Hello everyone!
And welcome to a brand new episode of MajestiComic.
Today's video is about the current Robin, who just so happens to be Bruce Wayne's
biological son.
This character was suggested by one of our subscribers, none other than Jesus Christ
himself!
So let's hope it's a good one.
Damian Wayne officially made his first appearance in 2006, in the Batman and Son story arc of
the Batman comic series.
Technically, though, this character first appeared as an unnamed newborn baby in 1987's
Batman: Son of the Demon.
In this story, Batman and the daughter of one of his greatest enemies, Ra's al Ghul,
have a love affair.
Talia al Ghul and Batman have had an on-again, off-again romance for years, and it is in
this story that it finally comes to fruition.
Batman and Talia fall in love, and they even get married.
Eventually, Talia reveals that she is pregnant with Bruce's child.
While this seems like it would be a good thing, it turns out to be very dangerous for the
both of them.
Knowing that he now has a child to live for and to raise, Batman stops taking his usual
risks.
He avoids doing anything too dangerous, which only serves to put him into situations that
are even more dangerous.
He is no longer grim and brooding and tough, he is softer, and it soon becomes clear that
this lessens his ability to do his job as the Dark Knight.
When Talia is attacked by Ra's al Ghul's League of Assassins, Batman is barely able
to save her – and himself.
When she sees how her husband is nearly killed due to his new, softer, risk-averse demeanor,
Talia knows that she can't let him go on like this.
Shortly after this battle, Talia tells Batman that she had a miscarriage, and that their
baby is gone.
This brings back Batman's painful, brooding darkness, and the two dissolve their marriage
and go their separate ways.
Unbeknownst to Batman, Talia gives birth to a baby boy a few months later, and leaves
him at an orphanage, where he is put up for adoption.
Over the next couple of decades, Batman and Talia's son appears in several different
storylines, but is never really made into a full-fledged character.
Most of these storylines are not considered to be a part of the Batman canon, and are
thusly not seen as a true part of the Batman universe.
In 2006, though, Grant Morrison recreated this character, turning that unnamed baby
from 1987 into Damian Wayne, son of Batman and Talia al Ghul.
In this version, though, Morrison altered the baby's origin story by making it appear
that Batman was drugged by Talia, who basically raped him, having sex with him against his
will.
This was later retconned by Batman admitting that he had been following his heart when
he slept with Talia.
But no matter how it was conceived, the one thing that was clear was that Batman had no
idea that he had a son.
Instead of carrying the baby in her stomach like a normal person, Talia grew her baby
in an artificial womb in a lab, where scientists made him genetically perfect in every way.
After Damian is born, he is raised by Talia and the League of Assassins, and is brought
up to be a warrior.
He is taught martial arts, and he is taught to be a killer, all before the age of ten.
It is at this point, though, that Talia reveals Damian Wayne's existence to his father.
She hopes that having a son to take care of will make him less capable of carrying out
his duties as the Dark Knight, and she is partially right.
When Bruce takes Damian back to his house and the Batcave, he finds that Damian takes
an instant dislike to Tim Drake, Bruce's adopted son and the current Robin.
Damian is spoiled and mean and cruel, and he doesn't think that anyone else deserves
to be Batman's sidekick, because he himself is his true, biological son.
As a result of his bratty behavior, Bruce punishes Damian, and locks him in his room.
Damian easily escapes, though, and goes out into the city to look for trouble.
While he's out, he fights and decapitates a villain named Spook, and when Tim Drake
tries to befriend him back in the Batcave later, he shows him Spook's head.
When Tim is disgusted and tells him that he and Batman do not kill people, Damian puts
a grenade in Spook's mouth, and tosses the head, which explodes when it hits the ground.
The two then fight, because Damian mistakenly believes that he has to fight all of Batman's
other sidekicks in order to earn his father's respect.
Damian beats Tim, and leaves him unconscious in the Batcave while he goes back out into
the city, this time dressed in one of Tim's old Robin costumes and his own League of Assassin's
gear.
Batman finds him, and figures out what happened.
He takes him back home and fixes up Tim, and the three of them go out to stop Talia, who
has taken the British Prime Minister's wife hostage.
Batman then realizes that Talia only left Damian with him to distract him, but in the
end, Damian begs them both to work things out so that they can be a family.
Unfortunately, though, there is no time.
As a result of their battle, the British Royal Navy blows up the ship they were all fighting
on.
Batman escapes, but Talia and Damian are don't make it out in time.
We later find out that both Damian and Talia survive, although the former has to have several
organ transplants.
After this, Damian is used as a pawn once again as Talia works to resurrect her father,
Ra's al Ghul.
While this is happening, Batman struggles to find proof that Damian is really his son.
Once his identity is confirmed, this changes how Batman sees Damian, but it doesn't change
how Damian sees everyone else.
He is still willing to throw Tim and any of the other people he considers to be his rivals
under the bus at any moment, and he is still as arrogant as ever.
Surprisingly, though, the reason behind all this is that he genuinely, truly wants to
be like his father, and to help him fight crime in Gotham City.
After Bruce Wayne supposedly dies in Batman: RIP two years later, Damian Wayne stays on
as Robin to Dick Grayson's Batman.
Eventually he and Grayson actually begin to bond, and Damian becomes more of a team player
even when Bruce Wayne returns in 2010, and he stays that way until his own death in 2013.
That, though, is a story for another day.
