EP069 - Martian Manhunter - Duration: 5:47.

[Main Theme]

Hello everyone!

And welcome to another all-new episode of MajestiComic.

Today's character is arguably the most underappreciated member of the original Justice League in DC

Comics.

Everyone remembers Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, but what about the Martian Manhunter?

This character came all the way from Mars and devotes his life to keeping Earth safe.

He often acted as a stand-in for Superman during the early days of the Justice League,

as the two have similar abilities.

In fact, in spite of the fact that Superman is the most popular and supposedly most powerful

character in the DC Universe, Martian Manhunter's powers are reportedly even more powerful.

Superman himself has said that he would not like to get into a one-on-one battle with

him because quote: ""He is the most powerful being on the face of the Earth."

So who is this Martian Manhunter, exactly?

How did he get to Earth from Mars, and why is he here?

Let's take a look at his origin story and find out.

Created by Joseph Samachson and Joe Certa, The Martian Manhunter made his first appearance

in DC Comics in 1955, in a back-up story called "The Strange Experiment of Dr. Erdel."

Dr. Erdel was a scientist experimenting with a new form of communications device, and he

somehow managed to use that device to cause a Martian named J'onn J'onzz to teleport

to Earth.

When this hulking, seven-foot-tall green creature from another planet appeared in front of him,

Dr. Erdel was so shocked that his heart gave out and he died, trapping J'onn J'onzz

on Earth until his fellow Martians could come up with the technology to bring him back.

Since he is stuck on Earth for the time being, J'onzz decides to make the best of it by

assuming a human alias and becoming a detective named John Jones from the totally legitimate

sounding town of Middletown, USA.

In spite of the sinister-sounding moniker, a Martian Manhunter was actually just a Martian

charged with keeping the peace in his community on Mars.

Jones had dedicated his life to helping others and keeping them safe, so that is exactly

what he did on Earth.

Using his powers of telepathy, flight, super healing, and a host of other incredible abilities,

John Jones soon became the hero Earth needed – even if he wasn't even from Earth.

Throughout the rest of the 50s and 60s, the Martian Manhunter fought everything from criminals

and gangsters and thugs to aliens and supernatural beings.

In the seventies, though, Martian Manhunter went back to Mars, and practically disappeared

from the pages of DC Comics.

He left the Justice League, which he had joined when it first began in 1960, and only came

back for occasional cameos so that the other more quote-unquote popular characters could

shine.

In the eighties, though, he came back, and was a member of the Justice League once more.

He was especially influential after the Crisis on Infinite Earths event in 1984, and crossed

over into several other characters' storylines.

He was also often seen as the leader of Justice League International, a more comedic comic

team composed of lesser-known superheroes that was well-loved by Justice League fans

when most of the core Justice League members like Superman and Wonder Woman were tied up

in other storylines.

He eventually got his own solo line as well, but this was canceled when DC began to have

more and more Crisis events.

Martian Manhunter disappeared from comics again, but when he came back, his storyline

was more about being an alien in a human world, and more about his desire for promoting acceptance

and equality among human beings.

Beginning with 2011's New 52, Martian Manhunter is now more aggressive, although he is still

seen as a quote "warrior-poet" type character – tough on the outside, but soft and emotionally

deep on the inside.

If you are a fan of the CW series Supergirl, you might be more familiar with a different

origin story for the Martian Manhunter.

Like many DC characters, John Jones has been given more than one set of beginnings.

In another one of these origin stories, J'onn J'onzz lost his beloved wife and daughter

when his brother, whose name I won't even try to pronounce, went mad and created a plague

to destroy the entire planet of Mars.

J'onn was the sole survivor, and wandered the Earth for years, lost and driven nearly

to madness himself.

Eventually, he used his powers of shape-shifting to become a human himself, and to assimilate

himself into a community of humans, who made him feel less lost and alone.

In this version, he still became John Jones and he still fought crime as the Martian Manhunter,

but he also witnessed the crash-landing of Superman's ship in Kansas.

Knowing that this being was from another planet, he kept an eye on the baby Kryptonian as he

grew up, even going so far as to shapeshift into an employee on the Kent's family ranch

when Clark Kent was a child.

This proves how much of an influence the Martian Manhunter had behind the scenes of many of

DC Comics' most important stories, but yet we still can't explain why when one thinks

of the Justice League, they rarely think of this brave, noble Manhunter from Mars.

What are your thoughts on this?

Do you like the Martian Manhunter as a character, or do you find him to be somewhat forgettable?

Until next time.

Why Persona 5 MIGHT be the best JRPG I've played. - Duration: 4:13.

Persona 5 won RPG of the Year at the Game Awards.

(Insert 5 second clip) And that's all the fanfare it got.

Fuck the Game Awards.

"Fuck you!"

Not only did you run through the award fast as all hell, you didn't even give the rest

of the nominations so much as a name drop.

Now look, I wasn't really expecting much from P5 - and that's exactly why it pisses

me off that it got glossed over.

If I had little faith in it and almost passed it up, I'm sure plenty of others have missed

out on this gem and it could use ALL the exposure that it can get.

I honestly felt like it's the best JRPG I've played in years.

Heck, possibly ever.

So, here's the reasons I feel Persona 5 is the best JRPG I've played in years.

Heck, possibly ever.

Number One: Realism

I know it's ridiculous to say a game with a talking cat that transforms into a van is

realistic, but stay with me a bit.

A lot of JRPGs feel like the most generic, cookie cutter anime that gets blasted at you

by crunchyroll and it's because they lack any real grit.

Oh wow, this guy who shops at Hot Topic wants to destroy the world?

Saturday morning cartoon bullshit.

Meanwhile, the first major villain you get in Persona 5 is this delusional school coach

who diddles the kids he's mentoring and while the faculty cover it up because of his

Olympic status.

It's ironic that a demi-God with a hard on for large scale destruction has infinitely

less impact than a small scale authority figure abusing ordinary people, but it's also the

truth.

These characters aren't complex, but they are reflected in reality.

Number Two: Gameplay Loop

If there's one thing JRPGs have always, well, pretty much completely sucked at, it's

the gameplay loop.

It's usually straight up awful.

Take a few steps, get into a fight.

Best strategy for most fights?

Mash Attack until it's dead because it's no real challenge.

Move along.

Get to the next town.

Buy the best equipment you can afford, then go to the next dungeon, rinse and repeat.

Almost every aspect of this is done better with Persona 5.

No random encounters and a good chunk of battles - not all, but some - can be bypassed entirely

with the pseudo-stealth system.

When you actually do get into a fight, you can't just mash through it without taking

a huge risk.

With the way weaknesses works, one bad hit could lead to an early grave because it gives

the enemy an extra turn.

However, you can do the same thing, exploiting enemy weaknesses to end fights practically

before they start.

Tons of mechanics are in place to make boring encounters end quicker so that you can spend

more time on the interesting ones.

It's not just the battles that have better gameplay, but more on that coming up.

Number Three: Characters

The one thing that JRPGs do, typically, excel at.

Like, the stories are generic and the gameplay is bland, but people tend to get pretty attached

to the characters.

I don't even like Final Fantasy yet there's still characters that I adore from those games.

This game lets you kill time with the characters that you like.

This is actually turned into a gameplay mechanic as it gives you rewards based on those characters.

The time management sub-game this brings about makes it where breaks from dungeon crawling

can be just as fun if not more so.

You will get attached to at least a few of these characters, and that attachment is what's

going to keep you moving through this game's rare low points.

I've seen quite a few players ignore the "real" part of the game entirely just

to focus on the socializing - which is not a good idea, but it shows how addictive they

made it.

A lot of people praise this game for the soundtrack and artstyle while glossing over the rest.

I can't exactly blame them, they're both pretty freaking great, but there is more to

the game than that.

Almost everything about the game is solid gold.

Sure, there's things that could have been handled better, I could talk at great length

about my problems with the traitor, issues with the RNG, a lot of meaningless dialogue

choices, how some dungeons had wasted potential, how the sidearms never got a real chance to

shine and other nitpicks - but they are, all said, nitpicks.

This is a game that was robbed of the limelight and really deserved it.

So, I've been trying to play as many heavy hitter games - as well as games that slipped

under the radar - for a best games of 2017 video.

I think I'm gonna go with the YMS approach, and have my video come out further along into

2018.

There's just way too many great games that came out this year for me to just crap out

a video before this year is over.

If there's any games you think I should consider, lemme know in the comments.

Thanks for watch guys, I'll see ya around.

TV-TWO.COM | PRODUCT DEMO - Duration: 3:05.

Let's see how TV-TWO works. With me, I have a Samsung television with the TV-TWO

app installed and running on Testnet. When I start the app for the first time,

I have two different options. For those who are new to cryptocurrencies, they can create

a login and a password for the TV-TWO platform. On the platform you get a

cloud hosted wallet that makes it really easy to store your Tokens for Television

or TTV and manage your funds.

For everybody else, you can create a local

wallet right here on your TV. I can then go ahead, use an app like I imToken, scan

the QR code from the screen and sync the wallet to my cell phone.

What this does is, it reads the 12-word passphrase. I click on start importing,

here in imToken and in a matter of seconds the wallet is synced. I can do exactly

the same thing on my desktop using MetaMask. I just take the twelve words from

the TV screen. So that's: horn, base, toast, spot, member, object,

trend, clinic, loud, story, olive, local. Click on

OK. And we have the account right here as well. Now it's time to lean back, watch TV, and

earn some cryptocurrencies.

I don't really want to watch this show. I can just press OK and I get to

my very own personal video stream that is optimized towards my viewing patterns.

This is a great example. This is a trailer: Ready Player One.

And the great thing about this one is that it is a sponsored video. So I'm earning TTV

while watching this trailer. I can just pause, play, fast-forward, and if I don't

want to see this trailer anymore, I can also skip to the next video.

This looks like drone footage from a small creator in Italy

and this shows the great thing about the whole TV-TWO ecosystem. What is happening

right now on the television, with the newly created

wallet, is that I've donated some of the tokens that have earned from advertisers

to the small content creator, to finances his great work. Let's look at two

transactions that we've just done here, on Etherscan. We just go into

MetaMask to View Account on Etherscan. I can see the token transfers right here.

The first one shows the tokens that I got from the advertiser and the second

transaction is out to the content creator. In the next version of the app

we'll use state channel technology in order to speed up these transactions,

reduce transaction costs, and show the live balance on the TV in real time as

well. With the remaining balance, I can go over to a platform like EtherDelta and

trade these tokens for Ether.
