Good morning!
This is the Day 4 and final day of out Cami de Sant Jaume of Cerdanya Hike.
We are getting ready for the day as fast as possible until the maximum heat comes because
yesterday it was an extreme heat and it was pretty darn hard to walk so today we are trying
to be fast.
Today we are doing the final stretch from Seu d'Urgell to Organya and it's gonna be
about the same distance 25 kms we think.
We still don't know how hard the trail would be but hope that it will be a bit easier than yesterday.
Let's get the day started!
Feels like a treat these days not always we are enjoying these beautiful meals.
Today we are carrying so much weight that we don't know if we gonna make it to our final
destination or not.
And how we gonna make it in this hot weather, extreme hot weather.
But our plan is to stop as many times as we need to and eat as much as we want cause we
are carrying so many food today.
And probably we'll make it this way.
Well, let's see what it will be like.
Every day of this hike the way always starts easy and then gets gradually harder and harder
towards the middle and the end.
And when you are at the hardest point it's already the middle of the day and you're dying
of heat.
That's just the fact of this hike.
In every village we pass through we get lost and the reason is the marking is very bad.
So a bit dissapointed about that.
So we have to circle around the city to find the path, only GPS helps us.
It's in the places like this when you literally don't know where to go, left or right.
There is no sign or anything.
Just impossible to walk in the right direction.
In comparison to yesterday there is some wind, feels so nice and refreshing.
So happy that it's not a copy of yesterday.
All of a sudden the ground turned into this rusty reddish brown colour, very interesting.
Do you know what is the reason for that?
Quite a hard uphill and once again no signs of Camino.
So really hope that we go the right way.
We don't want to turn back.
That's just incredible, we found the sign finally after 2.5 kms, around that.
And we were walking all these kms without knowing if we are walking the right way or no.
Just you know with signs of different trails and stuff.
So we are indignated by it very much.
Because all of this way you're totally confused you don't know where to go.
Just go in some direction somewhere there.
We are just studying the map and what to expect next and we can see that we are half way done
for today.
But here us expects the unpleasant surprise.
We can see that this route goes all the way here and then it kind of stops and then we
don't know where to go.
It says that the route is in the process of conditioning so we guess that it's not ready
or something.
So all this way we are guessing that we have to walk on the highway or we will be hitchhiking,
we are not sure what to do next because an unpleasant surprise, really unexpected.
Jumping through the pond, improvised.
The boots are all wet, surprise at the end.
We just saw the roe deer but you can barely capture them, they're so fast.
But we are so excited to know that they live here as well.
It's the first time that we see the sign of the dangerous route and to be cautious.
This route is dangerous probably because of the rock falling and steep cliffs, that's it.
And we are at the end of our day 4 the last day of our Sant Jaume de Cerdanya hike.
It wasn't an easy day, at first it was a bit boring with the same landscape.
But the final stretch it was excellent.
We got such a beauty at the end that we didn't expect.
Also we got lost lots of times today but finally managed to find our way, the right way.
It was difficult, but we did it.
And our plan for tomorrow is to go further along the river.
Yes, we want to get to the place where it gets wider and bigger and to get some photo
and video footage there as well.
And now we are heading to our camping to have some rest and good sleep.
Until tomorrow!
See you!
And we are ready to share with you our final thoughts on our Cami de Sant Jaume in Cerdanya Hike
It's a great trip, but weather it's very hot.
In the month of July it's very difficult to walk in this region.
So it's better to do it in spring or autumn.
We think that the April-October will be the perfect months to do this hike.
So this hike was quite hard on us because we did on average 20-25 kms a day that we
find a bit too much so it's better to do 15 but to enjoy the route more.
But the reason we did so many kms just because we prefer to stay in the campings and the
distance from camping to camping is about 20-25 kms.
So we had to walk more than we usually do.
And bare in mind that the campings are almost all on the side of the road that you have
to walk away from your route of Cami de Sant Jaume and go to this camping and then go back.
So it's kind of you're doing a loop, more kms, so it will be more challenging for you.
Then for example if you stayed in any guest house or hotel in the villages.
This is an option also to go for.
Second difficulty is to find marking.
And we lost a lot of time searching for markings.
Vey big chanks of the way were with no markings and we had to kind of wander around to search
the way and always get lost in the GPS, in navigation.
And only the maps that I told you on Wikiloc helped us a lot, so the guy that did it thank
you a lot for that, you saved us.
And sometimes you have to walk on the highways that is also dissapointing as well.
So keep it in mind.
Also we were kind of on a tight food supply all of these days cause there were almost
no shops, like for 2 days we had to walk with our heavy backpacks and carrying all the food.
And then in the end we had no food left so we kept going hungry.
This is something to bare in mind too.
But overall this hike was an easy level that apt for everyone, that can do everyone.
Probably not so many kms and going more lightweight would be great.
For me this hike Was 50/50.
50 percent great landscape and great trip and 50 percent the same landscape.
In general it's worth doing.
And we enjoyed it very much.
Hope you enjoyed it with us too.
And if you didn't watch our previous Mediterranean coast hike go ahead and watch it.
it was another great hike of ours that will be continued soon.
So keep an eye on that.
And you can start watching this hike here.
See you on our next hike!
Until very soon!
