Why Google makes Android phone notches now - Duration: 3:31.

Why Google makes Android phone notches now

Still resisting the notch fever sweeping phone designs these days? Give it up. The Android P beta, a build meant for app developers that anyone is free to download and use, supports not one, but three different notch designs.

Theres the central Cycloptic notch we find in phones like the iPhone X, Huawei P20, LG G7 and Essential Phone, twin notches on the top and bottom, and, horrifyingly, a notch design for the right corner.

Relax, this doesnt necessarily mean every phone will have a notched look. It means that Google is preparing to help apps work seamlessly on phones that do come with those designs.

The operating systems not pro or against notches, said Dave Burke, VP of Android engineering, in an interview with CNET at last weeks Google I/O conference.

Its just reality that notches are appearing on hardware and that apps dont break and that phone designers can make use of the space well..

As to why the hardware industry is adding notches to phones, well, thats easy. Phonemakers want to stretch the screen from edge to edge, so they can give you more screen to play with while keeping handset size in check.

Thats the holy grail, Burke said. Chasing the edge-to-edge screen dream is hardly a fools errand, but phonemakers do run smack into the problem of where to put electronics.

That selfie camera has to go somewhere on the front, and if it isnt on the phone face, youre looking at mechanical parts like this bizarre and problematic (but fun!) concept camera that mechanically pops up like a slice of toast.

You have to deal with pragmatic realities, Burke said.

But Googles Android team doesnt think notches are going to upset people for too long. Burke says over a thousand Google employees tested early Android P software internally on their Pixel and Pixel 2 phones.

Over time, Googlers reported that they grew so used to the cutout, they stopped noticing it even existed. Our brains are pretty plastic and get used to notches, Burke said. They dont even see them after a while..

Note: If you are interested in the Android P beta software, youll need the right phone. Be aware too that its unfinished software, so I wouldnt do this on your primary device.

Trump's New German Ambassador Offends Entire Country HOURS After Getting The Job - Duration: 3:19.

It's never easy starting a new job.

I mean anybody who's ever had to go and start a new job in the United States, you probably

make a few mistakes in your first couple weeks.

You don't quite know where the coffee machine is.

Things are a little rough.

But when you're a member of the Trump administration, it's even worse, because these aren't just

jobs where it's, "Oh, I misplaced that spreadsheet.

I'll find it later."

No, these are jobs where you have to go out and represent the United States to the rest

of the world.

When you screw up, even if it's your first day, it's a big deal.

Richard Grenell, the newly appointed Donald Trump ambassador to Germany, found that out

this past week.

Grenell, hours after accepting the position of the new US ambassador to Germany, just

hours after he became the ambassador, sends out a tweet saying the following: German companies

doing business in Iran should wind down operations immediately.

It seems innocuous enough, right?

Well, it's really not, because as it turns out, something that people in the Trump administration

don't seem to understand, the rest of the planet seemed to like the Iran deal that the

US just pulled out of.

That's what Grenell's tweet was in response to.

He's now the ambassador to Germany, so he wanted to let them know, "Hey, we've pulled

out of this thing, so you need to stop doing business with this country even though you

haven't pulled out of it.

You're keeping your part of the bargain.

So is Iran.

We're not, so you shouldn't."

Well, obviously the whole country of Germany gets pissed off at this guy, again hours after

he took the job, and now we're alienating yet another ally of the United States because

we're trying to tell them what to do with a guy who was on the job for so short of a

time that he probably never even took a bathroom break before he sent the tweet.

That's the kind of level of incompetency and idiocy that we are dealing with with the Trump

administration.

You can't just go around bossing around every other country in the world.

We don't run them.

We don't own them.

We don't owe them anything, and they owe us nothing.

That's how this works.

You can't tell them what to do, especially when you were the ones, Trump administration,

that pulled us out of a multinational agreement with the country of Iran.

We fucked up.

Not them.

Not Germany.

We did.

Well, you did, and Grenell did the same with his tweet.

Yet here they are, sitting there acting like they've got the moral high ground to tell

these other countries what their businesses can or cannot do.

Grenell is lucky that leaders in Germany were able to calm down the business leaders by

telling them, "Relax.

Don't listen to him.

He's an idiot," basically, but that's what the rest of the world thinks of us now, and

it is 100% because of the crap that Donald Trump has pulled and the incompetence that

he has brought to the office of the presidency.

TONY: Harley, tell me what's happening. Give me a full report.

Yeah, I'm still eating that candy. Do you want me to keep eating it?

- How much have you had? - Two or three bowls.

- Can you still see straight? - Sort of.

That means you're fine. Give me Jarvis.

Jarvis, how are we?

JARVIS: It's totally fine, sir. I seem to do quite well for a stretch,

and then at the end of the sentence I say the wrong cranberry.

And, sir, you were right.

Once I factored in available AIM down/ink facilities

I was able to pinpoint the Mandarin's broadcast signal.

What are we talking? Far East, Europe, North Africa,

Iran, Pakistan, Syria? Where is it?

Actually, sir, it's in Miami.

Okay, kid, I'm gonna have to walk you through

rebooting Jarvis's speech drive,

but not right now.

Harley, where is he really?

Just look on the screen and tell me where it is.

Um, it does say Miami, Florida.

Okay, first things first, I need the armour. Where are we at with it?

Uh, it's not charging.

(TYRES SCREECHING)

(BREATHING HEAVILY)

JARVIS: Actually, sir, it is charging, but the power source is questionable.

It may not succeed in revitalising the Mark 42.

What's questionable about electricity? All right?

It's my suit, and I can't... I'm not gonna... I don't wanna... (BREATHING HEAVILY)

Oh, God, not again.

HARLEY: - Tony? (GASPING)

Are you having another attack?

I didn't even mention New York.

Right, and then you just said it by name while denying having said it.

Okay, um, uh...

(PANTING)

God, what am I gonna do?

Just breathe. Really, just breathe.

You're a mechanic, right?

Right.

You said so.

Yes, I did.

Why don't you just build something?

Okay.

Thanks, kid.

REAL.video The pro-liberty answer to YouTube censorship is now less than 60 days away from launch - Duration: 5:17.

REAL.video The pro-liberty answer to YouTube censorship is now less than 60 days away from

launch

by: Mike Adams

REAL.video is launching in less than 60 days. Its a free YouTube alternative that

protects free speech and provides video content creators with a platform to participate in

news, conversations and public debate. Notably, YouTube, Google, Facebook and Twitter are

now aggressively banning all conservative speech, somehow believing that diversity

is achieved through the censorship of opposing views.

REAL.video is a robust video platform thats free for everyone to use. We have committed

over $1 million to this project so far, and its being built on a video infrastructure

that can readily support over one billion video views per month. Users will be able

to embed video players on their blogs and websites, and videos play seamlessly across

multiple mobile devices and platforms due to dynamic bit-rate video delivery and intelligent

video transcoding.

Just like with YouTube, you will be able to upload videos, manage videos, share videos,

see how many views and likes theyre getting and more. (Video sharing will start out with

more traditional shares such as FB, but we are quickly moving it over to GAB, Diaspora

and other alternative share sites.) Video comments are also supported on each play page.

But unlike YouTube, REAL.video does not spy on its users. Theres no tracking of user

video views, search terms or other metrics. All users view all videos anonymously.

Video content creators who will be using REAL.video include Next News Network, the Grow Network

(a food channel), InfoWars, SGT Report, Pete Santilli, Natural News, The Gateway Pundit

and literally thousands of others. We are only activating a few hundred content channels

on launch day in order to test the robustness of the system, but before the end of July,

we plan to have thousands of channels active. (NOTE: If you find any of the people or organizations

listed above to be controversial, launch your own channel and straighten us all out!)

Watch my video here for full details about the launch of REAL.video, and visit REAL.video

now to request a video content channel. (We will start approving and opening channels

for video uploads starting mid-June.)

New revenue opportunity for video content creators

REAL.video doesnt pay video content creators based on views, but an entire e-commerce store

called Shop.Real.Video will be launched with the system, and all content creators

can easily opt-in to the e-commerce back-end to earn affiliate revenues on purchases of

the products we offer, ranging from nutrition and superfoods to preparedness gear. When

you opt in, a shop now button appears below your videos, and all clicks through

that button earn you affiliate revenues on all purchases, without exception.

Launching with this program is some new gear, including a new combat knife, an anti-radiation

water filter, a new organic storable food meal kit and much more. We are also actively

seeking to partner with other gear providers to carry their products in our ever-expanding

store. (If you are a product manufacturer, reach out to us via the advertising email

contact on REAL.video.)

This is all supported by a massive new e-commerce fulfillment infrastructure weve built over

the last two years, with a new, climate-controlled warehouse, new offices, a huge e-commerce

software upgrade and new fulfillment lines that can now handle 400% greater order fulfillment

capacity than what we were previously limited to.

REAL.video is roughly 60 days away. We are aiming for a July 4th launch, give or take

a few days for last-minute quality control changes to the system. Video uploads for approved

accounts will be opened up in the last half of June.

Request your content channel now at REAL.video. Most importantly, those of you who are getting

banned by YouTube, please SAVE all your video files so you can upload them to REAL.video,

which will be an important video repository for speech thats being banned almost everywhere

else.

REAL.video position statement on guns and firearms

Ive also posted a position statement that covers the topic of guns and firearms on REAL.video.

Watch it here:

CIA Agent Issues Painful Challenge To Hateful Whoopi Who Went To Far Show Us How It's Done - Duration: 7:32.

CIA Agent Issues Painful Challenge To Hateful Whoopi Who Went To Far Show Us How It's

Done.

his week the "Terrorism Expert" who is Whoopi Goldberg just couldn't keep her big

yapper shut on her show "The View."

So what's new?

Goldberg and her fellow overpaid "Yentas" on The View just had to feel self-important

by discussing the CIA director nominee Gina Haspel.

Notice how Goldberg challenges President Trump and even former Vice President Dick Cheney

by saying, "I would like [President Trump] to try you have never been tortured and neither

has [former Vice President] Dick Cheney," To which of course the daughter of the ailing

traitor who gave us Obamacare forever even though he rabidly campaigned against it, John

McCain just couldn't help but add her two cents worth by saying, Dick Cheney had 5 deferments

and that we have to be better than the enemy.

But the best part happened this morning when Dr. James Mitchell, who helped develop the

CIA enhanced interrogation program and interrogated 9, 11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was

on Fox News and had a chance to respond to these "experts" on The View.

Michell correctly pointed to the fact that maybe Goldberg could show us how it's done.

And added that Goldberg is just "value signaling" and "preening" in front of an audience,

who is friendly to her in order to show moral superiority.

All this showboating by the "characters" on The View has come about because the far

left liberal Senator from California Kamala Harris asked CIA director nominee Gina Haspel,

this week during her Senate confirmation hearing if torture does work during interrogation.

A point which Mitchell added is an "irrelevant waste of time," because Congress voted to

ban enhanced interrogation techniques like waterboarding back in 2015.

This is all just another strike at President Trump.

Anyone here recalls Goldberg, McCain, or any of the other overpaid yappers taking Obama

to task over his overuse of deadly drone strikes?

Here is more on the waterboarding ban via CSN News:

"Although President Obama has prohibited the use of waterboarding in interrogating

captured al Qaeda terrorists, the Defense Department will not say whether it has stopped

using waterboarding in its training of certain U.S. military personnel, as was discussed

in a 2002 government memo made public last week.

One of the previously classified Justice Department memos detailing CIA interrogation techniques,

that was released by Obama last week revealed that waterboarding was routinely used in the

training some U.S. military personnel.

The waterboarding took place in the SERE program, an acronym for "Survival, Evasion, Resistance,

Escape."

The formerly classified memos were prepared by the Justicie Department to advise, the

CIA on the legality of "enhanced techniques" of interrogation that included waterboarding.

An August 2002 memo on CIA interrogation tactics used on some captured al Qaeda terrorists

said, the "same techniques" continued to be used on some U.S. military personnel

during SERE training.

Those "same techniques" included waterboarding, according to the memo.

The memo further stated that waterboarding had a "near 100 percent" effectiveness

rate in extracting information from trainees, while no soldiers were harmed physically or

psychologically by it.

Other techniques included slapping, dietary limitations, sleep deprivation and confinement

in small rooms.

Critics of the interrogation techniques, including President Barack Obama, have called such techniques

torture.

"The mission [of SERE] is to train military members to survive an isolation event,"

said Kathleen Jabs, spokeswoman for the U.S. Joint Forces Command, the division of the

Defense Department that oversees the SERE program.

"It could be a full range of things."

When asked whether the training techniques have changed to eliminate waterboarding since

the 2002 memo was written, Jabs told CNSNews.com: "The training model they use, they base

on scientific research and sound training principles.

You have to adequately prepare military personnel for what could happen if they are captured."

However, she would not specify whether waterboarding is still used on troops during training.

"If we start going down a road of specifics is this training used, is that training used

there's just a lot of things due to classification they don't talk about," she said.

Jabs said she did not know specifically whether training techniques were classified information.

"Still, it's singling out one particular type of training," she said.

"If we answer one question, it sort of starts chipping away.

So to be consistent with what we do, we don't talk about specifics.

Anything that anybody can read to know what we are doing or not doing, could potentially

jeopardize the training they are doing."

The 2002 memo specifically said the U.S. Navy still uses waterboarding during SERE training

but that other military branches have stopped using the technique.

"You have informed us that your on-site psychologists, who have extensive experience

with the use of the waterboard in Navy training, have not encountered any significant long-term

mental health consequences from its use," the 2002 memo said.

"You have informed us that other services ceased use of the waterboard, because it was

so successful as an interrogation technique but not because of any concerns over any harm,

physical or mental, caused by it," the memo reads.

"It was also reported to be almost 100 percent effective in producing cooperation among trainees."

A SERE trainer of three-and-a-half years cited in the memo said that he trained 10,000 students.

"Of those students, only two dropped out of the training following the use of these

techniques.

Although, on rare occasions some students temporarily postponed the remainder of their

training and received psychological counseling, those students were able to finish the program

without any indication of subsequent mental health effects."

Another trainer of 10 years, cited in the memo, said none of his trainees experienced

mental health problems, except "one person who did not complete the training.

That person experienced an adverse mental health reaction that lasted only two hours."

"Of the 26,829 students trained from 1992 through 2001 in the Air Force SERE training,

4.3 percent of these students had contact with psychology services," the memo states.

"Of those 4.3 percent, only 3.2 percent were pulled from the program for psychological

reasons."

On the sleep deprivation that SERE trainees endured, the memo said, "It is not uncommon

for someone to be deprived for 72 hours and still perform excellent on visual-spatial

motor tasks and short-term memory tasks."

President Obama has banned the use of the interrogation techniques described in the

memos.

The White House did not respond to inquiries Monday, and Tuesday on whether the president

would ban the use of waterboarding during military training as well.

A Justice Department memo of May 30, 2005, released by the Obama administration, revealed

that the CIA, in waterboarding al Qaeda leader Khalid Sheik Mohammed, was able to gather

information that allowed the U.S. government to stop a 9,11 type attack on Los Angeles."

BlocBoy JB on the 'Shoot' Dance, Collabs w/ Drake & A$AP Rocky, & His 'SIMI' Mixtape 💿 | MTV News - Duration: 6:03.

- Simi is my long lost friend.

He the one who told me to keep rapping.

I'm dropping this shit for him,

cause I want everybody to know his name.

He's the one who tell me to do this shit.

Like I wasn't no type of nigga to be dancing

and fucking around and rapping and shit.

I'm more on the skreets, but like one foot in, one foot out.

But he the one that make me put both feet in.

("Shoot" by BlocBoy JB)

- [Holmes] How did you come up with the Shoot dance?

- Basically, just being myself.

Going crazy, doin' dumb shit.

- [Holmes] Did you know that it would change your life,

that video, or that moment?

- Nah, I didn't even know, I just was doing my thing.

I just like to see myself on the video.

I was like, I took it serious but really,

I was like, ain't no way I'm gonna get rich off this shit.

Shit crazy.

("Look Alive" by BlocBoy JB and Drake)

- [Holmes] What's it like getting hit up

by Drake and him being like,

"Yo, I wanna hop, I wanna collaborate."

- That shit lit, it's lit, it's like a dream.

He could have did that to anybody,

and if somebody, they couldn't rap

or they didn't take it serious enough,

to go on in there and just do their thing and be them,

only he would have been like, "Ah."

It would have been just another song

that they played on the radio

and cut my verse off at the end.

He had posted me on his Instagram,

and I had come into 100 like any normal person would do,

you know what I'm sayin'?

And he fucked around and come and take some (bleep) back

in the DM like about 30 minutes or something.

- [Holmes] How did it feel that he came down

to your home town, like where you live,

and you brought him into your world,

instead of the other way around?

- That shit was crazy.

It was really like normal though.

It was like a normal day, just meeting somebody new.

A nigga I always wanted meet, shit don't happen like that.

Shit don't happen like that, too good to be true type shit.

You're thinking something else gonna happen like

when he was on his way, I was thinking like,

oh, what if the plane delayed or anything like

that type shit, just how crazy that shit.

- [Holmes] So I have to ask

about the Green Day shirt in the video.

Are you a fan of Green Day?

- Yeah, I fuck with Green Day.

Yeah, that shit was crazy, I was like,

that shit's like Drake, like unbelievable.

I had look at them to see, and like

"Hold on, is Green Day, is Green Day...

"They just re-posted this shit?"

- [Holmes] How did the collaboration

for Bad Company with A$AP Rocky come about?

- [BlocBoy JB] He was like, "Bro, you gotta do something

like it's mandatory," so he had sent me the beat.

It didn't have nothing on it.

It just was the beat, and he was like,

"Rap about bad company and bad vibes."

And I just went into the studio and just startin' rapping.

And then he like, I sent this to him,

and he was like, "I gotta get through it, like

about three days," that was it, he sent it to me.

And he dropped it like the next week.

- [Holmes] Recently, it was reported

that another great street crip, 03 Greedo,

got 20 years in prison, how'd you feel about that?

Have you ever listened to his music or...

- Yeah, that's my boy, Greedo my boy.

It's like, shit, I just hate

that the po be takin' a nigga's time.

I just hate, and I tell him, I be like,

"Man, you can't give these niggas no time.

"You can't give 'em no time."

Cause, man, them motherfuckers just give me their time,

they ain't never seen your side, the C.O.,

they ain't never see your side.

They just lock a nigga up and give him a year

and just basically on some other shit.

Like they don't give a nigga no chances.

Even though he done this and that,

nigga don't deserve no 20 year.

- [Holmes] On a lighter note, a lot of celebrities

have done the Shoot dance, you know Lil Uzi Vert's done it,

Drake's done it, a lot of people.

Who would you say, besides you,

what celebrity does it the best?

- Ooh, it's a tie, it's a tie.

Cause you got Uzi, he coming, he be coming for a nigga.

And then you got Odell though.

Odell, he got is leg back working so, he cold.

It's a tie, it's a tie.

Pump, proud of him like, I give Pump about uh...

He getting it, he getting it.

He's like about in fourth place, second or fourth place.

Purpp get fourth, Pump get third.

It's just a tie between, if Uz is just taking on,

I don't know who to pick, Uz or Odell.

- [Holmes] This is a nerdy question, but on Nun Of Dat,

you rap, "I'm pullin cards like its Yu-Gi-Oh!"

So I have to ask, did you watch Yu-Gi-Oh! as a kid?

- Yeah, I used to watch Yu-Gi-Oh!

It was on channel 13 when we had no cable.

We had no choice but to watch it.

We wanted to watch a cartoon.

- [Holmes] So I haven't heard the mixtape yet,

but for fans, what can they expect from it?

Cause you know, you can do club records.

You can do street records, you can do party records.

What type of vibe did you set with it?

- Every last thing you said, all type of records, man.

Just beats that be jumpin, and I got some lyrical shit too.

I got some shit that you can just drive your car to.

I got some shit, some, a lot of wordplay in it.

I got a song that's just scrape and wordplay.

It's called Left Right, I like that song.

It's like a song that like put me in my lil' zone.

(upbeat, pop music)

Liverpool 4-0 Brighton: Reds secure top-four finish on final day of the season

Liverpool ensured they will play Champions League football again next season with a 4-0 home win over Brighton on the last day of the season.

A home game against Brighton proved the defining match of the league campaign after recent results allowed Chelsea back into the race for fourth.

Jurgen Klopp made two changes to his side, bringing in Dominic Solanke to lead the line and restoring Trent Alexander-Arnold to right-back, with Jordan Henderson back in midfield.

And the players chosen didnt let anybody down with a performance much sharper and energetic than had been the case of late, sealing a top-four berth with ease in the end.

Solanke starts, Milner injured Reds switch to a 4-2-3-1 with Firmino in the No.10 role Rampant first-half sets up victory Reds end season fourth in the Premier League.

Clever movement down the flanks provided a flurry of early chances and there were in particular two penalty shouts for handball, both turned down by the referee in the opening 10 minutes.

Solanke also found himself in dangerous areas twice, but a lack of game time perhaps was on show as he lost his footing.

Firstly he chased down a poor back-pass, but failed to make a square pass when Roberto Firmino would have had a tap-in.

Then he attempted a clever chest-down for Mohamed Salah, but couldnt quite make enough contact with the ball.

Worse was to come when Salah was clearly scythed down in the box just yards from the referee, who again failed to react—but it shouldnt have mattered as the Reds should have taken the lead moments later.

Solanke freed Sadio Mane into the box, but he opted to shoot straight at Mat Ryan with Firmino again begging for a simple square pass and a tap-in.

But the Reds didnt have long to wait—and it was a record-breaking goal from Salah.

Alexander-Arnolds brilliant run opened Brightons defence, Solanke slipped a pass in and the No.11 buried a low finish, his 32nd of the Premier League season—more than any other player in a 38-game campaign.

Salah almost doubled the lead moments later after Mane this time was perhaps overly unselfish and passed, but he was thwarted by Ryan.

The chances kept coming as Liverpool dominated utterly, with Firmino, Mane and Gini Wijnaldum all missing the target from presentable chances before the half was out.

An unlikely source provided the second though, as Andrew Robertsons inch-perfect cross was thundered home via Dejan Lovrens head.

That saw the Reds in two goals up at the break, while elsewhere Chelsea and Tottenham were both trailing by one apiece.

After the break the Reds were straight back at it and there was a big moment less than 10 minutes in, as Solanke nearly broke the net with his first-ever goal for Liverpool.

Salah freed the striker down the inside right channel and the young forward lashed a finish high past the keeper into the near top corner for 3-0.

Understandably, it was somewhat more of a low-key event thereafter, though the Reds were still completely in control throughout.

A notable moment came with around 20 minutes remaining, as Adam Lallana made his latest return from injury.

The versatile performer could yet be a key option off the bench in the Champions League final, so it was vital for him to get minutes under his belt.

Danny Ings and Ben Woodburn then replaced Salah and Firmino, both given a massive ovation as they departed.

And the party was just getting started, as Andy Robertson belted in his first goal for the Reds from just inside the box.

Liverpool saw out the game in comfort to round off the season in impressive fashion—unbeaten at Anfield in the Premier League and with 17 clean sheets, the highest tally since 09/10.
