Trump Ready To Shut Down The Government Over Border Wall Funding - Duration: 4:55.

If the federal government does not reach some kind of a stop gap compromise by this Friday,

as far as the budget's concerned, the government could shut down once again, just like it did

in 2013 when Ted Cruz decided to shut it down, because he couldn't get his way in repealing

Obamacare.

But Donald Trump said that if he does not get his funding for this idiotic border wall

that he wants to build between the United States and Mexico, that he will absolutely

let the government shut down, and let the Democrats take the blame for that, because

that's what he thinks is going to happen.

In spite of the fact that the majority of Americans do not want this wall.

They do not want to pay for this wall, and Mexico says that they will not pay for this

wall, even though the White House, this weekend, said somehow, eventually maybe one day, Mexico

is gonna pay us back for this.

You're still pushing it.

You're still pushing this as if it's something that this country desperately need or we're

all going to die, because that's what Trump voters think.

They think that if we don't stop this massive fictional influx of Mexican immigrants into

the United states to, as Trump says and they believe, are coming over here to rape and

kills us, then somehow America is going to fall.

Now, we have functioned pretty well as a country for a couple centuries without a massive border

wall between the United States and Mexico, and I think we will continue to survive without

one.

I think we'll survive even better if we don't waste billions upon billions of dollars constructing

this idiotic talking point, because that's what it is.

Donald Trump is certainly not the first republican to propose a border wall, and he wont' be

the last, but he is the one who is pushing it more aggressively than anyone else has,

but nobody wants it.

People in this country do not want it, as a whole.

We welcome immigrants.

Businesses welcome immigrants.

They're the ones you need to crack down on.

If you want to stop illegal immigration, why don't you go talk to the businesses that are

hiring the illegal immigrants to do the jobs that American citizens refuse to do.

And yes, there are jobs that American citizens are refusing to do, and the immigrants are

coming in and they're doing those jobs, so that the United States can continue functioning

normally.

Now, I know we don't want to think about that.

We just want to go about our lives and think everybody is abiding by the law, and that

the people who are out of work is because the immigrants took their jobs, but that's

ignoring the reality of the situation in the United States.

The state of Georgia, a few years ago, rescinded one of their Visa programs that effectively

allowed farmers to have their fruits and vegetables rot in the fields, because Americans ... Georgia

citizens would not go out there and pick those vegetables.

They didn't want those jobs.

Those were the jobs, specifically that those Visas were allowing those immigrants to come

in and do.

Farmers lost hundreds of millions of dollars.

The price of crop went up, because there was a shortage, because there wasn't enough people

out there to pick them.

That's what happens when you stop immigration into the United States.

These jobs aren't glamorous.

People aren't hopping that border and coming over here and taking the jobs of heart surgeons.

They're taking low wage, unskilled labor jobs, because Americans simply don't want them,

and that is the reality.

But Donald Trump still thinks we need this wall.

He thinks we need this wall.

He thinks we should spend a couple hundred billion dollars paying for it, and he is willing

to shut down the federal government and cost us even more money, in order to get his way.

This man is a petulant child, who will stop at nothing, no matter how many people it harms,

to make sure that he gets his way, and to make sure that everybody in this country saw

him do it.

That he's a tough guy.

Nobody talks bad to Donald Trump.

"Nobody doesn't let me get my way.

I'll show you.

I'll stop these federal government programs for a few weeks, while people go hungry, while

senior citizens go without heat or electricity because they can't afford their bills without

their government subsidies."

All because he wants to put a wall that will do absolutely nothing between the US and Mexico.

I don't think there's too many people left in this country that would actually look at

the scenario we're facing right now, a government shut down in order to pay for a border wall.

Not too many people that would look at that and say, "Yeah, that's absolutely worth it."

2017 BRZ burnout challenge part deux - Duration: 9:03.

hey everybody its Justin and we're doing

a little bit of driving through town

today I know some of you had asked in

one of my previous videos how does the tanabe concept g sound while inside

the car just kind of driving through

town going through the gears regular

day-to-day type of driving

so I'm going to bring some of that a

little bit of driving around through the

town tell you how it sounds the inside

of the car

and I'm also going to make my way back

out to my burn out spot and try another

attempt at getting this car to do burnouts

if you saw my original burnout

attempt in the 2017 subaru brz you

probably saw that it wasn't very good it

was pretty pathetic even I dislike my

own YouTube video you so we're going to

try to redeem ourselves a little bit today

I've got

alright so that was a little bit scary

that's emergency vehicle

blaring up behind me on a very narrow

street had to get out of the way let

them pass but anyways we're going to

head back out to my burn out spot

attempt to get more burnouts in the car

I actually have the stock tires on the

car so we'll try a burnout on the power

to see what it will do from a standing

launch we'll even try some brake stands and see

we can generate a little bit more smoke

this time have something more worthy of

a successful burn out so follow along and I

hope you enjoy the video

so cruising along at 50 the car's

actually pretty quiet it doesn't drone

real bad I'm only going about 50 miles

an hour I can put it into sixth gear and

you really can't even hear the exhaust it's pretty quiet

downshift into fourth gear

give it a little gas and obviously it comes to life

alright so we'll try to run through the

gears here real quick going to make a

left hand turn

2nd gear obviously

so now we're at 70 miles an hour in 6th

gear

it's still pretty quiet you can actually

leisurely go down the highway not be annoyed by

exhaust in this car

alright we'll throw in some boring casual city traffic driving

the gear shift indicator on these cars I don't know if the previous

or pre 2017 cars add this feature but

you can turn on the gear shift indicator in

the dash will actually tell you

when to shift gears presumably for fuel

economy and best efficiency

so that's what I'm doing and I'm just shifting

when the little gear shift indicator

tells me to shift

alright so coming up to a stop we'll do

another run through the gears here

hopefully if there's no traffic

so that was first through fourth gear to

about 7,000 rpms on each gear I wasn't going

to go hammer it off the red line or

anything like that

so I don't know what do you guys think it sounds pretty awesome

to me I do like it a lot better than my old

exhaust for sure

all right so enough of that stuff let's

go try some burnouts see what we can

do this time

alright we made it out to the burnout spot first attempt is just

going to be a repeat of what we did in

the first burnout video nothing special

here

alright so the stock tires did slip just

a little bit more than the bridgestones

that i had on there during first burnout

video but that was still pretty boring

roll it back here

get the car turne around and it's time to get a little bit

more serious

NASA's Fermi Catches Gamma-ray Flashes from Tropical Storms - Duration: 3:03.

Convective storms hold an extraordinary

surprise. Under just the right conditions,

they fire off some of the highest-energy light naturally found on Earth--

terrestrial gamma-ray flashes, or TGFs.

Rising and falling snow and ice particles

repeatedly collide, filling the cloud with electrical charge. Once the

electric field is strong enough, a current flows and a lightning flash

occurs. The flash produces an abrupt reconfiguration of

the electric field. In some cases, a surge of electrons

rushes toward the upper part of the storm at speeds nearly as

fast as light. When deflected by air molecules, these

accelerated electrons give off gamma rays, producing a TGF.

Data from NASA's Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope

suggest more than a thousand TGFs occur each day all over the globe.

For the first time, improved data link dozens of

TGFs to specific tropical weather systems.

Tropical storms far from land tend to generate less frequent lightning.

Nevertheless, observations show they are surprisingly prolific producers

of TGFs. Tropical Storm Manuel

made landfall just shy of hurricane strength. As it rapidly

weakened, it produced two TGFs within 24 hours.

More typically, TGFs are associated with the strengthening

phase of a storm. As Typhoon Bolaven rapidly

developed in 2012, thunderstorms nearly 500 miles from

its center launched a TGF with four distinct pulses.

So far, the record-holder for TGFs

is the rapidly strengthening tropical wave that later gave birth

to Hurricane Julio. It produced four TGFs within

100 minutes. A fifth followed the next day, with nothing further.

What scientists learned so far

is that weather tropical storms are capable of producing more TGFs,

and those events can arise anywhere in the storm.

For stronger storms, like hurricanes and typhoons, TGFs are more common

in the outer rain bands, which host the highest lightning flash rates

in these storms. The findings provide new insights

into the relationship between storm intensity, lightning frequency,

and TGFs. This adds another important piece to the puzzle

of our understanding of TGFs and how they are created in thunderstorms--

the most powerful natural particle accelerators on planet Earth.

Best of Hubblecast - Duration: 5:11.

As Hubble reaches the grand old age of 27,

the Hubblecast team have a lot to celebrate.

For the past 10 years we've been capturing

the science, culture, successes and trials of Hubble

and we reflect on the highs — and lows — of the Hubblecast in this,

our 100th episode!

Hello and welcome to the Hubblecast.

Now we all know that Hubble is an amazing telescope,

amazing enough to fill 100 episodes,

that's about 10 hours worth of the Hubblecast.

So what's changed over time?

What are some of the best, funniest,

or just weirdest episodes that we've made?

That's exactly the question, that we, the Hubblecast team,

have been asking ourselves, and so,

let's take a look at our, Hubblecast highlights.

Remember these? In episodes 50, 78 and 79,

we answered your questions about Hubble and astronomy,

which were fantastic! And here's my favourite bit.

[The answer is, everywhere!

Now the key is to realise,

that the term Big Bang does not describe an event in space,

but rather, one in time.

The Big Bang was not an explosion it was an event,

that happened everywhere at the same time,

and the Universe was infinitely large right from the start,

and so there is no single point from which the Universe is expanding,

and also, there is no centre.

It is simply impossible to define a centre in an infinitely large space.]

We had good fun with these episodes,

and what they showed us, was that you were really interested

in the challenging physics concepts that lie at the core of Hubble science,

and we've gone to some lengths to try and explain these.

We've used diagrams…

[…it bends the space around it and acts like a gigantic magnifying glass.]

[... what our 3D Universe expands into… ]

We've used balloons…

[... is just as meaningless.]

[Let's say goodbye to Hubble's pretty pictures... ]

And we even used... unicorns?

[Rainbows?]

And, for the sake of the Hubblecast,

we even disregard our own personal safety,

like the time I got blown up by a supernova

...several times.

Even after 10 years, we're not bored,

because Hubble gives us so much to work with.

We've explored its history, celebrated its birthdays,

and followed its last servicing mission.

But most of all,

we've been delving into Hubble's most amazing discoveries,

and finding new ways to share them with you.

We covered supernovae, black holes,

distant galaxies, exoplanets, ah, and quasars.

[Now when matter falls into a black hole it forms this big swirling disc

which heats up and gives off a lot of powerful radiation.

The more matter falls into the black hole,

the more powerful the radiation.

Now these active accreting black holes are called quasars

and they're amongst the most luminous

and most powerful objects in the Universe.]

What we're trying to do at the Hubblecast,

is to bring the scientific insights that Hubble has afforded to us,

their implications, but also their fun and beauty, to everyone.

And there's plenty of beauty to be found, just look at this.

Now at the Hubblecast, we've been very lucky

to have an incredibly talented team over the years.

A team of writers, directors, producers, cameramen,

illustrators, and visual artists.

It is only with their help,

that we all get to enjoy Hubble's data in all of it's glory

and travel to places like the Pillars of Creation.

They also illustrate for us,

those things that have to be left to the imagination.

All to the next generation of telescopes.

Now those were our favourite Hubblecast moments,

but what are yours?

Tell us on Facebook or Twitter.

This is Dr J,

signing off for the Hubblecast.
