I'm raising two cats by myself.
I do not need a man, or a woman, to help me get this hair up!
This is the Beauty Lounge, where we learn hacks so easy, you can do them lying down.
Hey, guys!
Welcome to our next episode of the Beauty Lounge, where lazy hacks are the only way
to go.
Today, the most amazing, Jonathan Van Ness, who you guys may know from Queer Eye, and
I know as one of my solid besties.
Love you!
I'm so excited to have you!
Me too, oh my god!
Jonathan actually does my hair.
Like legit, color, cut, everything.
Yeah.
But today, I want you to teach me a beauty hack.
Like, what can I do, lazy, on the go, quick and sexy.
Yes, yes, yes.
My favorite thing for like, I'm just going to work and I don't want my hair all up
in my face, is kind of what I'm serving you today.
It's like a little, relaxed, Ariana Grande, half-up doo.
It's just like, I don't want it in my face, I just can't, get it away from me.
Wahhh!
See? She can't even handle it.
I need it up!
Yeah, you need it out of your way, with all these accessories, you can't even handle your life!
So do you want me to do it on you and then you have to do it again?
And then I'll take it out and do it again.
Okay, cute!
I love that story.
This is like a hack episode all by itself.
Tell me about it.
This is just like a tackle box for your hair pins.
I just got into the difference between hair pins and bobby pins, and I've been doing
hair for thirteen years.
And I was always like, hair pins are useless I don't understand, I don't need them,
I don't care about them.
But they're so important because basically as soon as you have your hair scrunched in
a way that you think is cute, you use a hair pin to attach it when you don't want the
shape affected, because bobby pins scrunch the shape in.
Wait, okay…
I'm gonna show you exactly what I mean.
First, let's see.
This is a hair pin.
And then this is a bobby pin.
Hair pin.
Bobby pin.
Hair pin.
Bobby pin.
Hair, Hair, Ha.
Okay, so that's that.
I really know how to ride a joke until it's dead.
I really love tools with little points in it, because you can part your hair
with it faster.
Because if you use your fingers to part your hair, it's like, messier.
Unless you got these claws.
That is true, honey, that is true.
When you're doing like, these, like, messy doos, I like to keep enough hair down on the
side.
Before you fasten something, hit it with some hair spray because it will give it
a little tack so she stays.
This is called your parietal bone.
Pa-what?
Your parietal.
Okay.
Parietal.
Parietal.
So from that bone – I feel so clueless, this is like our word of the day.
It is!
I hope not parietal.
So we're going to do that on the other side too, just take a little bit of hair.
And then also, the top, you're like leaving this out, right?
Oh you are leaving that out?
Yeah, just this crown part, honey, she's everything.
Oh, and then spray that other side too so she doesn't get jealous.
Can't get jealous.
Get some hairspray on that hair line.
We're taking our little baby hair, then we get out your little elastic.
Do you want me to help you? You can put them in my hand.
No girl, she's an independent woman.
I'm raising two cats, by myself.
I do not need a man, or a woman, to help me get this hair up.
So then you take this little baby, then give her a little spray, because you don't want
her jealous.
No.
And then you can kind of make her into a a little like, messy moment.
Okay.
Because now, if you use a bobby pin, it's gonna make it smaller, but we like all that
volume -- yeah.
So we use hair pins because it kind of keeps your hair more to the shape that it's
sitting in now.
When you use a bobby pin, it like, smashes it, right?
But we don't want to smash it, we want it big.
So yeah, so basically the hair pin just kind of keeps it in there.
I like the texture you use.
Is that because there were no bobby pins?
Yeah, so it's not scrunched.
What were the other ones, hair pins?
Hair pins and bobby pins?
They're bobby pins.
You want to try it, girl?
She's secure!
Honestly I have no clue how to do it, but we're gonna give her a try.
Can I do this lying down?
You might need access to the back of your head.
For this look, you can't be that lazy.
I mean…
What we want to do is get the hair tie ready, because that was annoying for me.
You're gonna take a little chunk from this side, and from this side.
What'd you get, like this much?
Maybe a little bit more. -- More?
Yeah.
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
That's cute.
Oooo, I feel like I did good on that.
Maybe some hair spray around your hairline just a little bit.
I'm sucking at this one.
Put it right in.
Here?
Yeah, you can almost just like, ungh, get it in there.
Oh.
Like get it in the hair.
Get your tail secured.
Cute.
Yes.
Turn around and let me see it. Yes.
That's good.
When you start to twist it, try not to get any hair from underneath it.
And then lift up the ponytail by itself.
And then kind of twist it on itself and get it where you want it.
Yes.
Yep.
And then you can flatten it to your head, like that, and then hair pin that.
Okay, she cute.
She is.
Now you just, these are the pins.
Yep, you just shove it on in there.
When you use bobby pins, it also affects, like, this part.
It make that part get like, weird and tight.
Let me see the back, I don't know what it's giving me.
I don't know if I want you to see the back.
Let's check it out.
Let's see it.
Let's check it out.
I'm scared.
Well I have matching hair, let's do it together!
They're like, who is who?!
We're like, it's me!
Who's who? Is it --
Oh, it's Denise, oh it's Jonathan!
Sorry!
Ooo, and then look at this side, because this side is kind of different.
It's like influencer on this side, but then it's like, business maven on this side.
Ooo, I think I have the same thing.
Yeah, it's really like business maven, but then she's like, an influencer.
Like, I just don't know who I am.
So, Jonathan, do you got any beauty hacks or any favorite products you're feeling right now?
When you're using your dry shampoo, apply it before you get in the shower, and then
get in the shower and let the dry shampoo kind of like do its thing while you're in the
shower.
Don't just put it right in and then start styling it.
It makes the dry shampoo activate a little bit harder.
God, I hope you learned something today.
I love you.
I love you, thanks for having me.
Love you.
Toodles! Bye!
