U.S. TV market now bigger than China's for the first time in 6 years - Duration: 0:48.

The market for televisions is now bigger in the U.S. than in China... for the first time

in 6 years.

IHS Markit said Sunday that the U.S. accounted for 26 percent of the global market for TVs

in the third quarter,... a 3-point-8-percentage-point rise from the previous quarter.

China's share shrank by 3 percentage-points to 24 percent,... handing over the lead to

the U.S. for the first time since the end of 2011.

There has been a wide gap between the two,... with the U.S. even falling 14 percentage points

behind China earlier this year.

In the third quarter, though, China's purchases of TVs decreased by over 19 percent compared

to a year earlier.

This shift in demand is prompting Chinese TV makers to expand their marketing in North

America.

Egypt mosque attackers 'carried IS flag,' death toll rises to 305 - Duration: 0:43.

In Egypt, the death toll from Friday's attack on a mosque in the North Sinai has risen to

305, including two dozen children.

Currently no group has claimed responsibility, but there are signs the gunmen were affiliated

with the Islamic State.

After interviewing witnesses, Egyptian state prosecutors say there were 25 to 30 gunmen,

some wearing military gear and carrying Islamic State flags.

They set off a bomb at the end of Friday prayers and then opened fire on people as they tried

to run away, blocking off escape routes with burning cars.

Striking a mosque would be a change for IS in the Sinai -- previously they had targeted

police, troops and Christian sites.

Russia's top envoy on N. Korean nuke lands in Seoul - Duration: 0:39.

Russia's vice foreign minister and chief envoy on the North Korean nuclear issue landed in

South Korea Sunday morning.

During his three-day visit, Igor Morgulov is to meet with his South Korean counterpart

Lee Do-hoon, possibly to discuss ways to bring North Korea back to talks on its denuclearization.

Hopes for dialogue have risen amid a relatively long break in the regime's nuclear and missile

tests.

On the same day Monday he will also meet with Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs

Yoon Soon-gu to follow up on talks between South Korea and Russia last September and

to look at ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Researchers find gene responsible for autism - Duration: 1:25.

Korean researchers have, for the first time, found that the gene responsible for causing

symptoms in Down syndrome also has an influence on autism.

This study is expected to pave the way for the development of medicines and contribute

to autism research.

Park Se-young reports.

The rate of autism in Korean children aged seven to twelve is two-point-six percent,…

or one in every 38 children.

This is already more than twice the figure in the U.S. and Europe,… and the number

is only expected to rise.

It's long been known that genetic mutations and environmental influences both play a role

in the development of autism.

Now, researchers have found that one of the genes that cause symptoms in Down syndrome

also induces autism.

It's the gene involved in neuro-genesis, brain size, cognition and degenerative brain diseases.

Zebrafish were used to research the gene.

(Korean) "Autistic people find social interaction challenging

and become isolated.

We observed how this change occurs using the zebrafish model."

The zebrafish model is expected to contribute to the search for candidate genes for autism

and the development of new medicines.

The study was published in the journal Molecular Autism.

Data suggest N. Korea will conduct WMD tests in December: CSIS - Duration: 2:13.

North Korea has remained quiet for over two months now, with no new ballsitic missile

launches or nuclear tests.

But a leading U.S. think tank has used big data analysis... to show that there are elevated

chances of provocations within the next 30 days.

Our Lee Jeong-yeon explains.

Speculation is rising about when the next provocation will come from North Korea.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies predicts that there is a greater chance

the regime do something involving a weapon of mass destruction within the next two- to

four-week window.

The think tank, based in Washington, says its big data analysis shows the likelihood

of a provocation in the next 30 days... on a rolling basis... has been breaking records

in the past couple of weeks.

Just last Tuesday it reached the highest level since the start of September.

And the likelihood of a provocation in the next 14 days has also been climbing every

day since November 15th.

This means that a ballistic missile test could be expected on or around the 17th of December,

the date of the previous leader Kim Jong-il's death.

This prediction comes amid a rather quiet two months from the regime despite new international

sanctions and joint military drills between South Korea and the U.S..

Two factors could be behind this.

The first are the technical limitations of tests in cold weather.

According to analysis, the North has only conducted three tests in the last two months

of the year... in the 5 years Kim Jong-un has held power.

In 2015, North Korea fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile once each in November and

December,... and in December 2012 it launched the Unha-3 ICBM.

Another reason could be that the regime conducts annual military exercises in December which

take up all its time and resources.

But historical trends aside, observers are watching the regime closely as the end of

the year approaches,... to see whether its behavior is affected either way by Washington's

pressure or the recent visit to Pyongyang by an envoy from China.
