So, this is our mobile soundscape exhibit.

Where do we go from here?

Soundwaves are just vibrations in the air.

Such a vast and strange environment.

As long as you have curiosity, you know there's life.

When I look out to the ocean,

I get that same feeling as I do when I look up into the stars.

Hearing my parents playing guitar,

that's probably my first memory.

As a kid I would run through the hallways

and I would hear them practising Mexican traditional music.

I went to a Catholic school, and the nun who had the Spanish class

always took students down to San Blas,

and that's where I met him.

And I was 15, and he was 16 years old.

Here we are at the plaza, La Plaza Principal.

Qué bonito.

My mum didn't know Spanish and my father didn't know English,

but they were able to communicate at least with music.

And then I came along.

Danny, he was a busy one.

Very inquisitive when he was little.

But his curiosity sometimes got him in trouble.

I was not a good student in high school. I didn't have any expectations,

I wasn't looking at universities or anything like that.

But after graduating I thought, well,

might as well go to community college.

I started at Cabrillo and I didn't know what engineering was.

As far as I was concerned, it was like a mechanic or something like that.

But I started taking some maths classes and it was different.

You know, there's lots of types of students.

The majority of the students, they want the equation

so that they could calculate a number.

And then there are students who actually try to understand.

That's Daniel.

I would always question things, I would always wonder,

how light works, why the waves are crashing the way they do.

And when you start looking at physics, and learning about

these soundwaves are just vibrations in the air,

and how we can represent those mathematically,

my eyes opened to a new world.

And that's, I think, when it clicked.

That I knew I wanted to do engineering.

Cabrillo College held a symposium,

where they connect students to research institutions.

It was really interesting what Danelle and John were doing.

Daniel had a musical background.

That's an important part of working on audio;

you have to have an understanding of the way sound works.

Light may reach a couple of hundred metres in the ocean.

Sound can travel thousands of miles.

It's not a surprise that many life forms use sound for communicating.

Blue whale is the largest animal to have ever lived on earth,

including bigger than any dinosaur.

They vibrate your body, they're incredible to hear.

The scientists at MBARI wanted to figure out a way to listen in

and to count how many blue whales there were.

So, the process that we're using

involves recording audio from the ocean.

24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

But that's a lot of information;

too much information for a human to try to look at and listen to.

We were able to turn those sounds into spectrograms,

which are just images or mappings of what sound looks like.

And fed those images into TensorFlow, this machine-learning tool.

Machine learning is getting the computer

to be able to pick up patterns.

It allows us to take a mammoth pile of data

and distill it into something meaningful,

so that we can do the analysis.

We want to understand how and when they're using all these calls,

because that can help us understand their ecology.

We could answer a lot of questions about the way we are affecting

the marine environment and how we can help conserve it.

Daniel was key in developing the software

to automatically find the calls for us.

Daniel started with the artistry of sound,

and found a meeting place with the science of sound.

That note is this note here.

Ultimately, both of those experiences, they're from the same source.

That is sound energy varying in frequency through time.

That's what makes music,

and that is the signal we analyse.

The whales are communicating something to each other.

I don't know what it is, but it made me think about

how music is a way of communicating.

Just like going back to my parents and how they met each other.

They were doing the same thing.

When I was a kid, I didn't think I was going to be a scientist or engineer.

And especially as I grew up, I didn't think I was capable of doing it.

School was hard for me, and it still is hard for me.

I don't know if I've found my passion.

I find myself so interested in a lot of different things.

But knowing that I'll never stop learning,

makes me feel pretty lucky.

Hot Mic Catches What Trump Privately Whispered To His First Lady And Leaves Critics Speechless! - Duration: 4:20.

Hot Mic Catches What Trump Privately Whispered To His First Lady And Leaves Critics Speechless!

Anytime President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania are seen together in public, the press

and public dissect their body language as a way to substantiate their claims that Melania

isn't unhappy with her husband and that Trump has no respect for her.

Since Story Daniels entered the scene, this sudden body language experts stepped up their

game throwing allegations about their marriage around like confetti, saying it's "clear"

than Melania feels trapped and wants out.

There's no shortage of lies and rumors that circulate about the first family, and this

is a major one.

It proves once again that the left has contention against the institution of marriage, as they

seek to destroy the president's, or at least convince others it's all just a sham for

show.

They can't stand and refuse to accept that a beautiful woman would be happy in a traditional

marriage to a very successful man.

Unhappy people who harbor hate for someone else want to believe those they target are

as unhappy as they themselves are.

No matter how hard they try to convince otherwise, Melania has proven she is still happy in life

and in her marriage.

Now, her husband just whispered a very incredible message in her ear that happened to be caught

on hot mic he didn't realize was left on.

The two shared a very tender moment that was unintentionally public, leaving all of their

critics speechless and it couldn't have come in a better moment.

Daily Caller reports: First lady Melania Trump revealed her signature

campaign to combat bullying and drug use Monday afternoon at the White House.

The president also revealed how he feels about Melania in a hot mic moment.

Melania's much-anticipated announcement was headlined by the first lady speaking to

a gathered audience of politicians and schoolchildren in the Rose Garden.

The campaign, called "BE BEST," is aimed at creating a healthy lifestyle for students

on social media and in the classroom.

It will also focus on prevention of drug and opioid abuse.

To make the campaign official, President Trump was on hand to sign a presidential proclamation.

Trump was invited onstage to join the first lady.

The two embraced and Trump could be heard saying "Good job honey," before moving

to the podium to make brief remarks.

It was after his remarks that the hot mic caught their private moment.

Daily Caller continued:

Trump said that "Everywhere she has gone, Americans have been touched by her sincerity,

moved by her grace, and lifted by her love."

The president continued, "Melania, your care and compassion for our nation's children

— and I have to say this, and I say it to you all the time — inspires us all."

The president signed the proclamation and gave Melania the pen.

The two embraced once again.

At this point, a hot mic caught Trump in all but a whisper saying to Melania "Thank you

sweetheart.

Congratulations honey."

The two kissed and Trump motioned toward the Oval Office saying, "Do you want to go with

me?"

This is genuine love, compassion, and appreciation for his wife.

He had whispered it in her ear, not addressing her specifically from the podium microphone,

as he has casually, and appropriately, in the past under different circumstances.

Melania has worked hard at perfecting her platform and presented it in an incredible

way, with passion and purpose for what she's really wanting to accomplish.

Michelle's "nutrition and fitness" platform was weak and rushed and she didn't seem

to care too much about it.

This began with what she picked for it which wasn't even a necessity in society.

While Melania has been criticized for taking too long to get her platform out there, perhaps

it was because she was taking her time to put together an incredible plan that will

really solve these serious issues that plague American kids and families.

So what if it took her a year to present it if it means that it will leave a lasting and

meaningful impact for years and long outlast Michelle's legacy which failed before she

was even out of the White House

what do you think about this?

Melania Just Fired Them ALL! 'That Is Not Acceptable Here – I Won't Allow It! - Duration: 4:51.

Melania Just Fired Them ALL!

'That Is Not Acceptable Here – I Won't Allow It!'

First lady Melania Trump just sent them packing!

She released multiple people from their positions as she would not allow taxpayers to be ripped

off for jobs that were simply not needed – quite contrary to the former first lady, Michelle

Obama.

While Melania Trump takes on bigger roles and a more active schedule, she has proven

herself to spend a lot less than what Obama did.

This news comes about as Melania Trump runs one of the lightest East Wings in recent history.

Michelle Obama was reported to have 16 people working under her, being paid a combined $1.24

million.

Melania Trump's staff is only four people who earn a combined $486,700, much less in

comparison to Obama.

Knowing that Melania Trump refuses to hire 12 extra people to do jobs that can be handled

by herself and four others is a wonderful bit of information as it reduces wasteful

spending of the taxpayer money.

Not carrying the extra staff for jobs that can be handled by fewer people is a step in

the right direction towards reducing the amount of money spent by the administration and shows

that Melania cares to be mindful in her position as the first lady.

That's an enjoyable quality for a first lady to have as it spreads a message about

being responsible and not overspending.

Fox News reported more on Melania's smaller staff: "The details are contained in an

annual report the White House sends to Congress showing the names, positions and salaries

of all its personnel.

Both the Obama and Trump administrations acknowledged several additional staffers beyond those listed

in the report with the term "first lady" in their titles.

But even counting all those employees — 24 for Michelle Obama and nine for the current

first lady — Melania Trump's office is relatively small.

It's an approach her spokeswoman says is intentional. As with all things that she does,

she is being very deliberate in her hiring, focusing on quality over quantity," communications

director Stephanie Grisham said in an email.

"It is important to her that the team is a good fit for what she wants to accomplish

as first lady, and that everyone works well together.

She also wants to be mindful and responsible when it comes to taxpayer money."

While the 2009 annual report listed 16 staffers for Michelle Obama, her press secretary said

at the time the staff actually included 24 people.

A 2009 FactCheck.org story said Obama's 24 aides might have broken records.

"That may indeed be the largest of any first lady, but Hillary Clinton, with 19 staffers,

and Laura Bush with at least 18 and perhaps more, weren't far behind," FactCheck.org

said.

Grisham told Fox News this week there are nine people working in the East Wing under

Melania Trump, a few more than listed in the annual report.

According to those personnel reports, Melania Trump's staffers include a chief of staff,

a communications director, a deputy chief of staff and a deputy director of advance.

Michelle Obama's staff included those same positions and a slew of others: additional

press aides, a director of policy and projects, a personal aide, a traveling aide and a director

of correspondence.

Michelle Obama's office did not return a request for comment."

Melania and Donald Trump will surely be criticized for this one way or another.

The critics will say that Melania fired people instead of being resourceful and saving money

for the White House and their Presidency.

While every President and first lady face critics, there has surely been an insufferable

and increased amount of criticism has been levied towards the Trump family, with even

Barron facing his own fierce barrage of harsh commentary from spiteful people who dislike

the Trump family living in the White House.

Donald and Melania work through the criticism, doing things to make many Americans in hopes

that they're constantly doing right by the citizens.

They will always face criticism from those who oppose their leadership, even though Trump

won the Presidency in a fair election well over one year ago.

What do you think of Melania having a smaller staff?

Is she saving money for taxpayers?

Is it a smart move for her to be more resourceful in her spending?

Will Michelle Obama respond to Fox News to talk about why she had so many people working

under her?
