USB WiFi adapter crafted from scrap parts - Duration: 4:00.

Hi there, is buying an USB Wi-Fi dongle too boring for you?

I know it is, so let's make it a little bit more interesting and build one.

Okay, you might be asking what is the USB Wi-Fi good for.

Literally every device has its own Wi-Fi adapter right?

Well, imagine installing new fresh windows on your computer, there is a solid chance it has no drivers for the Ethernet adapter.

And finding the drivers on another computer and copying it … that's too much work.

But with this device you can just plug it in, connect to the internet and let a program to find the drivers for you.

So what I got here used to be a Chinese android tablet and I found this little module on it.

I also found an exactly the same module on this e-book reader motherboard.

I googled the module and found this image.

As you can see, making an USB stick will be a very easy task as it's already USB based.

Just one little problem is that the USB gives us 5 volts, and we would like 3,3 volts.

Using a resistor to drop the voltage might be a bad idea, because the power consumption of the module isn't linear.

So in an idle state for example it would get much higher voltage.

For the first test I used this USB to SATA adapter.

It has a voltage regulator on it, which gives us a stable voltage even if the current is variable.

So … I'm using this SATA adapter only as a 3,3 volt source and the USB cable to transfer the data.

The USB cable is already connected and now I'm gonna give it some electricity.

And hey it works.

The device doesn't even require any special drivers as it's so basic.

That's nice but I can't imagine having this cable tangle lying around … just like that. Let's make it beautiful.

I have bought a few those regulators in a local electro store.

It is the same thingy that was on the SATA adapter.

But of course it's not the only regulator on this world.

I have found those components on random circuit boards, they are basically the same thing.

If you look on the internet, you will find people hooking some additional capacitors to it.

It just helps to "smooth" the voltage, but I don't care much.

The USB power source is stable enough and the Wi-Fi module has its own capacitors to soften the power fluctuations so screw it.

Now it's just about connecting everything together.

And you know what? Let's do the same with the E-book module.

Making one took me about half an hour in total … was it worth it? Of course it was.

Daniel Sturridge hopeful of injury return for Liverpool's Premier League opener at Watford

Daniel Sturridge is hopeful of returning to full training next week, as the Liverpool striker aims to be involved against Watford on August 12.

The Reds begin their Premier League campaign away to the Hornets, travelling to Vicarage Road looking to build on a productive pre-season.

Ahead of their final friendly of the summer against Athletic Bilbao, however, Jurgen Klopp's side were without a clutch of key names.

Nathaniel Clyne (back), Jordan Henderson (illness), Adam Lallana (thigh) and Philippe Coutinho (back) all joined Sturridge (thigh) on the absentees list for the flight to Dublin.

But while Clyne and Lallana are likely to be sidelined for a lengthier period, Henderson, Coutinho and Sturridge should be on the road to recovery already.

According to the Telegraph, Sturridge "hopes to resume training early next week in an effort to be in contention for the trip to Watford.

This would be a major boost to Klopp's side, with the striker picking up his injury while scoring in the 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup.

His cameo appearance at the Allianz Arena showcased his imperious quality up front, and while Roberto Firmino may be Klopp's first-choice centre-forward, Sturridge is certainly an excellent option.

Speaking to FOX Soccer's Keith Costigan while in Munich, the 27-year-old said he felt "absolutely fine," with Sturridge believing his injury was due to fatigue from training.

The Reds have been regularly undergoing double or triple sessions throughout pre-season, with their time based in Rottach-Egern arguably their most intense, with Klopp steeling his side for 2017/18.

Prior to rejoining the squad in July, Sturridge spent his summer in Los Angeles, following an individual training program designed to avoid further hip injuries.

If Sturridge can find fitness and establish himself under Klopp this season, the Reds will be significantly boosted, with a world-class finisher in their number.

Jurgen Klopp has named a strong starting lineup for Liverpool's final friendly clash of pre-season, taking on Liga side Athletic Bilbao in Dublin.

The Reds travelled to the Republic of Ireland on Saturday morning looking to round off a successful summer of preparations ahead of 2017/18.

With just one week left before they open their campaign away to Watford in the Premier League, Liverpool's face-off with Jose Angel Ziganda's Bilbao serves as a useful barometer of their progress.

Naming a 23-man squad for the flight to Dublin, however, Klopp was forced to leave behind a host of key names, including Nathaniel Clyne, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge.

Nevertheless, the German has still named an impressive side at the Aviva Stadium, looking to lead his side to their sixth win out of eight pre-season games.

Simon Mignolet starts in goal, behind a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Dejan Lovren and Alberto Moreno. Emre Can looks set to line up in the deep-lying role in midfield, flanked by James Milner and Marko Grujic.

And in attack, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino support Divock Origi as Klopp's three-man unit.

On the substitutes' bench, Klopp can call upon the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Sadio Mane and Dominic Solanke, as he looks to build his side's fitness, fluency and form before their trip to Vicarage Road on August 12.
