War Thunder: The Shooting Range | Episode 74 - Duration: 16:42.

The Shooting Range

In this episode…

The Char B1 and what the French did with their tanks after the WWI;

What can six "Hurritons" do with a regiment of Junkers-87s

covered by the Gustavs?

A story of an unbelievable fight!

Hotline: the developers answer questions that you've left in the comments!

But first, let's start with…..

A heavy-caliber sniper rifle

we take a look at the Vaffenträger!

Metal Beasts Waffenträger

What do you see first, when you catch a glimpse of this vehicle?

Of course, the huge and incredibly powerful main weapon

the PAK 43, right from the King Tiger.

At 5.7 BR this tank destroyer is capable of scaring anyone to death

as its shells pierce235 mm of armour.

Now, keep in mind, that this gun reloads in about 9 seconds

and every shot is followed by a very sharp recoil.

At the same time, you don't have any armour.

Or, technically, you do,

but what's 20mm in front and 10mm in the sides and back

at BR 5.7?

Also, you won't be able to rush it, as it has a maximum speed of 35 kph

and in reality you won't get past 20 kph.

Sure, sounds bad when you think of close combat.

But the Waffenträger was meant for a whole different purpose.

Considering the great and very precise gun,

you can shoot the longest distances

and all those extra types of ammo?

you don't need 'em.

The APCBC shells will do just fine with any target.

The most natural thing for the Waffenträger is to ambush the enemies,

when they least expect it.

No need to maneuver and flank the opponent

he'll come to you on his own!

The tank's profile is very low, so you won't be seen from a mile away,

and the gun will take out anyone.

Still — don't forget about the decorators.

A couple of sticks and leaves will make your game on this machine

a lot more quiet and longer.

What else do you need to worry about?

Well, you don't have any smokes and the turret rotates very slowly

only 14 degrees per second.

So try picking your position so that you won't be dragged into a close combat…

And a couple of words about the tactics.

Open locations are all for you to feast on.

Pick any bush or trench you like, get in and wait for your prey.

As for the urban maps — the long distance ambushes won't work there.

So a) follow your teammates very closely and support them from behind the frontline, or

b) also find some secure spot and wait for your enemy to come to you.

When it comes to French WWI tanks, everyone remembers the Renault FT.

And all those Schneiders and Saint-Chamonds aren't that good in the public eye.

Still, without those, the French wouldn't create one of their best known tanks…

Pages of History Char B1

General Jean Baptiste Eugène Estienne is known as the father of the whole French tank industry.

He was the one to introduce the idea of such machines to be used in WWI,

and after it ended, he also made the call on how they should be developed.

He concluded that the future is in medium tanks with 75-mm guns.

The light Renault FT was too weak on armour and weapons,

and the heavy Char 2C was too expensive to be mass produced.

Medium tanks represented an ideal balance

and a 75mm gun could pierce not only other tanks,

but even some fortifications.

So in 1921

Estienne approached five tank manufacturers with a task for a medium tank

with a commander's cupola and a gun installed in its hull.

It was supposed to replace the Renault FT and become the first French main battle tank.

And so they called it "the battle tank" — "Char de Bataille",

or simply, Char B

Though Estienne proposed the companies to work together,

they went separate ways.

At Saint Chamond they followed the task and succeeded, creating a tank with a 75-mm gun

and two machine guns in the turret.

But the track shoes were wooden and weren't meant to last,

and the gun was set in a way that was really uncomfortable for the driver.

The FCM built a very odd machine,

using the rear turret of their own super-heavy tank, the Char 2C.

And the Renault and the Schneider companies worked together

and created two very similar tanks.

They shifted the gun to the side to give the driver some space.

But it could turn only with the hull itself,

so now the driver had to aim as well.

And he wouldn't be able to to that, unless they'd installed a brand-new transmission

that enabled turning on the spot with great precision.

All the prototypes failed the tests.

But Renault and Schneider machines proved to be better than the rest,

so they've been chosen to be the base for a new tank.

It enlarged a bit and later got a 47-mm gun.

The starting 15 tonnes of weight went up to 25 and it clearly wasn't the end of it.

With the weight grew the price of the Char B1.

So now it couldn't become a mass-produced replacement for the Renault FT.

The French started developing a new light tank alongside this one,

and the idea of a main battle tank failed spectacularly.

Moreover, tests of a new prototype began only in 1929

and the final project entered service in 1935

14 years after the project began!

Mostly, because there were constant changes in construction of the machine.

First, more armour, then a new gun, and after that, a new turret.

It was always something.

The Char B1 didn't replace the Renault FT.

Instead it became an expensive but very powerful tank that was ideal for… the WWI.

Its archaic chassis and long hull were great when it came to driving over trenches and moats

and a 75-mm gun was very useful in piercing enemy fortifications and tanks.

But what could the future hold for a tank of the past?

We'll talk about it next time.

And now let's take a look at a mimicking "Hurriton" in the wild

and find out, how one can destroy a regiment of Junkers-87s

without alarming one's shrink…

Pages of History That mimic Hurriton

Okay, that was a bit too much.

When the nazis first met the British Hurricanes with red stars in the skies of the USSR,

they dropped a mocking letter on one of the Soviet airfields saying:

"please, stop ruining the paint on our planes".

Truth be told, they were right, eight medium machine guns by Browning

could only make the German pilots laugh those days.

But they wouldn't be the last to laugh in this situation.

A long time ago we've told you what had happened to the Hurricanes

that were shipped to the USSR by the British Government.

In short, their armament drastically changed from eight Browning machine-guns to two 20-mm

ShVAK cannons and two heavy calibre Berezin UB machine guns.

You can imagine the shock of the Luftwaffe pilots, when a good-old and harmless Hurricane

suddenly started tearing their planes apart like they were made of paper.

Nobody would laugh at the Hurricane anymore.

This was indistinguishable from the regular Hurricane,

so the Germans now had to fear not only the Soviet Hurricanes,

but also the British ones

just in case those crazy Russians shipped the cannons to Britain as well.

But the funniest part of the joke revealed itself one day in autumn 1942

when Soviets had to stop a whole regiment of the Junkers-87 from bombing a village called Kolpino,

near the sieged Leningrad.

That day major Nikolay Nikitin led a group of six Hurritons on a routine patrol.

The planes were old and not very fast

so they clearly couldn't compete with the newest Gustavs.

But then came an order to intercept a whole army of Stukas covered by the Messerschmitts

and prevent them from bombing Kolpino.

Major Nikitin knew, the Hurritons were screwed.

Six old and slow planes against all that power?

No way the German fighters would let them do anything to those bombers!

So he decided to outsmart them all.

He lost some altitude so that the first attack would be from an upward flight.

Two Stukas in the back of the formation went down…

But what was the point?

There were like 50 of those still in the sky,

their leaders weren't dead and the German radio was already screaming for backup.

And it was coming

the brand new Gustavs with black crosses and green hearts on the fuselages.

Little did they know how that would end for them.

Suddenly major Nikitin ordered his men to extend their landing gears and reform by threes.

The Soviet pilots were shocked.

Because, fella, we're… like… already quite slow,

those landing gears will only slow us more, what's the point?

Well… Nikitin wasn't aiming for speed.

The thing was that the Hurricane's shape was almost the same as the Stuka's.

The only difference was that the Junkers-87 had a non-retractable landing gear.

He also knew that they were flying in groups of three,

so by extending the landing gears and changing formations

he literally made his group invisible for the coming Messerschmitts.

Of course, it wouldn't work in broad daylight and at short distance.

But the sun was almost down, and the German fighter pilots were coming from above,

desperately trying to see anything between themselves and the earth.

The radio went live again:

"Where are the Hurricanes?"

"What do you mean "where are the Hurricanes", they're right here, six of them,

they've extended their landing gears!"

"Six?

They're like dozens of them here!"

And one of the Gustavs opened fire to the nearest seemed-to-be-Hurricane.

He received a good load of screams of horror and hatred in return,

as another Junkers went down in flames.

The amazing speed of the Gustavs let them down.

Trying to distinguish the enemy from their own,

they've rushed by the bombers in milliseconds

and had to go along way sideways, losing time for a group turnaround.

That was exactly what major Nikitin was waiting for.

He wished his men bon appetit and shot point-blank two enemy bombers in one second.

The other five Hurritons weren't wasting time either.

The German pilots panicked.

Dropping bombs without aiming, they've ruined the formations and flew back in complete chaos.

And the aces from the green heart squadron finally turned around…

to see the sky crowded with the Hurricanes.

The Hurritons were long on the ground,

and the radio was still transmitting terrifying screams of the German pilots.

At times, some Stuka's crew would suddenly see a Hurricane in another ally bomber,

or realize, that there's a Gustav on their six ready to open fire.

Air gunners had to constantly fire in the sky to prove the fighter pilots,

that they were flying a two-seater bomber.

Needless to say, they were shouting all sorts of foul words

at those idiots at Jagdgeschwader 54 that had to cover them.

As for the Soviet pilots, they laughed alot!

And after that, they made some good and promising conclusions.

Yes, the Hurricane isn't good at speed, or climbing, or maneuvers.

All that is true.

But it's quite robust and can carry heavy cannon weapons and even rockets and bombs!

So why don't we turn it into a two-seater strike aircraft,

giving a second seat to an air gunner?

What do we lose, huh?

But that's a story for another time.

Developers answering questions from the comments!

Hotline

The first question comes from a user called NotSoEdgy:

"Can you talk about the history of the Vampire FB.5 in one of your videos?"

Got your request, mate!

We'll get there, not until New Year's episode though.

The second question is by a player called Skyer:

"Is there a chance to see other versions of the HE-162 like the C or D?"

No such plans for now, mate!

Then there is a question from Thomas Twohey:

"Will we see the Blackburn Buccaneer be added to the British tree sometime in the future?

A strike aircraft without offensive armament doesn't sound like a good idea.

So for now, we don't plan to introduce it.

The last (and very important) message comes from a user called Severyn Baltos:

"The French pilots focused on personal records rather than working as a team

Oh so it was JUST LIKE the game"

Yep. We told you, we take the historical approach here, remember?

Gunman In Joseon | 朝鲜神枪手 | 조선총잡이 - EP 16 [SUB : KOR, ENG, CHN, IND, VI] - Duration: 59:53.

Why don't we catch all the slaves on the run

and use them as an example?

Yeonha.

Yeonha has disappeared.

What do you mean?

Yeonha!

Yeonha!

Yungang!

I'm sorry I couldn't come earlier.

I don't know if this is the right way.

Mr. Sato!

Jemi!

The gunman is here!

Bring all the slave documents

in your possession.

The Black Gunman of the Full Moon.

If I can prove the Conservatives' evil doings,

can my father's name be cleared?

His Majesty will see to it.

Let's start our adventure.

He's Mr. Yamamoto from Japan.

Why did you want to see me?

Did you really kill my father?

I'm sorry.

Wait and see what I'm going to do.

Park Yungang. I'm going to kill him.

Yeonha will be happy to see you.

We meet again.

How did you find this place?

You seem really cold to me.

Unlike to someone else here.

Hyewon, have you been following me?

Yes, since you didn't tell me.

I had to do this.

Hyewon.

I warned you.

That I'd kill him.

I think I'm going to do that right now.

What are you doing?

I'm doing this on behalf of my father.

And this is also my good-bye to Yungang,

who played with my heart.

Good-bye, Yungang.

Drop your gun! Now!

If not, I'll shoot her.

Hyewon.

What are you doing? Drop your gun!

Why are you doing this, Hyewon?

You took away

the most precious man in my life.

So I'm going to take away

the most precious woman in your life.

I'm sorry.

Our relationship ends here.

Hyewon.

Shoot me.

Go ahead. I have nothing left.

Yungang.

Now!

Go!

I'll let it go this once.

I understand how it is to lose your father,

but I won't forgive you next time.

Forget the whole thing.

It's too late to turn things around.

Let's go.

(Episode 16)

It's still hard to believe

that Hyewon pointed a gun at me.

That's not the Hyewon that I know.

She's devastated after losing her father.

When you lose a loved one,

everything changes.

She's filling her void with fury.

I hope this will end quickly.

The whole thing.

I hope you can find peace of mind.

I will. It won't be long.

I'm keeping an eye on Kim Jwayeong.

He's the last one to take care of.

Please be careful. Don't get hurt.

Don't worry.

I'm not going to solve it with a gun.

Then how?

I'll punish him under the law.

Yungang.

How do you feel?

Thanks to you, I've gotten better.

By the way, how did I get here?

You were supposed to come,

but you hadn't shown up by sunset.

That's why I sent people out.

They've searched everywhere in the area.

Thank you, sir.

This vest must've saved you.

Where did you get it?

I got it from a soldier

in the Palace Patrol, just in case.

Get well soon.

You need to do something for me.

If you succeed with this, you can take over

the market rights for all of Joseon.

Don't think about siding with Kim Byeongje.

Sir.

Trust me.

I'll forgive everything you've done.

What is it that I have to do?

I'll let you know soon.

I'd like to see my daughter.

She probably thinks that I'm dead.

Sure. Go ahead.

Forget the whole thing.

It's too late to turn things around.

Lady Hyewon!

Let go of me.

Get a hold of yourself.

I don't want to live like this.

I don't want to live in agony like this.

Lady Hyewon.

Move!

I have nothing left.

Father has passed away and

I've lost everything.

I have nothing to live for.

Let go of me.

Stop!

Sir!

Father!

What are you doing?

Our body is what we can depend on.

This life is all we have.

Father.

I thought you'd died.

Even if that's the case, you have to survive.

The things that your mother couldn't

even dream about having,

and even I can't have,

you can have them all.

Don't do anything stupid from now on.

You shouldn't die like this.

We can't die that easily.

Do you understand?

I'm sorry.

I'm sorry, father.

What's going on?

How did you...

I was shot.

Park Yungang shot me.

But Kim Jwayeong saved me.

Don't tell anyone that I'm still alive.

That'll work better for me for now.

I won't.

What about Park Yungang?

He's got to go.

I'll make sure he dies.

You were alive.

How come you didn't contact me?

I was in a mountain hut.

I wasn't well enough to contact you.

What about Kim Jwayeong?

I'm going to visit him soon.

I came here first.

Good.

I want to tell you something

before you see him.

Kim Jwayeong is planning a coup.

He wants to change the king.

He'll give you an order soon.

I want you to obey him for now.

What about you?

I'm going to join him for now,

but we need to be prepared for failure.

If things go sour, I'll contact you.

I want you to be prepared, just in case.

Yes, sir.

You have to stay alert.

Your life and mine depend on this.

Yes, sir.

This is a simple trade.

I monopolize the mining rights of Joseon,

and you take your share.

This is a simple trade.

I monopolize the mining rights of Joseon,

and you take your share.

Well...

Let me think about it.

Don't worry about it.

I have some urgent business to take care of.

When that's taken care of,

it'll be easier for us to talk business.

Okay.

I hope it doesn't take too too long.

It won't take long.

Where is he?

He's in the back yard.

When things are settled, please contact me.

He wants you to contact him.

Take care.

Sir.

Hello.

Hi.

What is it?

It's Minister Kim.

Minister Kim?

The guy I saw at the Investigation Bureau.

Who are they?

Yamamoto and his gang.

Yamamoto?

The others will come tomorrow night.

Right.

Let's go inside.

Just a moment.

I'd love to say hi to Mr. Yamamoto though.

Forget it. You don't need to meet him.

Of course.

Let's go inside.

Yes, sir.

Let's go.

Yes, Boss.

I saw some high military officials

and Minister Kim as well.

They're definitely up to something.

For the past few days, high military officials

from the 5 Units of the Capital Defense

Command have been holding secret meetings.

Are they planning a coup?

I think mixing sand into the rice is

part of their scheme.

I think they're trying to provoke the soldiers.

Don't you think we should stop them?

Well...

We don't have any evidence,

and we can't do anything at the moment.

Kim Jwayeong has summoned his followers

to his place tomorrow night.

I'll go check into it myself.

You?

Yes, I've studied the structure of the house,

and where his guards are.

No. It's too dangerous.

We have no other choice.

Please let me do this.

I'll catch Kim Jwayeong on my own.

I'll come with you. I'll back you up outside.

(We'll protect Joseon with a new king.)

The time has finally come.

The moment you write

your name on this paper,

your life depends on

the success or failure of this uprising.

Go ahead.

Yes, sir!

Choi Wonsin?

Give it to me. That covenant.

What are you going to do with it?

I'll give you everything else you want.

Leave it here.

I want to take your life and the lives

of the members of the Conservatives.

Therefore, this covenant is all I want.

Stand up.

Now!

Sir!

Step back!

Let him go!

What are you doing? Get him! Now!

Yungang! Over here!

Send out messages immediately.

We're starting the coup right now.

Now! Move!

Yes, sir!

This is the covenant of the coup.

Park Yungang took it from them.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

This is enough.

I'll arrest them all immediately.

I'll clear your father's name.

Arrest Kim Jwayeong and his followers.

Take them to the Investigative Bureau.

Arrest everyone who's involved in this.

Yes, Your Majesty!

I have the covenant that the Conservatives

signed to start a coup.

I'll arrest them and question them all.

I'll finish this long and boring fight.

Your Majesty!

Your Majesty!

You have to get out of here.

The rebels are coming.

They've taken over the capital

and are on their way to the palace.

What?

Most of the rebels are soldiers,

and those who are guarding the palace

are no match for them.

They've already taken over the palace,

and have attacked the Japanese Legation.

No way!

Kill the members of the Min Clan.

Find the queen.

Where's the queen?

What are you doing?

Answer me. Where is she?

Go away. This is the palace.

You wench!

What's going on? What are you doing here?

I have no time to explain. Let's go.

It's a coup.

What? A coup?

Let's go. You're not safe here.

Wait!

I need to go to Her Grace.

I need to tell her about this.

No. It's too dangerous.

She's in danger as well.

I can't flee knowing that she's in danger.

Suin.

Yungang, please!

I have to go. I have to protect Her Grace.

We don't have time.

The rebels want the members of

the Min Clan and the Reformists dead.

The commoners are joining them,

Your Majesty!

They're also trying to hurt Her Grace as well.

The queen? Where is she?

She's in her chambers.

I sent people to protect Her Grace.

But there are so many rebels...

Send more troops. We need to protect her.

Get her somewhere safe right now!

Yes, Your Majesty!

Suin.

It's a coup.

The rebels have already entered the palace.

I heard.

That's why they're here to protect me.

You can't protect Her Grace dressed like that.

You'll be targets in no time.

What do you mean?

I'm here to protect Her Grace.

Your Grace, I'll protect you with my life.

Don't be stubborn.

You can't fight them with

the soldiers you have.

I want you to put Her Grace's safety first.

Who are you?

I'm Park Yungang, the late Park Jinhan's son.

Are you?

He's here to help you.

Hogyeong,

we have to get out of the palace first.

I have a plan to get her out of here.

You can protect her when we get out.

Listen to Suin,

and tell His Majesty that

we're heading to Yeoju.

Yes, Your Grace!

We'll be right behind you.

Please take care of yourself.

You, too.

Let's go.

Yes, sir!

We have to get going, Your Grace.

The rebels will be here soon.

You wench,

where do you think you're going?

What is it? She's not here.

Shut up!

Get her out of there.

She's not the queen.

She's a court lady

who serves the Queen Mother.

Darn it! Let's go!

Let's go.

Suin?

Yes, she left the palace with Her Grace.

Yungang is with Suin.

Yungang is here as well?

Her Grace said that she'd go to Yeoju.

Can you tell His Majesty?

I will. Don't worry.

Be careful!

Those rebels are killing

the Reformists mercilessly.

You, should also be careful.

Get out of here quickly and

protect Her Grace.

Don't worry.

I'll take good care of Suin as well.

Thank you. Go ahead.

Let's go!

There he is.

You're the one of the ones from

Tongri Gimu Amun.

What are you doing?

You gave the king false hopes about reform

and formed the new style army.

I know you're responsible for all those things.

Move. I have no time to argue with you.

My boss wants you dead.

Who's your boss?

Is it Kim Jwayeong?

Deliver my message to him.

He can't stop anything with violence.

Even if he starts a coup

and kills all the Reformists,

His Majesty will never give up.

How dare you!

Tens of thousands of scholars like me will rise

again and again and protect His Highness.

No matter how hard you try to stop us,

Joseon will go forward.

That's the fate of Joseon.

What are you doing? Kill him!

Your Majesty.

I, Jeong Hoeryeong, will be with you

even after I die.

We're safe now.

Get in the palanquin, Your Grace.

Thank you. You saved my life.

Let's go.

(Unhyeongung : Regent Heungseon's place)

You must be quite shaken, sir.

(Heungseon) Did you have to do this?

Don't worry.

I'll let His Majesty live,

but the queen has to die.

That way,

the people of Joseon will calm down.

Can you please calm them down?

And then,

we can put your second son on the throne.

Why don't you help him

so that he can become a good king

who can lead Joseon well?

Kill the queen.

She escaped from the palace.

However, she couldn't have gone far.

Find her and kill her.

Yes, sir.

Why the queen?

I made a deal with Regent Heungseon.

Instead of enthroning a new king,

we'll spare His Majesty's life.

But that's not the only reason.

In order to take over the palace,

we need to get rid of

all the Clan Min members.

To do that, we need to kill the queen.

Don't forget.

If you succeed with this,

you'll be the king of

all the merchants in Joseon.

You and I can hold hands

and rule Joseon together.

Yes, sir!

It was Mangwoori Hill.

A peddler saw an escorted palanquin

passing by earlier.

Send out notices.

Anyone who sees a suspicious palanquin,

notify us immediately.

Yes.

But isn't it too dangerous?

What if this coup fails?

Don't worry.

If this coup fails,

I have another person to help me.

Regardless of whether

this coup succeds or fails,

I win.

Go visit Minister Kim Byeongje.

While I'm gone,

he'll let you know what you have to do.

Be careful, father.

How could this happen?

How?

I saw them going over the hill near Chachi.

I also saw women dressed like court ladies.

It didn't look like a normal palanquin.

If you go over the mountain, that's Yeoju.

The Queen's relatives still live in Yeoju.

Go back and take care of Hyewon.

We're heading to Yeoju.

Tell Hyewon that we're going to Yeoju

where the queen's relatives live.

Yes, sir.

Let's go.

Where are we?

It's too dark to proceed any further.

We'll resume early tomorrow morning.

I'm sorry that you have to spend the night

in a place like this.

Don't worry. I'm fine.

I'm more worried about His Majesty.

Please get some sleep.

We'll guard the area.

This way. It's too dark for them to go on.

Search the area thoroughly.

Yes, sir.

This reminds me of the old days.

When we were chased by a gunman,

you and I hid in an abandoned house.

I was so scared.

Aren't you scared now?

Of course I am.

But I feel better with you next to me.

You were with me back then and now.

Well...

By the way, what happened?

Why were you at the palace?

I found out that

Kim Jwayeong was planning a coup.

I took the covenant to His Majesty,

but the coup started

before we could do anything.

That man, Kim Jwayeong is

worse than I thought.

How could he start a coup?

I hope His Majesty is okay. I'm so worried.

His Majesty will be fine.

He's got his guards in the palace.

I'm more worried about you.

Why do you always get involved in

stuff like this?

If you'd left the palace with me,

you could've avoided this whole thing.

Are his Majesty and Her Grace

that important to you?

Of course they are.

They're the only people

who can clear your name.

His Majesty alone can punish villains

like Kim Jwayeong and reclaim your honor.

No matter what happens,

I need to protect them.

Even if I have to risk my own life.

Suin.

I guess they stayed here last night.

I see traces of them.

It's still warm.

They couldn't have gone too far.

Hurry.

Catch them before they get on a boat.

Yes, sir.

Hang in there.

We'll reach the boat soon.

Yes.

What's going on?

Some gunmen are here. We need to run.

Take Her Grace and run.

Okay.

If you want to save yourself, move.

If you touch Her Grace, you'll be in trouble.

If you insist...

I'll kill you first.

Protect Her Grace.

Yes, sir.

Hogyeong, I didn't expect see you here.

I had no idea that you were Minister Kim's son.

Your Grace, are you okay?

Yes, I'm okay.

I'm sorry to have taken so long.

You can relax now.

Let's go.

Suin, are you okay?

Yes. Thank you for coming.

But Yungang's in danger.

Hogyeong.

You made it.

Are you okay?

What happened to the gunmen?

They ran.

How are Lady Suin and Her Grace?

The soldiers escorted them to the boat.

I'm glad they're okay.

I'm glad you're okay. Let's go.

Her Grace is waiting for us.

(Yeoju, Queen's own house) I'm glad you're okay.

It's a humble place,

but I'll take good care of you.

Thank you.

If you need anything at all, let me know.

Have a seat.

Yes.

Do you think you're safe here?

This is my nephew's house.

I'll be okay for now if I stay here.

Okay.

I want you to do something for me.

His Majesty will be worried sick

not knowing how I am.

I'll write him a letter.

It won't be easy,

but can you deliver it to him?

Yes, Your Grace.

No! You can't go back to the palace.

It's too dangerous.

I have to let them know that

Her Grace is alive.

That way,

His Majesty will stop worrying about

her and find a way to suppress the rebels.

Suin.

I'll be okay.

I'm just going to deliver the letter.

Then, I'll go.

Yungang.

I can't send you back

to a dangerous place like that.

I'll go.

But...

I was going back to the palace

once I got you some place safe.

I have an important job to do when I get back.

An important job?

I have to capture Kim Jwayeong.

If I capture him, the coup will fail.

Yungang.

I want you to take care of Her Grace.

I'll deliver the letter.

Be careful.

Please protect Lady Suin and Her Grace.

Don't worry. I'll protect them.

Are you sure this is the right way?

Yes.

The Queen's nephew lives

over the mountain.

Her Grace?

It just happened.

What about Yeonha?

Don't worry. She's fine.

Are you sure that Her Grace is alive?

Regent Heungseon is about to announce

a national mourning period.

Her Grace is alive.

I came here to deliver that message.

Can you take it to the palace?

This is Her Grace's letter.

To the palace?

I'm counting on you, Jeonghun.

It's been days since the coup started,

and we don't know if queen is dead or alive?

Do we have to announce a national

mourning period saying that the queen

has passed away?

I'm sorry, Your Majesty!

We've looked all over for her.

Please be patient.

That's enough!

I've wanted to reform this country

while sacrificing my loyal subjects.

I formed Tongri Gimu Amun

and a new style army.

But everything went sour overnight.

Everything that I have built has disappeared.

I don't even know if queen is dead or alive

and I have to go ahead with her funeral.

For what have I worked so hard?

Your Majesty!

What is it?

I brought a letter from Her Grace.

She's in Yeoju

and will move to Chungju soon.

She's unharmed. Don't worry about her.

Are you sure?

I just saw Her Grace in Min Yeongwi's place.

Soldiers?

Byeolgigun soldiers and

Min's private guards were there,

but there aren't many.

We don't have time. Let's go.

Qing's army?

That's the only way we can suppress this coup

and bring Her Grace back to the palace.

Your Majesty,

we shouldn't bring a Qing army to Joseon.

Qing will try to intercept

every single thing we do.

We can't just sit here and do nothing.

His Majesty will lose everything.

The reform of Joseon will end here as well.

If a Qing army comes to Joseon,

we'll never reform this country.

Qing doesn't want Joseon to be strong.

Please understand, Your Majesty!

Your Majesty, this is the only way.

This is the only way to protect

Your Majesty and Her Grace.

Please bring in a Qing army

and suppress this coup.

Sir!

Bringing in a Qing army?

It's a reliable source.

I'm the only one who knows about it.

To save Her Grace,

His Majesty has no choice but go for it.

If that's the case, the coup will fail.

Send someone to your father immediately.

Tell him to abort his current mission

and come back to the capital immediately!

Yes, sir.

It looks like Kim Jwayeong

can control Regent Heungseon.

I think they meet up quite often.

Where is he?

He's still in his own house.

It's been a while since we walked together.

Are you still mad at me?

No, it's not that.

I just didn't know how to bring it up.

Thank you for saving me and Her Grace.

I was so glad to see you there to save us.

If it weren't for you,

Her Grace and I wouldn't have survived.

I did what I had to do as a commander.

Sorry for being cold to you.

I was shocked to find out

that Minister Kim was your father.

I also felt betrayed

that you'd been lying to me all along.

I'm sorry.

I don't know what to say.

However, I began to understand you.

You had to see your father sent into exile

to save me and my father.

I'm sure it must've been harder for you,

abandoned by your own father.

Suin.

When we go back, come back to our place.

I'm sure my father wants you to be near him.

I want us to be like old times.

I want to talk about the world

and the reform of our country.

What's going on?

You?

Yes, it's me.

I'm not Yamamoto, a Japanese merchant,

but Park Yungang, Park Jinhan's son.

Are you the one who took the covenant

and ran away a few days ago?

That's right.

The covenant is in His Majesty's hands.

You have no way out of this.

Regent Heungseon is in the palace.

The world has changed,

and a covenant like that can't harm me.

Shut up!

If you're not punished under the law,

I'll do it myself.

Why are you doing this?

Drop your gun.

I have to ask you this before I kill you.

Why did you do it?

Why did you want my father dead?

Why did you frame my father as a traitor?

Tell me! Now!

I did it for our country.

Without sacrifice,

we can't keep order in our society.

Order?

What is this order that you're talking about?

The order to make you stronger?

The order to make you nobles richer?

I'm sorry. Forgive me.

If you spare my life,

I'll reclaim your father's honor.

I'll clear his name.

I won't forgive you.

I won't let villains like you

ruin my life anymore.

I'll punish you now.

I will end you and the Conservatives.

Why my new audiophile cable won't sound better - Duration: 11:08.

Often people clearly state that higher sampling rates, expensive cables and other refinements

to their stereo don't lead to a better sound.

And they probably are right too: they don't hear a difference.

Then why do all kinds of people - including myself - say tweaks work?

Let me start with the obvious: a number of these tweaks frankly are BS.

Which ones, you might ask.

Well, I don't know.

My mission statement is to bring proper music reproduction to the people.

In general this means that I do tutorials and reviews and these reviews should always

be of use to a wider public, seeking for better sound.

That is a full time job and if I had to review all kinds of tweaks and cables that according

to some work fine while are rubbish to others, that would be a bad time investment.

Cables might be different.

Although there also are snake oil sellers, there are also people that by trial and error

develop cables that work fine in their test setup for they compensate for shortcomings

already present in that setup.

I use cables by - in alphabetical order - AudioQuest, Crystal Cable, Grimm Audio, Kimber and Transparent.

All well respected brands, chosen since I could try them out - which admittedly is somewhat

easier for me than for you.

That doesn't mean that other brands automatically are of less quality.

If you want to try a cable, ask your dealer if you can buy it and return it if it doesn't

live up to the expectations.

If you keep the product and the packaging fresh, there are dealers that will do that.

Sometimes even a manufacturer has special try-before-you-buy cables.

If the investment doesn't offer improvements, don't spend the money.

There are some big BUTs though.

Tweaking a stereo is like refining the cooking process for a delicate dish.

You should start with fresh ingredients, use the right pots and pans, make sure you got

your timing right, taste every step in the process and have a developing or developed

pallet.

Every step in the process should be perfect to get a dish cooked to perfection.

If you buy fresh, fine tuna but ruin it by using margarine in stead of oil, have the

pan too hot and leave it in for too long, you'll end up with sad tuna.

It's the same when tweaking a stereo.

I have made a series called Audio Hygiene that describes a number of steps for improvement

of your stereo, so I'll give you the general approach here.

It basically is rather simple: you don't want the audio signal to be degraded anywhere

in the path from the source to your ears.

Of course, your equipment should have the lowest of low distortion.

Wright?

It should have a ruler flat frequency response.

Right?

And the lowest of low noise.

Right?

Well, that would be nice, but not at any price.

Cartridge manufacturer Ortofon already concluded in the previous century that having a good

phase behaviour should have preference over a ruler flat frequency respons.

And some large consumer electronics manufacturers chased ultra low distortion figures in the

eighties since managers can explain a lower distortion figure to their superiors but not

a better sound.

So they built amps that had rigorous overall feedback designs giving very low distortion

figures but also gave time smearing that killed details.

That - by the way - illustrates the difference between the big consumer electronics companies

and specialised audio brands.

Although the big companies sometimes can surprise you with a very good sounding device - often

for the chief designer had a private quest for quality and managed to sell the design

choices to the management.

Specialised audio brand often have very consistent audio quality, although they do have the occasional

lemon too, of curse.

And there are also specialist audio brands - although limited in numbers - that perform

poorly throughout but manage to hype their brand.

One has to conclude that it is impossible for the average consumer to choose the right

equipment based on objective data.

There are some ways around this.

One is if you have a friend that has a good sounding stereo.

That could be a starting point for you.

Another is watching and reading reviews and base your choices on those.

The third option is to find a dealer of good reputation and have him advise you.

What approach will fit you best, depends on your preferences and budget.

Let's assume you now have good equipment at home and you want to gradually bring it

to a higher level by, for instance, choosing better cables.

You order a set of interlinks and don't hear any improvement.

What's going on?

Was it the wrong choice of cables?

Well, that might be.

But it might also be that it is a good cable that will improve your stereo.

¿Que?

Remember what I said about cooking the Tuna?

If you use a tuna that is not fresh, the result of a high quality baking oil won't be that

clear when compared to cheap oil.

So what you should do ideally is the following:

Start by removing all equipment and remove all cabling.

Then only place back the equipment that is essential for the reproduction of music.

So don't place back that room corrector, equalizer or any other gear that is not essential.

Make sure the equipment is on sturdy, resonance free furniture.

Devices that have mechanics, like a CD-player or turntable should be placed on a level surface.

If you can, choose the furniture so that you can separate the interconnects and loudspeaker

cable from the power cords.

Even better is if you could create distance between all three groups.

Also keep in mind that the equipment still is placed practical so it can be used easily.

Now it's time to reconnect the cabling.

First connect the power cords after checking the equipment is switched off.

Connect all equipment to the same socket box to lower the risk of earth potential problems.

These power cords are first on the list to be replaced by audiophile cables, as you can

see in Part 1 of Audio Hygiene.

In part 2 you can see that the polarity of the power plugs can make a difference, depending

on where you live.

If you want to check that, do it before you take the following step: connecting the interlink

or interlinks.

Finally - after checking again your amp is switched off - the loudspeaker cables.

These are the cables that I would replace by audio grade cables after the power cables.

The digital interconnect would be the next and finally the analogue interconnects.

Why?

I have written a complete chapter on why cables can differ in my book File Based Audio aka

Streaming Audio, so there is much to tell.

But the most essential factor is the influence of magnetic stray fields between cables.

110 to 230 volts at one or two amps gives a nice strong interference on all cables close

by and cheap cables have very poor shielding, let alone a construction that helps there

too.

So you want the power cords to radiate as little interference and that is one of the

main qualities of audiophile cables.

You now also understand why only that last one or two meters can make a difference despite

that cheap installation wire is used in your walls.

It now is important to take your time for loudspeaker placement.

That starts with watching my Loudspeaker placement video.

Don't try to be smarter than needed.

Just do what the video tels you to do and you should be able to obtain a good result.

If you have equipment left, hide it away for now.

More equipment than needed wil always degrade the sound quality.

Keep It Simple Stupid!

If you used electronics to 'repair' acoustic problems, fist try to get it sound well without

the magic boxes since there is no such thing as magic.

Robert Ingersol said it already in the 19th century: in nature there is no reward nor

punishment, there are consequences.

You can only go for the right consequences if you know them.

Therefore first start with an optimised minimal stereo and go from there.

But take at least two weeks between each and every step.

That way your auditory system has time to evaluate what has happened.

If you doubt, go one step back.

Often you won't like the previous situation but if you do.

take another road from there.

And if you have questions, post them below this video so everyone can learn from it and

your question will not get lost in the large amounts of mails I get.

The Tragic Life of JFK's Sister - Duration: 8:18.

On January 20, 1961, the newly-elected President John F. Kennedy, at his inauguration in front

of the Capital, told Americans to "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what

you can do for your country."

Over 800 miles away, in Jefferson, Wisconsin in an institution called "St. Coletta School

for Exceptional Children" lived a 43 year old woman, who perhaps was listening to the

address on the radio.

Her name was Rosemary Kennedy and she was President Kennedy's little sister.

Rose Marie ("Rosemary") Kennedy, born on September 13, 1918, was the third child

and first daughter for Joe and Rose Kennedy.

No source could quite pinpoint why Rose Marie had issues, but they were apparent very early

on.

As we now know, there can be several factors/reasons for development disorders – genetic, infection,

exposure to environmental toxins, and other complications.

Rosemary's mother claimed several times that the nurses, due to the tardiness of the

doctor, tried to halt her labor, injuring the baby in the process.

Even early in life, accounts describe Rosemary to be "slower to crawl, slower to walk and

speak than her two bright brothers."

She had a hard time "eating with a spoon and steering her sled."

In first grade, she was having difficulty keeping up in school.

Despite all of this, many signs point to her having an otherwise happy, fulfilling life

as a child and teen, participating and remaining active as a part of the wealthy and well-known

family.

She was described as beautiful, sweet, great company, and loquacious, and, as put in Laurence

Leamer's well-known book, The Kennedy Women: The Saga of an American Family, Rosemary was

"a picturesque young woman, a snow princess with flush cheeks, gleaming smile, plump figure,

and a sweetly ingratiating manner to almost everyone she met."

Her parents reported to several media outlets (who were always requesting interviews and

information about the Kennedy kids) that she was training to be a Kindergarten teacher

and that she "has an interest in social welfare work, she is said to harbor a secret

longing to go on the stage."

In fact, Rosemary kept a diary during this time that was only uncovered in 1995.

The diary is thought to cover 1936 through 1938, when Rosemary was 18 to 20 years old.

She describes trips, riding horses, dances, spending time with family, teas, and even

a meeting with King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

In 1938, the whole Kennedy clan took a trip to England and was presented in front of the

royal couple.

As Joe Kennedy said at the time (recounted in the diary), "Rose, this is a hell of

a long way from East Boston."

Rosemary, along with her sisters, performed the rather complicated royal curtsey.

By all indications, Rosemary had a fantastic time – though Leamer reports that Rosemary

nearly tripped and fell when presented.

The diary, itself, was written in simple, short prose, but not unlike what you would

read in a teen girl's diary today:

"Went to luncheon in the ballroom in the White House.

James Roosevelt took us in to see his father, President Roosevelt.

He said, 'It's about time you came.

How can I put my arm around all of you?

Which is the oldest?

You are all so big.'"

This diary entries have led some historians and Kennedy biographers to believe that Rosemary

may not have had a severe developmental disorder, or at least not as severe as is often claimed.

There are theories that she had simple dyslexia (based on certain signs of it in her writing),

a learning disability, or depression (as will be described in a moment, she had severe mood

swings when she got older).

More nefariously, several books claim that Joe Kennedy didn't like that she was "unlady

like," "sexually active," and "at times, unhappy."

Whatever the case, in 1941, it seemed Rosemary's normal good-natured demeanor changed.

In her mother, Rose Kennedy's, memoirs, she describes "noticeable regression in

the mental skills that she (Rosemary) worked so hard to obtain" and "her customary

good nature gave way increasingly to tension and irritability."

She was known to run away and Rose described her as being violent; "Since she was so

strong, her blows were quite hard."

That same year, Joe consulted with doctors to try and find a way to help his daughter

(though some more nefariously speculate that he was simply worried about Rosemary embarrassing

the family) and came upon a "promising" new procedure developed by Portuguese physician

Antonio Moniz called a "leucotomy" or known today as a lobotomy.

It was seen as a last resort for those suffering from extreme psychiatric disorders, giving

the patient a "hope for contentment."

The theory was that by severing the nerve connections to and from the prefrontal lobe,

it would "fix" certain mental illness, depression, and a host of other developmental

disorders.

Of course, by doing this, it potentially sacrificed the patient's personality and some level

of their intellect; but, at the time, the potential benefits were often seen to outweigh

the potential drawbacks due to the lack of other viable treatments for possibly severe

mental disorders.

In the 1940s, performing lobotomies wasn't on the fringes of science either.

In fact, Moniz won a Nobel Prize in 1949 "for his discovery of the therapeutic value of

leucotomy in certain psychoses".

In November 1941, Joe Kennedy had a lobotomy performed on Rosemary at George Washington

Hospital by Dr. James Watts and Dr. Walter Freeman, who was a US advocate for the procedure

and called it "soul surgery".

Joe made this choice, apparently, without approval from Rose (she would later say she

was never consulted).

As for the procedure, one of the surgeons stated, "We went through the top of the

head…

She had a mild tranquilizer.

I made a surgical incision in the brain through the skull.

It was near the front.

It was on both sides.

We just made a small incision, no more than an inch…

We put an instrument inside…"

At which point they began making blunt cuts of her brain with a butter-knife like object.

They finally stopped destroying her brain when she became incoherent and no longer could

respond to questions they asked her

While the surgery did make her docile, it also resulted in her being unable to speak,

walk, or communicate really at all.

It also rendered her incontinent and significantly diminished her previous mental capacity.

(She was much later in life able to recover some motor skills, such as the ability to

walk with the help of a walker).

Needless to say, Joe Kennedy was crushed.

The procedure that was supposed to help his daughter ultimately left her, for all intents

and purposes, completely incapacitated.

After spending seven years at a hospital in New York, she was sent to St. Coletta in Wisconsin

where "she would be better off for her own sake and ours if she went to a home where

she would be with people of her own mental capacity."

When Rosemary went to Wisconsin in 1949, it was said that Joe Kennedy never visited nor

saw his oldest daughter ever again.

He passed away in 1969.

Rose paid her a visit once a year, as did some of the children.

Initially, Joe and Rose told reporters that Rosemary was "teaching retarded children

in Wisconsin and wanted to live a secluded life."

Rose would later tell renown biographer Doris Kearns Goodwin that she never forgave Joe

for allowing the surgery to be performed on Rosemary, "It is the only thing I ever felt

bitter towards him about."

As for John F. Kennedy's own relationship to his sister, during the campaign, it was

claimed she was "too busy" to make public appearances.

It was only after JFK's election in 1961 that they acknowledged that Rosemary was "mentally

retarded."

On October 31, 1963, the President signed the Mental Health Work Bill, attempting to

free patients from lives stuck in institutions.

While never explicitly stated, this may been inspired by his sister Rosemary.

This was the last bill ever signed by JFK.

In 1962, Eunice wrote a heartfelt and, at the time, incredibly open article about her

sister published in several magazines.

She never mentions the failed lobotomy, but says that her family (mostly referring to

her mother) did the best they could with Rosemary.

She called her sweet, beautiful, and talks about the sadness they had in the family for

her, acknowledging that she was "mentally retarded" and "keeping a retarded child

at home is difficult."

Eunice Shriver Kennedy would continue to talk about Rosemary the rest of her life and would

create the Special Olympics in dedication to her sister.

Rosemary Kennedy lived until she was 86 years old and passed away January 7, 2005 in Fort

Atkinson, Wisconsin.
