Hi it's Thibaud!
And I'm glad to meet you, because that's it: we are there!
My favorite time of the year, just behind Christmas: it's Eurovision!
Since it's my World Cup,
I was really looking forward to making this video
I listened to the 43 titles in the running for this 2018 edition,
and I propose you a top 5 of my favorites!
So already I'm going to talk about France,
you know we can not vote for his own country,
so I will not put it among my favorites Madam, our representatives,
even if they deserve it because they are beautiful,
they are young, they are in love and in addition they have a beautiful song to defend.
Frankly it was a long time
I had not been so excited by a French song.
I want to tip my hat to France Télévisions,
who for two years has decided to recapitalize on the contest
after leaving it aside for fifteen years.
So rather than proposing titles against the current,
saying "it's going to stand out", and banging ovens,
they innovated this year with a national selection called "Destination Eurovision",
and in the list of songs there were only good songs!
Yes you had to think about that, make good songs!
And "Mercy" won.
"Mercy" so it's good title: it's pop, it's "catchy" and then there's a theme,
a theme that is humanistic, that will touch people.
I think a top 5 is totally possible.
This would be the first time since 2002, with Sandrine François!
A sub Céline Dion who had not not really a career ...
In short, it's gone for my top 5!
And we start obviously with number 5: Sweden !
Eurovision in Sweden is a national sport,
it's been four years since swedish finish in the top 5,
and I think Benjamin Ingrosso should not deviate from the rule.
The real surprise is that it is not there!
The title is not revolutionary,
it is still ultra efficient it looks like Justin Bieber.
And I think it's really live that he is going to make the difference,
and that he's going to have a lot, if not a lot, points to viewers
and a podium is totally conceivable!
Number 4: Estonia!
This year Estonia relies on opera.
So it's not a genre that stinks in Eurovision,
but Elina Nechayeva, I do not know if I pronounce well,
she has a sublime voice, the song is successful, there is a melody that is catchy,
and above all there is a visual that accompanies it who is really hot!
Estonia has not won since 2001,
so I do not think next year we are in Tallinn for the 2019 edition,
but she can make a very good score!
Number 3: Australia!
This is the fourth year that Australia participates in Eurovision
always with very good scores.
And this year it's Jessica Mauboy who defends his colors,
with a nice title at first glance but generic enough,
and which reveals itself as you listen
rather catchy, addictive and ultra unifying.
Once again it's the live that will do everything,
and this young woman seems to have a huge sympathy capital,
and she can get a lot of European votes!
Number 2: the Czech Republic!
So as for Swedish,
we have the right to a little twink with an ultra efficient song,
it looks like a successful version of Liam Payne.
He is one of the great favorites. "Lie to Me" is really a very, very good song.
It's catchy, it's calibrated to work, to grab the audience like that!
But I'm coming back because it's important,
he must not crash on the live
because next to it there is Swedish with a pretty similar proposal
who goes, it is certain, to leave a visual performance canon.
It is necessary that the young Czech is at the height
if he wants to be able to claim a place as good as it deserves.
Number 1: Israel obviously!
So I say "obviously" because Netta is the big favorite!
She's running in the lead prognosis for weeks,
and it's totally deserved
because her song is really great.
It's pop, it's feminist, there are these little oriental touches,
finally it's a real hit!
And then she's a character, it looks like a fluent Beth Ditto.
But there is a "but" obviously.
Already his status as a great favorite who can cost him the victory on the day of the final,
and also the fact that she is Israeli
because Eurovision is also a geopolitical contest,
and not sure she gets so many public voices
than she deserves.
But if it wins it would be the first Israeli victory in 20 years,
since 1998 with Dana International.
Here it was my top 5 Eurovision 2018!
Tell me in comment your prediction for this edition of Eurovision,
and then what do you think about this selection, and my video!
The final is May 12th.
In the meantime, I kiss you, and I'll see you soon!
