

Google Assistant or the recording they have for that

classical story. So here's the demo. Let me show you real quick. We'll come right

back. Tell me a story.

"Okay, this one's called Little Red Riding Hood and it's

from story nori on Google Play Books. Little Red Riding Hood - Once upon a time

there lived a little country girl. The prettiest little girl

who's ever been seen. How did little red riding-hood..." The last thing

to talk to you about this week: Xiaomi Aqara, I talked about that earlier in the

week with the new Home Automation or new Smart Home products and features video.

What I want to tell you, for those of you with a Google Home you're going to

be able to control those products with your Google Home or Google Assistant by

the end of 2018. So that's been announced by the company. They have a smart home

light bulb, they have a number of other smart home devices, so you're going to be

able to buy those from this Chinese manufacturer, who is really trying to

ramp up their smart home game. So there you have it one last thing to tell you

guys about. I'm gonna show you at the end of the video.

Dana B is the winner of our Google Home Mini giveaway. Of course I can't give you all of

her information, but I'm going to show you the draw here right now. Alright, so you

can clearly see we had three thousand seven hundred and eight entries into our

contest, which is great. I love to see that you guys were really engaged in

this giveaway, and I'm happy to give away the Google Home Mini. So I'm going to go

ahead and click draw winners. I only have one winner for this contest, and we're going to

do more of course as we go. I'm gonna hit draw and you're going to see Dana's name

show up here. She's the winner! I've reached out to her. So there you have it

if you're Dana, and you're watching here today, make sure you reach out to me I've

already emailed you and you just have to email me back and let me know where I'm

supposed to send this thing. So anyways everyone, thanks for watching again. We will

see you next time here on the channel with more new home automation

features and new home automation products related to Google Home and the

Google Assistant next week. Thanks for watching, we'll see you next time.

How To Grow A Kiwi Tree or Vine From Seed - 24 Months - Duration: 7:50.

hey everyone its Rob the backyard gardener and it's time for a Kiwi update

May third which was a couple days ago they turned two years old so I think the

last thing that I gave you they just started to break their buds from the

winter season so let's see how they're doing now before I show everyone Kiwi

vines I do want to remind everyone that I'm actually just growing these for fun

and if I happen to get flowers then great but it's gonna take a minimum four

to seven years for these Kiwi vines to even have flowers and then we also have

to hope that I have male and females so it's very possible that I could be

growing all these ten Kiwi plants and not one is a male plant and if that's

the case even if I flower I won't get any fruit but I'm not worried about that

today in the first couple years of Kiwi vines all you really want to do is train

them vertically and then get them slowly trained laterally now I've made a few

mistakes I've allowed some of them to wrap around things and again that's not

what you're trying to do you're trying to just grow one vertical leader up but

and we'll talk about that a little bit in the video but I'm not worried about

that right now I'm trying to establish deep roots and figure out which of the

leaders is going to be the front-runner and you can always heavily prune Kiwis

in the winter or in the offseason which is what we'll be doing for the video

today I'm just gonna show you how they're growing what they're doing talk

a little about how I'm training them and then some not even training at all I'm

really just letting them go wild alright enough of the rambling let's take a look

at these Kiwi vines that I've started from seed that are now two years old

we'll kick the video off this time with the one that's in between my Thompson

seedless grape vine so you can see that down here this is the one that I'm

really trying my best to grow into it the proper kind of canopy which is to

keep heavily pruning it down every year and have it kind of be a

like a straight up trunk and then like you would do with a grapevine you would

let it run laterally so that you can harvest or hope we have flowers and then

harvest some fruits so it's starting to fill up we've got several, matter of fact we

got a new vine coming up here amidst the older last year's vine but I wanted to

give you a look down here we have last year's trunk here and this year's trunk

here and I likely that's where it's breaking off at I likely will chop this

at the end of the year but for now we're gonna let these several trunks grow up

here all the way up just to keep getting at a fatter trunk and I'll eventually

decide which of the vertical vines is gonna be my leader every year I'll kind

of do that as this guy fills out anyway that's the first one here and then you

work all on this side of the yard we've got the same kind of action going on

here we've got several Kiwis plants growing

in here doing the same thing we've got a trunk down here with several leaders you

can even see a new shoot coming in right there I love the way the Kiwis the

foliage looks it's like furry it's beautiful look at this sorry for the

dirty hands I was doing some gardening here's another good end

look at how crazy that is beautiful gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous but this is

where the other ones are coming in at over here let me go and zoom back out

well again we're doing the same thing we're trying to train the branches up

vertically whoo you can see it's kind of a cluster there but the the concept here

guys is I'm gonna keep using these first four to seven years as just trying to

fatten up the trunk and establish the best leader possible you can see this

branch I went ahead and chopped it here didn't need to get any further we've got

another one shooting up here these guys are growing like crazy ideally and I

wish I had some pictures to show you guys but I don't have them for this

video maybe a future episode ideal like I said you want to keep trying to grow

them up into like a tree trunk and then when they get to the desired height 5 to

7 feet then you want to have them spread out laterally now some of these I'm

gonna use as ornamentals like this one I hear I do want it to go across and back

down on this side and I do want that because I want to kind of create a kind

of a cool entrance or I guess this way and escape in here with Kiwi vines and

flowers eventually but these things are bear to manage you can see they just

want to wrap around everything I'll probably do a nice topping on some of

these here in the next couple of months when they get out of control and then

we'll let them get one more growth spurt before the winter freeze again now that

you've seen these let me show you I have another one here in the greenhouse same

thing this guy's really coming in

beautiful foliage this is last year's dying trunk but I'm using him as just

support while the new one grows in let's go take a look at the other side of the

yard all right and here we have on this side of the yard and my other Kiwis so

we got the two down here that are in this box you got you can see another

beautiful little branch coming in right there they're so good-looking I love the

way they look got another one here coming in but more importantly guys I'm

just letting these guys do their thing this branch was already wrapped around

my magnolias probably have to chop that one down but take a look at this

they're absolutely growing out of control I love it and you recall that I

do want to have these as well go all the way across this side as well so it's

kind of a tangled mess I am still deciding how I want to trim these up I

don't want to do a lot of trimming right now because A they look beautiful and

B allowing them to kind of go crazy helps develop stronger root system and

fatter trunks now eventually I have to decide what to do with these guys

because it's already grown pretty strong into this wire but that's what I want

and I wanted to kind of get it get it up away from the tree and spread out it'll

be a couple more years before these guys even consider flowering guys so that's

not the mission today the mission today is just to give you an update after two

years see how well they're spread out see how well they're growing and allow

them to kind of go a little bit crazy and fatten up their trunks and and be

even larger vines come the next year well there you have it everyone that is

my Kiwi trees grown from seed update two years old at the end of the day I hope

you're enjoying the series I'm not allowed to update you today I just

wanted to give you some a look at them on how they're doing after they've done

more than just break their buds from the last video the next video in about a

month is when I'll start doing some pruning and probably some feeding and

we'll get more into that at the next video hope you enjoyed the video if you

did please give it a thumbs up and as always thanks for watching

you

Tutorial: Cardboard Couch for BJDs ~ with Subs - Duration: 9:33.

Hello everybody! This is Musume.

And today I bring you a tutorial about how to make a cardboard couh for your 1/4 BJDs.

Since this couch is made from a cardboard box, I prepared the pattern as a free PDF download,

with measures in centimeters. The link is on the descriptions.

The pattern is not in scale, but it is mostly composed of squares and rectangles.

Therefore, you can do one of two options.

Make the pattern in paper and then mark it in the box, or directly mark it on the cardboard.

Cut the pieces with a scissor or cutter, label them, and reinforce the weaker parts

of the previous box folds with masking tape.

The first part to assemble is the seat and the back part.

Ignore the back support, as it will be the next step.

Put the pieces together with masking tape.

Do not worry about the resistance of the couch at this point, since we will take care of that later.

Also, remember to add the additional part in the middle of the couch, to reinforce the seat.

After that, cut the remaining pieces for the laterals, the back support, and the top edge.

Assemble those again, in that order, using masking tape.

Here, you will also have to add an additional middle part which goes on top of the previous "leg" I just showed you.

In my case, I run out of long pieces of cardboard, so I had to divide the back support piece in two parts.

I reinforced it with masking tape, and placed it on top of the internal support.

Since my couch ended up a little too long, I simply cut several rectangles of cardboard,

I run masking tape around them, and put them at the edges of the seat, with more masking tape.

Now, my couch also had arm rests.

Depending on the model of couch you are doing, you can ignore this step.

Also, this part is not present on the pattern, and you will have to make it up.

Some dolls may be quite heavy, so we need to reinforce the couch.

Since this is all cardboard and masking tape, I mixed white glue with a little water in a pot.

Use disposable containers or something that you will not be using for food.

Grab tissue paper or kitchen roll, and cut thin straps of paper.

You will need to use an old brush, and put the white glue mix on the "seams" or "joints" of the couch.

Do it on small parts, put the paper strip on top, and put more white glue on top of that until it is all wet.

Repeat this in all edges and "seams" of the couch.

Remember to do it not only on the visible top part, but also on the inside.

For that, you will need to wait until the top is dry, and then turn the couch upside down to work on the inside.

This will make the couch really, really though.

Depending on your wheather and how much water you put on the mix,

you may need to wait up to two days per side of the couch until it is ready for the next step.

In order to give a more realistic touch, I covered most of the couch with wadding.

The back and the sit do not not have wadding, as the first one will not be visible,

and the seat will have cushions on top of it.

The cushions are simply a cardboard rectangle with a thick wadding on top.

You can make them from foam. The idea is for the doll to sit and the cushion to simply push down, as in a real couch.

For this part, you can use fabric glue to glue the wadding to the cardboard.

Covering the couch with fabric is the most difficult part of this tutorial.

As a rule of thumb, invisible parts are made with glue, while those visibles when finished will be sewn together.

If you use wadding, you can directly sew the fabric to it.

This is good, since it allows you to give tension to the fabric.

I used long stitches on this part to stretch the fabric of the back support.

Later, this will be covered with a finishing part.

You cannot use a sewing machine for this, and the stitch we are doing for the "pretty" edges

is called "hemming stitch".

Now, I will show you to do this.

Grab a needle with matching single thread, and make a knot on the end.

Pin the fabric together, and then pin the needle at the edge.

Grab only a thread of the fabric.

Make a diagonal movement, and grab a thread of the opposing fabric.

Strain the thread until the pieces join.

Now make another diagonal stitch on the oposed direction, to the first fabric.

Grab only a thread of that fabric, so the stitch will remain delicate and invisible.

Strain the thread again.

Then, repeat these two diagonal stitches until reaching the end of the seam.

If you strain the thread correctly, the fabric will be tense, and the seams will be small.

I assembled the fabric in this order.

First, I glued the back part to the top edge, and the inner bottom side.

Then, I made a stitched seam on the top edge, and covered the back support with fabric.

I made a rough seam at the sides to stretch the fabric.

Then, I glued the leg cover to the seat, to the sides, and to the bottom inner edge.

After doing the back support, I cut a very long strap of fabric, and used it to cover the seat.

It is stitched to the back support, and to the legs cover.

This also covers the arm rests, and was sewn to the wadding on the outside.

I folded it to cover the front of the arm rests, and sew it.

I messed it up, and the arms' front cover was too small.

So, I added this small piece to cover the spot.

I also did this on the other side.

Now, I covered the ugly seam on the sides and used a neat sewing.

The final part was cutting a rectangle and covering the sides of the couch.

This two pieces are sewn to the sides and to the top, but glued to the inside of the bottom edge.

Finally, I used plain fabric rectangles to make covers for the seat cushions.

Since the couch lacked personality, I made smaller squared cushions in white & black fabrics.

I am using them as decorations.

Now, to close up the tutorial, let me show you a small diorama I made up with the couch as the center piece.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial!

And if you have any questions, let me know in the comments.

I have other diorama tutorials that you may be interested in, including furniture and houses.

And if you like my content, please consider buying me a coffee so I can do more projects and tutorials to share with you.

"So Many Cities" - From B Live Concert (4/11/18) - Duration: 5:18.

This next song actually came from my friend, Rachel Kahn.

I went on to my Facebook group and I posted,

"Hey, someone write me some words, literally any words."

And my friend Rachel, who was my favorite poet in high school,

wrote down these words for me in handwriting.

You can see the script, it said, "I've left parts of myself in so many cities."

And she also wrote - And the other line that was in there was,

"When does a question become an answer?"

Which I thought was so lovely.

Yeah, and this is Kiani. (cheers)

The singalong portion of this is:

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Sing it back.

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Again.

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

One, two, three, and...

Am I in motion or just in pieces?

How can I miss what I never needed?

If I should forget will you remember?

When does a question become an answer?

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

I've left parts of myself in so many cities

I've left parts of myself in so many cities

But all I've kept

And all I've left I'll give to you

Who are these strangers?

Who are these strangers? I miss the old crowd.

Who are the old crowd? I miss the strangers.

We brace for impact, we've waited so long.

I try to hold on and then the ground falls.

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

I've left parts of myself in so many cities

I've left parts of myself in so many cities

But all I've kept

And all I've left I'll give to you

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Oh oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh oh

Gorgeous leave it all behind (All behind, all behind)

Gorgeous we can travel light (Travel light, travel, light)

All I need is you and time

Gorgeous we can travel light

I've left parts of myself in so many cities

I've left parts of myself in so many cities

I've left parts of myself in so many different cities

I've left parts of myself in so many different cities

All I've kept

And all I've left

I'll give to you
