Joy's Healthy Retirement | Humana - Duration: 4:01.

Before retirement, I really didn't think a whole lot about health and wellness.

It was something I sort of took for granted but as one grows older, there's no doubt about

it, things change.

Bones and joints begin to hurt.

It's harder to maintain a healthy weight.

I knew that if I was going to maintain the active lifestyle that I wanted in retirement

and do the things that I really enjoy, I needed to do some improvement on this.

I needed to follow up with some wellness programs.

I needed to be somewhere where I could exercise and be fit.

I love to be active doing things that are pleasant and meaningful to me.

I do like to work in the yard and dig in the dirt, pull up a bunch of weeds, do the simple

things.

I love to walk my dog.

He helps keep me going.

I wanted to be able to spend the day shopping or taking my grandson to a museum or to the

amusement park.

I thought, okay I'm not too old to do these and I want to do them and I want to do them

and enjoy them without a lot of pain and without getting out of breath and without saying,

"Oh, grandma needs to sit down and rest."

As I approached retirement, I started to get some booklets in the mail.

I received the information about the Humana, the Medicare Advantage plan, and I read through

that booklet.

It was very easy to understand.

I thought, wow this plan offers everything that I was hoping to get.

I couldn't wait to get enrolled.

Not only has the health plan offered me access to what I feel like are the best doctors and

the best treatments, it has done it in a way that has taken a lot of worry and anxiety

off my mind.

One of the programs that Humana offers was the well dine program.

If you stay in the hospital overnight, you're eligible to receive 10 frozen dinners by just

calling the number once you get home.

I had my hip replaced in June of 2013.

It was a great benefit to have when neither myself nor my husband felt like preparing

a meal.

There are some fun things at the Humana Guidance Center, social opportunities and instruction

and wellness on keeping yourself healthy.

I love meeting the people at the fitness programs.

Sometimes it's more fun to do things with friends than it is by yourself and all of

those things are just a great enhancement to one's wellness program.

Another program that I have taken advantage of is the care manager program.

I get a call once a month.

He has really helped me with finding the most accurate information about certain questions

that I've had about health conditions.

And that makes me feel like he's really interested in me personally and my questions and I've

always been impressed with how enthusiastic people are about sharing the information and

sharing the benefits and sharing the programs that Humana offers.

Not a lot of people are that enthusiastic about their plan but Humana people are and

that makes me want to participate more.

I want to be energetic and I want to be active for my kids, for my friends, my grandkids,

and I want to be doing things that help other people.

And that means taking advantage of the wellness programs, not just seeing a doctor when I'm

sick but following the schedule for wellness and getting the checkups and getting the tests

done gives you a peace of mind to know that you can get the care that you need and it's

easy.

Larry's Health Coaching Success Story | Humana - Duration: 3:02.

To start out with, this video is being recorded for quality assurance and training purposes.

No, this video is being recorded for Jen Campbell.

The first conversation, I can't remember.

I just thought it was, well, it's another telemarketer.

But, I soon found out it was more than that.

And, I thank Humana for that.

I can set goals with the member.

I can guide them through their journey of well-being.

I can encourage them and motivate them.

To me, a Perfect Experience is treating a member like I would my own family.

It's a Perfect Experience dealing with Jen and Humana.

Because of that, I know that I'm receiving the best care that I could.

I spoke to Larry and he was telling me that he was just recently diagnosed with a debilitating

condition.

He just didn't know what to do.

And, at that moment, you know, I encouraged him that, "Your health is going to come

out in the end and you're going to overcome this."

Outside of the information that she's provided me, the personal communications has been very

helpful, the knowledge that I do have somebody I can call upon that is willing to try to

help me physically and emotionally.

Well, I know what a tremendous effect when somebody is diagnosed with a condition or

an illness.

So, getting the resources and tools to help him feel healthier and happier, I am very

proud of Larry because he doesn't let his condition, his disease, control his life now

that he takes control of it.

Is it a health partner?

Yes, but it's more than just that.

To me, it's really, definitely a close, kindred spirit.

I trust Jen.

That's all I can say.

"Thank you and God bless," and that is his signature goodbye to me.

And, you know, helping him through that makes me realize what a difference I made in his

life.

Thank you a lot and may the Lord continue to bless you all the days of your life.

Susan's Health Coaching Success Story | Humana - Duration: 3:32.

I'm Susan Cope and I have the Humana Medicare Advantage plan.

I've had diabetes and high blood pressure since I was 15.

Then in 2005, I suffered a brain stem stroke.

I wanted to get healthy.

I'm not getting any younger and everything you hear now is maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

I wanted to eat healthier.

I wanted to move myself more, be physically active and I needed somebody that would motivate

me and encourage me to get more active with my life.

I learned about the health coaching through Humana by going to their website and I saw

a section that said wellness so I clicked on that and found out they had coaches who

would actually work with you on email and telephone calls to assist you in losing weight.

And that's what I wanted to get involved with, a lifestyle that was going to make positive

changes for myself that I could incorporate into everyday living.

I started with the health coach in February and when I talked to her the first time on

the phone, she was just so friendly and warm and really got me to trust her.

We're on a two-week call system where every two weeks she calls me as well as I can email

her anytime I want to get immediate feedback.

My long-term goal is to lose a hundred pounds and when I started my weight loss journey,

I was looking at the big picture and that hundred pounds was insurmountable.

And my coach helped me to learn, "Don't worry about the hundred pounds.

Start with just five."

So, some of the easiest things we started with was to drink more water.

The other thing was to get more fruits and vegetables.

I plan my meals two weeks in advance and so I write on a dry erase board two weeks in

advance what we're having every night for dinner.

Once I got clearance from my doctor to get physically active, my coach really jumped

right in and encouraged me to do just five minutes at a time.

Having not been active for 20 years, that it was just do five minutes and then add time

as you feel able and healthy to do and now I'm up to 30…35 minutes a day of walking.

I find I can get more things accomplished during the day.

I have more energy.

I sleep better at night and since I've been walking, I've limbered up my range of motion

and now I can walk up and down the stairs like a normal person.

When I went back to the doctor in July, I had lost 12 pounds.

She noticed it right away and was very excited for me as well as myself, you know, to say,

"I did it.

I lost 12 pounds.

Whoopee!"

And a lot of people will see all these things that they're supposed to do for their health

and they'll say, "I'm too big.

I can't move.

I weigh 400 pounds.

I can't do five minutes of exercise."

Yes, you can.

Just walk extra steps around your home and when you have the coach, she's encouraging

you every step of a way to do these things.

Make little changes.

You don't have to make a hundred changes at one time.

Focus on one little thing.

If I can lose five, I can lose five more.

And the five turned into 12 and now I'm working on the next five.

The health coach helps make me keep those changes going in my life to keep me motivated,

to keep me involved, and giving me good choices to make to make a healthy lifestyle.

It has been a lifesaver for me.

Jeep Wrangler Uniden CB Radio (1987-2017 Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK) Review & Install - Duration: 4:28.

This Uniden CB Radio is for those of you that have a 1987 and up Wrangler and are looking

for a way to be able to communicate with other Jeeps on the trail or on the road, on the

cheap.

Now, this radio doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles that some of the other radios

on the market have, but it is going to get you communicating on the CB band without breaking

the bank.

As for the installation, I am going to give this a simple two out of three wrenches.

I say simple two out of three because there isn't a whole lot to it, however, there is

still going to be some wiring necessary.

Now, as with any CB set up, you are still going to need an antenna and of course, you're

going to need the cable for the CB radio to connect everything up.

However, you are going to be able to get away very inexpensively with this setup and still

have some communication.

Some off-road parks will require you to have a CB radio in order in order to enter the

park, other times it's just a really nice feature to have when you're cruising down

the trail with your buddies, being able to speak with them very openly and easily.

Some parks, or any place, where you don't have good cell phone reception, so there are

a lot of reasons to want a CB radio in your Jeep.

However, as with any electronics, there are those premium, top of the line, with all the

bells and the whistles, and then the more basic and simple systems.

And this is definitely a more basic, simple system that's definitely going to save you

some money over those premium systems, while still working really well to be able to get

you communicating.

As with any CB radio, this has 40 channels and this does have a port for an external

speaker if you choose to hook one up, but it's not going to have any of those other

features.

It's not going to have an output for a PA, it's not going to have any dual channel monitoring,

it's not going to have any sort of additional weather channels on it.

So again, very basic but it gets the job done.

As for the installation, I am going to give this a simple two out of three wrenches.

I say simple two out of three because there isn't a whole lot to it, however, there is

still going to be some wiring necessary.

So if you're not comfortable with wiring, it will bump up the difficulty level.

You may want to take your Jeep to a shop to have this installed.

If you are feeling a little bit adventurous, again, this is just a two wire hookup, so

it is something you could probably figure out in your driveway.

Now, the first step is mounting the radio itself and where you mount that is really

up to you depending on what generation Jeep you have.

There are some options for a bolt-on bracket.

You can always put this in your glove box or in your center console if it's not something

you plan on using a lot.

You will mount them onto the dash onto the side of the center console, there are some

overhead consoles that you can mount these in, a lot of different options.

So once you have the radio itself installed, mounted up, the next step is going to be getting

power to it.

Like I said, this does have a very simple positive and negative two-wire hookup.

However, with a radio, you do want to make sure you're getting very clean power.

Which means if you can, you want to go directly to the battery for both your positive and

your negative.

That's going to eliminate as much feedback as possible if you were to hook up to another

circuit that's running through additional resistors or switches or anything like that.

So get good, clean power, it's going to make a difference with the clarity of your transmissions

and your receiving on the radio.

Then you're going to need to hook this up to your antenna.

Now, you'll have your antenna mounted wherever you choose to on the Jeep.

You'll run a wire from the radio to the antennae itself but, as with any CB radio, before you

use this, you are going to want to tune this.

There are shortwave radio tuners that you can purchase fairly inexpensively.

You essentially put them in line between your antenna and your radio, do a couple of tests

and dial in the length of your antenna to ensure you're going to get the best use, and

the safest use, out of your radio.

This radio is only going to run you $50 and that is not a reflection of the quality but

just of the fact that this doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles.

This is going to be a very simple radio, but still very well built and definitely going

to work and get you communicating.

If you want one of those radios that has a lot of other features, monitoring dual channels

at the same time, weather channels, PA output, we do have those radios available as well,

however, they are going to be more expensive.

So if you're looking for an inexpensive CB radio, I definitely recommend looking into

this Uniden radio that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

A Brighter Web, Episode 011 - Quick hackers, Facebook dislikes slow sites, and more. - Duration: 6:11.

When you first set up your site, security is probably one of those items on your list

that you'll do, you know, "pretty soon".

But did you know that hackers know about most websites within 30 minutes of being purchased,

and are watching every step of the way for an opening to hack you?

Before we get into that though, this is A Brighter Web episode number 11, brought to

you by all of us at GreenMellen, which includes me, Mickey Mellen, and some of my awesome

coworkers and friends that you'll hear in future episodes.

Our goal with this podcast is to share news, products and ideas with you so we can all

make the web a brighter place to be.

These might be actual web tips, talking about strategy, WordPress plugins and UX, or it

might be productivity ideas to help you get more done and free up your time to do great

things.

Today we'll talk more about quick hackers, Facebook demoting slow loading websites, Google's

guidelines from 2010 are still pretty good, social media still isn't a ranking factor

and much more.

Let's dig in.

As I mentioned in the beginning, hackers can find fresh websites often within about 30

minutes and keep an eye on it from there.

This is usually by watching SSL certificate purchases and seeing what site they're registered

to, then keeping an eye on that site.

So if you purchase your SSL one day and don't begin your site till the next day, hackers

are already watching that site to see what they can do.

It doesn't matter if you're too small or think you're too unimportant, hackers just want

to get volume, and your site is one they'll keep an eye on.

Make sure security is one of the first things you think about when you're launching your

new site.

We've talked for a while how Google doesn't like slow loading websites and sites that

load more quickly rise higher in the search results, and Facebook's starting to follow

suit.

Facebook is now adjusting their algorithm to show slow loading sites further down in

the newsfeed when compared to similar fast loading sites.

If you're going to link to something on Facebook, make sure your site loads quickly and, of

course, if you have a website, make sure it loads quickly so it'll show up well on Facebook

when others link to it.

Back in 2010, Google put out an SEO starter guide to help people understand the basics

of search engine optimization to help their site rank well.

Someone asked Google's Gary Illyes a question a few days ago about that, and he confirmed

that they feel that 2010 guide is still very relevant today, and you should still be trying

to follow it.

We often say that Google doesn't change the rules; they only get better at enforcing them.

Most updates that Google puts out are to go after spammers that have been trying to circumvent

Google's rules, when really most of what Google started back in the late '90s is still what

they want today.

Quality content, honest content, legitimate links, that sort of thing.

A few things have certainly changed over time, such as mobile responsive websites becoming

more important and SSL certificates, as we talked about a minute ago, being a factor,

but all in all, the basics are still the same, and if you find Google's guide from 2010,

follow it and you'll do pretty well.

On the flip side of that, Google's starting to do something somewhat unGoogle-like, in

that AdWords, as you may have noticed in the search results, are looking more and more

like organic results.

This, of course, results in higher click through rates, making Google more money, but it's

getting a little bit shady and it's something to keep an eye on.

Now this could be good if you're an AdWords customer; More clicks means lower prices means

more traffic for you guys.

Google used to be very good about differentiating between paid ads and organic listings, and

it's getting a little fuzzier now, so it'll be interesting to see how far they take this

or if they start to roll back and make the ads a bit more prominent in the future.

As you're poking around the web, you may notice some new "save" buttons showing up from Google

in various places.

Among others it's now replacing the share button in the local panel on the right side

of the search results, when you find a local business.

Where it used to say share, it now says save, and it's showing up a few other places in

the search results.

It's still a bit cumbersome to actually get to your saved pages, but it looks like Google's

in the process of building out a social bookmarking tool of some sort, and I'm sure we'll see

more about that in the coming weeks.

We talked last week about some changes Google's been making to image search and a new update

on Android is taking that even further.

Now if you do an image search on Android, there's new badges that show up to help you

take action.

They could be recipes to try for an image you found of a dish or related videos to it,

things like that.

While this is only on Android for now, it seemingly will come to iOS and probably the

web at some point.

That means it's increasingly important to make sure your images are labeled properly

for image search, primarily with alt attributes and those sorts of things.

We've talked before about social media not being a direct search ranking factor and the

guys at Stone Temple Consulting share why they agree that it's not a factor.

They say it's still an important piece of your search efforts.

You don't want to ignore social media by any means, but as a direct ranking factor, it's

still something Google doesn't look at, and they really dig into why that's the case and

the challenges Google faces in trying to make social media a ranking factor.

Watch their video to learn more and link to that in our show notes.

Finally, for our tip of the week, the new product I've been checking out called wavebox.io.

It's w-a-v-e-b-o-x dot i-o.

It's a Windows, Mac, and Linux application that pulls in Gmail, Google Inbox, Outlook,

Slack, and others into a great single interface.

I like the way that each of those applications has little badges that show up with the number

of emails or unread Slack messages next to each item inside of Wavebox, but then the

Wavebox app itself gives me a badge with all the unread stuff in there.

For me, the items in there are things that are important to me.

We use Slack quite a bit at GreenMellen and using it more and more.

Of course, email is something you'll want to keep a close eye on.

So having that all-in-one great desktop application is pretty awesome and I really like it.

We're hoping they add more features to it pretty soon.

They have a huge list of other applications they want to include.

Asana would be a big one for us, but there's plenty others.

You actually can add other apps to it and you add virtually any website as a new button

inside of Wavebox, but to have that full integration with the badges and the notifications takes

If you're not in the Atlanta area, we post recaps on the site soon after each Meetup.

Either way, you can learn more at abrighterweb.com/meetup.
