Thousands Of Stores Forced To Reject Food Stamp Payments Due To Government Shutdown - Duration: 3:46.

Every day or two that this government shut down continues, we started getting more and

more horror stories about how it's affecting average people here in the United States.

And here's another one that just came out.

According to new reporting, more than 2,500 stores across the United States who previously

had accepted food stamps and ebt payments from people are now no longer able to accept

those forms of payment because they're not able to renew their license to accept those

payments because the federal government remains shut down.

Here's the way this works.

Uh, if you're, you know, a gas station, if you're a grocery store, if you sell food of

any kind and you want to accept food stamps, you can't just automatically take the food

stamps, the ebt cards, whatever it is, you actually have to apply for a license to be

a licensed, recognized, able to accept these forms of payments.

Grocer, because of the government shutdown with these agencies not working.

The people who had these license, which expire every five year, uh, they're not allowed or

able to renew them right now, which means their license has lapsed and they cannot accept

these forms of payment.

And here's why this is important.

We have $39 million people in the United States today living off the snap program.

Food stamps, ebt payments.

There's not exactly a whole lot of choice when it comes to where you can go and spend

that money.

Some of the people who have to rely on food stamps, they don't have an automobile.

They can't just drive an extra 10 miles down the road to go to the next store that accepts

these, you know, they, they have to walk, they have to take public transportation.

Maybe there's not another place in their area that accepts these.

Now, according to the government, 99 percent of stores out there who accept ebt payments

are still accepting them, but that number is going to shrink.

The longer the shutdown continues because every week that passes another license expires

probably a lot more than just another one.

We're talking hundreds, potentially thousands more licensed will expire and people cannot

renew them, so the longer this drags on the fewer places in this country that are going

to be able to accept those forms of payment.

And what happens in that situation obviously is are these people can't get food.

These people can't buy groceries.

These people cannot feed their families.

What makes it even worse is that even though February payments have gone out, they actually

went out earlier than expected.

If the shutdown continues, they don't know if they can continue making payments beyond

that.

In fact, several states, including Florida and California, two of the biggest in the

country are actually warning food stamp recipients with their latest, uh, payments here.

Hey, go easy on it.

Make sure you watch your money wisely because we don't know when the next payment may be

coming in.

So these people who already don't even have enough money to purchase food, now they're

being told, spend even less because we don't know what the hell is going on with our completely

dysfunctional government because president toddler is still having his temper tantrum

over the border wall.

So best of luck buying food folks, and hopefully that store in your neighborhood that you depend

on to accept these forms of payment doesn't have a license that's up for renewal within

the next couple of weeks.

Otherwise you are completely screwed at this point.

How Legalized Sports Betting Will Grow in 2019 - Duration: 10:33.

Nick Sciple: As I mentioned, one of the biggest news items in 2018 surrounding gambling

was what went on with sports betting.

Back on May 14th, the Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.

Basically, what that act had done was banned sports betting outside of Nevada, and I think

there was one other state that was carved out that hadn't used their carve-out.

That happened back in May.

We've seen some states move to legalize, about nine states are currently legal.

But there hasn't been quite as much movement as maybe some had hoped for.

Part of that has to do with the way the legislative calendars line up with a lot of these states.

Because that federal ban on sports betting through PASPA was lifted by the Supreme Court,

we still have to have legalization come at the state level, and most state legislative

calendars tend to wind down at the end of May.

It takes a little bit of a process to work through the bill-making machinery.

With state legislature starting to come back into session here at the end of January, beginning

of February, we might see some movement on continued legalization.

To give you some context on the size of the sports betting market, $4.9 billion was bet

at Las Vegas Sportsbooks in 2017.

Some estimates on the size of the illegal gambling market are as high as $150 billion, although,

based on what I've seen, I think around $70 billion is probably more reasonable.

Asit, what are your thoughts on these early days of how sports betting has emerged and

the regulatory environment we're looking at?

Asit Sharma: As we go forward, some of the states which traditionally have gambling operations

have been the first to pass through their legislators the mechanisms for gambling.

Mississippi is one, which you'll be very familiar with, obviously.

New Jersey very quickly moved in 2018 to allow sports betting.

One of the things I'm looking at is this possibility of a federal bill coming up.

The Sports Wagering Market Integrity Act of 2018 was sponsored by Senators Orrin Hatch and Chuck Schumer.

Of course, Senator Hatch retired in December, so the bill has to be reintroduced in Congress.

What I've read is, many people in the industry don't think that the Federal regulations are

going to amount to much after the SCOTUS decision.

But, two of the big online betting outfits, DraftKings and FanDuel, are certainly monitoring

this very carefully. DraftKings is making preparations just in case.

A recent filing shows that they have engaged two lobbying firms to "educate policymakers

on issues related to fantasy sports and sports wagering."

So, as far as the daily fantasy sports getting into this sports betting, they're already moving in.

I think they'll work with influencing the policy debate if there is any.

But to me, it seems that this is moving forward, and more states will adopt this year.

Sciple: Yeah, that seems to be the case. It's a battle that's going to continue to play out.

Something to call out there is, Sheldon Adelson, the leader of Las Vegas Sands, which is another

casino operator, he's also a heavy political donor and a heavy supporter of the coalition

to stop internet gaming. He has a lobbying special interest organization there.

It's going to be interesting to see the battle between the folks on his side of the debate

wanting to put a wall around how large internet gaming can be, along with these new upstarts

like you mentioned, DraftKings and FanDuel.

As we look to how sports betting has played out in this first year, our best data is really

coming out of New Jersey.

As you mentioned, they had some existing gaming operations.

New Jersey was the force behind this Supreme Court case.

The original name of this Supreme Court case was Christie vs. NCAA, Christie being Chris Christie,

the governor of New Jersey at the time when that case was brought.

So, New Jersey was really Johnny on the spot with bringing this online.

Just in the first six months of sports wagering in New Jersey, we've seen $928 million of wagers placed.

To give that some context, that's about half of what Nevada puts together, $1.8 billion,

in the first six months. That's about half of the amount of sports bets placed in Nevada.

Considering this is coming only six months, with infrastructure not being in place until

after May, it really has ramped up in a very, very speedy fashion, and it looks like there

could be some more upside. You mentioned DraftKings and FanDuel.

This is an important thing to call out.

Of the amount of bets placed on sports in New Jersey, of the revenue collected,

about two-thirds of that sports betting revenue has accrued to sportsbooks affiliated with

DraftKings and FanDuel. These have been very influential players in driving traffic there.

There are a few reasons behind that.

Of course, they have an existing user base of folks who are comfortable putting money

on the line to make decisions surrounding sports that are sports fans, and they already

have an app in place.

Asit, what are your thoughts here so far on how DraftKings and FanDuel and these other

online operators have been able to capture a larger share of the market than your existing

legacy casino players?

Sharma: I think the brand familiarity that you mentioned is a big one.

Both of these companies have loyal followings who've made deposits with the company, has been

able to withdraw money on their winnings.

That's very important to the online wagerer, if I can use an antiquated term.

This kind of familiarity with your sportsbook, the place where you go and place your bets,

collect your winnings, and your trust in that, be a retailer, physical location, or online,

is extremely important in the industry, as you can imagine. I think they've got this edge.

I want to call out a stat that you brought to my attention. This is amazing.

More than 72% of money wagered on sports in

New Jersey in November came via mobile and online platforms.

Nick, I've got your numbers right here, $21.2 million in overall revenue, $14.4 million

of that was online revenue vs. $6.8 million in retail.

So, like we see with many other industries that we discuss, if you make it easy for someone

to do something online, it doesn't matter what it is, people are going to come.

It's very easy to move money, and it's one of the more compulsive industries.

I usually talk about compulsive industries in terms of Starbucks and coffee, but this

is that amplified many magnitudes. As you say, be responsible if you try out online wagering.

Do it as a hobby.

One thing that I'm very interested in in the coming months and years, also, is what I call

capabilities crossover.

So far, Draft Kings, FanDuel, and a couple of smaller competitors don't have physical presences.

We've seen since the SCOTUS ruling that FanDuel has opened a sportsbook in Meadowlands Racetrack

in New Jersey, and DraftKings has opened one in Resorts Casino Hotel in New Jersey and

also at Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in Mississippi.

As these companies decide that a physical presence will enhance their offerings,

by the same token, some of the larger traditional casino players like MGM and Caesars are looking

to partner up with smaller companies and also extend their own online capabilities and

cross over the other way -- that is, to go from a capital-intensive economic structure to

something that's capital-light.

I think both of these types of wagering facilities are going to learn from each other.

We'll see lots of partnering, we'll see lots of M&A.

I'm curious, your thoughts on how that will fold out?

Sciple: For me, at the end of the day, in the states where mobile wagering is legal,

it's going to capture an outsized share of the market as we saw in New Jersey.

The question I have on my mind is, how many states are going to legalize mobile and online betting?

You're going to have concerns of, how do we verify the age of the gambler, do we really

want everyone being able to place bets on sports anywhere in the world, or do we want

to confine it to a smaller arena?

In Mississippi, you have sports betting, for example, confined only to on-site locations.

It's going to be interesting to see how the regulatory framework plays out from state to state.

It's a little bit of a wait-and-see here.

I do think in the states that allow online and mobile betting will probably have a quicker

uptake on the amount wagered there.

I do think for sure what we're going to see is sports betting become a larger subset of

how people consume sports.

You're already seeing on ESPN, for example, Scott Van Pelt on his SportsCenter show has

the Bad Beats segment that he'll do every night, and things like that.

We're having that come into more of how sports are covered.

Deloitte had some numbers out, I sent these out on our end-of-the-year show.

Deloitte's expecting that sports betting will drive 40% of all TV watched by men ages 25

to 34 years old, which of course is a very important demographic particularly when it comes to sports.

So, definitely can drive engagement there.

Why Fiserv Bought First Data for $22B in Stock - Duration: 4:14.

Mac Greer: Let's begin with the big deal of the day, financial technology provider Fiserv

is buying payment processor First Data in a $22 billion all-stock deal.

Jason, that $22 billion number represents a nearly 30% premium over where First Data

closed on Tuesday. First Data up big today.

Jason Moser: This is a very good deal for First Data shareholders. Congratulations!

You should feel good about this.

Fiserv is a company Matt and I talk about on Industry Focus here and there on Mondays.

Ultimately, in a nutshell, this buys Fiserv market share into a part of the value chain

that moves money around in this world of electronic payments.

It gives the combined entity a chance to cut costs and boost margins over time, assuming they execute.

The mechanics of the deal, as you mentioned, are relatively fair. All stock.

It does seem like Fiserv has had a decent past 12 months over the past three years.

Before today's sell-off, the stock was up 67%.

It's not like they're selling with the stock at depressed levels. That's good.

Probably could have gotten away with issuing debt to do this.

The thing about stock deals, stock is still theoretical.

It doesn't cost them any money to do it.

You see these big tech companies do it all the time, like Facebook buying WhatsApp.

Everybody has an opinion on that. Ultimately, First Data is a merchant acquirer.

They just play a part of that transaction when you're going from the merchant to the

Visa network, to the bank. That's what Fiserv does.

It could be argued that their competitive position is a little bit trickier in today's

world with Square and PayPal. That's why I think the deal was a pretty good one.

I'm not sure I feel as strongly about First Data as I do about Fiserv.

All in all, probably a sensible acquisition.

Emily Flippen: I think this is probably a testament to what's happening in the bigger space.

We're seeing a lot of consolidation.

There's a lot of small players acquiring other small players, big players acquiring small

players in technology in general, like IBM and Red Hat, which we talked about.

There's a lot of consolidation going around because we have so many new startups operating in the space.

So, when I see stuff like this happen, it's not really a surprise.

You can't have so many different operators within payments or other industries operating independently.

There needs to be some consolidation. Greer: Let's talk about that space, to wrap this story up.

Jason, you talk a lot about the war on cash. We talk about names like Square and PayPal.

Does this deal change your thinking at all in terms of that bigger war on cash?

Moser: It makes me feel like Square and PayPal's position is a bit stronger perhaps today than

it was five years ago.

To understand what Fiserv does -- these are two very different businesses.

Fiserv is essentially a software provider for smaller financial institutions.

That's a good business in which to be. You provide some good software to big banks like this.

They don't want to switch systems ever. So, you deliver a decent product.

Over time, you can develop some switching costs there, which is a little bit of a competitive advantage.

But I think the real question here is going to be, where is First Data's position in this

value as we move towards this trend of electronic payments?

10 years ago, First Data's value proposition would be a lot clearer than it is today.

I think today, investors, including myself, would ask themselves the question,

why does First Data need to exist in a world where Square and PayPal are becoming more and more

able to do more and more things? That question, time will only answer.

A nice thing for Fiserv if, for some reason, First Data's business falls by the wayside

-- again, they only issued stock to do it, so they're not really out of pocket.

Shareholders get screwed, but hey, that's life.

Apple's iPhone Battery Replacement Plan: Good for Consumers, Bad for Sales - Duration: 4:47.

Mac Greer: Let's talk Apple. You have an iPhone. I have an iPhone.

Emily, do you have an iPhone? Emily Flippen: I do have an iPhone.

Greer: What model? What vintage?

Flippen: I had a 4S up until a few months ago when I upgraded to a 7S -- a refurbished 7S.

Greer: Wow. I've got a 6S. Jason, what do you have?

Jason Moser: My wife and I just upgraded from 6S to the new X.

Greer: OK, Mr. Fancy Pants. Moser: Well, let's wait a minute.

Greer: If you have an iPhone and you had your battery replaced this past year, you are not alone.

Apple replaced 11 million batteries in 2018 during its $29 replacement program.

During a normal year, Apple expects to replace between one to two million batteries.

So, they replaced around 10X as many batteries as they expected.

That news just came out.

Apparently, gone are the days when Apple can assume that everyone wants the newest model.

Moser: I did that battery replacement on the 6 when they were offering that thing because

they were pulling back on the performance of the phone. I took advantage of replacing that battery on the 6.

And it did extend the life of it. I thought it was actually going to be a little bit better. It was OK.

Greer: How much of a threat is this to the business?

There's been a lot of talk about China and the slowdown in China.

But when I see this news as an Apple shareholder, I think this worries me even more.

By the way, I'm not getting a new iPhone.

You've got to bring back the headphone jack and you've got to improve the battery life.

Flippen: Well, you might be alone in that regard.

I have to wonder, do people who work at Apple use Apple phones?

How could they only think that about a million people would want to replace it for the batteries?

I know personally, my phone hardly makes it through a day with the battery life.

It shouldn't have been a surprise for Apple that so many people got their batteries replaced.

But, you know what? I don't think it matters that much.

Apple has such a strong ecosystem.

Push came to shove when I was getting rid of my old 4S.

I was like, I could get any phone on the market, but it's just so much easier for me to go

ahead and get that refurbished 7. It was about the same price as an alternative.

And, yeah, the alternatives are a little bit newer, but the process I'd have to go through

to transfer, it's like, eh, I'll just bite the bullet.

Greer: So, you think this story for investors, a bit of a nothing burger?

Does it matter?

Flippen: It might be a bit of a nothing burger, but I don't think it bodes well for whatever

person made that original estimate. I think somebody lost their job.

Moser: Yeah, it's one where you think, as consumers, this is great.

The phones get better over time. The phone should last longer over time.

That's just the evolution of tech.

But if you're an investor, that kind of sucks, because that means people aren't upgrading

their phone as much as they used to.

So, if Apple wants to get people upgrading more often, they've got to offer more incentives.

Eventually, what that all plays out into is their ability to raise prices on the phones

in one form or another.

We're hitting that peak here, because I think we're hitting the peak of what these phones can do.

I'll say, going from the 6 to the XR, I'm still not impressed with some of the user interface.

I think Apple Pay took a major step back, they added more friction to that process,

in a process where they need to take away as much friction as possible. The face ID is, eh.

We're at a point now where the biggest advancements they can make in these phones, in my opinion,

is to make the battery last as long as it can.

And that, to me, has been the greatest part about going from the 6 to the X, now I have

a phone that can make it through all day without having to recharge it.

But I know those days are limited, too. To Emily's point, Apple is more than just the iPhone.

I know a lot of investors will love to make a big deal out of this.

Let's step back and take a little bit of a longer-term view there and recognize all of

the strengths of this business still. I think they're going to be OK.

Greer: Any chance I get the new model, I get my headphone jack back?

Moser: I really wish. Greer: I'm grieving still.

Moser: I applaud them for sending me the headphones with the new jack.

But I ran into the situation, I was on a plane the other day, and I'm thinking, "I'd love

to plug in and watch one of the movies on the screen there."

And guess what? Greer: You couldn't do it.

Moser: I couldn't do it.

Greer: You could do it with my headphones,

and my rotary phone. Moser: I could have.

That was a bit of a downer.

These are the advancements, you have to make these trade-offs, I guess.

What's more important, the battery or the headphones?

Jim White has not held back in his criticism of Manchester United star Alexis Sanchez

Speaking on his show on talkSPORT, White posed the question that the Chilean's time at Old Trafford ranks as one of the biggest flops in Premier League history

He did not pull any punches, reading a number of stats that shows just how much the Red Devils have had to pay Sanchez since his move from Arsenal

He said: "It's a year to the day since Sanchez arrived on the scene at Old Trafford

In that time he's made 23 Premier League appearances, he's made 17 starts.  "What it all boils down to is he's scored three goals, he's played 1,551 minutes

Total shots: 33. Shots on target: 16.  "We know that it took financially to get Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford, he's on a weekly wage of £391,000 a week, which means he's earned over £20m in 12 months

"On only 10 occasions he's played the full 90 minutes.  "He's played 32 games in total, earning £75,000 for each start, so he's collected a mind-boggling £1

95m for just lining up in the colours of Manchester United.  "Does it symbolise, and I think it does, the absolute troubled time that Mourinho had at Old Trafford?  "Does Alexis Sanchez have to go down as one of the biggest flops in Premier League transfer history?"   Keep up to date with the latest news, features and exclusives from football

retargeting lists by date range similar to that last message

not all retargeting customers should be treated the same way with respect to

time on your website an abandoned cart yesterday or when in the last few days

is far different from an abandoned cart from 60 or 70 days

go focus on messages and audiences that are based around this time differential

if you focus on the visitors that are more recent to your website you'll have

more success this way you can craft your message in a more meaningful way and

ultimately be able to cut out those underperforming segments item number

three is to leverage audiences in your campaigns now while audiences won't

replace your keywords in pay-per-click campaigns they certainly do go a long

way to enhancing your keyword campaigns this audience targeting can be used to

boost your search campaign by adding a bit adjuster a simple example of this

would be if someone was both in our audience and searching for one of our

keywords we would be willing to increase our bid so that we were sure to win the

auction this is all done from the audience tab in our search campaign if

you have any other tips or tricks that you could recommend for boosting your

PPC campaign then leave a comment in the description below number four is to test

automating a portion of our campaigns now while we as online marketers keep

getting these great robust tools introduced to us there's also that

heightened ability for machine learning and its capabilities try testing some of

your campaigns by using this improved automation and ultimately it will free

up time for you to actually pay attention to some of the other parts of

your business that you've just been pushing off to the corner of your desk

you could test all sorts of things like dynamic keywords and match types

recommendations dynamic ads with keyword insertion you could automate your bid

strategy or automate rule sets and item number five on my list for Google

pay-per-click training is to not use Google pay-per-click not at least

necessarily just Google pay-per-click there are so many other channels that

you can use to achieve the same thing and a lot of times at a much reduced

cost per acquisition so item number five is test a new

channel you can use channels like Yahoo Gemini or Facebook LinkedIn Instagram

Twitter tabla reddit Outbrain and Pinterest all of these channels have

self-serve platforms and are great to use but there's one channel that I

suggest trying over all the rest and that is Cora Cora already has a bigger

user base than Pinterest at over 300 million users and it's ad platform is

just over a year old in ad tests we were getting $25 CPAs on Google and we were

getting $1 CPAs on Cora for the exact same metrics Cora also has great

targeting options and features that mimic search and display in social media

channels it's very easy to use and it has very robust conversion

tracking and audience building ok guys thanks for watching this video as always

I hope that you're really able to put this information to work for you also

don't forget to download a copy of my ebook on how I launched very successful

Czy "Tatra" to płyta jazzowa? Michał Barański o "Kaczmarczyk vs Paderewski: Tatra - Duration: 1:02.

Definitely, I think that this is a great trend around the World

when it comes to jazz music, to combine it with the roots of a certain country.

This is our Polish highlander music, and we have examples of very interesting jazz projects around the World

that combine music from country's region with jazz.

For example, Avishai Cohen or Tigran Hamasyan, who combines Armenian music with jazz.

I think that this is a good way to distinguish oneself from the New York and American jazz in general,

because Americans are the best at playing their music but we can give them something different

and thus be more recognizable in the World.
